Hello, recently I was partaking in a breeding project that served not only to further a king project of mine, but also to prove a point to myself. After I had already spent countless amount of currency and time in this project, I found most of my effort was for not. Although it seems to not be common public knowledge, males roll their markings before females, and I think this needs to change. Below I'm going to give some reasons and possible solutions. In the comments I will gladly give answers the best I can to any questions, and I would appreciate if you included below why you do or do not support, especially for the latter.

1. Our markets tank too fast. Male's rolling first means that there is a greater chance of his markings passing, so he has a higher chance to pass markings to the infinite females that he can breed. As I'll explain below, the current system drives our markets for markings down greatly and ruins any rarity they might have had.

2. Males breed so much more than females. A female can breed once about every 20 days. 23 if you don't use an IBF because of the pregnancy time period. A male can breed until his energy runs out, and then again once it refills. This means that in a single day a stud can breed his genetics into 20+ females of good fertility.

3. No one wants clones of their studs to exist, or at least, most people don't. You work hard for your stud to exist. What is the point of breeding so hard for him if he can just pass all his markings to any female with little to no issue (I know there are marking pass rates or something, but most markings pass quicker than an STD). Most people, like displayed [here], just kill said clones. It's discouraging for other people to profit off your hard work.

To me, honestly, it doesn't make sense that markings rolled like this to begin with.

My suggestion is to change it so:

A. (Suggestion from Locust) For them to make it 50/50 chance for mother & father (mention [Here]).

B. Females roll their markings first.

Either would put more worth back into our females, put more worth into selective breeding [IE: This female to this stud instead of 50 NCLs to a king, which floods the market and tanks it], and put more worth back into the marking market.

So far the most popular fix is "make it 50/50".

I prefer the 50/50 chance of rolling. Means that I can get more out of my females whilst at the same time still having a good chance at benefitting from using studs.
Also, it would probably make lionesses more valuable, which is certainly needed in the current market.

Full support!! For those of us with rolled kings with terrible looks, this could definitely help. I'm sick of getting bland cubs just because my king looks like a hunk of cheese; despite that I've retired my king recently, I believe it would be nicer for new players to be able to get good-looking cubs if they have good-looking lionesses instead of having to buy GB and pay to retire their king early, especially if they're not sure they'll actually commit to playing Lioden.

I like the 50/50 chance system. I know I personally get tired of all my cubs looking the same, even when I really like my king. I'd also be really happy to see my lionesses' markings pass with more regularity. For example, I kept an NCL with red patch because I really like the marking and wanted to try to get some cubs with it. I bred her until her last heat and she NEVER gave me a cub with red patch because my king had another marking in that slot, but his onyx patch has passed plenty of times even though he's only had it for about a month. Yes, I could have gone through the trouble of trying to find a king with that marking and studding to him, but the marking is relatively rare and the lioness is only an NCL with one interesting marking, and honestly it wasn't worth it. However, I think making it where females roll first would just cause problems of the other extreme and possibly de-value studding due to the lowered chance of a stud passing desired markings.

About time!
I was the first user to breed a quad skyward quad celestial and it took me so long because my females would never rolls their markings before my king. I almost gave up on the project but eventually I bet the system.

Great suggestion VERY nicely executed and displayed.
100% agreed

None of my cubs ever turn out with any of the mothers marks and fi they do they usually have more of my males marks I'm already changing out his marks cause of the fact that it seems like male markings and bases pass easier.

heck I'm going with glacial mane and glacial body and removing a bunch of bad markings on my king, this is all going to cost me lots of gb but I would like to see a 50/50 marking roll rather than males always roll first type of thing like we have now.

I support for 50/50 but not for females first.

I support the 50/50 version. However, I don't like the idea of females' markings rolling first; I still want my king to have a good chance of passing his markings.

I constantly produce near exact replicas of Wrathos and it is god awful. My king might not be chock full of super rare marks and extremely super unique but he's recognizable enough and I need money but I also do not want others to just be able to have a carbon copy of him. ):

I also have so many girls with markings I try to get to pass on a cub and Wrathos just automatically overwrites everything. It's so frustrating.

I 200% support EQUAL marking rolls for females and males. I want to mash two lions together and have a chance at getting a blend of both in the same cub. ;; I don't want one to have priority. That's the fun of genetics! Inheriting traits from BOTH parents!

I can see this option or the 50/50 one as good though I can see why everyone is leaning to 50/50. I got to a point where I ended up force retiring my last king because he had a cobweb marking and for EVERY SINGLE BREEDING his cobweb marking passed and a lot of the times nothing else would and I would have a slew of babies with this one marking only and I got super sick of it. Now I'm having a similar issue where at least I enjoy the vitiligo marking but I don't want to end up overexposed to it and disliking it like I did the cobweb marking with my last king just because my stud rolls first and passes it to all his babies.

I’m reluctant on this because it sounds like breeding projects such as hard Mode would be at a huge disadvantage. For hard Mode, it’s the studs you rely on for passing marking because you are mostly limited to using NCL and unless you have a ton of chased girls, it would make getting markings into your lines far more complicated. I’d much prefer to see a more equal or 50/50 rolling of both parents markings instead.

I feel like this thread should be changed to have 50/50 suggestion as the primary thing rather than the females roll first since It seems like most are in favor of that myself included which would make it interesting.
