She has made some efforts… No, no. That is not enough. If she does not win her place with the hunters, then she has no place here. Unless… does she think she can hunt on her own? If she will carry her weight, then she might yet remain. Perhaps the pride could make do with a second hunting party. There is some room yet left for that expansion. Tamrat does what he can to keep his pride safe, but even with the watchful eyes of his sons and lionesses, there are too many. Rather than intervene directly, Tamrat watched his sons as they circle one another. One will have to go, one way or another. Day 103 - November 24, 2021 + 6 cubs born + 2 cubs died + 1 cub killed + 1 failed litter for Hlengiwe for a total of 2 consecutive failed litters. Hlengiwe has been killed. (+ 1 killed lioness) Ah, some lore after so many "boring" days! [Lore] Hlengiwe, the pride's first hunt chief, has been killed. Her death was not swift, and it was not kind. She failed to produce a cub that could yet match her might, or the desires of her king. Still, for an aging lioness, she had some fight left in her, and the ensuing battle between king and huntress was brutal. The skull of his predecessor, once worn to ornament his ferocity, was shattered in the fight, and in its place, she left brutal scars. The light in Tamrat's eyes has only grown fiercer with her passing. In the wake of their hunt chief's loss, the lionesses war amongst themselves, jostling for power and position within the pride. Some think the oldest, most experienced lioness should lead the hunts. Still others indicate the young are stronger… in the end, it comes down to two. Chidi and Hiwot. Chidi is popular amongst her peers, despite her apparent laziness. Hiwot, however, is ambitious. The two lionesses, scarred from their time as huntresses, seem they might fight… only for Chidi flick and ear and snort. "I really don't want to lead. You're all crazy, you know that, right?" With a curl of her tail, the lioness turns her back. "We all know I'm not fit for it." Hiwot is the new hunt chief. Day 116 - Mar. 16, 2022 + 4 cubs born + 1 cub died + 2 cubs killed [Lore] With a huff, Tamrat flops down onto his belly, sending up a cloud of dust around him. Poachers. There are poachers on his lands. Damn humans. They aren't all bad; some of the humans fight of the others, and mark the prey-beasts strangely… but it seems to keep the poachers from harming them, so Tamrat leaves them be. Normally, he wouldn't mind tearing into any human that had the gall to cross his territory, but he favors taking out his wrath on the poachers, and lets the respectful ones be for now. "My king?" Tamrat's scarred head turns as Chidi approaches, the only acknowledgment she receives besides the flick of an ear. It is acceptance enough, and she flops down beside him. Her scarred sides rise and fall in an unsteady sigh as she presses against him. "They will be gone soon," he promises her quietly, eyes turned pensively to the horizon once more. I no longer no what day this is so we're just gonna go with like, thirteen rollovers 'cause I know there were a couple months I only rolled this account over once. o_o We're gonna say… Day 165 - Sept. 30, 2023 [Lore] King Tamrat has passed. A new king has risen. Abioye, young, skilled, fangs sharp and gleaming, rises as the new king, and as new kings are wont to do, he has eliminated the competition's cubs. After all, they weren't his. Six cubs fell to his fangs before their mothers could stop him, and in a show of strength, he also took the life of Hiwot, the pride's former hunt chief. Point made, Tamrat huffed, and tail lashing, announced himself as the pride's new king. They take their hunters' names, Kasri and Srika, and join the hunting party. Meanwhile, Kyari is too old to continue hunting and retires to become a broodmother. She has served the pride well and her legacy yet survives in her daughter, Tamari. Day 224 - July 13, 2024 [Lore] In his patrols, Abio'ye came across a beautiful lioness. She called herself Chiori. Her dazzling pelt spoke of sunsets and starshine and reminded the king of the strength of an elephant's ivory. Her temper was fierce, but Abio'ye proved himself fiercer. "Of course I shall join you," said she, once he'd flashed his fangs and met hers. She eyed him, his figure, and soon joined her new pridesisters as a hunter. To do so meant she must replace another, however, for territory is limited. In what proved a fierce fight, Chiori took Andivu's place on the team, leaving Andivu in a place of shame, and fighting to maintain her place in the pride. Add a roll to Andivu each rollover: %15 chance of being chased from the pride. Must roll higher than 80 to maintain her place and remove the roll. Day 225 - July 20, 2024 + Rolled 51; Andivu remains with the pride, but is still shamed. Her pridesisters won't even look at her. + 2 cubs born. Day 225 - July 20, 2024 + Rolled 35; Andivu looks more dejected as the days roll on. Relegated to watching the cubs, she's short-tempered with both her pridesisters and their little ones. 228 - August 4, 2024 + Doing something of a hard restart. Shooting for a Maziwa base, so I'll be aiming to claim only Maziwa lionesses for the new pride. Hoping I can eventually get Noctis Heavy Rosette or another Rosette marking on a Maziwa base! Lore Another brutal takeover. Abio'ye was slain by a young, primal male named Shuvai. With a spotted pelt, Abio'ye had mistaken the lithe male for an oversized leopard, or perhaps one of those strange-smelling cats that had invaded the territory of late. He did not anticipate another lion, and for that reason, it was easy for Shuvai to sink his fangs into Abio'ye's throat. When the lionesses disagreed with the loss of their leader, they too turned on Shuvai. They too, were no match for the young lion. He slayed those lionesses which remained, along with their cubs, and took the territory for his own.
