WARNING - ALL LINKS ON THE LIST MAY CONTAIN DISTURBING PHOTOS OF MUTATED INDIVIDUALS. YOU ARE OPENING THE PHOTOS WITH RISK OF SEEING SOMETHING THAT MIGHT UPSET YOU. THESE ARE ACTUAL PHOTOS AND NOT SOFTENED DRAWINGS OF CUTE BABBY LIONS These are suggestions accepted, planned or considered with very high chance of success. All approved mutations (or partially approved threads) receive a [vv] symbol. Duplicates I will just lock cause no point for me to have more than 1 of the same suggestion - don't get upset your suggestion is locked and other isn't - the idea is the same and it won, that's what counts! If I did not approve your mutation it means I am thinking about it, waiting for more player thoughts or I didn't see it yet :o 2020 note: I stopped updating this thread too often, but did a clean up in May Also, we have some mutations planned or are thinking about some, that aren't on the list, such as sub-mutations, rare conditions, spoilers that would ruin fun or challenges we're unsure of. Health messages through life - dies randomly between 2 to 8 years - Art change: Birth to Adult Radial Hypoplasia - aka Squitten - causes short legs while hind legs are long. Cannot hunt, patrol etc, just like a Blind lion. Can generate birth message, dies randomly between 1 to 8 years - Art change: Birth to Adult Minimal art change or not visibleThe thought behind those is that those mutations could be caused by breeding to old lionesses or inbreeding via user suggestions Cross-Eyed - Art change: could be eyes-like decors layered over the lineart, responsive to the actual eye colours - stat penalty - can't be retired into, can hunt or patrol though. HybridsThings are brewing! This is kept spoiler-free. Primal variantsThere's a few more variants designed and named after ancient beasts or latin/greek words, each will have a unique trait or source. Chimera issueChimera is one of most suggested mutations. The issue is that it would require two sets of lion information: Two bases, set of markings each, separate eye colours etc. Sounds like a very serious problem when coding the information - the extra tables have to be coded there, but not show up in normal lions. It is VERY difficult to do that. Method 1 - code-wise the most complex way, not even sure if possible how I imagine - adjust the lion profile by adding another table if mutation is present to show both genetics - right side is from father, left side from mother, to make it easier just copy 100% of each parent’s looks onto respectable half (unless possible, just have normal bred looks). When bred, this lion would pass only one half of the genetics (randomly picked by script). Method 2 - easy for coding, fast to implement. Make for example 10 versions of each half show up like Achromia - covering the original picture with a random half on top of the lineart. The genetics and markings show in a normal way on the original art, and the chimera half is just separate and not affecting gameplay. If bred, only the actual information passes, and the chimera half would not. Method 3 - create a "shadow" lion, hidden on the account, that acts as 2nd set of the Chimerism genetics. While breeding, the script picks one of the two lions, either main or shadow. The "shadow" genetics could be viewable via a special button click. We're probably not able to add another lion info chart on the lion's page just for this mutation. Summary: We're thinking. It's a lot of work. Not anytime soon. :( SpoilersPhocomelia - Full design Progeria - Concepts Hairless - Concept Brachycephaly - Concept Note: I might update this from time to time |

Rejected Mutations Well, a right for me as a game dev is to reject some ideas based on complexity, not matching Lioden's concepts of mutation's realisms or any other reason. I MIGHT revise some of those as lethals if needed. Third Eye - too fantasy Crooked Tail - it's a broken tail, not a mutation Earless - aside from maybe accepting this as a lethal, the infections caused by parasites getting in would kill such lion Lykoi - that's a cat breed Short Spine Syndrome - I do not see this cub surviving, so either a lethal or just a reject 13 players like this post! hmm i was thinking after looking at the mutations in this thread maybe a double muscled mutation it could have a slight strength boost for the lion's stats cuz this mutation isnt lethal the dog that has this mutation is actually really strong and shows no signs of damage from it her name is wendy the whippet i could start a thread about it 0 players like this post! LOVE the ideas, but personally, I dislike Ear Tufts - we now have an event decor, and it's not really that special, just a little fur. 2 players like this post! Like? |

Xylax (#4) But earless, if you wanna make it lethal. Than why don't you? I am perfectly fine with this. I am not sure about the others, but i suspect that they are to. 0 players like this post! Like? |

What about a Janis mutation? Its like the cat, Frank and Louie (who was lucky enough to survive so long). I think that given that Frank and Louie managed to survive, (if this mutation was put into place) there might be a very very small chance of it surviving, but I guess maybe not (after all, any Janis cats that have survived were under close supervision and care, but I dunno, another idea either way) 0 players like this post! If you need another view of the syndactyly mutation in cats, since I know they are hard to come by, here is a picture that I took of a kitten in a shelter with syndactyly present on one foot. (Her other foot is normal - just curled back so you can't really see it in this photo. And yes, she was happily adopted!) 2 players like this post! Like? I feel like I must say this....but the short spine lions could survive! Before Pig the Dog came into the spotlight there were feral dogs in South Africa with this bizarre mutation. I'm not really voting for or against it but... They'd live, definitely not thrive (stat reduction? hunt failure?) but live. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Anencephaly could be a lethal mutation, it's very disturbing though, perhaps too much. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Clawless makes no sense. Why would a lion die early? They could be fed and protected by other members of the pride, unless the death is accidental. 0 players like this post! Like? |

That's not usually how prides work. You have to be a part of the pride/help hunt ect. A clawless lion won't do well or live very long and a pride won't support a weak link for very long if at all. 0 players like this post! Like? |

No. All lions don't hunt. Some stay home and watch the cubs and those lions have just as much right to any food or protection as any other. It's the benefit of being a social animal. 0 players like this post! Like? |
