The basics of this suggestion - new players often don't know a lot about the game. It's reasonable. To be fair, some older players don't either, because of how much it's changed, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm proposing a 'account age limit' for posting in certain forums, namely for posting guides and suggestions (mainly the latter - some people pick up the game very quickly and can help others out with guides).

Don't get me wrong; I have no issues with new players. We were all new once and it takes time to get used to such a large game, but you shouldn't be able to post suggestions or guides until your account is at least a few months old, because by then, you'll probably know about all of the game's features (so you won't suggest features that are already in the game), you'll have heard what suggestions just AREN'T being added, and you won't unintentionally spread misinformation in a guide.

I feel like a lot of suggestions are made by newbies with the intent of making the game easier . . for newbies. Making base breeding easier, stuff like that. Older players often have worked hard to get what they have, and effort should equal reward.

Now, I'm not going to suggest anything crazy like a year, but at least two or three months. You can still read, comment on, and support/no support suggestions and guides, but you can't make them yourself.

Another suggestion (page two of the comments, by Yakyuu) was that it could be a number of rollovers instead of an actual time - because you could make an account, never log in again, and come back a few months later and be able to post suggestions and guides despite actually logging in and rolling over once or twice.

Another suggestion, by River [Lights Off] (#6903), is that if we go with the number of rollovers suggestion, it resets if you've not logged in for a certain amount of time (because when you come back from a hiatus, it takes you time to relearn the game, especially if there's a ton of new stuff).

This suggestion has 177 supports and 27 NO supports.

@MissRufaro
I'm also a v old player (not as old as you, but I've been playing for more than four years) and I completely agree.

Yes! I have seen so many suggestions made by people who don't actually understand the game, and it's rather annoying. I don't think implementing this would do any harm. Plenty of other games have something similar.

There will always be people who make unnecessary suggestions or poorly informed guides no matter how long they've been part of the game, but I think that you're right that a block would at least reduce the amount that is submitted.

Thank you! I think we all have a 'i can't believe that . . .' story with a suggestion/misinformed guide.

Support.
As others say, it's annoying seeing suggestions made by newbies like "increase the chance to get a pon", "give free GB"...

But at the same time, maybe account age is not what should be considered, since I could register, play for that day, log out and than log in again five months later but still be a newbie that don't know anything.
I've seen a lot of users with very low ID acting like completly newbies...

So maybe it should be "number of rollovers" and not "account age".

To be fair to the very low ID's acting like newbies-

Hiatuses happen (I went on one last year due to mental health issues), and this game progresses SO fast that it can be a lot to catch up on.

@Yakyuu
That's a really good point! I'm going to add that suggestion to the main post, the 'number of rollovers' thing.

@MissRufaro

Yeah, I wasn't blaming low ID players.
And of course hiatuses are more then legit.

It was a way to say that account age is not indicative of how much a user has really experienced the game, so maybe the rollover number is better.

It wasn't my intention to attack or offend older users

@Nyanunix

Happy to be of help!!

Very much support. Especially with the rollover number being what's counted, and maybe if they're absent for maybe 3+ months it gets reset so they have to go through some game play before being able to make suggestions/guides again with misinformation or lack of understanding.

@River
Thank you for your support!

I remembered I had this suggestion because of a suggestion I saw to essentially allow you to steal people's lionesses and it got me quite upset.

And damn am I glad I did xD still half tempted to make another primal suggestion but theres so many so meh

im sorry but i dont support this, i can fully understand your reasoning but im considered a newbie then, since ive only been on for a little.

my reasoning... when i first joined, yes i didnt understand much but after a week, or actually probs less, i could do alot of stuff and i knew more than my freind, (the person who refferd me) and i started giving her tips while i was at school. although teachers will still get pissed off at me hehehe and yes some people learn much slower than me. but you have got to be careful becuse someone might have played for one or two rollovers but know quite abit.

also the "new user" could be someones second account so you would think that it would be unfair if they had to wait a while before they could do certain things.

i know i know im too much of a chatter box but thats just my opinion so i wont be ashamed of it . other than that i can see your reasoning and i can understand it.

Perhaps to solve a problem with the second account deal, maybe when you link the two accounts, the age restriction goes away?
