Masters. They have been around for many years, keeping out of the eyes of the human. To humans, a Master appears as any other human being. They simply have powers beyond those of normal humans. Then, Masters were discovered many, many years ago. Because of this, they were each given an animal to protect them once powers developed. This animal was called a Guardian. These Guardian's are always larger than their normal counterparts unless the animal is already fairly large as normal. Masters and Guardians were each given a crystal that matched. This was their connection; Masters and Guardians can speak to each other. But no Master can speak to a Guardian that is not his own, but Guardians can understand all humans.
Shortly after the creating of the Guardians, different schools were made. Just a few in the entire country. Here Masters trained to better their powers, and learn to fight with their Guardian in battle. But, again the humans found the Masters. Much was done to conceal their identities, but nothing worked. The government waged war. All schools were set to be destroyed. The government succeeded. In most schools, everyone was killed. But at one, two Masters and two Guardians made it out alive. This is their journey.

Adysin watched as Ryder pulled her dagger out and hold it with one hand while the other one was controlling the water. Walking around her, Adysin came to a halt behind her and reached her hands out to her shoulders. She guided her shoulders back so that she stood more square and then walked to her side, where she bent her arm in a way that left the elbow more free and fluid. "Everything comes from the hips and the elbows. Especially for what I'm about to teach you." she said, her voice taking the tone of an instructor. Adysin then walked around to her back again and slid her hands from her hips to her legs, where she coaxed them to stand slightly father apart, so that they were about the distance of her shoulders. Whoever had taught her the basics had taught her well, but Adysin knew from experience that a slightly wider stance gave her more balance and control over the blade or other weapon she was using. A soft blush came to her cheeks when she realized their proximity and took a step back. She walked to her front and said, "Okay, now try attacking me with the water." she said, releasing her sword from its hilt. The point of having her attack her was to demonstrate that water, by itself could not be used as a weapon, as it had no central force or focal point.

Ryder stood still and Adysin's hands roamed over her body pushing her this way and that, slightly changing her stance.
Ryder allowed herself to be moved, giving no resistance to Adysin. She could feel her skin tingle where Adysin placed her hands but forced the thoughts from her mind when Adysin was stood in front of her again. Attack her? Ryder nodded, she could do that. Ryder took a moment to focus herself. After just a second, she lashed out with the water,
aiming the stream of water to slash across Adysin's body. The water swirled and held its form in a narrow stream, bending to Ryder's wish. Ryder kept the water attached to the dagger and moved the blade along with it. Though the movement and force came mostly from her water.

Seeing the narrow whip come towards her, Adysin used her sword to cut through the water, having half of it fall down to the ground. "That attack was weak, but it was good for my example." she stated, shifting her position back into defense. "Do that again, but this time move with the water and don't let the water get so long. Keep it shorter, that way there will be more force with it." Adysin had no doubt that she was good at water bending, but now that she was using the dagger, it was a different matter. She would have to move more fluid, in other words, move like the water. To make a point, Adysin demonstrated a few moves with the sword and how she moved with the weapon, rather than go against it. She swung the sword over her head and pretended that she was slicing her enemies in half, changing her angle each time. A few times she came from the left and other times she came from the right, with such precision that if there had been an opponent, his guts would be spilling. Throughout all her demonstrating, she moved her feet and bended her body, depending on which side she was striking from. With the fluid motion, she could get more strength and control it better, having it hit home exactly where she wanted it to hit. "Really makes a difference." she added, after she stopped demonstrating and stood in her defense stance again. "Attack me again." she commanded, ready to see if she took her advice.

Ryder scrambled to quickly catch the water that Adysin had sliced off. Ryder frowned at the water but looked back up as Adysin started to talk again. Ryder watched in awe as Adysin moved in such a fluid way. Moving her head, Ryder followed and every move of Adysin's. he took note of how she moved her arms this way and that. Of how she shifted her body weight each time. By the time she was finished, Ryder found herself ready to try again. She wanted to move the way Adysin did! So, she started over. The water retreated back into the blade with a flick of her hand. Ryder placed her feet and elbows as Adysin had instructed her the first time. She was making sure to take every piece of advice into account. After all... Adysin was a much better fighter than Ryder was. Ryder allowed the water to flow out again. This time, some covered the blade as well and hung in a thin stream past it. Though Ryder didn't let it flow far. Ryder stepped forward, moving with the blade and the water, the three acting as one. The focus was clear on her face as she struck out at Adysin. This time, she kept in mind that she was attacking with the dagger and not just the water. The forced herself to think of the dagger and water as one. Her strike was as fluid as the water sloshing in the hilt.

Although Adysin could still dodge the attack, the improvement that Ryder had made was still noticeable. She had actually followed her instructions and it seemed to have worked for her. Adysin smiled and nodded her head in approval, "Good. That was better." she congratulated her. It wasn't hard to tell that she was inexperienced, perhaps that was the reason she had hid when the attacks began. If she hadn't, who knew if she would be standing in front of her right now. Probably not. "Now do that over and over again, changing your attack each time so that you really become used to using the water and the dagger as one item." she instructed, walking around her in a large circle. Her motions had been more fluid and she had gone with the weapon, rather than standing still and just flicking it. That was a thing that Adysin had struggled with in the beginning. She had been rooted in place, but as her confidence in herself grew, so did her willingness to move her body. Of course, that confidence didn't extend itself everywhere, but that wasn't the point. Before she would have Ryder move onto the next step, she needed to be sure that Ryder had this part relatively down. Of course over the next few days she would continue to instruct her on little things, but today was going to be semi-easy. However, there was no chance Adysin was letting Ryder get away with not breaking a sweat.

Ryder brightened under Adysin's praise. She only faltered a little when told to keep doing the same attack. But she nodded anyway. As Adysin started to walk the circle, Ryder went back to her movements. Each time, she started from the beginning. Back in the stance, she was shown, water back into the dagger, water back out, focus on the movements, and finally slashing forward. Each time, her movements became more sure, more fluid. Every so often, she'd catch herself focusing more on the water than the dagger, but she'd shake herself out of it and go back into the move correctly. With each new slash of her dagger, she changed direction; her direction, the direction of the blade, the direction of the water slash. Everything. She was attacking an invisible enemy from every direction. During one smooth turn, she caught the eyes of her Guardian. She saw how impressed the snow leopard looked. But she knew it had to be on just her improvement and not how well she was executing the move. After a while, she stopped and turned to Adysin, breathing heavy. "H-how was that?" Ryder was tired, but she was happy and her eyes were shining.
She felt like she had acomplished something.

Adysin continued to walk around Ryder as she executed each move with more fluidity and grace. It hypnotized her, watching her body bend in different directions, and she couldn't help but think about the ways that she could bend for her. When Ryder was finished, she was heaving slightly but she seemed pretty satisfied with what she had done. Adysin nodded, "Good. Now this time continue to practice those moves, but don't restart from the beginning every time. Just imagine you're in a battle and you're fighting with every other person you see, do you have time to restart every time? No. So this time continue to attack from different directions without once stopping." However hard it may be for Ryder to keep up, Adysin knew that at the end of the day she would be grateful, and a little sore. Adysin had been sore for the first few months before her muscles had the chance to regenerate fast enough. Now, she could go on for hours. A small smile flickered over her face as she thought about Ryder working herself until those little noodle limbs actually built muscles. That would be a day for Adysin's books, because it would make things more interesting. "Okay restart." she instructed, continuing her walk once again. "And when you finish, leave the water out as you're using it. I will tweek your hold and then we will try yet again."

Ryder nodded and started again. She was starting to feel the strain her arms and back. She was also starting to tire from using her power, but she wouldn't quit. Not yet, at least. She let the movements flow through her. Ryder had caught Adysin's eyes on her the first time, and now Ryder moved with more confidence, happy that she was getting more attention from Adysin. Ryder did as instructed and continued on with the move. She flowed from one slash into the next. Her first few moves were a little awkward, but she quickly warmed up and started to slash more and more smoothly. By now, Ryder and the dagger were moving as one. It didn't feel like the dagger was a weapon, but more like a part of her; an extension for the water to flow through. Before long, Ryder had gotten so into her slashing, that each new slash pulled a noise from her. She sounded much like a tennis player in a very intense match.

Adysin's eyes watched every move that Ryder made. At first her movements were rigid and looked awkward, but as she continued to move around she began to move more freely and comfortably. A smile crossed Adysin's face when she became satisfied with the performance Ryder had given her with the added dramatic sound effects. "That was better." Adysin said as she stopped her circling, stepping towards Ryder, signaling her to stop. Once she had stopped, Adysin stretched out her hand and placed it onto Ryder's hand that was holding the dagger. "Next step is to get the water to cover your entire hand. So part of the water will be around your hand and the rest of the water will be out in the whip form. Does that make sense?" Adysin explained. The point of that move would be that attackers would have a harder time trying to dislodge the dagger from her hand if the water surrounded it. It would also make the move more powerful, and in case someone did hurt her, she would immediately be able to heal herself and keep going. A part of Adysin wished that she would be learning all these new exciting things again, but she also enjoyed being the instructor and whipping Ryder's ass into shape. It would do Adysin good to have a distraction and it would also do Ryder good to become a little bit better at defending herself and become a little bit more muscular. "Okay, try getting the water to cover your hand and also extend out into the whip. But don't do any moves."

Ryder stopped when Adysin's hand lay on top of hers. Looking up, Ryder slowed her breathing as Adysin instructed her to do another move. "Yeah. Yeah, I can do that." Ryder waited until Adysin had moved and took a deep breath. She focused on the water that was still flowing out of the dagger. She moved the water back so it flowed over the blade, the hilt, and her hand, going to her wrist. She held the cool water there for a minute. It felt odd to have it covering her hand like this, but she felt closer to the blade with the water covering both of them. Giving a smile, she extended the rest of the water in the dagger out into a stream. With the dagger now empty of water, Ryder was forced to focus on it a little more. But she liked this. She felt more powerful like she could really do some damage if someone were to attack her. Ryder held her hand up, showing the finished product to Adysin. "I like this." The excitement was clear on the girl's face. Even if this constant use of her power was draining her, she didn't care. It seemed to fade away into a sense of power.

Watching Ryder perfectly execute the task that Adysin had instructed her to do was pleasing to her, as she felt as though she was actually helping her get somewhere. When Ryder turned to her and said that she liked that move, Adysin nodded her head in agreement. In the beginning Adysin had worried that Ryder would slow her down and drag her down, but Ryder had proven herself a valuable asset, especially with her newly learned battle skills. "Good. I was hoping you would." Adysin said, "I think that is enough for today, we've been going at it for a while. Tomorrow we will practice again." Adysin grabbed the sword that she had used earlier and placed it back into it's little folded up form. She walked towards Adamaris who had watched the entire thing and Annabel, who was a few feet away from Adamaris playing in the grass. Kneeling down in front of Adamaris, she grabbed the bag and placed the sword back into it. Before she got up, Adysin rubbed her wolf's head affectionately. After she got up, Adysin turned towards Ryder again, a questioning look on her face. What were they to do now? They had spent a good hour to two hours practicing, and Adysin was sure that Ryder would be hungry, or at least would want to recover from her intense workout. From experience, Adysin knew that Ryder would be very sore the next day. "What now?" she asked, glancing around them, trying to figure out what to do.

What now indeed... Ryder paused for a few moments. Slowly, the water flowed back from her wrist and into the dagger. Once all of the water had been returned, Ryder dropped her control over it. She was tired and drained and could feel the dull ache in her bones that she knew would only be intensified tomorrow. She stuck the dagger in her pocket and the walked over to her bag by Zayden. 'Good job with that. You looked good and powerful.' Ryder smiled at the Guardians purred praised. "Thanks, Zayden." He scratched behind his large ear before bending down to retrieve a bottle of water from her bag. Taking a sip from it, she turned to Adysin. "Actually, why don't we settle here? We can get a hunt in, get some food, and then settle down for lunch before heading out again for a bit." Ryder paused to take another drink. "That way, we already have food with us tonight when we stop to sleep." Ryder knew it wasn't exactly the best plan. She knew it would be best if they kept going, but she needed a little break. She was drained from the use of her power and wanted to recover before she started to trek through the forest again.

Ryder's suggestion to stay there for a while sounded good, so she immediately agreed. There wasn't anything better to do anyway, so why not stay here. So, she nodded her head and said, "Okay. You stay here and I will go out hunting with Adamaris. Keep an eye on Annabel." At the sound of her name, Annabel turned towards them, getting up to join them in the middle of the clearing. Adysin turned towards her bag and grabbed her bow and arrow. Slinging it over her shoulder, she told Ryder that she would be right back. As she walked towards the ending of the clearing, Adamaris leaped up to her paws and trotted after her Master. Adysin strode into the forest and glanced around, trying to see if she could spot anything that was worth catching. She could hear rustles, but she could not see them well enough to know if it was big enough to catch. After a while of not being successful, Adysin sent her wolf ahead of her to search for something for them to hunt.

Ryder smiled as Adysin agreed to her plan. When the girl walked out of the clearing, Ryder smiled down at Annabel.
"I'm gonna get us a fire started so that we can cook whatever your mommy bring back. How does that sound?" Ryder didn't even leave the clearing. She simply scoured the edges and found all she needed rather quickly. She made her way back to the centre of the clearing and cleared a small space. Ringing it with stones she found, she placed the smallest of the twigs in the centre and placed down some dry leaves. She then walked over to Zayden and his packs and dug around for her fire starter. Once she found it, she returned to the circle of stones and twigs. Within moments, the first had a spark. With a triumphant little "yay" she started throwing on larger sticks to feed the fire. Once it was going well, she settled back down on the ground near it. As she settled down, Zayden made his way over,
Ryder's backpack hanging from his mouth. He set it down, along with her guitar and waited. Ryder reached up and unbuckled his packs. With a sigh, the large feline shook his packs off and nudged them into a pile with Ryder's things.
He then settled down as well, circling around Ryder, but with plenty of room for the little girl, if she wanted to join.

Adysin walked for a while, taking in all the rustling leaves above her and the soft singsong of the birds. It was peaceful, being beneath the trees with nothing but nature around her. Nothing had disturbed this place, it probably looked the same hundreds of years ago when other people with different stories had walked upon this dirt. The thought of touching the earth where once someone of a different past had graced their touch had always fascinated Adysin. It was a pity that her life had been robbed from her, or else she wouldn't be so ashamed to think so fondly of other people's stories since she hardly told her own. Adamaris pulled Adysin out of her sacred thoughts when she gave a bark of finding. It informed Adysin that her furry white wolf had found something worth hunting. Instinctively, she reached back and grabbed an arrow, placing it perfectly upon her bow. Adysin imaged her stalking along, just like the Native Americans had so many years ago, only Adysin wore much different colors than they. A smile flickered over her face, just like it always did when she was out using her bow and arrow. She followed her trusted companion's sound, and when she weaved around a couple more trees, she found a bore galloping its way towards her. The sight of it's large eyes flaring and the snorting sound startled Adysin at first, but before she could think much about it, her arm pulled back the string and let the arrow fly. Adysin enjoyed the swishing sound the arrow made as it split through the sound waves, hitting home straight through it's ugly brown head. Once it fell over with a squeal, Adamaris was there to pick it up in her jaws, walking along side Adysin until they had reached the clearing again. When Adysin saw that Ryder had started a fire, she stabbed a stake through the bore and placed it over the fire. "This will be our dinner." she informed them, pulling her bow and quiver from her shoulder and placed it on the ground.
