Severus

Severus climbed up the gentle slope of rock that steepened a little as you got higher. Once he reached his destination, the highest point on the rock, he stopped. Severus walked slowly to the bed of moss and other soft materials. "Softest moss out here." He said. He plopped onto the moss, leaving room for Siouxse.

Siouxse II:

She gave a nod, she hopped onto the jagged rock, her paws tingled as she leapt and landed.

She squished through the moss, stretching before she sat on the moss next to Severus, her ears

flicked. She was surprised and astonished.

Severus gazed up at the spiraling stars that seemed to spread, like wings over the night sky. It was truly an amazing sight.

Aqua

With his head hung low, he slowly built up the courage to enter camp and tried to make his way to his sleeping place as fast as possible without causing any attention to land on himself. Eventually he made it to the cave that had his nest inside it and quietly scampered over towards it, trying to make as little sound as possible. They lowered themself down into their nest and curled up in it, slowly getting lost in thought as he stared into the floor, waiting for sleep to consume them.

Shasa returns to the camp from a short jaunt of the nearest parts of the territory, having been seeking any signs of herd movements from the local prey. She trots in, heavy paws bearing down on short grasses and pebbles as she glances around at her pridemates. She notices Aqua heading to his sleeping spot, eyes tracking him for a moment before she looks away and instead focuses on the sky. She quietly wonders about the weather, lowering down to her haunches to sit and rest in a clear spot. Her tail idly swings about at either hip, finally shaking her head to shoo some pesky flies, causing her nose chain to jingle. "What a day." She mutters idly, those pale, dusty-colored eyes finally looking around the camp to see if anyone looks approachable for idle chatter.

Sayriah
After a while of wrestling with the cubs, it was time for bed. As the moon elevated itself high into the inky black sky, it cast yawning shadows into the nursery den. The bulky feline aided the exhausted mothers with putting their offspring to sleep, which didn’t seem to take long due to the fact they had been playing pretty much all day with Sayriah. After rumbling a good night to the lionesses, they exited the den by squeezing through the mouth of the den and emerging into the pride’s camp clearing. Swinging his head from side to side, he scanned the clearing for a possible spot to lay down on so he could stargaze, but his golden-brown gaze froze when he caught a glimpse of one of the lionesses laying down. Feeling sociable, Sayriah strode over to the lioness, whom he then recognized as Shasa, one of the huntresses of the pride. They stopped in front of Shasa, lowering their head to look down at her. “Good evening.” Sayriah gave the lioness a polite dip of his head as a kind gesture of greeting. He sauntered a couple inches to the side and lowered himself onto the ground. “I enjoy this time of night. No.. punky fellow submales or a Queen we clearly all dislike to worry about.” They murmured, parting their jaws to allow a ginormous yawn to slide out from the depths of his mouth.

Shasa pauses as she hears someone approaching her, turning her head and training her gaze on the male. She noted it was Sayriah, a lion she had known to be giant but fairly gentle. "Good evening." She echoes with a soft, rumbling murmur. However, at the words that follow she stiffens a bit. Her gaze swivels quickly around the pride, ears flattened, but she was pleased to see that neither the Queen nor whatever subpage she was talking about seemed to be within earshot. She visibly relaxes, lowering to her belly and tucking her front paws to her chest with a yawn. "Bold words, but..." She pauses, meeting his gaze for a second to solidify her statement. "We should be cautious what we say. Who knows if there are any ears here who would narc on us." She lowers her voice to a nervous, swift whisper. Perhaps it was foolish to worry, and the Queen wouldn't care anyway; but Shasa didn't want to find out, or be involved in any wrathful gestures because of it.

Sayriah
Sayriah shifted his laying position so he would be resting on his side, using his elbow to prop himself up. "That... that is true." He murmured. "I suppose I should start training myself to be more thoughtful with my choice of words, given the new situation we were all forced to support." The felid half-smiled, a light chuckle emitting from him.

Shasa's gaze softens, and she loses those worry-lines by her lips and near her eyes. "We'll be alright." She muses, glancing up at the stars overhead for a moment. She gives a short huff through her nose, studying a few thin clouds that drift lazily overhead. "... I wish there was a way to pay our respects to our former Queen." She mutters, claws lazily sliding in and out from their sheathes. She knew there would not be anyone challenging the new Queen. Not when she'd brutally murdered the former. Shasa had passed her body on the way back to the pride, and even as horror struck her gut she knew what someone could do when seeking power. "How long do you think this shaky calm will last?" She asks, turning her gaze on Sayriah's eyes again.

Sayriah
"Even if we did pay our respects, I'm sure the new sovereign would mock us for it." Sayriah replied, ascending his gaze up toward the sky and stared intently at the stars that were blotted across the black background. He pinned his rounded ears against the sides of his broad head, a grim frown dancing across his lips. It was truly a shame that someone so honorable was murdered in such cold blood, but sadly enough, that's just how it goes. They removed their pale golden-brown eyes from the shiny, silvery speckles and instead focused them on the lioness that rested beside him. "Not long." The subordinate male responded, his voice grim. "Who knows what will take place from here on out. As far as I can tell, our new Queen has unpredictable ways of getting around."

Shasa curled her lip a bit at his response, but she knew he was right. She could still smell the iron-filled tang of blood hanging in the air, carried on the dry but cool evening breeze. It made her stomach turn, knowing where it had come from. "You're right, Sayriah." She finally speaks, swiping her tongue over her teeth and catching her nose chain with a quick metallic jingle. "I suppose that comes with any takeover, though; an unpredictable new ruler." She speaks with a bitter tone, paws still neatly tucked to her chest.

Sayriah forced himself to not scrunch up his snout in disgust at the tangy, metallic smell of the sanguine fluid as it wafted through the air. "Yep," He murmured. "But we'll be okay. Not just us, but everyone. Someday, hopefully, a better lion will replace Siouxse's spot on the throne. Let's just hope that day is sometime soon." Sayriah breathed, veering his gaze away from Shasa and trained them back onto the stars.

Shasa nods, untucking one foreleg to rest her chin on it and settle down for the evening. "Time will tell." She answered simply, comfortable enough to doze next to Sayriah for the night. One ear would occasionally swivel, a sign she was too alert to really sleep, but that was the one and only sign that she wasn't fully out of it. For now she is quiet, settled on the sandy ground and waiting for their new ruler to return so she could see her for herself.

Novo:

Over the horizon, Novo spotted the pride. Paws stumbling over each other, they trudged toward it, the hot sun burning their face. She paused for a minute to catch her breath and tasted blood on her tongue. They shivered through the warmth and padded on, determined to find water or signs of life.

Sayriah
Sayriah nodded his head subtly in agreement, grunting as he tucked his large paws beneath his chest. He lowered his gaze back toward the lioness, his jaws parting as if he were to say something, but quickly clamped them shut when he realized Shasa had fallen asleep. A soft titter of amusement came from the lion as he raised his head and kept alert for any arrivals, hoping that Siouxse and Severus wouldn't be coming back, even though Sayriah knew, deep down, that they probably would be returning sooner or later.
