At the early crack of dawn Snowstride perked her ears, one eye opening to watch her kits stir. It had been noisy the past few days with the ceremony appointing Poolstar's own kits as apprentices as well as the whole situation with Wasp'fang and her mother, but nevertheless she remained lowkey, after all she had her own worries.

Stormkit was snoozing on her side while Smokekit was... flat on his face, Snowstride shook her head helplessly moving over to nudge him back into a comfortable position. He rolled a little too much and ended up on his back, yet another uncomfortable looking position, his mouth agape with a little drool coming out. Sighing Snowstride decided to wake them up, after all she had had them in close proximity to Poolstar's own, the time had come for them to be apprenticed as well.

With a few licks and nibbles Smokekit finally woke, muttering and stumbling about not completely awake as he let his mother bathe him, snowstride glanced at him worriedly, was he going to do alright? Stormkit stirred before her mother's tongue reached her, dodging out of reach of her motherly affection, instead opting to clean herself, Snowstride only shook her head haplessly at her kit's standoffish behavior. she led them out of the nursery, her limping had gotten worse recently and her old injury was beginning to ache, she would have to see RuneScar soon.

Leostrike entered the camp, a squirrel hanging from his jaws. He'd found it climbing his housefolk's trees. ^Sometimes, prey is kinda dumb. At least it's tasty.^ He thought. He saw snowstride limp out of the nursery with her kits. "Snowstride? Are you okay? Your leg... You should see Runescar." He looked worried. ^I do wonder who the father is^ He thought, looking at the kits.

Wasp'fang stirred in her sleep, her paws kicking in the air as she snored away. While asleep she again encountered Rose'paw but was able to defuse the situation and fall asleep soundly once more. As the sun peaked into the warrior den she groaned, turning away from the bright light as she wanted to sleep in more. The she's tail wrapped around her face, hearing the other warriors wake and walk past her for their duties yet she still slept soundly.

ShadowStep looked up when he heard more movement, his ears flicking. He was surprised to see so many awake at once this early but it was a good surprise. As he waited for SilverSplash, he went to RuneScar. The she-cat had been asleep but woke when the large Tom entered, asking if she needed anything while he would be gone hunting.
She shook her head and stretched out her legs, slowly standing. "I should be fine with what I have. Is anyone else awake?" she asked.
"SnowStride and her kits, and the kitty pet is back," ShadowStep answered and the pair walked out of her den together. "I'm waiting for SilverSplash."

Silversplash watched the Tom from a distance. She took a few minutes to clean herself up a bit after her rest. She watched the other cats from her spot outside the warriors den. She smiled to herself as she watched Snowstride’s kits. She was worried for her clan mate but she could do nothing for her. She turned her gaze back to Shadowstep. She trotted over to him with her tail high. “I’ve been waiting on you to get back!”

ShadowStep chuckled with a shake of his head. "I must not have seen you among everyone else - seeing as you're so small," he teased her playfully and looked down at his younger sibling. The she-cat nodded her head to affirm she still didn't need anything and instead walked to SnowStride to check on her and the kits' health. ShadowStep turned and walked away out of the clan entrance, shaking his pelt and raising his head to taste the air. "We should be able to find some prey by the Fallen Tree. The dirt is soft enough there for hares and birds will be gathering nesting material," he said.

She huffed lightly and gently smacked his neck. Her claws were sheathed so she didn’t actually hurt him. “Maybe you’re just too big!” She stood up taller and tried to make herself seem larger. She dipped her head to Runescar in greeting. “Definitely! I went by yesterday and saw quite a few birds. We should come back with a good haul.” She dashed out of the camp ahead of him

ShadowStep rolled his eyes and trotted after her to build up speed before running, his strides long but his bulk kept him slower than the she-cat he followed. He slowed to a stop when the fallen log came into view, his ears and whiskers twitching at the sound of all the birds and prey scattering around them. "I'll take the rocky ledge," he told her quietly as he could see several birds nesting or sitting calmly on the edges. ShadowStep moved near silently, low to the ground and belly scraping the wet grass and rock. He was far more careful once at the edge of the wall, not wanting his paws to scatter rocks.
The Tom had successfully positioned himself above three fat magpies, the birds completely unaware a few tail lengths below him. ShadowStep perched and waited, his eyes calculating the hunt. He then launched forward from his hindlegs, dropping down. With front legs wide and tail swinging to keep him balanced, he landed down on the ledge. Two of the birds escaped but one was crushed beneath his weight. ShadowStep delivered the killing blow, rocks crumbling before the pressure but the Tom was quick to pick up his kill and scale up the cliff face again and back onto safe ground.

The she-cat slowed down a bit so he didn’t wear himself out completely before the hunt even began. She slowed down to a walk when the large log was in her sights. She went quiet trying to listen for any potential prey. Her eyes darted along the ground and river bank. “I’ll stay down here. Be careful up there.” She crouched down once he scaled up to the ledge.

After a little bit a nice plump mouse scurried right by her. She slowed began to trail it, making sure to keep as quiet at possible. Once the mouse had settled into a spot, she lifted her back end into the air. She focused solely on the prey in front of her and pounced. Her claws sunk into the flesh of the smaller creature. She quickly killed it and retreated back to her original spot.

It was times like this when snowstride who usually preferred peace and alone time fully appreciated the liveliness of her clan, Leostrike's kind concerns and the playful banters between clanmates brightened up the atmosphere and made her pain a little more bearable. she softly greeted Leostrike with a nose bump, reassuring him before they parted ways. As Runescar approached she gave the other she-cat a wry expression "Hey Runescar, my injury is acting up again can you take a look at it later?" she said while nudging Smokekit, who was still groggy and had decided to sleep atop her paws, away. Stormkit was already a whiles away, batting at a grasshopper that was trying to escape.

ShadowStep carried the bird back down to where the two had parted. He dropped his kill and smiled at her own. "Probably the biggest mouse I've seen!" he complimented and turned back to hunt with her more. They stayed apart for majority of their hunt to avoid alerting prey too much, ShadowStep ending his duty with a Dove and a juvenile hare.

RuneScar turned her head and smiled at the queen. "I can check now if you'd like while your young are busy - ish," she laughed at the one kit trying to stay by their mother. "If you can walk away and back to me, don't try to toughen it out. If you must limp, do. And don't hide your pain either."

Silversplash looked up from her digging. “It’s big but that bird is better!” She dropped her mouse in the hole. “Leave your catch here!” She didn’t mind parting ways since she could focus more. She managed to bring back a coke and a crow. She looked rather pleased with herself. “Wow! You’re pretty good at hunting!” She said as she sniffed at the hare

ShadowStep smiled with a chuckle. "It's not my strongest skill but I find enjoyment in it when it goes as smoothly as this did. You're clearly the expert here," he said and looked over their small pile. "This will be a good replenishment for the rotten kill earlier."

“You seem pretty good at least!” The she-cat laughed quietly. “It did go smoothly. No injuries and we actually caught stuff!” She picked up what she could and through a full mouth started to talk again. “I hate throwing out that food but sometimes there’s not enough around to it.” She started to head back to camp

He bent down and picked up the rest, adjusting his mouth around them and shrugging some as they began to walk back. "It's best to throw it out. Rotting food is what wiped out RuneScar's and my clan," he explained. "It reached the other food and several cats ate it. It was too late to help them and we were lucky we found SkyClan or else we'd still be on our own."
