Le OOC thread - Link ---------- Dragons have always been a part of Alagaesia's history, longer than any man could remember. The Riders and their dragons once ruled over Alagaesia, protecting and serving its people. Now, however, the Riders have long since fallen - despite the absence of Riders, dragons still flourish. Feral dragons roam the skies, the ground, the sea - while revered, to anger a dragon meant death. Some respected these creatures, while others hated them. With the rise of the new King, the Riders became a negative part of their history - while the Fall was shrouded in mystery, the King wielded it for his benefit, turning the public against the Riders of Old. Now, it seems, the Riders are returning - the world that once revered them, however, have all but turned against them. But something bigger seems to be rising - something has been affecting the dragons. Wild dragons act erratically, they do not behave as the grand, exalted beings they are known as. The patterns noted previously mean nothing in the face of their fire and claws. Bonded dragons are losing their touch, refusing to speak any language and behaving like feral beasts- even attacking their riders. The dwarves have retreated into there cities, blaming the riders for bringing the tragedy upon them, saying that any majestic beast such as a dragon forced under the yoke of a man is bound to break at some point. The elves say nothing, no word has been passed through them for some time. They are there, and their cities open, but every citizen is frantically busy; searching their histories and performing their rituals in any attempt to ease the wound upon their home. Human kingdoms close upon themselves, scoring outsiders and raising armies. They blame each other, and olive branches and bridges alike are burned. Among the disarray, odd creatures are popping up along the continent, bewildering even the smartest elf and oldest dragon. Whispy things made of silver or gold, one second dancing in the scattering light and the next blown away with the wind. They speak no language, make no noise, and have no home, but wherever they appear they leave their mark. Animals and plants alike seem to bend to their will, forming strange beings and pockets of magical landscapes. Perhaps these creatures are bending the dragons to their will? Even the elves do not know. One thing is for certain - if the dragons' behaviors became more erratic, what once was cities and villages may simply become burned, charred masses of what once was. Storyline was created by Reikier! ------ In general, the rules of how the world/Alagaesia works is the same as in the books, although instead of dragons basically being extinct/non-existent except for a small handful, like during Eragon's time, there are plenty of dragons, but most are wild and generally pretty feral. (So villages get burned down frequently because someone decided to piss off one of the dragons and whatnot, lol). Riders are pretty much non-existent, though, since years of living with wild, easily-pissed off dragons kind of makes everybody hate them lol. (Obviously, there will be riders in the roleplay. :)) There are elves, dwarves, and the like, and I think I'm gonna have it so any human/dwarf/elf etc character can be a rider (I know in the books it was only humans and elves, I think.) -------- Dragons (Feral/Wild) -Tigimdarr (@Jamie) -Ais (@DarkMoon) -Hecate (@Msiai) Dragons (Dragons bonded w/ Riders) -Raollinthal (@Jamie) -Bastet (@Msiai) -Night (@SillyHyena) -Jedish (@Snini9) -Zaekor (@DarkMoon) -Wuuthra (@Jamie) Humans -Tirr (Half-Elf) - (@Reikier) -Relnin (Half-Elf) - (@Jamie) -Lucky Wells (@SillyHyena) -Kaezier (@DarkMoon) -Nyraz (@Jamie) Dwarves -Korvaskkrr (@Jamie) Elves - Mialöldrí (@Snini9) Urgals - Other -Tasal (Dragon/A second heart - @Msiai) -Durazr (Shade - @Msiai) Character SheetsView and Post Character Sheets0 players like this post! The massive, glowing stone nestled in it's niche, glowing fiercely at a smaller, lithe silver dragonet. You must, child. The small silver dragonet shook his head fiercely, sadness welling in his opalescent eyes. "B-but I don't want to, Pa." (I'm going to add the character sheet for the silver boi later on, just know he's gonna be big for the plot, hopefully.) 0 players like this post! Like? |

Ais spread his white wings, lifting off and soaring between the peaks of the Beor Mountains. He had been staying in the mountains for a few years now, ever since his rider was killed. At this thought, he lashed his tail angrily. Why hadn't he been strong enough to protect him? He hadn't even been able to see who had killed him! Ais let out an angry roar. 0 players like this post! Relnin slipped through the gates of Dras-Leona and out onto the main road, his pack situated firmly on his shoulders, black hair falling in his eyes. He had managed to steal a good amount of items from the upper district of the area, and he was planning to head down the road and sell some of it for money. He had been situated by the lake for several days now, hidden in the trees - the King's guards had been spotted several times down the road, so he had managed to stay off most of the main roads for the last few days. The King's guards weren't really a problem - the dragon was the problem. He grabbed his red stallion's reins, hoisting himself up in the saddle after he untied him. A quick glance in several directions, and a quick motion with his hand to pull up his hood, and he gently kicked the stallion in the side, spurring him on. The stallion huffed, but obeyed, turning to move down the road and then, after a good distance at a canter, moved off the road and into the trees. He managed to find his makeshift shelter quickly, dismounting and tying his stallion to a nearby tree. As he reached down to wash his hands in the Leona Lake, a rustle and a nervous whinny caught his attention. Hand on his sword, he turned, only to be blinded by the sparkling light of blue and green scales. He smiled as the young dragon emerged from the trees, his horse shying away with a wild look in his eyes. The dragon had grown quite a bit within a day - he knew from reading that dragons grew fast, but he didn't know they grew that fast. "You've grown." He pointed out as it approached. It seemed to give him a smug smile, walking up towards him. It pressed its snout into his hand, and he reciprocated, giving its snout a rub. A few days ago, a burning in his hand had given way to a mark - he had never seen illustrations of a Rider's mark before, as anything related to the Riders was forbidden in most towns, but the sight made him nervous, for some reason. He tried not to dwell on it. "I guess you're almost grown, hmm, Little Bird? Not so little anymore." "Raollinthal." Relnin's head shot up, eyebrows furrowing. He turned to see the dragon staring at him intently. "Who was that?" He asked stupidly. The voice was soft, almost feminine, but he couldn't quite place whether the voice was a male or a female voice - not that it mattered much to Relnin, who had an oddly high voice himself. The dragon seemed to roll its eyes, before the word repeated in his head. "Raollinthal. "Rao." "I - is, is that your name?" He asked sheepishly. The dragon folded its wings, giving him an almost annoyed look. "So -" he started, pointing at it, "His name is Raollinthal?" He asked, sounding the word out clumsily. The dragon snorted loudly, smoke rising from its nose. Probably all it could do at that age, seeing as dragons weren't supposed to breathe fire until six months. "She?" He corrected. The dragon folded her wings back up, giving him another smug look. "Okay, so you're a she." She took a step forward, nudging his hand. "Rider." (@me writing long posts lol) 0 players like this post! (lol) As Ais remembered his rider, grief crashed over him in a wave again. He landed down on the rocky ground, staring off into the distance. He remembered how his rider used to stroke him when he was young, and how they had fought battles when he was older. He missed the feeling of his rider on his back. It was a dark night when his rider was killed, Ais never managed to see who was the killer. If he ever found out... Ais dug his claws into the ground below. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Lucky was hiding un the shadows , her hair was up and messy. Before she broke out into a run, a loud crunch followed by a roar casted just behind her . Sliding she went down a steep slope before she jumped down into the water . She looked so graceful before a giant shadow began to follow her, soon the giant shadow now was a giant dragon who had grabbed Lucky and put her on it's back. " Good boy Night " lucky's soft voice rang out as they ended up reaching a rather lage hut . Lucky slipped off Night before he flew into a nearby try and sat down. Lucky walked into the hut and sat down 0 players like this post! Like? |

Ais growled. Every time he thought about his rider's death, his thoughts continued on to why he, the dragon, had lived even after the rider had been killed. The reason was because he wanted vengeance on whoever killed his rider, so badly that it pulled him through his sadness. Ais believed that if he and the killer were ever near each other, Ais would just know that they were the killer. His thoughts still about revenge, he took off again, his white and dark gray wings spreading as he lifted off into the air. It seemed that he was the only dragon living in the Beor Mountains, as far as he knew. Now that he was re-entering the world, he needed to find others, dragons, humans, elves, or dwarves, but mostly other dragons. There were dwarves living underground beneath the Beor Mountains, but Ais hadn't disturbed them, since he had been moping in his cave for the past few years ever since his rider's death. Ais beat his wings, gliding through the air easily and, after casting one last glance at the peaks of the Beor Mountains, started flying Northwest, towards Spine. Since he would pass a city, Dras-Leona, which he and his rider had once visited, he figured he could also hang around there for a while. 0 players like this post! Like? The shadow of a winged beast passed over the mountains near the stream - the dwarf kneeling by the stream looked up, staring up at the magnificent white dragon passing overhead. He knew the sight well - he saw plenty of feral dragons. Thank goodness this one wasn't too big. Despite that, however, he kept down low, out of the way of the beast flying over the Mountains. He turned back into the woods, practically skipping as he headed back home, bow strung over his back and a bottle in one hand. They were celebrating tonight - Korvaskkrr honestly had no idea what they were celebrating, but quite frankly he didn't really care. He liked a party, regardless of the occasion. He reached the steps, coming up behind another and slapping him on the back. "Oi, when does the party start?" He practically shouted, causing everyone's gaze to land on him. "I brought liquor!" He grinned, holding out the bottle in front of him. The other dwarf rolled his eyes, slinging an arm around Korvaskkrr's shoulders. Everyone knew by now that Korvaskkrr was usually like this, so nobody really objected as they all made their way up the stairs, towards the square. ----- Sunlight assaulted the mighty dragon's fiery eyes as he craned his neck, peering out of his cave. The mountains were quiet today - no sound of Urgals or other dragons. Despite the quiet, the dragon really didn't want any part of the outside world. He huffed, a large plume of smoke rising from his nostrils and drifting up into the sky - to anyone nearby, it would seem that someone decided to build a bonfire near the cliffs. The black dragon moved slowly out of his cave, his back scraping the top of the cave. His mighty black wings spread, spanning widely across the clearing. Hungry. But what could he possibly find that would be able to sustain him for a while? He almost snorted at that thought - disadvantages to being massive, it seemed. But he was too hungry to ignore it; he hadn't eaten for several months, and he was starting to secretly worry about how long he could manage to stay without food. He had tested that for the years he had been alive - his record was only four months. He could probably survive for longer, but his hunger and his discomfort had always gotten the best of him. Crouching down low, his mighty wings flapped once, kicking up plumes of dust and making the trees sway as he lifted up from the ground. His one flap sent him halfway towards the sky - the relatively small mountain he was situated under stretching up towards the clouds. He liked to see how far up he could get. One more flap and he was almost to the top, the cold air beginning to give him chills. He huffed, a small stream of fire bursting out of the sides of his mouth, warming him. He banked slowly, flying inland. He planned on flying out to the desert - maybe he could find something to eat there. Of course, he would alert people in cities all over when he flew, but he really couldn't care less. He didn't bother with humans. He was lucky he was so massive - he was basically incapable of fighting with his lame leg and his one horn, but his size kept other dragons away. Good riddance. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Tirr wiped the pig blood off his hands, cleaning up the counter as well. The half-elf was working in his Father's butcher shop, with the ground floor of the old log building being the shop and the upstairs being their living quarters. He hastily wiped down the counter, giving everything a once over until he was sure even his father would find no flaw. He stepped delicately around the counter, opening the creaking wooden door. "Dad! I'm heading out- everything is cleaned up. I won't be long." he shouted. "Alright, son.", came the voice from upstairs, "Don't be gone long." "I won't!" Tirr repeated, slipping out the door and into the streets of Dras-Leona, offering polite greeting and nods to the merchants and the odd occasional guard. Most of the people knew him, as he often ran errands for just about anyone. Not that Tirr wasn't careful, he had to be. Slavers often sought out elves and half-elves, and he had to constantly be on his toes for how he worked for. His father was never completely conceding regarding what he did, even if it was as simple as moving crates or driving carts. As much as he wanted his father to understand he was safe or to have the perfect, fanciful family everyone wanted, he knew how much the extra money or favours helped them and he had no plans of stopping. Now he had slid through the gates of the city, moving carefully down the road with long, loping strides. There were rumours of a young dragon roaming the forest around the lake, whispers by the traders he worked for, who were considering hiring other, stronger, more heavily-armed help instead of him. Tirr scoffed to himself; as if a dragon would come this close to the city unhindered and unnoticed. He was determined to prove these rumours false. (long one oops, sorry) 0 players like this post! The soft rustling of the underbrush behind him woke Relnin up - a glitter of blue and green stepped into his vision, and Rao approached, holding what appeared to be a small deer. He snorted a little, taking the meat she had hunted from her. She was surprisingly gentle, for something that could easily kill him. He frowned a little, looking down at the mark on his right hand before pulling his ratty sleeve down over it. He would have to clean the deer later, when he could build a campfire away from the city. He threw the deer over his stallion's saddle, securing it before looking back towards his dragon. She was too big to carry anymore, and he didn't know if she was able to fly yet. If she could, it wouldn't matter - it would be easy to see her. She stuck out like a sore thumb. He turned back to see her staring at him intently - almost as if she could see right through him. Her eyes almost unnerved him - he knew he shouldn't be afraid of her, since a dragon would never harm their rider, but there was something unsettling about the way she looked at him. "Relnin." She seemed to have sensed his anxiety - he jumped when the voice entered his head, looking back at her again. He was still getting used to having someone else feeling his emotions. She approached him, nuzzling his hand again. He sighed, petting her neck before leaning up against a tree. "How are we supposed to get anywhere, when you're too big for me to carry?" He grumbled as she laid down next to him. "Rider." That was all she responded with. Relnin assumed she couldn't speak in full sentences yet, but she seemed to be getting there. "What about it?" She stood back up, turning her side towards him and repeating the word. "I can't ride you. I don't have a saddle, and you can't even fly." She snorted in annoyance, raising her wings and rotating them. "I can." He sighed, turning to slide the saddle off of his horse. "This will not stay on you." He grumbled, and she just snorted again in annoyance. She seemed to notice his distress again, nudging his waist gently. He just sighed, flopping the saddle down on the ground and focusing on her. She seemed to be sending some kind of emotion towards him - he didn't quite know what it was, but it felt better than the anxiety he was currently experiencing. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Ais winged his way out of the Beor Mountains. The ground below him was turning flat, and sand replaced the rocky hard ground of the Beor Mountains. It would take around a week of flying to get to the Spine. It had been a few years since Ais was last outside the Beor Mountains. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(I'm not sure where to start rping... let's see how this goes) Mialöldrí slipped out of her home, a rumble being her only sign that Jedish was near./where are you?/ Mialöldrí asked through the bond that connected her to Jedish. /hunting/ Jedish rumbled, images of a clearing and a deer flashing into Mialöldri's mind for a moment before disappearing./just make it quick. I Want to fly/ Mialöldrí said through the bond before going back into her home and dressing in her flying leathers, staring her sword to her hip and grabbing Jedish's saddle. It was heavy, due to its immense size and Jedish's large size, but a few words in the ancient tongue made it light enough to carry. /ready to fly?/ Jedish said as she's landed, her silver body shining in the sunlight as Mialöldrí slid the saddle onto her and buckled it /I'm always ready/ Mialöldrí replied as she climbed atop Jedish, her actions smooth with a lifetimes worth of practice. /where are we going?/ Jedish asked curiously. /dunno I just wanted to fly/ Mialöldrí replied before prompting Jedish to take flight, her hands coming to clasp a the her scales tightly, as not to fall off. She was strapped in at the leg, but it wasn't kinda habit for her to hold on to Jedish scales anyway. Relnin frowned for a few moments before he had an idea - he slipped his cloak off of his shoulders and knelt down, looking at Rao for permission. She gave him a light nod, and he began to tie his cloak around her in a very haphazard manner, trying to make some sort of covering so her scales wouldn't cause him harm if he decided to fly with her. When he was finished, there was only a small space for him to sit, and it was very likely that it would fall right off, so he murmured something to her about avoiding flying too high. She snorted softly in response. "Cannot carry much weight." She responded. He frowned as she turned and began to walk towards the road. He hurriedly followed her, watching her tail as it swayed behind her, slinking through the undergrowth up ahead. Her head peered out of the bushes, searching, her nostrils flaring as she sniffed the air. "Clear." He nodded, approaching her nervously. She crouched down slightly, and he clumsily slung one leg over her back. She snorted a little as he balanced his weight on her, the cloak sliding uncomfortably on her scales beneath him. "I'm going to have to figure out how Riders make their saddles." He thought with amusement. "Indeed." Rao's voice had an amused sound to it, and he found himself leaning down and wrapping his arms around her neck. It was an awkward position, and he immediately decided he didn't like it, but it was better than not holding on at all - he would fall right off. "I would catch you." Her first full sentence came through clearly, and he sat still for a moment, thinking to himself. "Okay." He braced himself as she raised her wings, crouching, and flapped them twice. The takeoff was clumsy - it was clear she still needed to gain experience, but it was smooth enough that he didn't fall. His eyes were screwed shut the entire time as the wind blew around him. "Look." Her statement prompted him to open his eyes, and he almost had a heart attack when he looked down. They had risen so high so fast that he almost couldn't believe it, and he was so busy staring at the lake below that he didn't realize she had started to turn north, turning in a circle above the lake. 0 players like this post! Tirr had stopped somewhere in the forest surrounding the lake, so much for not being too long. He busied himself almost immediately, searching for ck Clawmarks or tracks or anything he could attribute to a dragon. His search wasn't fruitless, but it wasn't exactly successful, either. "Damn..." he whispered to himself. The only thing he had came across was a disturbed pile of leaves, which could have been anything, and some scratches on a twisted oak, which he guess could have been done by a bear or a large wildcat. Tirr scuffed he boot on the ground, frustrated, and continued towards Lake Leona. 0 players like this post! Like? |
