My fact is that there is an alcove underneath tower bridge in london that used to frequently collect bodies during victorian times. So frequently, in fact, that the city built a morgue under the bridge to hold the discovered corpses inside until they could be processed. The alcove is called dead mans hole.

As an animal rehabber, you may already know this, so I'm working on coolness. Did you know that much like some insects, mollusks, crustaceans, and reptiles, that turkeys can reproduce asexuality?

Through a process called parthenogenesis, an unfertilized egg begins to develop into an embryo without a sperm being introduced! From there chromosome doubling takes over, and the egg cell duplicates its own genetic material. This cell will then develop into a male turkey embryo.

Yep. A female turkey, when reproducing asexually, will only result in a male hatchling.

This is due to the bird's sex determination system. Where as humans are female homogametic (XX) or male heterogametic (XY), turkeys are female heterogametic (ZW) and males are homogametic (ZZ). This means a parthenogenetic embryo will always be male, since it is the (Z) chromosome that spits off and duplicates!
