Masters. They have been around for many years, keeping out of the eyes of the human. To humans, a Master appears as any other human being. They simply have powers beyond those of normal humans. Then, Masters were discovered many, many years ago. Because of this, they were each given an animal to protect them once powers developed. This animal was called a Guardian. These Guardian's are always larger than their normal counterparts unless the animal is already fairly large as normal. Masters and Guardians were each given a crystal that matched. This was their connection; Masters and Guardians can speak to each other. But no Master can speak to a Guardian that is not his own, but Guardians can understand all humans.
Shortly after the creating of the Guardians, different schools were made. Just a few in the entire country. Here Masters trained to better their powers, and learn to fight with their Guardian in battle. But, again the humans found the Masters. Much was done to conceal their identities, but nothing worked. The government waged war. All schools were set to be destroyed. The government succeeded. In most schools, everyone was killed. But at one, two Masters and two Guardians made it out alive. This is their journey.

Adysin fell into step behind Ryder, keeping the small girl in her vision. As she spoke with her Guardian, Adysin's eyes traveled off towards the trees. They truly were beautiful, every single one of them. It made her think, what else touched these barks? How many birds made this tree their home? How many people rested their hand against it? How many dogs peed on it? The last thought made the corner of Adysin's lip quirk up in amusement. What a bizarre thing to think. Her gaze flickered towards Ryder again, noticing that they were having some kind of conversation. Adysin wanted to know what they were talking about, but she would never pry. Seeing them interact made her look towards Adamaris who was carrying Annabel. The little girl was no trouble for her, so Adysin didn't have to worry about that. But it made her realize that Adamaris and her shared a different bond than Ryder and Zayden did. Whereas they communicated more with words, Adysin and Mar communicated more with body language and past experiences with one another. It wasn't that they loved each other less, but they both knew that the either preferred to be alone, except in those critical moments. And then, in those critical moments they were there for each other. Just when she thought that their walk would be in silence, Annabel spoke up, "Where are we going?" It was a question that none of them knew the question to. Adysin looked towards Ryder before she shrugged, "We are going somewhere that's going to make you safe." she said sincerely. That was where they were going. At least, that was the end result of what she hoped this journey would be. A home where Annie would have everything she wanted. A home where they could settle down and be happy, happy and safe. Safe from the horrors of the world out here. "Somewhere, where you can be happy and be a normal kid, my love." she murmured, reaching up and ruffling Annabel's hair.

Ryder snapped out of her thoughts as Annabel asked a question. And Adysin's reassurance to the kid even helped Ryder. Would they all be safe once they got there? She hoped so... They've all had to deal with far too much, snd just needed some downtime. But if fighting for it was how they would get it, then she was ready. Well... she was ready-ish. She reached up and laced her fingers through the fur of Zayden's leg, her arm moving with him as he walked. But she noticed him tense. "Dagger. Now!" His words were harsh as they were flung in her direction. But the girl wasted no time in fumbling to get a hand on her dagger. Her plan was to ready the dagger and turn to warn Adysin, but Zayden had already let out a warning low warning noise. So instead, Ryder kept walking and searching the trees. As she took quiet, tentative steps, she let the water flow from the tip of the dagger, coating it and extending to her hand a bit. By the time she raised the dagger in caution, the icy blade was already formed and reflecting the weak afternoon sun that passed through the trees.

Adysin, just as Zayden stiffened up, came to a halt and stared through the trees. For a couple seconds there was a deadly silence besides the padding of Zayden's large paws on the ground. But, somewhere far off, she could hear the muffled breathing of men and their shifting bodies. It was a skill she had learned while her time on the run. If it was very silent, she could detect small things in the distance to allude to whatever was about to happen. Adysin stiffened then and turned to Adamaris. "Go. Bring her somewhere safe. Don't leave her out of your sight for a second." she said softly to her Guardian. A small growl came from the wolf, displeased about having to leave her Master at a time like this. But, she dipped her head and submitted to her will, turning and bounding in another direction. Adysin stared after them for a moment, her heart cramping with the realization that this was how Annabel's life was always going to be like. There would always be this threat of being attacked and annihilated. But then she reached up and took her bow off of her shoulder, getting ready for any kind of attack. Then she moved closer towards Ryder, allowing her force field to protect both of them. Just as she managed to do that, a gun shot was heard and the bullet came speeding towards them. However, when it reached the force field, it just disintegrated into a pile of dust. Things couldn't enter her force field, but things could leave them. Stringing her bow, she lifted it and narrowed her eyes, trying to judge where these people were. But, before having to figure it out, they were being circled on all sides by men in black armor. There were six men. Adysin picked on and chose a guy, sending a shot in his direction, anticipating his motion and thinking ahead so that it flew straight into his leg. It was a test shot to see if an arrow could actually go through the men's clothes. A smile crossed her face and she turned towards Ryder, "Just practice what I taught you and you will be fine. Zayden will take care of that." Closing her eyes she took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, a smirk was plastered on her face. Her force field dropped and she leaped into battle, pulling another bow back and spotting a place of weakness of the men in armor; their neck. There was a slight gap between their helmet and the rest of their armor. It was small, but large enough for Adysin. After shooting a shot that landed in the guys neck, causing him to collapse, the other men jumped into action and ran towards them. They knew well enough not to use guns, because they would run out of bullets. Adysin tossed her bow over her shoulder and pulled out two daggers she always kept by her side.

Ryder watched as Adamaris bounded away. She held her dagger in a defensive manner as Addie stepped closer to her. Though she couldn't see the force field go up, Ryder could feel it's energy and knew that for a moment, they were safe. But that didn't stop her from jumping a bit at the sound of the gun shot. And the next thing she knew, they were surrounded. Men on all sides. Ryder felt the urge to shy away and hide, but she forced herself to stay strong. As Adysin sent an arrow sailing through the air, Ryder took a battle stance. Just as the men leaped forward into battle, she struck out with her blade, slicing against the arm of one of them. It slit through the material, but only grazed his arm. She made a mental note to slash harder next time. Another lunged at her, but she was ready for him. She had watched Adysin shoot the small space at the neck, and knew she could get her blade there. She dodged the attack from one of them and turned to slash out, her blade connected with the back of his neck and sent him flailing to the ground. That was two men down. As she turned just a split second after her attacker hit the around, she noticed Zayden batting one, he went flying and thudded against a tree, his helmet flying off. Zayden, taking a step towards him to finish the job, didn't notice another running for him. Thinking quickly, Ryder spotted a small puddle. She used her free hand to send water flying at splashing into the man's path. As soon as it hit the ground, it turned to ice. Ryder grinned as he slipped and fell hard onto his back. Her victory was short lived. The one Zayden sent flying had managed to get back up. He ran towards Ryder and tackled her to the ground, holding the wrist she held the dagger with. But within seconds, the ice melted from the dagger and to her other hand. She formed an icy ball and smashed it on his head. The impact knocked him out, at the same time that Zayden sent a massive paw flying to fling the attacker off of his Master.

For Adysin, this was where she was most at home. This was her natural habitat. It was where she felt comfortable in her own skin and knew she excelled in. There was a wicked grin on her face that would have any opponent hesitating, afraid of what was headed in their way. As Ryder hesitated at first, Adysin leapt head first into battle. It was harder to do close combat with her bow, so instead she used daggers. When the first man ran towards her, Adysin was prepared. She took a few steps towards him to meet him half way, and when he swung at her, she ducked out of the way. The men had abandoned their guns because they knew that with their abilities, a bullet would not be able to penetrate their skin. Instead, the men fought with their fists and other weapons they may have. It was a benefit that the Masters had over humans. Guns, unless caught off guard, were almost powerless. Some Masters were gifted with a power that did not help them in battle. The man swung at her anew, and Adysin ducked under his arm, twisted her body so that she spun around behind him, and gave him a stab with her dagger in the back of his neck. Adysin looked up towards Ryder as the man she had stabbed fell lifelessly to the ground. She noted that Ryder didn't seem to be killing the men.

The moment Adysin was distracted for a second, she felt a hand make contact with the back of her head, throwing her forward onto the ground. The man followed suit and straddled her as he gave her a couple blows. It was only when she felt blood dripping down her face did Adysin find the strength in her to push him off. The man had failed to lock her arms so she took the handle end of her dagger and let it make contact with his leg. When he wad distracted by that, she took the time to give him another blow to the head. Her head spun slightly, but she was able to do a summersault like movement and land back on her feet, turned towards her attacker, dizzy for a moment. The man had gotten up again. Anger flickered through her body and she ran towards him, momentarily vulnerable to be infiltrated by his attacks. Running at your attacker was always an open invitation to be knocked down. That was why the Greeks had been so successful military people. They always stood in formation, letting their opponents reach them. When she got close to him, he readied himself to attack, but she was too quick. Adysin lifted her leg up and kicked him in between the legs. When he let out a huff of surprise, she reached forward and took his head into her hands, slamming it against her knee. Then she pushed him down onto the ground and stomped her heel onto his face, breaking his nose. She had some satisfaction watching the blood ooze from his nose as he lay unconscious on the ground.

With the back of her hand, she wiped off the blood that was running from her nose. Adysin then turned towards Ryder and walked towards her, noting that she seemed to be in tact. "These men need to learn how to fight close combat. Always so reliant on their guns." she muttered, shaking her head. "Such a disappointment." she muttered softly. Adysin knew that for larger battles, Masters were more vulnerable to being shot because they couldn't protect themselves on all four sides. So the likelihood of the men to carry guns were much higher. "See I told you, you would be okay." Adysin stated, a crocked grin on her face.
