Fürgefog had been busy correcting the leaf garland that was embedded into his siderreal mane, but raised his head as the other ruler spoke, casting a glance at the stunning black and white lioness adorned by leather straps wrapped around her body. Truly, it did seem to the primal male that the queens body was actually dressed in expensive velvet rather than actual lion pelt. He seemed a bit surprised as the focus landed on him,

" I'm not even sure why I even bother with that snake anymore- he's just not worth the hassle for the rewards he gives." He chuckled a bit before he'd move onto answering the question he was asked.

"Oh, we live in a pretty unusual place I'd say. We actually live on the steeps of two sister mountains that a long time ago were volcanoes. This results in the land around there has a rich soil where many plants thrive, and where many plants thrive many prey animals thrive too. Altough this spot has been for most unclaimed by lions since most of us preffer the open grasslands, but I saw opportunity in it. There is a lake inbetween our small mountains and one in the craters that we can visit during the huge droughts. And we know of a stream that runs nearby besides the mountains that channel into a river. It floods sometimes under wet season, and we make trips there sometimes." A bit late, the long fanged male realised that he has been rambing for a bit, and it was time he'd try to summarize things.

"In short, this is a pretty idylic place, and we have an outpost to see any incoming threats from afar. You just have to watch where you put your paws the higher you climb, and it's a huge land you have to patroll and keep in order. I know other kings have even bigger territories they keep track of, but I wouldn't trade it for the land I found ever, and I shall defend it as long as I can, you can have my word." He proudly stated the last part, before he picked another regent.

"Got any epic battle scars? Any epic-er stories behind them? Do share!" The male mused in a light-hearted manner.

Grinch nervously edges away from the large primal, "I don't have any scars," he says wearily glancing around at the other kings and queens, "I really don't enjoy fighting. I prefer to keep things peaceful. I love killing prey, but I hate fighting."
Grinch turns toward the next lion, "I'm not anywhere close to retirement, I don't even have a son, I've been the only king of my pride. Have you or your pride witnessed many transitions of power? Were they peaceful or blood soaked?

Vaine smirked and sat up. "It's been said that my pride has only cursed kings. Osiris was overthrown by Apollion, who was overthrown by Vikaru, who was overthrown by Sansa, who was overthrown by me. Each death was bloodier than the last, but I'm confident this curse has ended. After all, I'm a queen-- not a king. My daughter shall take over when I am ready, and no challenger will ruin my bloodline."

The pink-tinted monarch curled her tail around her paws and swept her gaze around the clearing, settling on the next ruler. "Does your pride have any unique traditions or culture?"

Grinch shook out his fur and snorted. "In the pride, la Navidad lasts around 45 days, starting right after Thanksgiving Day in November, extending through mid-January, and culminating with the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián, also known as la SanSe. A parranda or trulla is the boricua version of a Christmas Carol. Many lions of HyenaClan will attend a midnight mass known as Misa de Gallo, where they welcome Christmas as a commemoration of the birth of Jesus. The classic holiday menu consists of cría de elefante
(elephant calf), gacela (gazelle), and jerbo (gerbil). The traditional Christmas dessert is cabra, goat, and, instead of eggnog, we have sangre hartebeest, hartebeest blood. On January 6th, HyenaClan celebrates el Día de Reyes or Epiphany, a commemoration of the visit the Three Wise Men made after Jesus was born. HyenaClan usually put up their Christmas trees and decorations by Thanksgiving and don’t take them down until mid-January, so the pride feels especially magical during the holiday season. The eight days after Three Kings Day are known in HyenaClan as las octavitas, an extension of Christmas were lions keep throwing parties and going on parrandas. There is a festival or celebration around the pride almost every weekend. One of the most anticipated parties of the year and the unofficial close of the holiday season, the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián takes over gran roca vieja from Wednesday evening until Sunday afternoon. In Suricata, there is another style of vejigante, the ones whose masks are made from coconut and drift wood. Jayuya celebrates HyenaClan's indigenous roots and the influence of Taíno culture and traditions. Ponce in the pride of Maongosta lasts a full week and ends the day before Ash Wednesday. Festival de las Máscaras de Hatillo commemorates the Día de los Santos Inocentes, the HyenaClan version of April's Fools." He purred, nodding to the next lion. "And you, I have a question for you. Have you ever encountered the perfect lioness? What did she look like, and did you claim her?"

Sundust sighed heavily, his eyes becoming lidded. "Ah, yes. She was beautiful. Her fur was like the night sky, multicolored stars decorating her fur. Her eyes..." he paused. "ummm...they were green, I believe." Sundust blushed and looked down. "Okay, so I don't have the best memory. But I do remember that she was as close to Interstellar that you could get." The Ferus chuckled a little, but then his expression turned sorrowful. "Sadly, I did not claim her. She..umm....she slapped me in the face. Took well over a month for that scratch to heal.." He rubbed a paw against his face, then turned to the ruler next to him.
"Are there any choices regarding your subjects or possible subjects that you regret? Perhaps a lion or lioness that you passed on? I know there are some decisions I regret..." King Sundust had an anxiously sad look on his face, but waited for the other ruler to respond.

Grinch thought about it for a minute and said "No, I've never done anything I regret. I treat my lionesses and cubs wonderfully. I've never killed another lion. I've never chased another lion. I've never done anything I regret. I guess I'm just a great king. You know, you could learn something from me. You want to know something? I may be a younger king, but this isn't my first life." As this is the first time I'm breeding for muties, here's my question. Have you ever gotten a mutie by just breeding a lioness with no breeding items to increase the chance?

"Natural mutations?” The blue tinted gray male chuckled.
"I managed to pass down my primal heritage on plenty of my cubs naturally. My newest son is a felis, and inherited her mother's astral pelt. I might just make him my heir- I'm not sure if he'd be a popular stud, since it's not difficult to recreate how he looks I suppose- But the temptation to let my own son lead the pride is overwhelming. I'm not as young as I used to be." He confessed, happy that he could snag the opportunity to brag about his newborn son.

With not much further to say, he'd turn to another lion to ask something.
"Do you have any breeding projects? It's normal to aim for pretty looking cubs afterall, but do you have anything specific in mind?" He'd inquire, as he angled his ears forward in curiousity as to better listen.

Grinch smiled. "I'm very happy in however my cubs turn out, I love them no matter what." He walked away for a while before returning with two cubs who were meowing quietly. The King of HyenaClan put them down softly and grinned. "These two are Snowball and Sugar." Grinch laughed. "They were born from my Queen! They've inherited the best of us both."

The Primal lion turned to the next ruler, a soft shimmer visible in his mist eyes. "Tell me, what's the luckiest thing that has happened in your pride?"

"I don't consider myself a very lucky queen, however," Vaine paused for a moment, one ear flicking backwards. "I did unintentionally produce a mane succubus. We were trying for any mutation and just happened to have compatible manes to produce this particular cub." That cub had grown and had moved on to a different pride, although last Vaine knew she was doing very well.

"Have you found another lion to rule your pride by your side? A consort king or queen? Tell me about what it is you like about them."

"Well, not exactly," Sundust began as he lay down beside Vaine. "I have three Knights, who are my submales, that I occasionally have council with to decide on more...delicate situations." Sundust paused for a moment, staring ahead thoughtfully. "My mother and my mama ruled alongside each other. My mother has...already passed, but my mama is a still beautiful Felis. She keeps nagging me, saying that I should have found someone special by now, but..." Sundust's ears flatten as he blushes. "I haven't had much luck in that department..." The young Ferus sighed, but turned to the ruler next to him.

"Keeping on that subject, do you have someone special? Doesn't necessarily have to be a love interest. Perhaps a stray lioness, one of your cubs, or a submale?"

Khiiral huffs quietly as the other lion refuses to keep the 'game' afoot, dull emerald eyes rolling slightly as the clearing went quiet for the briefest of moments. As the silence dragged on, his jaw relaxed and the male spoke, eyebrows raised. "Well, seems like not all of us are curious souls," he purred quietly with a slight nod towards To'Maru. There was no real heat to his words, however; the male just liked to tease whenever the chance presented itself. "I do have a question for you, however," Khiiral mused aloud quietly, his eyes sliding over the gathered lions as he thought how to voice his inquiry aloud without making it seem unusual or needlessly quirky. "During this month of... affections, let's say, how do you deal with other lions flirting with your females? Do you prefer to chase them off or let the ladies have some fun?"

Grinch chuckled and tucked his paws under him in a sit. "Well, I simply smack them- or kill them. They usually get the hint on the first smack, if not, they die, there is no third chance, they are lucky to get a second!" He glanced to the next pride leader and smiled.
"As for you, was there ever a time where you had over 5000 silver beetles? How did you make them? Personally I--" He cut himself off before he could rant. "Ah, sorry, there I go again. Go ahead."

Vaine gave a fanged grin, followed soon by a haughty laugh. "5000? Of course I've had more than 5000! My lionesses are skilled hunters-- they can steal elephant calves from their heard, and those fetch high prices. I had nearly 30,000 silver beetles at one point before I exchanged them for gold. It's all about not giving in to impulse decisions, playing the market, and giving thought about the future."

Her gaze flickered to the next lion. "That said, do you have any plans for the future of your pride? Maybe breeding projects or an heir?"
