the cleft palate dies due to malnourishment since it can't drink the milk due to it spilling BUt the "Gooder" the personality is the higher the chance of her covering the cleft so the cleftie can drink. with good being the highest at 100% and evil is the lowest at 0.1%.

i think you are fundamentally misunderstanding what this mutation is. a palate is the hard part on the roof of your mouth. it has a gap in it. a cleft lip is a different thing, but it's not that weird when they appear together. the kitten doesn't have a severe cleft lip, if one at all.

Exactly that, if it was just the lip it would be called "Cleft Lip" which is different entirely, the palette is the hard top part of your mouth, which OP seems to have skipped over in my very first comment.

if you’re looking for a lion with the cleft lip decal, theres a custom decor that can grant that. but all together, no support. all lethal mutationss are heart breaking, yes, but they’re lethal for a reason.

there's some fine custom decor that makes the sad-looking babies smile and look cuter too, not even adult versions. its not the solution people want for adult lethals, but i think it's suitable. a lot of these lethals aren't like accommodating a lion that's, for example, blind or achromatic—these cub lethals are defects that sadly go deeper than that. in captivity, maybe they could do fine, even thrive. but even though our lions are very anthropomorphized, there's only so much that can be done when you're a wild sparkle lion in the savanna.

i'm not entirely sure why the lethals exist in the first place, but they're here, so.

personally, i like lethals if i breed them. I wouldnt pay for them, but they have unique lineart, some of which I like. A lot of other people do as well otherwise I doubt they would exist.

yeah, i get the appeal in theory. i even like some of the lethals like two-headed and siren, but those linearts are like, the only ones that don't come out looking sad. i just find the concept of sad baby trophies a little strange, is all. an attempt to add realism i guess? but like i said, they're here, and i don't think these living ones are going to happen. at least, not until they power through everything they're backed up on art-wise, which... might be a while.

It is defiantely personal oppinion! But i highly doubt lioden will create living ones either. It just doesnt make sense, and personally, if they are gonna create an entire adult version, that simply doesnt make them lethal anymore and they will lose their mening.

I would really rather the artists work on what they've been promising for actual years that would affect a large population of players, rather than the tiniest most minute corner of mutations that people might not even want to live. Someone just needs to make custom decor.

No support, as someone with a cleft lip and pallet it just doesn't seem right. I like it how it is, a lion in nature with cleft pallet would die. Because the lion does not have a vet to fix it's mouth, and personality should have nothing to do with it. Most babies with cleft lip even have issue and some die, I've even had issues as a baby feeding and the only way I was able to eat was with a cut up baby bottle until my surgery.

0 support.

EDIT:
And to add on, surgery doesn't even fix it. I still have a hole in the roof of my mouth making me unable to drink from straws and have some foods, I can't breathe properly either. So even if it was possible for this to work, it wouldn't.

Reading some of the other comments, I have more to say.

There is physically no way other than a surgery to "fix" this issue. A lion cannot simply put it's paw in the cubs mouth, or on the lips, it does not work. That will not "close" the cleft, it only makes the breathing worse. Another reason clefties in animals don't live long without medical treatment is breathing issues, even in humans it's hard to breath (Coming from someone who has cleft, their parent has cleft and their uncle has cleft. along with meeting various other clefties irl.). The photo posted on page one is a decent example but there is cleft worse, examples, some are born without the roof of their mouth.

While I understand other people not liking the lethals, the only reason I hate the cleft lethal being here is people romantiazing it, and the whole idea of "fixing" it and personality things added to it.

Honestly if someone doesn't like lethals, just don't breed them. And if yoy happen to breed them sell them.

I don't think this game needs more creativity in terms of mutations. I like that LD keeps strictly to realism in a lot of aspects- I like that new mutation additions are well-researched and thought out and sensitively-developed and that they need to be realistic. If I wanted a fantasy game where everything is happy and magical and unrealistic, I'd pick a different game- but Lioden isn't that, this game doesn't dance around uncomfortable things like lethal mutations and put a pretty face on it and pretend it's all okay because in the wild such things wouldn't be. I love the March event and August's Great Fires and the Locust Plague event because they actually represent reality. I love that players can opt-out of the less realistic parts of this game. If you would prefer a less realistic game, that's fine, your opinion is valid, but please don't try to make this game into that.

That's really not the awnser to this though, i've breed a cleftie in the past but sold it when I went on hiatus, I agree with the statement above (Entity's post)

EDIT: sorry if it sounds slightly agressive btw in any of my posts on this, it's not supposed to
