Crimsonwing purred with ease as the pain died. She thanked Bumbleberry and padded quietly to the warriors den as the sun's final flourishes gave way to the chill of night. She halted abruptly and noticed the rumble in her stomach. She grabbed a small shrew, brought it to the warriors den and dropped dead with tire, taking small bites of her shrew as her eyes grew heavy and her thoughts escaped her.

Bumbleberry | Outside medicine den | Crimsonwing, anyone

The medicine cat nodded to Crimsonwing before looking towards the sky and smiling. She laid down, her white pelt standing out against the dark surroundings, almost glowing in the dark as she thought. It was almost time to go to the seeing pool and speak with Starclan.

I can move.." she offered with a smile, she wasn't used to sleeping with a cat near her.. she had left the warriors den many many moons ago.. she had been a young leader once, appointed to leader at 20 moons which had been very unusual.. she had been the youngest deputy.. which was weird to every cat and she wasn't expecting it.. then the previous leader had died after a fox had gotten a hold of him and Icestar had chased it off before it really had crushed him with the help of other warriors of course.. but on his death bed.. she will never forget what he had said to her..

She smiled and purred in response, she looked at Emeraldfrost as she looked around the den. Smiling again, looking away before she saw her looking and closed her eyes. She was attempting to sleep... hoping it would come soon.. but the presence of the cat was distracting. She didn't know why, but it did. She curled her tail around her on the side Emeraldfrost was on so, her tail sort of curled around Emeraldfrost's paws, brushing against the cats side. Her ear flicked ever so often as she waited for sleep, even as she was distracted.

Gaze drifting slowly around the den, Emeraldfrost gradually felt herself becoming languid in the warm silence. Though a small part of her mind always remained on Icestar beside her, overthinking and uncertain. When she felt a tail brush over her side, she felt her heart stop, before continuing hesitantly and irregularly. Glancing at the leader, Emeraldfrost watched the flicking ear, before dropping her head on her paws. She could tell by the breathing of the body beside her that Icestar wasn't yet asleep. "I'll remain right here while you sleep. However, pay me no mind if you wish to," Emeraldfrost spoke softly, unsure of what to say, unsure if anything she could say would help Icestar sleep. She supposed letting the other know she wouldn't be leaving might help with the nightmares, or on the other hand, asking Icestar to pay her no mind if she was disturbing to the other...

Her ear continued to flick every so often and she listened to Emeraldfrost's voice. Her eyes remained closed as she spoke, "Thank you.." was all she could say, it was hard for her to not think about Emeraldfrost. It was odd, she was distracted by just her. She didn't know why.. but hearing her say she wouldn't leave while she slept made her heart flutter. She flattened her ears against her head so her ear would stop twitching. She purred and cuddled as close as she could to Emeraldfrost, unconsciously doing it actually. She slowly drifted off after she cuddled close to the cat. Her purring dulled until it stopped as she slept.

She opened her eyes and stood up, stretched as she looked around. She didn't see Emeraldfrost, so she padded out of the den. She looked over the deserted camp and wondered what had happened. After she climbed down the steps, she saw Emeraldfrost in the middle of camp, her brother standing beside her. She padded up to them both, her brother's ember eyes rested softly on her as she approached. She sat with the two and wondered what was going on, her brothers voice sounded almost melodic as he spoke, "I thought you would have liked to see me" He smiled, "I guessed who you would have probably picked as deputy.." He said with a gentle voice as he gestured towards Emeraldfrost. "You may love who you choose to.. don't be worried at all" He said with a smile. She was confused but, just watched as he stood up and walked away. She looked towards the spot where Emeraldfrost had been, now she had vanished and there was blood everywhere..

Emeraldfrost smiled lightly at hearing the thanks, before closing her eyes herself. As time ticked by she felt the breathing of the cat beside her slow and she silently thanked StarClan her leader had found sleep. She felt a bit silly for thanking her ancestors for something as simple as rest, but it felt so much more important when it was Icestar who was lacking in it. After awhile Emeraldfrost felt herself drifting off, her body purring of its own accord at feeling the other cuddle closer. When she stirred, body not needing any more sleep, her emerald eyes shone with confusion before clearing, She glanced at Icestar, who was asleep, and curled her tail to rest on the other, an endearing smile on her face. Her heart warm, she soaked up the moment while she could. She hoped the other's sleep was well, and at the thought, she pressed her muzzle into Icestar's fur.

She stirred in her sleep, blood on her own paws and she looked around in horror. She saw blood everywhere, bodies of cats in almost every spot of camp. She examined her own pelt and saw gauges all over it.. her paws had her own blood all over them.. she looked up towards the camp exit to see a cat walking in slowly, an evil grin on its face and blood all over it. Her icy blue eyes went wide as she realised the cat probably had taken the life of all of the cats.. but where had her wounds come from..? She took steps back as it came near, the stench of blood wafting over, making her feel sick. A voice echoed as if taunting her, "run little kitten.." she kept moving backwards and then turned, running full tilt towards the back of camp, not knowing what to do once she got there.. suddenly she awoke, eyes opened suddenly and she jolted a little. She was almost sitting and looking around with wide eyes as she panted. Soon realising it was all just a dream, she started to relax, her eyes resting on Emeraldfrost and she sighed, happy she was OK.. glad it was just a dream and nothing more.. why was she so drawn to the cat? She wouldn't ever let her know..
