The actual RP The Sign Ups will reopen at around August 7th and close when it seems fit. The wolves most people think of when they hear the word "wolf" are timber wolves; Large, tough, and living in temperate forests and gorging on elk. But there exists a subspecies of timber wolf that doesn't live in the temperate forest, but the tropical variety. Short-furred and even more..."bipolar"...than their common counterparts, being very content or aggressive as it seems fit. Feeding on fish, and patrolling the territory daily, life is as good as it can be for most of these packs. The story begins when one of the lower ranked pack members of one such rainforest pack goes exploring down a newly discovered stream, and goes missing. The Alpha Male picks up on this, and, alone, follows his trail, only to share the same mysterious fate. The RP will start off immediately after the Alpha disappears, and pack members will grow curious. What happens next? Up to you! Rules: - Hunger, thirst, sleep and wounds all apply realistically, so keep that in mind when, say, someone gifts someone else a rabbit. - Hunting and fights are to be detailed and as fair as possible. Since its realistic, serious cuts and very successful hunts are incredibly uncommon, even for a skilled wolf. Survival is hard, so no "grabs neck and bites down" moments, for prey or enemies. Point is, no godmodding. -Literacy. I want full sentences that make sense and have grammar. I don't need a huge novel, but just enough details to make it clear who you are, where you are, and what your doing. This is to prevent huge confusion. - Romance is to be toned down. Packs typically only have one mated pair, and although other relationships aren't exactly uncommon, they aren't super prevalent. Having close, strong relationships without romance is possible too, guys. Plus, most members in wolf packs are related, so...Yeah. One big family! - Going back to realism, realistic wolves only. No wings, super huge fangs, powers of any sort, unrealistic coloring, ect. - If your going to kill or even heavily hurt someone else's character ASK THEM FIRST. If they're not okay with it, don't do it. - To prove you read this, put your favorite color(s) in the passcode part of the character sheet. - One to two characters per person, although I prefer just one character per person. Keeps things a bit more varied and focused, I feel. - This is NOT first come, first serve. I accept people who follow these rules in the character sheet, with literacy and realism. - On mature issues and human language; Keep human language tame, and no slang whatsoever ("Town" is fine, but "YOLO" is not.) Wolf speak is to be toned down a little as well. For sake of flow, we won't have special names for humans, although cars and houses are to be called "machines" and "buildings", and generalized like that. As for mature issues, tackle it if you wish. Gore is fairly unrealistic, so try to shy away from that, but religion, abuse, and other things are fairly game IF IT'S NECESSARY. Do NOT add religious commentary if it doesn't develop a character, their relationships, or past, and same with abuse. Don't add it just to be edgy or because you can. It must have purpose, as well as Gore. - Activity is required. Check back at least every 3 or 4 days, to keep updated. If you can't be active for a little bit, let us know so we don't get stuck in a situation where we all wait for an inactive person. Also, a note: Keep track of inactive characters. By that, I mean, cover for them and mention them, even if their player won't be on for a week. This does NOT mean control their character, this only means mentioning their whereabouts at some point. "Oh, Wolfen, where's Balto?" "Oh, I'm not sure, around here somewhere. Did you need something?" Or "I think he went that way, based off scent, but why do you need him, is something wrong?" I prefer this to simply letting characters drop off from existence when the player is busy with life. Because, when the player gets back on, chances are, they might feel lost and forgotten to find the plot rush on, and then the player just pops back from nowhere and feels out of place, and that's no fun. So basically, take care of each other with continuity? - In that same vein, arguments between characters are fine, but try to avoid catfights and drama among members. Characters Name: Gender, Rank and Age: Appearance: Personality: Skills and Weaknesses: Family*: Other: Passcode: * Since this IS the realistic approach, family should have importance, wether that family be another pack member, a pup that died young as most wolves do, or a sibling that left the pack at a young age as most wolves do. Just little details in all of these cases, but they do flesh out and reinforce the character. Alpha Female: Kairem, (Silver Ackerman) New Alpha Male: Brangwen (Ticklicious) Beta Female: Talia (Becca) New Beta Male: Taken (Prince) Delta's: Artemis (Calista the Onyx Wolf Queen) Carabi (Prince) May (Cynder) Cyanara (Valana) Omegas: Kita (Cynder) Somali (Bellevue) Full Pups: Kerchak (Becca) Alkmir (Silver Ackerman) (Reserved by Kanakei?) Open, about 1 slot People to join the RP (who have discussed joining but haven't yet): 2, Blaze and Kanakei A disclaimer: the ranks WILL change. If someone leaves the RP, we might recruit a new person and thus a new pup or something is born. The pack hierarchy is run by dominance rather than democracy or dynasty, so alphas will change as well. Pups will grow too. Also, we're trying to keep the pack gender balanced, although more females than males does work considering real life, where less males means less competition and possible cheating. But again, romance isn't to be a main theme, so it's gender balanced just because it's weird to have a pack of mostly female wolves. But basically, don't freak out about the inequality rank wise as well. If you want your character to have pups someday, it certainly will happen...someday. But plot takes priority. Although, wanting to be a mother is a pretty strong plot motivation so - well, just know the ranks aren't set in stone, and have fun with that in RP. 0 players like this post! Like? @SilverAM Alright, I shall work on finishing my app today! And yes, he was the previous Beta I would expect, taking position after the previous dominant breeding male ended up dying, perhaps to old age. Also a quick thing. Will aging be a factor in this RP? Since I kinda realized the age of your wolf, and typically wild gray wolves live 6 to 8 years, rarely making it past that mark. So if aging played a role in this RP then it seems both our wolves will likely not have much time left. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 19/06/15 by Ticklicous (#490) |

Ticklicious, Wait, isn't Brangwen the new alpha? The current alpha disappeared, and Brangwen takes his place, as he was Beta, right? You mentioned Brangwen disappearing as well as him previously being Beta, so I'm a little confused. You don't need to make him have giantism, he can just be a grey wolf or just simply larger than others, which is quite useful for dominance. Aging will be a factor, as pups do grow up and adolescents will grow as well. As for the age cap, that's a good point. I'm thinking we can go a little unrealistic and have them live up to around 9 or 10 years, as the rainforest is a lush environment with a lot of food and shelter, so they're more healthy than average wolves as well, and with less effort. They don't need to trek for miles and kill an elk for food: just go down to the river and stand there for an hour! The bigger issue is snakes and disease, but the idea is that their bodies aren't worn down as much and live longer because if it. So there's some logic behind it, I guess. That should give our characters enough time to do plenty and more, but restrict having them be like...immortal. They do age, but chances are, we're be RPing day to day with some time skips, not events over several Years, so we shouldn't worry about them not having too much time. Thank you for bringing that up though! I read an outdated wolf books a long time ago and thought wild wolves normally lived up to 10 years in the wild, and didn't realize the information was inaccurate. As for a villain, we will have to talk about that over messaging, mwhaha. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mystical, at the end of the day it is my opinion and me using my position of power, so don't feel upset. I'm glad your willing to learn though, improve yourself and all. Anyway, it really was just how you wrote the sheet. The grammar and detail was a bit too simplistic/different for what I aim for, particularly here. His name, Drake, is a huge contrast to the other wolves's exotic names And I feel like that kind of reflects on the character. His personality has potential, but I didn't get to really see that potential fulfilled in how he was written. A character sheet should be a base as well as a show off. It's like if someone asked, "How would you describe your friend?" You'd be honest on their flaws, but also let their good stuff show, normally to a degree of wanting to know this person, wether by being interested or because of their personality. The sheet should also be something you yourself rely on:" How should my character react to this? Well, the sheet makes him sound honorable, so I'll have him be kind but stern." Basically, I didn't really see much of Drake, nor do I have interest to. He's kind, caring, protective, childish and takes his role seriously, which are all great traits, but without detail on it, and spirit in the writing style, it fell flat for me, and that's a major issue for a character. And RP RELIES on characters. One weak link breaks the chain, so I declined. But this is still all my opinion on characters, writing, all that jazz, so don't feel a need to take it to heart. You write who you want, however you want, and I'd hate for you to change that just for a RP. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@SilverAM Oh woops, for a while I thought you had meant the current lead male would go missing, not the previous one. XD Since it never really explained that in your post. "The Alpha Male picks up on this, and, alone, follows his trail, only to share the same mysterious fate." Like, for example, it would have also been good to perhaps explain that it was the previous lead male instead of the one that will be played as of current. But otherwise it's no biggie. I just kinda read as is and went off of the info. :3 Edit;; Sorry if I sound kinda critical. Just I have been RPing for years now and am at a more literate level with loads of experience, so I kinda tend to go into certain aspects of RP when I see stuff that should be further explained or whatnot. DX Yeah, that sounds good. Though also being in a tropical area in a sense will pose it's own dangers which, more or less could possibly bring way more risk hazards since tropical places tend to be filled with more apex predators anyways. But yes, that does sound good overall regarding age. -evil grin- Goood, gooooooodddd.... I have an idea in mind already. ewe Imma PM ya. :p 0 players like this post! Like? Ticklicious, don't apologize! You make perfect sense, and you don't sound critical at all. I made it vague on purpose to avoid shedding light on what exactly is happening, but I made it so vague that I didn't specify who it was well enough. Please, feel free to point this stuff out in the future! Your experience really does show here, and I'd love to explain and fix things as it's needed. It makes for a more fleshed out world and atmosphere, and I have no problems with being told about problems and stuff. Like, the age thing was great, I'm glad we could fix that up. Basically, alpha disappears, Brengwen quickly takes his place. I'll have to clear that up. Yup. The main wolfkiller here isn't old age, starvation, or infected wounds, it's snakes, floods, disease and bigger predators. Rainforest ain't no paradise. I mean, it has plentiful food, water and shelter, buuuut you aren't the only ones enjoying it. And we all know how well felines and canines get along! 0 players like this post! Like? |

@SilverAM Alrighty. :3 And okay, if I see anything that may need perhaps fixing or some editing then I will be sure to give you a few ideas on how to do so or such. Overall though this in general has been well put together. Also, as a quick suggestion. But of course it is up to you in the final say; perhaps adding a posting order of the sorts may be helpful? Mainly since of course during a free for all, those kind of threads can be so confusing and at times even harder for others who have been away for a bit to catch up during times of heavy activity. Although if a posting order is made, maybe give a time limit as to how long it can take? For example, perhaps after two days is up for one person's turn then the order will continue as is until said player is up again? Errr... Sorry if this sounds a bit too jumbled. XD Kinda hardish to give a basic idea of what I mean. :p Like cats and dawgs. :p Except the cats here are like, freaking massive killing machines! >8D [[I am so sorry but I had to... Ticklicious, that is one of the most amazing pictures I have been blessed to see on the internet I understand, like taking turns. I'll have to consider it. I'm thinking of relying on common sense for when to post, though. Like, to know when it's most effective to jump in. It seems like we all get on at different times, so two posting at the exact same time shouldn't be a worry. I'll have to see how it goes, the first couple of pages in the RP. 0 players like this post! Like? |
