Agreed with everything on this post. I have a horrible tingling fear that this is going to become the normality when they make new events or storylines etc, Wolvden is going to seep into Lioden whether they realise they're doing it or not. Really not enjoying how this event feels so far, a bit of foresight with the currency issues wouldn't have gone amiss, not really sure how that managed to get past balancing checks or whatever you want to call them? It's a shame really, I did love this month's event (ignoring the obvious icky parts of the past storyline) but to completely scrap the characters and the storyline, seems very out of place for Lioden, considering all the events and NPC's are linked in some way or another. Again, foresight. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Admins did note last year that the entire event would be scrapped, and no NPCs from old event will be re-used. I personally was prepared for that - I liked the characters, but not enough to miss them if they were gone - but what I wasnt prepared for, is the presentation of a new event. Which was... unsuccessful, to say the least, and ruined the first impression on an amazing event with how poorly it was originally balanced, raising stress and panic over what should have been a joyful, exciting new addition. The problem was not in the art, its amazing and flawless, artists did a great job. Coders, as well, have done a great job, and coded the entire event with no bugs or errors! Its just the balance that is off. And that, alone, have caused a big issue with the great new event. Like someone else already mentioned, the initial balance of the event was very.. Wolvden-ish. It makes me wonder if admins have mistook their games for a moment there? It is possible, when you develop two games at the same time, to forget that one needs a much more careful approach to stay balanced, given the many years that's already behind it and things already in place, while the other is new, and can shoulder a rough unrefined feature added to it, to be refined later as the very game is getting polished. The latest event admins prepared was Lunar Event for Wolvden, its possible they could have remained in Wolvden mindset when designing this event, and that's what caused it to be so... alien to us, at start. This feels to be what happened here; the initial balance of the event was based upon what would go well into Wolvden, twin-brothering its Lunar Event. Initial 15K SB price on the event apps is a further proof of admins looking to make it "choose just one, you cant get one of each" kind of event walkthrough, which is how Lunar Event works on Wolvden, you cannot physically get enough currency to get one of every applicator in the given time - you must choose only what you want most, as opposite to Lioden's many years-long balance of being able to afford at least one of each thing in the event. The community uproar raised today is pretty clear - Lioden is not Wolvden, and Wolvden difficulty levels are NOT at all compatible with Lioden. I feel it was possibly even a test of how well the community would take stepping towards a "Wolvden" difficulty level - for those of you unfamiliar with Wolvden, its a difficulty few stories above "Nightmare". The community clearly takes such steps badly, and I really hope that any further steps towards Wolvden will remain, as been said in news posts, "visual only", and will not feature any of the unnecessary difficulty skyrocketing like we've seen with this Wolvden-inspired event introduced to us. Lets hope this was a simple case of "oh, wait, that's for Lioden not for Wolvden" kind of misunderstanding! 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/07/21 @ 14:18:11 by Mad Hyena (#29080) |

To be honest, I empathize with the developers; many hours of hard work and frustration must have gone into this- the animation is, quite bluntly, out-of-this-world (*wink*). However, I...absolutely despise the mechanics of this event. I started off today with around 250-ish MS and now I am at 6. I burned through all of those in a day. I am so glad they made the battles a little more bearable. Being an artist and a musician, and an avid reader, I am a sucker for storylines. For something to get me to pay attention, it has to be a good story. This is why Pokémon Black/White and their sequels (B/W 2) are my absolute favorite Pokémon games. I mean, it was so complex how N's dad basically manipulated him into his extremist views so he could manipulate him some more. This event...all I know is that the Axion Cores are needed by the celestial dragns for a space convention, and that the vibrations of meteorite shards help you in gathering those axion cores. The new RL did fill in some holes, connecting her to Tefnut's world. But a lot still is left up in the air. Again, admins, thanks for all your hard work and time. I hope we can reach an understanding and in good nature. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/07/21 @ 15:36:48 by FlameHeart (#233839) |

You know, I kind of hated this, because I was so sad that I joined this year- after the last Menhit storyline- and told myself to keep my head up because they probably have something more spectacular planned without the taint of Apedemak. But now...I'm not really sure what to feel. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/07/21 @ 15:39:17 by FlameHeart (#233839) |

July event used to be my favorite...I love Tefnut and Menhit! Its also my birthday month so no matter what I always longed on for this event...I'm incredibly disappointed this year and not a fan of ...space dragons... or paying to take steps in another area as I do that in Wolvden already (which is something I rarely play now because of the lack of events.) I agree with everyone else and hope the staff listens. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I have to work on my Senior Paper (40-pg article review for university) by the time the fall semester starts. I and many others have things to do, jobs to attend to. I started playing in May, and really liked LD. But today, I am turned off and thinking about taking a hiatus. I ask the developers this, at the risk of sounding over-the-top arrogant: add something that is going to draw myself and others in. Something...addicting, and enjoyable. Something that I can enjoy in my free time. Not feel like more work. I apologize if this post is offensive. With all this said, I agree with the other people here. Let's hope this is just a misunderstanding and move forward on a better path. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/07/21 @ 15:51:48 by FlameHeart (#233839) |

The Wolvden comparison is a bit troubling to me. I dropped it after playing for about a month or two due to being overwhelmed with the grind, and other mechanics. It was, for me, simply unfun. There's a reason I stop playing most games that have a demanding gameplay. It's not for me, and that's fine, you can't please everyone after all. But Lioden has been a near constant for me. Sure, I've taken a few hiatuses here and there but I always end up coming back. Usually super excited for all the new things that have been added during my absence. This new event seems like just one big grind. Use your energy to explore for currency to explore for currency. While Lioden has always required a bit of a grind, this is on a whole nother level. And it's a bit discouraging, to be honest. Not to mention the whole applicator pricing. 6k to 15k then back to Meteorite Shards and now they're, temporarily, gone. Which worries me. Will they be for Axion Cores? s again? I was planning on playing for an applicator specifically this month but now I'm not sure if I should grind for Axion Cores or just go on Hiatus to preserve my King's lifespan. That being said, I do like the new sparkle decors. A lot. If I wasn't unsure about what to do I'd probably grab one or two of each, if I could. The explore area and encounters are also nice, it's just a bit too much of a grind for me. I love Lioden. It's kept my attention, long-term, when all other sim games failed to. And while I will most likely continue to play for years to come, July might just end up becoming another hiatus month for me. Though, it is too early to tell at this point. I'm also a bit stressed out due to recent real life events so perhaps that is effecting how I would normally react to this situation? Who knows, I certainly don't. Either way, Kit loves you! ;u;/ ❤️ 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm not sure I understand why there is a second explore zone at all. Why are those battles not happening in regular explore like every other event? Why are we not able to acquire both event currencies that way? Why do we need to acquire one currency for "energy" in one explore, then use it in another for a different currency? Who the heck has the time to do all of this and come out with any of the items they want unless they can spend literally all day playing? Does no one else have a job or a family or other hobbies? This is only my second July event, so I don't really remember what it was like last year, but this feels like an awful lot of effort for an event that's just supposed to be fun and allow you to get cool stuff. I quit Wolvden back in February so I don't know what that event was like, but all this talk made me decide not to go back to it, and I had been considering it. While I do feel bad because I'm also an artist and know how it feels to have your work rejected, I just don't understand how the decision was made to implement any of these completely illogical mechanics. Was there no testing? Was there no consideration of how this would impact casual or new players? It really doesn't feel like there was. 0 players like this post! Like? |

The only reason I see for wanting to do a "separate" explore is to introduce more vibrant backgrounds to explore against, and consequently, more vibrant enemies that can be done against those backgrounds. That I can see, if admins wanted to introduce a brighter set of NPCs/Encounters - its kind of hard to place a star dragon or a supernova against a set of yellow-brown african landscapes! (although October event already kind of has very vibrant characters) But personally I feel the cons of having a separate explore needing separate energy outweight the pros it gives. 0 players like this post! As a new player who joined early April this month, this is my first July event. And honestly, not what I expected at all. Joining early April meant mostly working out how the game worked throughout April, which means i didn't actually start monthly events till May. (yes, i really thought the bunnies were a part of explore and never knew there was an event shop, thinking back its kinda sucky my first event was May lmao) Back to July. I heard a lot about this event and i was actually super excited for it because of all the amazing bases and marking plus what the event had to offer, it seemed kind of messy to me at the start, so when i heard it was being revamped i was pretty excited and absolutely LOVED the new art. This was not what i expected. Everyone seems, confused first of all. The event seemingly just got scraped and the team just threw an almost entirely new thing at us. Which led to a lot of questions. Biggest question as of now, is that WHY AM I FIGHTING SPACE DRAGONS? It's just kind of disappointing how there's absolutely no storyline for this event. As a person who loves lore and storytelling, storyline is part of what kept me going during events. But the lack of a storyline just confuses a lot of us about what is happening, like where did tefnut and menhit GO? I understand the admin team has put a lot of effort into this and they're probably very frustrated that they are getting critisised for their hard work and all, but yall have to understand that we are too. The prices for the apps were absured. The constant change made the event seem unplanned (which to be fair i think it kinda was unplanned). Getting critiques from a wider range of players could've fixed this easily. Now i just wanna say that the team had put tons of effort into this and I am NOT critising the team or throwing hate at them, i understand how frustrated the team is because alot of people are irritated at them for doing this. 0 players like this post! Thanks for making this thread. In my four years as a Lioden player, I’ve noted how responsive the team had been to player concerns and feedback, at least until this point. As much as I enjoy this game, I think constructive criticism does more good for the player base than simply gushing over the artwork and the team. First, let’s compare the main shop currencies - axiom cores versus fireflies (which they also “retired” for no explicable reason). Fireflies could be obtained in multiple ways. The Cloud Forest guaranteed currency to players for checking in through the day. Every half hour you could exchange 2 uses of amusement items to an eagle for 3-6 fireflies. There were explore encounters where your lion could attempt to catch fireflies. Completing daily quests would also reward your with fireflies, with some NPCs yielding more than others. The firefly shop also had tiers that were unlocked throughout the month. The only way to obtain Axiom cores is in the celestial explore zone. Each step costs 5 meteorite shards and barring a few encounters, the only to get axiom cores is to battle NPCs. There are no quests or storyline whatsoever, nor an explanation of why you’re fighting dragon aliens in the first place. Event encounters in the main explore zone are completely nonexistent except for some text that gives your meteorite shards (and at first were just as likely to fail too). There are no tiers in the shop. Second, Lioden promised an origin story for Tefnut, which many players were excited for. Even though her shop remains, they decided to scrap this entirely. Why didn’t they consider replacing the Civil War storyline with one set in the past, centered around Tefnut? They could have kept the original structure, rewards and quest system and replaced the characters with Tefnut, a celestial lion, and a sun lion. Functionally, having five different endings with unique rewards and three alignments provided replay value. Remember that Tefnut is a Sunset lioness. Was she originally from a sun kingdom before she settled in a celestial pride? Could this be tied in to the conflict between the Celestial kingdom and the Firelord/sun lions? You can easily write a story about resolving a conflict between two factions without ruining beloved characters or bringing incest into it. (It’s also implied by Menhit that Apedemak was once a good father to her and husband to Tefnut and completely different before absorbing the whispers, so perhaps we could even see Tefnut and Menhit as mother and cub during a happier time.) The original storyline with the abusive version of Apedemak could be retconned into a nightmare a character had. Why not revamp the storyline into that promised origin story for Tefnut, instead of throwing out the entire event, characters, fireflies, Zimbabwe and all? 0 players like this post! Like? I think we should talk about the loss rate of battles during the Celestial explore. I have a king that has 23 stats. He is a breeding project. I previously (a few days ago) had a king that had 123 stats. I have lost every single battle since I’ve had my new king proof This is only 6 out of 10 or so battles I’ve attempted thus far. 6 battles is 30 meterotite shards at least. I only got 1 axion core from 30 of my shards becaus I was incapable of winning a single battle. A background in the shop is 50 axion cores. How the hell am I supposed to get to that? I only have 37 axion cores at the moment. I had 40ish from my 350 meteorite shards (it took me all 350 to get to 47) but I entered the celestial raffle lioness thing twice. Im not gaining any axion cores but I am losing meteorite shards and energy. I am going to run out of axion cores eventually for the lionesses and especially if I wanted any of the decor/bgs in the shop. Not to mention an applicator, which is probably going to be more axion cores than the backgrounds. Someone please tell me how the math for this event is supposed to work? I know we’re all upset about the story but what the shit is going on with the currency/math/drop rates?? What if I had a low king to begin with? What if I was unlucky with battles? What if I was new and had no MS in the beginning like I was lucky enough to have? Why does my entire enjoyment of the event depend on if I’m lucky enough to win a battle that I have to pay to attempt? Oh, and I also have to grind Sb while I do it instead of using an actual event currency. It’s flawed. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 09/07/21 @ 11:09:38 by Hearteater. (#60699) |

I agree with most everything being said by users in this thread. The july event is a mess, and I am extremely disappointed in how it turned out. I didn't even know dragons were hinted at but all I was told by others that was July was being revamped. My first thought was "Yay! They're going to redo the story with apendenmark but get a professional writer and make it less horrible! ". Instead we get sparkly space dragons, no storyline, and now we get no markings from the temple. One of the biggest issue with lioden events w/ story lines is the writing. I know the topic is July event but let me give may as an example: Vash is just an asshole that somehow at the end of the event after basically being cruel to his little brother for no reason we're suppose to forgive because he acts a little nicer. Doubt that was the intention with the character but after the whole event that's just the vibe I got. Again, not to mention we got no new storyline and also we got a theme that makes no sense, a system that won't work in the long run, and making people grind extra to participate in the event when most people don't like doing that in the first place! I personally would've been so much happier if we got a revamp of the last storyline where the characters were better thought out, and we don't just randomly have the ability to go to space. What about people who didn't do the demigure event? Why would the demigure be helping random lions? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm also frustrated with the amount of work we're expected to put in for this event. I returned to Lioden last month for the first time in years, and I really enjoyed the June event! But having to pay to get AC? I don't get a lot of MS to begin with, and I want items from the shop that cost MS, so I don't want to use them all to explore. Also the win/loss rate for the battles is really bad. I've lost almost every encounter, spent over 100 shards and came out with 3 AC. Why is it so difficult? I'm also poor with SB so I can't afford anything in the shops with that, either. The sunrise/sunset markings are one of my favorite and I'm so sad I'm not sure I'll be able to get any apps. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I've really come to appreciate the more low key events over the years. It feels like most of the time we're fighting demons and monsters. I also always enjoyed the storyline stuff, NPCs like V'kai and Menhit are great and enjoyable to read about. I don't mind all the other things like the balancing and currency stuff, and I don't mind a few outlandish events here and there, but man we already have so many of those and now there's another one? What happened to the lion family drama? 0 players like this post! Like? |
