Hiya. Since the player boom and what I call the Black Friday MoD fiasco, a lot of stuff hardly sells for what it use to. Mainly lions in general.

I've seen a few suggestions for ways to tie up this issue in a bow. Yes I'm here putting out my 2 cents of a suggestion as well. Lol. Toss spaghetti at a wall and eventually 1 noodle will stick right?

A confirmation popup box is a must to avoid any accidents!

My proposal for lions

I have it as is strictly to prevent folks from breeding more lions specifically for this. The goal is to lower the overall lion population without trashing the chase pool. Like how wolvden has illness only more easier to do. The game has a mass breeding issue as it is already.
There's a age limit specifically for the fodder market in mind. That way it won't be trashed in the process.

what
Adults only and any adult under the age of 14. Doesn't matter if there's a mutation or not. Stats, base, and markings don't matter either. This is to be put in place to help control the overall population only.
(Save the chase pool!)

How
A portal like the celestial one or something like that.

When
Daily

where
In Adventuring under the much dreaded Journey to Vredefort Crater quest banner? Something like that.

Limitations
None. Go wild!

Limitations Reason
This would function similar to that of monkey business only it'll accept any adult lion within the proper age range. The payout is minimal so it can't easily be abused but still functional. Does monkey business have a daily item number limit? Nope. Yet items are more easier to stock up on than lions. (I currently have over 500 full use lion skull burried alone myself.) The July portal has a daily lion limit because the rewards are greater. The limitation was placed to equal out the playing field

Rewards
10 sb a lion.
I will not add to this. It's 10sb per lion only. No shop or any other rewards.

Rewards reason
If you have to turn to a sinkhole you're desperate and it keeps the mass senders in check as well. Also a good chunk of them will most likely be potatoes anyway. Then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A common reason why decent lions can be found at fodder price or just not sell even though it's nice looking to the seller.

My proposal for items

I honestly won't be upset if this doesn't pass. I have yet seen a sinkhole suggestion for items in general. Figured this would be a fair start as far as suggestions go. This would be very limited. Not sure if it should be 1 day, 1 month, or 1 week. Consider this a kind of annual cleaning of the hoard for those with more items than they know what to do with.
July already has low GB prices as is which is why I picked that month as a possibility. if anything this might help that part of the month since there will be a increase in SB.

what
Anything you feel like getting rid of. No limit as to what you can add unlike Monkey Business.

How
Maybe a passing celestial being looking to barter?

When
Maybe July. Too frequently might be a pain to code. Plus it's technically conflicting with Monkey Business.

where
In Adventuring under the much dreaded Journey to Vredefort Crater quest banner? Something like that.

Limitations
None. Go wild!

Rewards
5sb a item

Rewards reason
If you have to turn to a sinkhole you're desperate and it keeps the mass senders in check as well. Also a good chunk of them will most likely be stuff you can't sell in Monkey Business.

I think this is such a good idea, I've struggled with selling off lions/items I don't need or have space for, this would be good!! Lowkey such a smart thing to do

At this point, any more in-depth foddering system I'm supporting for the spirit. We desperately need Lioden developers to throw us a bone here. Old systems and community efforts aren't cutting it anymore.

I agree. I don't mind the other suggestions but I feel like the staff would be more tempted to do something simple and more clean cut. For lions we need something available daily to really make a dent. That's how I came up with this. ^_^

lions at and under 10sb per already get bought out to use as fodder (mainly karma fodder). so instead of letting players wipe cheap lions from the game themselves, you're proposing that karma fodder stops being sold...?

That's why it's adults only under 14 years old. Cubs and adolescents are still fodder. We're able to have more cubs/adolescents than adults.

It's definitely a good idea but flavorwise I'd avoid it just being a "sinkhole", people are gonna be upset to toss their lions into a suffocation pit maybe something a little more gentle, like perhaps a powerful king from a faroff land wanting ladies for his utopian kingdom? I'm not sure

Otherwise this is a fantastic idea, sounds similar to exhalting in FR and it works very well over there!

Maybe there can be a leaderboard feature for letting the most lions go this way too?

That's just what I call it. Lol. Obviously it would have a different name officially.

but adults are currently a majority of the fodder, because cubs are generally more expensive as they can be sent to the enclave and people usually decide to sell their lions before they hit adolescence. as someone who buys several hundred fodder lions every single day, I would estimate that maybe 5% of the lions I buy at fodder prices are cubs or adols. NCLs make up the majority of fodder because they're free to obtain and easy to get. now, if the reward was maybe 1-2 SB for each lion in your suggestion, I'd agree with it (even though it would mean losing out on the cheapest fodder I buy which would suck), but 10 SB is way too much and it will outcompete the fodder market

entomology - I have seen plenty of fodder buyers paying 15+ sb for fodder. So having it offer 10 sb is still ok.

I do like this idea for lions, not so much for items. As some items are used in crafting other items and sometimes those items are only during certain events. I feel if the item one was added, that a lot of players who get items for an event, will just sell it to the item place for that 5 sb just to clear their hoard instead of actually holding onto it for the event.

Examples of items for event Crafting: Gems, all. Several events offer base, eye, decor and background crafting using gems.

Shiny Rocks - Year round crafting item but can't be sold to Monkey Business.

plenty of people do pay 15+ SB per fodder, but those people either have more money than they know what to do with or don't actually know how to buy fodder. I've been buying fodder for years. if you have to buy fodder for more than 10 SB per, you're doing something horribly wrong

I have seen players (older players) paying that 15 sb or more, as a way to get more fodder. Players will sell to the one player offer more for fodder.

I honestly don't mind selling for less, but when players who want as much fodder as possible and are offering more for fodder, then I will sell to them.

Yes, the price of fodder is all over the place but to be fair and honest, paying more than 10 sb per fodder is up to the player. If you prefer to pay 2 sb per fodder or even 50 sb per fodder, that is up to the player. No one can force you to pay what they want, nor can you force someone to sell to you for the price you want. It is all up to the seller/buyer.

If you need SB now would you rather sell fodder in TC and wait for it to get sold or get a instant payout? honestly when I attempted the karma leaderboard first starting out I bred my own fodder cubs and never bought any fodder lions even if I could afford it technically.

Also, as stated, the SB is low so those with a ton of territory can't take advantage of that fact. Same with the age restriction. It's a falesafe for a reason. If you don't want a 10sb payout you can still turn to the TC.

shadow:

I understand that people will buy fodder at any price they decide. however, it is completely unnecessary to do so. if they choose to overpay, by all means, I hope they get what they want out of it! but as someone who is currently sitting at fourth place on the leaderboard for the number of lions sent away, just two weeks after kinging my current king, I'm telling you it's a waste of money. ask any person on the leaderboards for lions killed or sent away and they'll say the exact same thing. if people want to pay more than that, good for them! but there is absolutey no shortage of fodder lions for 10 SB and even for less than that

lunarknight:

that's the point I'm making. if given a choice between instant SB and the TC, everyone in their right mind would choose the instant SB. which means that the fodder market would completely crash, and the lions killed and sent away leaderboards would be nearly unobtainable for most players

You're still not getting my point. It's a thing called breeding your own fodder. You can have 5x the number of cubs/adolescents than adults. As long as you have play all feed all you're good. Cubs and adolescents don't need to feed until they're 1 year 11 months. Play all takes the place of a broodmother as long as you do it daily. The cub/adolescent fodder will still be good since you can have more than adults.
