Interstellar was frustrating enough and then Solaris was next to impossible to get, even with the chances bumped up. I vote we never have any applicators like this ever again. If staff wants a base to be rare, just make a raffle and call it a day. Making applicators as rare as Solaris creates a prime environment for resentment and frustration aimed at the staff, not to mention an applicator with 3 existing at a time is sure to be the target of hoarding, which is against game rules.

Solaris, imo, should've been a man eater stud. They vary every 24 hours, between Ruffian and common bases, that would've made it fairly accessible to everyone without hoarding ever being an issue.

I believe that they should never do anything like this again as an event encounter, since we all saw how that turned out. Barely anyone saw it, it was introduced halfway through the month (iirc he wasn't active day 1), only ~3 people got the base and everyone else who saw him got a garbage prize, like 20 dry bones or a UAV.

If they ever do something like this, it should be:

A: A year-round encounter. The rarity would stay the same but make him available all-year-round. (and please replace the prizes with something more valuable or worthwhile. 20 DB for something so rare borderlines on insulting if you don't mind me saying. You could've got those same DB from fire escape or a few steps in explore.)

B: Make it an event stud like you mentioned.

C: Make it a raffle item

D: Maybe make it a raffle lioness.

Supporting the hell out of this.

I got Interstellar on the first day, but I watched so many people get disappointed and struggle to snag it.
Same with Solaris

Seen way too many people wasting GBs trying to get this applicator, only to either not find the dude or get some dry bones lmfao.

I like Dinocanid's idea of making it a raffle lioness though perhaps.

It's a rare base, you shouldn't expect to get it. And how is hoarding against game rules in any way?

From the CoC:

"Do not attempt to deliberately harm the game economy. This includes, but is not limited to:
Attempting to monopolize all available items of a single type."

If they happen to earn them via the event, then yes I'm sorry but they are allowed to use them however they want. There are already kings out there with Solaris, if you want the base so badly then breed it and if you don't want to put the effort in for that then don't. All I'm saying is that it's a base that you can breed if you need, and can be applied if you're lucky enough to find one or have enough to buy one. Nothing is a given, and I personally enjoy the small chance of getting something rare from something as simple as exploring. It helps newbies and older players alike.

Who said anything about them not being able to use what they earned? We're clearly talking about monopolies here.

We're not saying that everyone should've gotten the base, but there were several things that did not work for this encounter:

-It was so rare, you could explore all day every day from the moment he was released and never see him once.

-Seeing the mysterious stranger does not equal getting solaris. You're more likely to get another prize, and those common prizes are garbage for something so rare. It's about a 0.5% chance of seeing him in the first place, and a 1% chance of getting the base. I'm not saying solaris should be his only drop, but make the other prizes worthwhile for such a rare encounter. (If you got 3 gold beetles in a row in the slot machine, you cannot tell me you would be happy if it gave you a zebra carcass)

-He was introduced halfway through the month. Which means you had about 2 and a half weeks to even see him. I didn't say get solaris, see him.

-Your chances of breeding in the base are even rarer than seeing the mysterious stranger. So "just breed one in!" isn't much better. Getting bases through breeding is like finding a needle in a haystack, but I'm not going to go into all of that here

-I'm not mad I didn't get solaris, it's that I didn't even see the stranger . If I saw the stranger and got something worthwhile like a crunchy worm or dove feast or something then I wouldn't complain. Not only are your chances of even seeing him almost nonexistent, if you do see him you'll most likely basically get nothing. That's the big issue.

I agree a lot with what Dino said.
I have not seen the stranger once and in my 6-7 Clans, I've only seen maybe 3-10 people get him out of over maybe 400+ people within those clans. One of them having gotten the Solaris app. The other ones having got dry bones of some quantity and one a search and rescue.
Dry bones are nice, I'm not denying that because they help get buffy balls, but as Dino said; Solaris was only around for 2 or so weeks and there's only been about 13 in game.
Whereas with Interstellar there was maybe 20 on the first day??
I don't necessarily like Solaris, but there are people who do.

The Interstellar encounter didn't bother me as much but this one does in a sense that, you can get some practically worthless items like a Search and Rescue whereas someone else could get a Solaris, even though the chances of that are so low to begin with.

I didn't even know there were such bases, or that they were in explore!

Interstellar was a world drop throughout last month that started on the first day, and Solaris was introduced about 2 weeks ago as a world drop that you can get from a lion with a seers hood, if you get lucky enough to not get dry bones or something else.

I never saw the stranger. But the idea that I could was major incentive to explore more for me. I like the idea of everyone having a chance, and multiple people at that.

Having been here for 5 ish years...I’ve seen a lot of raffle bases and marks be hoarded for months by the winner ( which is their right, they won it and can do what they want) and the base not be realesed again for a long time.

i like the explore bases a lot. Having a possibly big money making reason to explore is great.

HOWEVER
If I had run into him and got a UAV I’d have been pissed.

Keep the encounters ,but give better rewards.

The scarcity of the base was another issue for me. We've had users actively trying to obtain every Solaris applicator that went up on the market, one person applied it to an 8 year old NCL, and another person put it on their rolled king and doesnt have studdings open. Im not saying newbies dont deserve what they get, but I am saying it can be a problem considered new players tend to just...go offline and never come back, killing that avenue of getting a certain base/mane/mark.

At least with interstellar, hoarding was never an issue. There were plenty of players who were willing to stud out their Int boys, but with less than 20 Solaris apps dropped in the game.

No support, sorry. Easy encounters means NOTHING will ever be rare. Things easy to obtain makes the game boring as well as the price drop. It’s not fair to people who get the encounter. Want the base so bad? Find a stud with the base and breed to it. It’s far less costly.

I completely agree with Arista.
