Lightningpaw flattened his ears in indignation. "Uh. No. Of course not. It's like I walk on thorn bushes." He presented his paw to her. "It just hurts. I think I got a rock or something in it. It's annoying; how am I supposed to train with a limp?"

"Is the wound bleeding still?" Blossompaw asked, wracking her brain for the herb she would need. Poppy seed? That would just ease the pain, but she needed to know if there was another problem.

He squinted at his paw. Lightningpaw answered with, "No... I don't think so. It just looks red." He looked back up at Blossompaw, watching her sift through the herb storage. "Is it infected? Ugh. Then I'd have to take time off of training."

Blossompaw scented for the right herb. She pulled out a small piece of a bristly plant and started chewing it into a poultice. "It smells infected, to me. I may have to ask Shadowleaf, though... But I'm not sure where they are. While I work on this, please lick the wound thoroughly please."

Lightningpaw laid down where he stood, then lapped at his paw. Ick. Wounds tasted nasty. "I think I saw Shadowleaf out in the clearing, talking to Emberstar. It might be important, so it's best not to bother them right now."

Blossompaw finished the poultice and spat it onto a leaf. "Alright, once you're done, we'll need to apply this to the wound." She scented the air to make sure she had the right herb in the poultice, and nodded a little. This is one of the ones she definitely recognized.

Lightningpaw was happy that he wasn't a medicine cat. Chewing on herbs sounded unpleasant. He nodded to her and lapped at his paw a couple more times, before laying it down. "Right. I think it's ready now."

Blossompaw nodded and began to apply the poultice to the wound. She finished after a few moments. "Try to keep off the paw for a while. Just don't go infecting it again." She said, more of an order than a suggestion.

Lightningpaw huffed. "I didn't mean for it to get infected..." He prodded his paw with his nose. "It feels a lot better now. Thank you. Did you eat yet? I could go fetch you a mouse."

Blossompaw shrugged. "Sure, thank you." She nodded slightly. "Just don't get your wound infected again now."

After a while Ravenclaw had tested her eyes and her legs. She stretched and walked out of the den. The warrior shook her fur and now groomed it. Raven claw looked around seeing her leader still talking. She needed to eat a bit so she padded over to the fresh kill pile before grabbing a rat. Yes it might be small but it sure filled her hunger.

Lightningpaw dragged himself up. "I'll be back in a second, and don't worry. I'll limp like the best of them."
And limp he did, out of the medicine cat's den and into the clearing. His ears were pricked toward Emberstar and the cats near him, but Lightningpaw kept his distance, unwilling to disturb them.
He nodded to Ravenclaw as he snatched a mouse from the pile. "'Morning," he said, his voice muffled by fur. "If you need an extra cat for a patrol, head my way. I gotta go give this to Blossompaw."
He dipped his head in respect and then hobbled away. Once he returned, he dropped the mouse in front of the other apprentice. "Here you go, thanks again. I'm guessing this injury means I'm going to have nothing to do for the most part so... if you need help with herbs I can lend a paw."

Ravenclaw watched the apprentice and nodded back but she wanted to do a solo patrol. She now walked away and out of camp. Ravenclaw now go to the border of Shadowclan and Windclan.

ShadowLeaf looked around, making sure no one but these two cats were looking. "Starclan has spoken..." ShadowLeaf whispered, her voice cracking mid-sentence.

Head whipping around to stare at the medicine cat, Stormsong narrowed her eyes, her voice a whisper, "What do you mean Shadowleaf?" After assessing the other she-cat, she added, "Based on your reaction, it can't be anything good."
