So this isn’t the book I’m under contract for but it’s one I’ve been working on as a side project and I’m hoping to have it published when it’s done as well ... because this is the beginning of the book it’s kinda a bunch of filler it’s supposed to give background to the reader so sorry if it’s a bit dull Prologue: Flames engulfed the palace grounds as the blood red embers dyed the night sky with an orange hue. Screams of those trapped inside muffled only by the hurried footsteps of those who managed to escape the tall castle ahead. The cries of many echoed through out the night leaving nothing but misery and dread in their wake. Yet over the commotion I heard the desperate shout of one of the many royal nurse maids still inside. "The princess ... she's missing!" With those words echoing throughout my troubled mind my knees buckled and I collapsed to the ground. Starring in shock I continued to watch the horrid scene unfold in front of me. On that day everything changed. The day her highness went missing. Chapter 1: A small town, an even smaller farm house. In it lived a boy, his young sister and his widowed mother. Alexander Thomson, more commonly known as Alex, was the man of the Thomson household as his father, a simple farmer, passed away during Alex's younger years. John Thomson, a commoner of the kingdom of La' Florence, was no less noble despite his upbringing. With strong morals and a good heart all but mirrored in his son Alex. When he passed the entire town grieved and since then Alex, like his father, became the most trusted among the masses of his home town. The town of De' Fauna, where Alex and his family made residence, was the capital of the entire La' Florence kingdom. Though the Thomson family wasn't anywhere near rich like the nobles that lived close to the palace. Nay the Thomson's lived on the outskirts of Fauna where the poor folk made their homes. However Alex's life was a blessed one. In fact, his childhood friend was the princess Elizabeth de Capiano Florence III herself, the only daughter of King William de Paris Florence II and Queen Marianna la Fluente Florence I. Their names' were a mouthful in the eyes of their subjects, so Alex simply referred to the princess as Beth. It was a simple morning like any other, only not so simple we're the mindsets of the citizens of the kingdom of La' Florence. For the events that transpired the night before had just been released to the public putting the entire kingdom in a state of mourning and worry. The princess of the kingdom La’ Florence, Alex’s dear friend Beth, was henceforth, following the events of the previous night, missing; not a trace to be found. Alex had come home that night in a daze, the devastation apparent on his face. He had laid in bed for the following hour, his tears became the only thing that lured him into a deep yet terrible sleep. In the morning that followed things started off in an unusual way. Alex is the man of the house and part of his job was to work the fields every morning but today he did not awake to the roosters crow instead he continued to lie in bed asleep as the morning passed him by. When Alex did wake the sun was already past its highest point in the sky, it was early afternoon. He rose from bed and slowly but surely made his way through his room, gathered his things and got dressed in his daily attire. He made his bed and tidied his room before heading downstairs to grab a quick bite to eat. His family home wasn't crowded by any means. Granted it was a home that ranked smallest out of all the homes in the kingdom even for a poor home in the outskirts, but crowded, no. His family of three wasn't quite enough to make their wooden home feel quite so stifling. There were two bedrooms one for his sister Mary, and himself to share and the other being the master bedroom that his father and mother had once shared. Now it was a lonely place where his mother would hide herself away in times of grief. The stairway led up the wall on the right side of the house and was located in the single room that made up the bottom floor. This room served multiple purposes. In the front, of coarse, was the entry way. The kitchen, a small set of counters lining the corner of the wall along with a fire pit, currently empty, from which a large black cauldron hung, and large barrel in which they kept the water, was located at the back of the room on the left. There was one bathroom, located downstairs on the right wall right in front of the staircase, which did make mornings rather hectic but it suit them just fine. The dining table stood at center of this room with a total of six chairs around it. Alex never understood why they needed so many, even now, there were only three of them, but his mother insisted they should always be prepared to host all kinds of company. Alex was a relatively tall boy at the age of nineteen years. He had sleek, jet black hair that was combed up and over at the front and bright green eyes. He had a slightly darkened completion despite being born with extremely white skin due to spending the majority of his days doing field work out under the intense rays of the ever present sun. After finishing off a small, buttered slice of bread and chugging a tall glass of milk a sluggish and depressed Alex made his way to the fields in a mood so damper he was surely only working through his routine to keep his mind off things. 0 players like this post! @RIVAH: THAT IS SPECTACULAR!!!! I LOVE IT!!! So much mystery in the very beginning so the reader is already intrigued! And the details are very lovely. Not too overpowering, not too little to cause a lack of interest. Way to go!!! If needbe, I can give you my email and I can make grammatical corrections for you (like an editor). I’d be more than happy to help you along, dear! Besides some people say they’ll help and they steal your stuff... I’d prefer that not happen to you like it did to me. (The person was NOT a professional, just an ex-friend. Lol learned the hard way) 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 29/08/19 @ 19:33:59 by Eliza Blue (#175874) |

I can build a character but I don't do much with them. Well, except for roleplay of course! 0 players like this post! Like? |
