the cleft palate dies due to malnourishment since it can't drink the milk due to it spilling BUt the "Gooder" the personality is the higher the chance of her covering the cleft so the cleftie can drink. with good being the highest at 100% and evil is the lowest at 0.1%.

I know it may not seem that way, but the only reason as to this Mutation suggestion is that it is sad to see them die. Adding on to what you said, there is no way to save them irl, and adding on to what entity said, Mutations in lioden strive to be realistic.

So if people really don't like it, these Mutations are rare enough that you can just ignore them.

If it really bothers people then perhaps their cam be a setting to hide all lethal Mutation art.

I do agree that they are rare enough for them not to be bred, which ideally I do agree if you do breed one and don't want it just sell/raffle/giveaway but I do think that most mutations are realistic or semi-realistic, I get it's sad to see them die as cubs but there's always jellyfish that bring them back to life, and even if they "look sad" there's always decors to change expression and you could even make one yourself or have someone else make one for you!

Overall, I think the suggestion with the personalities and making them live longer is just a flat out pass for me, but I think if you were to breed one and didn't want it you could simply just sell it, plus you'd get a ton of out of it

I think that's pretty much what everyone who no supported is trying to say, essentially. Mutations are realistic, just get custom decor to remedy the perceived issue.

no support for this not because it's unrealistic just because the only solution for these lethals to live at all is regular old human intervention or the ingame remove mutation item. I wouldn't be averse to an event with humans abducting the cub and later finding cubs being cared for by humans in the case of a cleft palate. might be a cool march explore encounter. the cleft palate can be fixed with surgery so that one some humans might be able to help. Either way it leaves your pride by the point they die

Cleft palates cannot be fixed even with surgery, a cleftie player has even stated that surgery hasn't fixed the issue. The thing about the hard palate of the roof of your mouth is that it doesnt stretch or give like flesh and skin does, its very difficult to repair!

Not to mention a cleftie lion would end up at a nature reserve if human intervention was needed..

Leaving the pride??? Kind of defeats the point of a lethal, no? Sure it gets to "live" aka become non existent pixels floating in the ether, but you've also just lost 200+ GB

Edit: sorry, the cheapest cleft palate at the moment is 485 GB. I'd be pissed as hell if that just "left my pride to be cured".

^ Also open to questions and more explaining if anyone has questions or anything about cleft, you can see the posts i've made on page 2 about it

EDIT: The C/P of both posts to make it easier

No support, as someone with a cleft lip and pallet it just doesn't seem right. I like it how it is, a lion in nature with cleft pallet would die. Because the lion does not have a vet to fix it's mouth, and personality should have nothing to do with it. Most babies with cleft lip even have issue and some die, I've even had issues as a baby feeding and the only way I was able to eat was with a cut up baby bottle until my surgery.

0 support.

EDIT:
And to add on, surgery doesn't even fix it. I still have a hole in the roof of my mouth making me unable to drink from straws and have some foods, I can't breathe properly either. So even if it was possible for this to work, it wouldn't.

Reading some of the other comments, I have more to say.

There is physically no way other than a surgery to "fix" this issue. A lion cannot simply put it's paw in the cubs mouth, or on the lips, it does not work. That will not "close" the cleft, it only makes the breathing worse. Another reason clefties in animals don't live long without medical treatment is breathing issues, even in humans it's hard to breath (Coming from someone who has cleft, their parent has cleft and their uncle has cleft. along with meeting various other clefties irl.). The photo posted on page one is a decent example but there is cleft worse, examples, some are born without the roof of their mouth.

While I understand other people not liking the lethals, the only reason I hate the cleft lethal being here is people romantiazing it, and the whole idea of "fixing" it and personality things added to it.

I think you've been very generous with your information! I worked in a vets for a good while and some of the clefts I saw were heartbreaking because repairs just aren't justifyable financially to a lot of owners. Β£600 surgery for a Β£50 mongrel kitten/puppy for example, whilst still having the risk that said kitten/puppy wont be able to suckle anyway due to not being able to form a seal/aspirating the milk if any of their palate is left open!

It is quite expensive, i've even met children in real life who have cleft and weren't able to get the full surgerys yet, it's quite expensive even on animals there is some places that specialize with it and will help fund the surgery both on animals and humans, such as smile train(? I heard about this one but i'm not 100% sure)

EDIT: I have bilateral cleft lip and palate and for literally anyone who is curious or just has genuine questions, my DMs are always open and you're welcome to ask as many questions as you'd like, I don't find it offensive as long as you aren't being rude about it.

I'm sorry, but were you even thinking when you posted this? You're telling me that just because a lethal's mom has a good personality, it's not a lethal anymore? They don't even have game art for adol or adult lethals, so maybe just stick to freezing lethals.

A mom having a personality like " protective " ( or "Overprotective" ) would do everything for their cub to live; what if, instead of the cub dying, the mother dies instead, due to doing everything for her cub, like a sacrifice???

Even if the mother had a will to do so, they simply aren't able to. It is far out of the mothers control.
