A new lioness is recruited into the pride. Rahu is wary, but her cautious nature makes her ideal for assessing risks and aiding in the establishment of a new den space for her pride. Ayani and Alaryi are unsure of their untested new pride sister. Her coat is plain. Ugly. Gold to their red. But the king has already ensured the newcomer will bear his offspring, so they cannot speak against his choice. Ayani keeps a particularly close eye on Rahu's hunting technique and waits for every opportunity to undermine the new lioness. Roll for each hunt Rahu is part of. 10% chance of failure due to Ayani's pressure. If Rahu fails the hunt she will not be allowed to hunt for the remainder of the day.

Meanwhile, Rahu seems completely unperturbed by Ayani's efforts. She is shaping up to be a fine hunter and her keen eye has helped bring in better prey. Still, Ayani refuses to ease up on the gold-coated lioness. Rahu's pregnancy is beginning to show.

It's been two months. Rahu is keeping up… until she chooses the wrong prey. The zebra isn't as weak as she thought. Ayani berates Rahu's choice. Sure, they brought the prey down, but Ayani or Alaryi might have been seriously injured as a result of Rahu's decision. Rahu is devastated and takes Ayani's words to heart for the rest of the day. Besides, she's pregnant. She should probably be nesting or… something.

Meanwhile, another new lioness joins the pride. Uzuri approaches her new pride sisters with a confident smirk. Her coat glistens in the sun; her eyes dare them to mock her beauty.

Ayani notes her king's fondness of the new lioness and finally relents. The chief hunter properly welcomes her new pride sister at last and brings small offerings to Rahu to show her good will and her hope for the tiny cub's survival and health.

Another lioness joins the pride as well. Kuruka approaches her new pride sisters warily, but is happy to offer her hunting skills to the party in exchange for her new home.

Alaryi gave birth to a single cub. The female was desirable, but due to inbreeding the cub did not survive. 25% chance of death. Rolled 20.
Ayani gave birth to a single cub. Displeased with the cub's meager appearance, Inamayari spared it a life of ugliness and misery.

During a particularly difficult hunt, Alaryi failed to dodge a kicking hoof. Struck in the face, the lionesses staggered and fell. After taking down their prey, Alaryi staggered back to her pride sisters with more than just wounded pride. Blood dripped from her permanently damaged right eye; it's clear she will be unable to hunt for at least a few weeks while the injury heals and she adjusts to life with uncertain depth perception.

A new lionesses comes to the pride. Mwongo refuses to leave the borders, insists she would be an excellent fit for the pride. …well. Inamayari doesn't say no.

Mwongo's first litter was born today. Two cubs. They are both lovely additions to the pride, though Inamayari is doubtful the surviving cub will stay through to adulthood. The younger sibling was not strong enough and passed away shortly after birth.

Jibu gave birth to her cub today. A little girl. Inamayari assures the lioness this cub will yet live. She can only pray the cub is strong enough to survive Inamayari's harsh training regimen as well.

Day 8 - April 27, 2020

[Lore]
Another failure. Unacceptable. Inamayari moves to slay Alaryi. He is loathe to kill one of his original surviving pride lionesses, but he cannot allow such weakness to persist in his new pride. Just as he moves for the killing blow, Ayani leaps to her pride sister's defense and desperately pleads with her king. The chief huntress intercedes: "She may not be able to hunt any longer, but she is strong! We survived the sickness others did not! It is strength! She only fails because she cannot see. Allow her to live. One eye is enough to watch our cubs."

Inamayari's mind is swayed. He huffs, but agrees the lioness may yet live a while longer.

The strange lioness, Wenet, has softened her view on the handsome Inamayari. When he asks her to join his pride, she accepts, pretending reluctance as she rubs her body along his.

The Arena. The sort of thrill a lion like Inamayari lives for. He's approached by an adolescent. V'kai. The boy practically bursts with cubbish enthusiasm. He's outgrown his balls. Ina puts him in his place… and soon meets the elder brother. Ah, now this lion… this lion is more Ina's "style." Strength. Power. He puts his beetles in with this bastard, eager to help his own children succeed like this fellow has.

Wenet has given birth to two cubs. The first cub survives. Inamayari decides the cub may have some worth—and decides he will see if it cannot be sold to another pride when it is old enough. The second cub is of less interest or use. Inamayari steals it away and ends its life.

Alaryi determined to protect the cubs under her care in spite of her lost vision. Unfortunately, the best of her ability was simply not enough… she grew ill, and Inamayari took notice. After losing so much of his pride to plague, the king took matters into his own paws. Under the guise of a walk, he and Alaryi left the youngest cubs with her pride sisters. Inamayari came back alone.

Day 21 - May 14–15, 2020

Ayani mourns the loss of her closest sister. As her emotional state declines, the kind-hearted Rahu she spurned so many months ago comes to sit by her side and offers her pride sister a comforting shoulder. Rahu does not what spirits Ayani might believe in, but Rahu, for one, believes Alaryi must rest somewhere happy, with her sight restored and body whole… like any good lion will, when they pass through the veil into the next life.

Ayani thinks it is a little silly, but appreciates the comfort offered all the same.

May 15

[Lore]
Vash and his brother are fighting again… ugh. Inamayari has lost his own siblings and recalls their tiffs. Can't the two just get along and appreciate the fact they have each other? He may be no fan of V'kai, but the little male shows a little promise. Can't Vash see that? Ina butts his nose into their business, but continues training his cubs with Vash.

Meanwhile, the pride grows. Nyembamba's first litter is not a complete failure. One cub was… not desirable. Inamayari kills it. The other, however, has a promising combination of color and markings. The newborn is dubbed Nyama.

Day 23 - May 21, 2020

[Lore]
Does Uzuri's inability to raise cubs know no bounds? Her young daughter, Uzama, managed to wander from her mother's sight. The cub was found a day later—nothing but a carcass—consumed by local jackals.

Inamayari sends the hunters back to the den, unsure if he should consider the failure Uzuri's or his own; he patrols the borders more fervently in hopes of finding the jackals responsible. When he finds them, he will kill every one of them. In the meantime, the mighty king considers whether his expanding territory might need a second pair of eyes… but he has produced no male heirs he might raise to aid him.

…no, he must do this on his own. Unless, perhaps one of the neighboring prides has a young male he might steal. The king considers. The blood of a strange male in his pride? The safety of his cubs and lionesses? …potential war with a nearby pride?

Is one lost cub really worth it?

Attention fellow Liolockers: Anyone up for a brief RP/scuffle and the potential trade of a young male cub?

"Uzama (#794137584969) went on a little adventure. Sadly for the cub, said adventure led right into the jaws of a hungry jackal. It has died. The cub's survival bar was at 53% but it dropped 19%, taking the survival bar to 34% when the cub died. Its records were not stored in your former pride."

A new lioness has also joined the pride. Nyota was found chasing away hyenas near the borders. It was not hard for Inamayari to sway her to join his pride.

Day 24–25 - May 28–29, 2020

[Lore]
It's quiet in the pride lands. No other cubs have been taken by jackals, and Inamayari has been ever-vigilant in his watch. He still considers seeking a male cub to train as he has none of his own… but the idea of tainting his pride's bloodlines with an outside male has him reluctant to act right away.

Jibuya just managed to scrape by with her training. The young lioness is awkward, but she did succeed… likely it is only in part to Vashkartzen's help. Ina huffs. Perhaps she will do better than he thought.

A new face joins the pride. Matope is not a young lioness, and does not offer her skill to hunt. Her lackadaisical nature makes her a glad addition with the cubs however, and she keeps her keen eyes on them in return for shelter.

Day 26 - June 1, 2020

Inamayari feels confident, powerful, after training with Vash and battling in the arena… but he is not prepared for what comes next. The earth quakes under his paws, and with growing concern for his pride he investigates. He discovers a coming cataclysm, and makes decisions accordingly. He discovers a sleeping god, Seth. The god of war will be most fitting—a warrior to face the coming battle.

The pride is growing, slowly but surely. One of the new lionesses, Ekundu, gave birth to a single cub named Inadu. The only male cub born since the rebirth of of his pride, he has high hopes for his only, and first, son.

There are two other additions to the pride as well. The first lioness Inamayari found he first mistook for a leopard. The lioness forgave his transgression and introduced herself as Chui. An older lioness, Uso, accompanied the golden panther. Less striking, but graceful in her demeanor, she managed to convince the young king to take her on, though her beauty could not compare to her friend's.
