Le OOC thread - Link ---------- Dragons have always been a part of Alagaesia's history, longer than any man could remember. The Riders and their dragons once ruled over Alagaesia, protecting and serving its people. Now, however, the Riders have long since fallen - despite the absence of Riders, dragons still flourish. Feral dragons roam the skies, the ground, the sea - while revered, to anger a dragon meant death. Some respected these creatures, while others hated them. With the rise of the new King, the Riders became a negative part of their history - while the Fall was shrouded in mystery, the King wielded it for his benefit, turning the public against the Riders of Old. Now, it seems, the Riders are returning - the world that once revered them, however, have all but turned against them. But something bigger seems to be rising - something has been affecting the dragons. Wild dragons act erratically, they do not behave as the grand, exalted beings they are known as. The patterns noted previously mean nothing in the face of their fire and claws. Bonded dragons are losing their touch, refusing to speak any language and behaving like feral beasts- even attacking their riders. The dwarves have retreated into there cities, blaming the riders for bringing the tragedy upon them, saying that any majestic beast such as a dragon forced under the yoke of a man is bound to break at some point. The elves say nothing, no word has been passed through them for some time. They are there, and their cities open, but every citizen is frantically busy; searching their histories and performing their rituals in any attempt to ease the wound upon their home. Human kingdoms close upon themselves, scoring outsiders and raising armies. They blame each other, and olive branches and bridges alike are burned. Among the disarray, odd creatures are popping up along the continent, bewildering even the smartest elf and oldest dragon. Whispy things made of silver or gold, one second dancing in the scattering light and the next blown away with the wind. They speak no language, make no noise, and have no home, but wherever they appear they leave their mark. Animals and plants alike seem to bend to their will, forming strange beings and pockets of magical landscapes. Perhaps these creatures are bending the dragons to their will? Even the elves do not know. One thing is for certain - if the dragons' behaviors became more erratic, what once was cities and villages may simply become burned, charred masses of what once was. Storyline was created by Reikier! ------ In general, the rules of how the world/Alagaesia works is the same as in the books, although instead of dragons basically being extinct/non-existent except for a small handful, like during Eragon's time, there are plenty of dragons, but most are wild and generally pretty feral. (So villages get burned down frequently because someone decided to piss off one of the dragons and whatnot, lol). Riders are pretty much non-existent, though, since years of living with wild, easily-pissed off dragons kind of makes everybody hate them lol. (Obviously, there will be riders in the roleplay. :)) There are elves, dwarves, and the like, and I think I'm gonna have it so any human/dwarf/elf etc character can be a rider (I know in the books it was only humans and elves, I think.) -------- Dragons (Feral/Wild) -Tigimdarr (@Jamie) -Ais (@DarkMoon) -Hecate (@Msiai) Dragons (Dragons bonded w/ Riders) -Raollinthal (@Jamie) -Bastet (@Msiai) -Night (@SillyHyena) -Jedish (@Snini9) -Zaekor (@DarkMoon) -Wuuthra (@Jamie) Humans -Tirr (Half-Elf) - (@Reikier) -Relnin (Half-Elf) - (@Jamie) -Lucky Wells (@SillyHyena) -Kaezier (@DarkMoon) -Nyraz (@Jamie) Dwarves -Korvaskkrr (@Jamie) Elves - Mialöldrí (@Snini9) Urgals - Other -Tasal (Dragon/A second heart - @Msiai) -Durazr (Shade - @Msiai) Character SheetsView and Post Character Sheets0 players like this post! Relnin turned, searching as he combed the forest floor for the black material he was searching for - he finally found it, with Rao's help, as she sniffed the ground next to him - and he lifted up the torn cloak, inspecting it with narrowed eyes. It would have to do for now. Flying for a long distance would be uncomfortable, but as long as he held on, he wouldn't fall or hurt himself. Rao leaned down as he approached her, tying the cloak around her again before she offered her front leg as a stepping stool. He stepped onto her leg, bouncing slightly before swinging his leg over, two hands grasping the spike in front of him on her neck. He decided to just lean down and hold her neck like before instead of sitting upright - the takeoff had made him slightly nauseous last time - and his dragon moved, stepping up next to Hecate and raising her wings. ----- Wuuthra huffed again in appreciation, taking the meat from Durazr and swallowing it whole. He licked his lips, making a sort of purring-grumbling noise along with it. The sun was beginning to set and the dragon was itching to move, rotating his wings slightly, attempting to rid them of the stiffness in them. He walked over to the fire Durazr had made, sniffing around the campfire before turning his attention to the land around them. He would've thought the fire would attract attention, but it seemed that today they were lucky. "Quiet." He commented, choosing to use one word instead of a sentence to convey what he was thinking. ---- Tigimdarr felt the sympathy from Ais - and he was a little surprised when the smaller dragon turned to leave. Perhaps I have offended him. Normally, the older dragon wouldn't care too much about that, but he felt some sort of...small kinship with the dragon, seeing as they had both lost their Riders. "Who?" He reached out and asked. His words were a sort of rusty....if words could be rusty, that is. He reached out again, feeling for the words he could use. "Who vanquished them?" He asked, asking of Ais's Rider. ------ Nyraz had managed to grab a nearby horse tied up far off the road to the city and mounted it, feeling slightly uncomfortable in the saddle. Dragons were far better than horses. He cursed at that thought, kicking the horse and urging it to start moving. The mare trotted down the road, tossing her head and nickering as he kicked her again, urging her into a canter. He had no idea where he was going - maybe to go practice swordfighting? As if it matters. There is no need for those skills anymore. He grumbled inwardly. Perhaps he would go to Dras-Leona. They had a good pub there, and was always a trader or two who needed extra help. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Durazr smirked, and laid his hand on the dragons tail. “We head to the capital today. It won’t be quiet much longer, eh?” He disappeared into the tent, and returned with the worn black leather saddle. He tore down the tent, scattered the campfire, and shoved everything into two massive saddlebags. 0 players like this post! Like? |

At Tigimdarr's question, Ais paused in flying away. He turned around to look at the larger dragon sadly. I don't know. The sentence consisted of three simple words, but it was still slightly difficult for Ais to send them to the other dragon, because he had been alone with no one to communicate to for years. Quickly after, he sent him a memory of a dark moonless night in a shadowy forest. The white dragon had his rider on his back then, and he was just touching down from a flight when something - someone, tackling his rider and then leaving in one swift movement. By the time the Ais in the memory had felt the pain and loss, they were already gone. Ais let out a soft sad-ish groan-y whine and then snorted angrily as he flexed his claws. Kaezier was preparing a saddle for when he would be riding Zaekor, which wasn't too far off. Zaekor was already the size of a small horse, and growing at a steady rate. He ate more each day, though it wasn't much of a problem for Kaezier, as Zaekor had learned how to hunt for himself. However, Zaekor would often return with a full belly but agitated. Kaezier had asked Zaekor why, but all Zaekor sent back to him were words - ...Hunting...caught...ate...saw...small...weird...silver...angry... Then Zaekor would fly away again angrily. Hunting had been successful for Kaezier recently. He was saving up to buy a sword and some other resources from the traders in Dras Leona. And when Zaekor could be ridden, he would be off, away from his pathetic cabin near the woods. Where he would go, though...He didn't know. Around, he had thought. 0 players like this post! Like? Wuuthra gave Durazr a sort of toothy grin, his tail lashing slightly. "Indeed." He stood up to follow, his tail dragging lazily on the ground before he sat next to the tent, watching intently as his Rider began to fill his saddlebags. The dragon was itching to fly again, his claws flexing and burying themselves in the dirt. He flared his wings out a little, rotating them slightly to help ease the stiffness in his muscles. --- Tigimdarr even surprised himself as he let out a soft huff in response to Ais. "I am sorry." He responded. He could tell the dragon hadn't spoken to anyone in a while - Tigimdarr hadn't either, so at least they both seemed to have the same level of skill when it came to conversing. "I do not remember." He managed to say. He wouldn't say everything - not really. He did remember some, but he was beginning to forget what his Rider smelled like, and now that he was pondering on that fact, he felt a tidal wave of emotions. He snorted a little, pushing it back down. "Long ago." ----- Relnin leaned down, wrapping his arms around Raollinthal's neck. The smaller dragon beat her wings and rose into the air as Hecate took off, her blue-green wings taking them above the trees and into the sky. The sun was beginning to set, and instead of focusing on the ground, he instead chose to focus on the sunset. Rao hummed in contentment at that, banking to follow Hecate. She couldn't fly as fast as him, but she managed to keep pace, despite her clumsy flying skills. "You'll learn." Relnin commented gently, noticing her anxiety. "I know." 0 players like this post! Durazr smirked as he tossed the saddle onto Wuuthra and tightened the girth. After he’d secure the saddlebags, he grabbed the saddle horn and pulled himself up. “And now, we-“ Durazr stopped midsentence as a massive silver shape swooped over them, followed by a iridescent blue with a smaller shape clinging on. Durazr knitted his brows, before smiling. “Are you in the mood to hunt dragon instead of human?” Hecate didn’t notice the camp below as he swooped past, aiming for the massive cave mouth embedded in the mountain ahead. Tirr was on his way to visit Shrondurn, preparing for another lesson with Mialöldrí, when the massive shape of a slivery dragon sped over Dras-Leona. He dropped to the ground in a crouch along with a few young children who had been playing in the street. The dragon thankfully didn't attack or even appear to notice the city, but Tirr still found it odd that two dragons would follow each other like that. He furrowed his brow and stood back up as he watched them fly towards the mountains. The children had ran into their homes and he could here the clamour of horses and people as they spread the news of the two dragons. Meanwhile, Shrondurn had grown. The storm-coloured dragon was no where near full-grown, but he was larger and slender and absolutely more noticeable than a hatchling. He sniffed the air, strechung his wings and awaiting his rider impatiently. The thunder of wingbeats hit his ears, turning his curved green horns upwards. He let out a stunted, quiet roar. When would they be able to do as they pleased, the dragon snorted, he was no human- he should be able to go as he pleased. Tirr's heart dropped. What if those dragons found Shrondurn, or one of the townsfolk went looking and found him. With a frantic glance around, he took off down the street towards the lot with the cracked wall. He got there quickly, for someone in the midst of a panic attack, and scaled the wall with some difficulty, forcing himself through the widening crack. Tock crumpled under his foot, and he slipped- he did not hit ground, however, but the back of Shrondurn. "Ouch! Thanks boy," he sat up and rubbed his back, "But, um, we have to get out of town for a while, alright boy?" "𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘯." The dragon stated through the mind-bond, rumbling something almost like a purr. "Oh, wow! That must be your name, Mialöldrí told me about that." Tirr laughed "𝘍𝘭𝘺." Shrondurn turned his head towards the sky, rearing and spreading his wings. Tirr grabbed onto his black-green spines to keep from falling. 0 players like this post! Like? (Yep, the mountain is more towards the northern part of the Spine. So near the sea.) Tgimdarr's tail lashed lightly before he huffed. "I am sorry, as well." he responded, calmer now. He was still a little winded from all of the emotions he had just let out. He had not expected that to happen today. "Tigimdarr." He responded again, telling the other dragon his name. ------ The smell of..."smoke?" filled Rao's nose as they flew, her wings wobbling slightly as she trailed behind Hecate. Relnin noticed it, too, but it didn't seem like it was recent - it smelled more like a fire that had just been put out, so Relnin didn't pay much attention to it. Instead, he focused on holding onto Rao, muttering to himself about how they really needed to get a saddle. ---- Wuuthra stuck his head practically in one of the saddlebags, sniffing around curiously, when Durazr began to speak. His head shot up and he turned, peering up at the two dragons flying overhead. He zeroed in on the smaller dragon, sniffing as he focused on the shape on her back. "A young Rider. And a fairly incompetent one at that." he snorted, giving what seemed to be the closest a dragon could get to a grin. "I believe that would be more enjoyable.", he spoke, shooting another almost unnerving grin at his Rider. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Jedish watched the dragons as they flew overhead, resisting the urge to roar at them. "Keep Quiet!" Mialöldrí Hissed as she too watched the dragons fly past. She didn't want to attract their attention, especially if they were wild. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Durazr mounted Wuuthra, and smirked. “Let’s go.” Hecate dove into the cave, claws thinking on the ground. “Da?” He roared, waiting for the mental reply. What is it, Hecate? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Tirr scrambled for a better hold, Shrondurn laughing in his mind. "Absolutely not! No flying! None!" Shouted Tirr, probably louder than he meant to. He clung to his dragon's scales and hoisted himself up to the break in spines, just between his shoulders. Shrondurn insisted again, punctuating his words with a lash of his heavy tail, "𝘞𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺..." The dragon knew he did not need to put words to his thoughts, Tirr was already sensing what he had meant. The half-elf sighed wearily, "Let's just... go find Mialöldrí, please?" 0 players like this post! Like? |

Tigimdarr let out a sort of low, growling noise - it wasn't a threat, nor was it hostile. It seemed to be his way of ending the conversation verbally. He wheeled around as Ais began to fly away, heading in the opposite direction. All of this talk and emotional business had caused his appetite to fly off to who-knows-where. His head swiveled, eyes narrowing as he caught the sight of a couple of dragons flying towards the Spine. One of them, a silver dragon, seemed familiar, but they were far enough away that Tigimdarr couldn't really tell. Both dragons were too young and too small to be any kind of a threat to Tigimdarr or what he had in his cave, but he decided to follow, just in case. The smell of dragons filled his nose as he began to follow them, and the smell of an elf caught his attention. He growled a little, puffs of smoke rising from his nostrils, but he decided not to give it much of a thought. Besides, it wasn't his business what the elves did. Not anymore. ------ Wuuthra lowered one of his shoulders to the ground, allowing Durazr to climb onto him easily before standing back up. He raised his wings and beat them hard, clouds of dust rising around them as he shot into the sky. He flew in a tight circle, wheeling around before catching sight of the rapidly moving smaller dragons in the distance. He took off, heading in their direction. "They seem to be heading towards the Spine." he commented, picking up speed. ----- The mountains of the Spine began to rise around them, making Relnin nervous. He had been here before, a long time ago. Tales of Urgals and dragons kept most people away, but Relnin had never encountered a dragon or any Urgals up close. The former had just happened, but he had yet to encounter any Urgals - although, from the looks of where this Hecate character was leading them, dragons did indeed live in the Spine. Rao sensed his anxiety and hummed lowly before beginning to circle above where Hecate had landed. Relnin braced himself as she landed heavily, talons digging into the mud underneath her claws. Relnin slid off of her back as she knelt down, allowing him off, his eyes locked on the mouth of the massive cave they had just landed near. "I'm thinking that a very, very big dragon lives here." He commented nervously. Rao growled a bit in response, sniffing as she approached the mouth of the cave, Relnin's hand resting on her shoulder as they entered. Hecate seemed to be looking for something, but Relnin was more concerned with what was inside the massive cave. Gold. And lots of it. Whatever lived here - or, rather, whoever - was very, very rich, and he had a feeling they would not want to share. They stayed back, far from the mounds of gold and jewels climbing towards the ceiling, the cave stretching out in all directions like some kind of underground city. "Do not touch anything." Rao warned nervously, sniffing about as she kept her eye on Hecate. 0 players like this post! Like? |
