Rumble Markings

As per our last news post, we would like to give you an update on the status of the rumble markings.

We have had a small number of threads over the past few days pop up discussing this marking with comments ranging from dislike of the marking, to the marking making them feel uncomfortable, to the marking having the potential to cause a seizure. We take comments like this very seriously and went further to investigate this.

Today, we sought legal clarification over the marking. We have been advised that we are compliant and meet all legal requirements and there is no reason that the marking should be removed from the game or that any additional warning notice needs to be given out. Additionally, the marking itself was not flagged as a typical risk.

However, we have decided to go above and beyond the requirements and have added a warning to our Terms of Service. This also concerns user submitted content. Users can display content of their choice (within reason, and assuming it complies with our Terms and Code of Conduct) on their den pages, in their avatars, lion bios, topic posts, etc. Most of these are not moderated in advance, and only when they are reported to us, so we feel it is now prudent to include this warning in our terms regardless.

We must ask that if you have noticed any adverse effects while accessing Lioden at any point, to discontinue use of the site immediately and seek medical help from a physician.

Rumble markings are now back on the site and the applicator has returned to Vashkartzen’s reputation shop. We will be keeping them in the second, revised version that was posted recently.

Rather than discuss this ad nauseum, we have made a final decision, and we will not be accepting any new suggestion threads, petitions or campaigns for the marking to be removed or adjusted. The marking can be discussed, but when the discussion descends into fighting, disrespect or bashing of the site and staff, you will be asked to stop discussing it. Failure to comply will result in action taken against your account. This is the same as any other topic discussed on Lioden.

Due to some of the conduct on the site from a small minority of players recently, we feel that we need to remind users of the Terms of Service point 6.2.b:
“You also agree that you will not in connection with the Game:
publish or send any Content (including links or references to other content), or otherwise behave in a manner, which:
is defamatory, threatening, harassing, invasive of privacy, offensive, vulgar, racist, hateful, discriminatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually suggestive, misleading, abusive or deceptive or which attacks sexual orientation, promotes self-harm or eating disorders, involves murder, rape, suicide, terrorism, excessive gore or hacking;”

Chat

In light of recent events, we've implemented a filter in the chat room. Certain words and/or phrases are now blocked, and attempting to use them will result in you being timed out from posting in chat for 60 seconds. Intentionally attempting to get around this filter will result in actions being taken against your account, as the filter itself contains very serious words and phrases that we have never allowed to be used.

Staff members are now able to timeout players for 60 seconds as well, to assist with anyone that is intentionally causing issues in chat. Please continue to flag and report inappropriate messages as you see them, however.

Along with this chat update, we have also implemented a way for players to disable the visual ping effects. You can find this toggle under the gear settings in chat. This toggle is stored to your account and carries over through devices. You can turn on and turn off ping effects as necessary.

Admin Edit: Main Chat will remain paused for the rest of the day. We will look into unpausing Main Chat during EU morning hours. Thank you for your patience.

I dislike the Rumble marking, but other people like it as well. If people don't like the admins' decision and think the site is "disgusting", do the right thing, stand by your morals and stop playing. This is not a game for everyone, at the end of the day—the fact it has an age limit points to that. While I support the idea of being able to toggle on/off certain event encounters etc, I also support the admins' decisions in this regard.

I don’t have any beef with it personally but for me I’d be happy if there was just no marking applicator this month but I realise I am biased in that I don’t use them.

It might be a good idea to add a toggle under account options where someone can just toggle the marking on/off site wide, problem solved.

Genuinely, I am so angry and upset with Lioden and the staff members. Deeply I am disgusted and heartbroken on how they are handing everything. I'm glad to see others expressing their concern, but it's sickening to see how admin are silencing everyone, not willing to compromise, and all downright being so extremely terrible. As a game, I love Lioden, but recently how everything going down and how its clear that mods don't care about the community whatsoever- makes me want to leave and I'm sure a lot of other people. Lioden staff really do not care about their players, saying that they are going "above and beyond" is bullshit. People are having serious medical issues. They do not care. They'd rather cover their asses and put a "warning" in the terms and conditions RATHER than being professional and truly caring about the players and either removing the marking or changing it. Theres so many other outcomes that could have been better than this one. So may better solutions gone to waste. Not to mention how the staff is being incredibly unreasonable and controlling? They paused the chat because people were simply talking about the ruble marking. Nothing wrong, barely any arguing whatsoever. They even started deleting peoples messages that were helping to answer questions about the rumble marking (Yes, in the help chat). And for all the people saying "just leave the game", what's wrong with you? People shouldn't have to leave because Lioden is too ignorant to simply just delete a marking thats causing literal health issues in people. All and all I think this whole situation is disgusting and disheartening, and I'll probably get a lot of hate, get banned/ a warning, or just get my comment deleted because Lioden staff doesn't care about the communities opinions. But oh well, I said what I think on the situation.

I have to agree with Kiri here, the poll allowed only a very lazy and not sufficient solution.

Ignoring the player base? yes that sounds like a wonderful thing to do.

I'm...probably just going to avoid LD for a bit until all this dies down. All the negative energy and arguing in this thread is making me nervous...

Maybe we should do another poll? Now that so many users know what's going on (preferably, the new poll would detail it as well) and why the marking is up for debate, they can have a more thought-out decision regarding the matter. Shouldn't it be up to the community as a whole whether it's kept around or not now that more light is being shed on the subject?

I believe that it was tested and did not come up as a siezure trigger, and I also have no personal problem with the marking. That being said, a significant portion of the user base had problems with the marking and this, despite me not being motivated one way or another (keep or not), leads me to find the reaction, especially some of the word choice and censoring of regular suggestions/opinions distasteful and I think this is going to result in a negative public opinion.

i just want to play in peace; i don't want destruction to the site or whatever, or even the marking removed; just an edit or a way to filter it. not being able to suggest any changes to this marking is awful considering at least one user DID report a seizure.

I honestly really do like the marking.

I think for the best of both worlds it would be wise for there to be a 'hide markings' option where you can disable certain markings from showing up on any lion(if this is possible? otherwise hide said lion.)

Smh move along ya'll. Half the css on the site made by players are far uglier than this marking. The markings is decent. If majority voted it to stay, it stays.

And if something is hazardous to your health, please take care and stop playing, get some.professional help🖤

At the end of the day, the players want marking applicators. and unless the community are going to design every new marking themselves, with no element of surprise whatsoever, this will always be a risk with marking applicators. life isn't perfect.

I'm shocked there's so many people who are being upset about the Rumble marking. I didn't see anything wrong with it? I'm glad it was sorted out.
