Decay A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." - Spcai "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black. setting music The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down? Abolition Abolition's territory consists of the Nuclear Power Plant itself, surrounding water channels and a small portion of woodlands. Leader(s): Mercy Beta: Kirtonos Delta: Scouts: Nikita, Healer: Dove Warriors: Quillon, Levi, Gabu, Apate Elders: Pups: Insurgent Insurgent territory lies further into the City of Chernobyl they use an abandoned hospital as their base camp and own most of the surrounding city. Nikita / Abolition scout / Location: Abolition territory / Mentions; Kirtonos. Rutilis and Mercy indirectly. The hound flattened her ears at the beta's words, heart twisting with pain and fear. What is going on? Two unrelated injured pups in one day? Of course, she couldn't say that though. She was going to do her very best to make absolutely sure neither Kirtonos or Mercy found out anything about what had happened today, lest more blood be shed. "I can find his parents," she stated with confidence, the smell of the pup already memorized without even having to see him. Nikita gazed at the black wolf dog before her, studying him. "You could escort me?" She offered, hoping that she could at least do something for this pup. It killed her to imagine the worry his parents must be feeling, and she felt obligated to at least try to return one of these lonely pups. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Quillon | Abolition | Warrior | Location: Abolition Territory | Mentions: Gabu, Levi The large male's dark eyes lifted as his traveling companions for the evening exited the building. He was quick to turn away from them in an annoyed fashion, though as the words of Levi met his speckled ears his jagged demeanor visibly calmed. How can she trust me when I can't even trust myself? He wanted to spout back, though that seemed a bit too angst-filled, even if it were the truth. His chest heaved as he let out a heavy sigh and motioned towards the cooling towers in the distance, his curled tail pulling up over his back once more. "Let's get a move on, I'd rather get this over with quickly. If we pick up on the track of that pup on the way there, let's see if we can find the poor bastard's parents.. or the bear." He swung his heavy frame around and began plodding out of camp once again, a familiar feeling to him. He really only came to camp nowadays if he had captured food or required something from Dove to calm his erratic behavior. Being in the presence of his pack members had become something almost foreign to him and the thought of him possibly harming them always lingered in the back of his abnormal mind. His dark nose twitched as they approached the fencing bordering their camp, the scent of blood and strange beings still present and filling the air. His hackles raised a bit as he lowered his head to follow the pup's scent, noting that it lead towards the forest, a fair distance away from the cooling towers. "We can follow the border around to the forest on the way back, this isn't as high on the list as flower picking it seems." A tinge of sarcasm crept into his voice as he spoke and he released loud rush of air from his nose as he turned away from the track, continuing on his path towards their destination. 0 players like this post! Kirtonos// Abolition Beta// Location: Abolition Camp // Mentions: Nikita, Mercy, Rutilis (mentioned), Open His attention remained locked on the scout, as if half expecting a report of her morning patrol. Surely if they found Rutilis on their portion of the territory, his parents had to be nearby. The pup had been injured in the scuffle, meaning that it as unlikely that he was capable of running far off from them. However, he did remind himself that the pup's parents may have done whatever in their power to lead the attacking creature away, far away...including the sacrifice of their own lives. Moons ago, he had loved someone like that- but he was stone-cold and empty now. His life was promised to his pack, Mercy, her commands, and nobody else. His narrowed eyes lightened in the slightest hint of surprise when Nikita asked him to accompany her on this little mission. Kirtonos reminded himself of Mercy's firm declaration to hold him captive in camp until sunrise, and he wasn't interested in going back on her words. There didn't seem to be a good way to wiggle his way out of this one, unlike his meager around-camp-tasks previously. "Under our leader's command, I have been directed to remain inside camp until dawn. However, for safety purposes, I'd recommend asking at least two oth-" The male snapped his jaws shut when their leader came near, sliding his gaze over to her patiently as he awaited a harsh verbal lashing from the pale-coated female. However, while her words were tense, most scolding seemed semi-directed towards the scout rather than himself. When she mentioned patrolling regardless, Kirtonos seemed to liven up immediately, ears perking and posture changing from something passive to hardened and enthusiastic, eager to prove himself useful to his pack once more. So that was it, then? He was allowed to leave now? This was an urgent situation, after all. Time wasn't exactly their allie. Appearing almost a year or two younger, the faithful beta turned to face Nikita upon Mercy's swift leave, his tail threatening to wag. While the matter was grim, Kirtonos was prepared to jump right into the task immediately and reunite Rutilis with his parents. "Well, then...I see no point in us waiting around any longer. We'll spread word as we leave, in case something holds us back on our return. If we get into trouble, they'll know where to find us." 0 players like this post! Like? |

Tusk||2 years||Female||Loner||Eurasier||Located on the outskirts of Insurgent territory||Mentions: Riko Tusk was just about to turn away, run back to find some prey of some sort, until she heard an demanding voice, under the cover of the varying grass and bramble. She was caught unaware, and it took her a while to process what the other dog said. "Well, well. What do we have here? A stranger in my territory? Explain yourself mutt." Tusk whipped around, and growled defensively. Once she had realized it was another dog and not a wolf, or worse, she backed away a few steps. "Oh! I'm terribly sorry. You're...You're not one of those pack dogs, are you?" Tusk said, continuing to try and edge away. "If not, you're awfully close to their territory, if you didn't already know." Tusk paused. "If you are, could you possibly take me to your leader, or whatever you call it?" She managed to say calmly. The big mutt seemed to be almost half scared to death by the other dog. Her dirty fur was now just a distant memory, and she could barely smell the stench of rats and sewers. She tried to look as friendly as possible to the other dog, wagging her tail, her tongue lolling lazily out of her mouth. As she continued to slowly try and back further and further into what she thought was Insurgent territory, she felt embarrassed, and ashamed as she realized she had been sitting in this poor dog's territory. For the past few times she'd been to what she swore was Insurgent territory to hunt, she had entered through the same way she always had. Today, she realized she was close to the territory and decided to look for easier prey than skinny sewer rats that were greasy and slipped out of her jaws with ease. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Nikita / Abolition scout / Location: Abolition territory / Mentions; Mercy, Kirtonos. Rutilis indirectly. The hound lowered her head at her alpha's words, a submissive and apologetic gesture. Nikita knew she was right, but she had also hoped Mercy would have a little more faith that her scout wouldn't blindly jump into a bear fight. She was sure she would be able to detect the creature before it got too close, but the reminder was necessary when dealing with such an emotional task. The scout needed to remember this was a mission and not to get caught up in trying to find the poor pup's family. "Absolutely, Mercy. We will not engage any fights," she promised, ears pinned back and tail low. Nikita gave a slight wag of her tail to ease the tension and glanced eagerly at Kirtonos, quietly sharing his enthusiasm. If any of their pack could find his parents, she was sure it was them. "Sounds great to me," she agreed, padding after the beta with energy and adrenaline flooding her form. She glanced back at Mercy over her shoulder, hoping the alpha wasn't too angry with her. ~ Daigo / Insurgent warrior / Location: insurgent healer's den / Mentions; Aleksi, Cecil, Daya, Kaz The muscular mutt dipped his head at their healer before he left, pausing. "Don't worry too much about Veira, you know how she gets sometimes. I'm sure you had your reasons," Daigo rumbled softly, his gaze gentle at the lithe sighthound. He turned and exited the den, gaze falling on the striped beta as she sat patiently, her ears perked. She seemed to be waiting for Cecil to give his report, so Daigo zoned out a bit and gazed at the hospital doors. The wasteland they lived in just kept handing them new tasks and challenges, and the canine just wanted to sleep. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Dove | Abolition | Healer | Location: Abolition Camp | Mentions: Mercy, Kirtonos, Nikita (Directly) Rutilis (Indirectly) The ombred skin of her paw pads made contact with the cool cement as she stepped down the last stair exiting her infirmary. She paused and awaited her wolfdog leader's entrance, ivory perked ears accidentally catching bits and pieces of her beta and warrior's conversation. She turned a concerned eye to the pair, fully intending to persuade them not to go. The scent of blood the pup carried had mingled in with his own, but she could quite clearly tell by it's curdled smell that it hadn't come from a living dog. At least one of his parents had perished in the attack, she was certain. As for the other- She hoped for their safety but even her optimistic outlook couldn't foresee a dog surviving such a mauling. Mercy's booming voice caused Dove to falter in her approach of the two and she calmly reeled her extended paw back to it's original position. Her dark eyes studied the narrowed gaze of her leader and her ears twitched slightly as her seething tone scolded the pair. The stoic features of Dove's face crumbling into sorrow as she mentioned the possibility of Rutilis having siblings out there, a pang of emotion causing her to turn and step further away from the conversing canines. "They will be just fine, Nikita and Kirt are both exemplary at what they do." She spoke reassuringly over her shoulder as Mercy approached, a long sigh escaping as if the ease the tension in the air. "I wanted to speak to you about Ru," She says after a long pause, moving to sit beside the larger canine. "I fear his parents are no longer with us. If that's the case, I would be more than happy to take him in." She sends a soft gaze towards the other female, her eyes studying the scar carved across her sightless eye. A pang of guilt slipped into her stomach. Perhaps if she had been old enough to take on the task of healing at the time she could have saved her vision and the beautiful amber colouration of her iris. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kirtonos// Abolition Beta// Location: Abolition Camp/Outskirts // Mentions: Nikita, Open Frankly, he was highly uninterested in engaging in combat with a bear, even if he was of impressive proportions himself. While the shepherd mix walked with confidence that would rival the proudest of lions, he carried a level-head on his shoulders. He understood that they'd be no match for a blood-thirsty bear, especially one that had challenged a mother and father with young lives to protect. Kirtonos had heard that the wrath of a mother was like no other, but that didn't prevent the reality that Ru's parents were likely deceased from popping in the corner of his mind. Regardless he prayed that he and Nikita wouldn't return empty-paw'd- even if Kirtonos wasn't the type to be fond of slobbering puppies, he wouldn't wish the death of family on anyone. The second-in-command nodded to a pair of warriors as he exited camp with the scout, to make it evident that they were on their way out and should hopefully return soon. The male had that infamous shepherd nose equipped, meaning that he should be a reasonable tracker, but he'd leave that up to Nikita. She was the expert in this scenario, he was only accompanying her to offer muscle and advice whenever needed. Initiating a fight wasn't ideal, but he wouldn't hesitate to ward off any pesky Insurgent mutts if necessary. The black-furred hybrid paused to allow the scout to take the lead. "Alright Nikita, put that nose to work. Where are we heading?" 0 players like this post! Like? |

/ Nikita / Abolition scout / Location: Abolition territory / Mentions; Kirtonos / The mottled hound hummed softly and raised her nose to the air, her eyes closing and her breathing controlled. She summoned the smell of the pup and began tracing the relatively clear scent of her packmates path once they had discovered the little golden canine. Nikita moved quickly, head low and ears perked. "You don't truly think that bear is still lingering, do you? I feel like it must have satiated itself and headed back to wherever it resides. The smell of bear has never been this close to camp," she wondered aloud, glancing over her shoulder at the wolfish deputy behind her. / Daya / Insurgent beta / Location: Insurgent camp / Mentions; Cecil, Daigo / The lithe shepherd mutt nodded at her warrior's words, humming softly. "I wish we could say the same. Besides the bloodied pup, traces of a lone dog and an Abolition mutt hung around the area we found Aleksi. We do not currently know why, or what happened," Daya growled softly, her eyes darkening and spine prickling as her hackles instinctively rose. She hated that the situation was so clouded and that answers were not immediate, her patience and temper wearing thin as she fought to control her emotions. The pup came first, the rest would be handled later. The brindled canine closed her eyes and settled herself, hackles flattening. "I fear the days of peace between us and Abolition may not last much longer as Veira's anxiety is piercing. Quite frankly, my own is wearing thin. I do not trust those dogs," she spoke candidly, though her words were not trembling. In fact, her tone was icy and her gaze deadly, the subtle hints of rage tinging her body language. She was ready to fight and end whatever threat loomed over her pack. / Daigo / Insurgent warrior / Location: Insurgent camp / Mentions; Cecil, Daya / Daya's words and rage unsettled the muscular mastiff mix before her, his gaze moving to the warrior beside him. Was everyone this prepared to launch into battle? The land was still desolate and prey was still scarce, if not seemingly more so than when the truce had been called. Daigo had an unflinching feeling that any tussles would lead to certain death, both packs unprepared to heal injured dogs. "I'm not positive that a fight would do us any good, Daya. We should focus on gathering more food and resources before we concern ourselves with Abolition," he spoke hesitantly, not trying to challenge the authority of the slender female before them but to simply voice his concerns and remind her of their dire situation. 0 players like this post!
