Ho ho ho! Merry Lioden Christmas! I've decided it's the year to give back! My pons and gons have been very kind to me, and I want to host a giveaway for Christmas this year! I'll be giving away my young Leopon, Brillo, on December 26th. Link: https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?id=794228424212 (She is guaranteed to be below 8 years of age at the time the raffle runs. I usually roll my side once per week, sometimes 2-3 times, so she will remain young.) To enter, reply to this post! Talk, chat, yap away! To raffle this girl I'll be randomizing the page number, then the post on the page. The more you chat, the better chance you have! I'm not guaranteeing that there will not be other additional prizes added to the pool, as I've got a stash and just might be pumped to pop more surprise raffle options on, just for grins. As I have hybrids aging out of breeding, I may toss in additional frozen hybrid raffle prizes, as they won't do me any good sitting in my dynasty <3 No payment needed, just chat away! Share family memories, talk about your projects, tell me about your goals, anything! Have a conversation and get to know your fellow liodenners! Spam is not permitted, nor is harassment of the winner! If the winner does not respond in 48 hours, the raffle will generate a new winner! Raffle ends: December 26th If we reach 100 pages, an older hybrid is guaranteed to be added! Other additions to come! 19 players like this post! Like? I’ve only read the first book of Game of Thrones when I was in 7th grade. Not sure how on earth I didn’t earn trauma from it :_) But honestly the world building is cool (says a “self-taught” writer lol) 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 23/12/24 @ 13:44:41 by Shetani (#461447) |

Also my favourite serial is Good Omens!!! Unfortunatly, the director is a bad person and because of him there'll be no season 3, but otherwise it's peak!!!! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Good question!! It depends on the type of orca. They're divided into different ecotypes based off their morphology, behavior and where their pods live, although they can travel hundreds of miles in one day -- so particular sightings in one area aren't necessarily indicative of their ecotype. For example, the Transients are mammal-eaters. They're typically the larger of the three, with a more pointed dorsal fin tip and larger saddle patches (the grey parts on their back) with no black inside of them. They have straighter teeth than the Residents, perfect for grabbing and piercing other seagoing mammals' skin. They're the types you'll see going after giant whales such as humpbacks and blues! They're less vocal but typically more visibly playful than the Residents, often seen breaching, spyhopping (poking their heads up and out of the water) and lobtailing (slapping the surface of the water with their tails!) 0 players like this post! The Residents are, on average, smaller and they eat exclusively fish, primarily oceangoing salmon. They have rounded tips on their dorsal fins and are seemingly more eager to vocalize. Their saddle patches tend to be darker, sometimes having black inside of them -- this is called an 'open' saddle patch! Some of them may have a wavy trailing edge on their dorsal fins! A notable example is J1, nicknamed "Ruffles". He was often spotted with J2 "Granny", one of the oldest orcas to ever live and also one of the most famous Southern Residents was estimated to be about 80 years old. 0 players like this post! Wow, that's... wow. So we have Transients and Residents. Probably more, but those are the ones you mentioned. Do they ever collide with eachother? Are there any instances of them meeting eachother, or do they basically leave on two different sides of sea/ocean/world? 0 players like this post! Like? |

There are some notable individuals I'd like to point out; for example, PTN-001 Mel, often nicknamed Big Mel. He was one of the first orcas ever seen stranding himself on the beach to catch a seal that'd escaped the water! Port and Starboard are two males off the coast of South Africa, named after the directions their dorsal fins flop. They're known for hunting down sharks, even having going on a spree that resulted in over five washing up in one day -- all missing their livers. We don't know exactly *why* they're only going after the livers, but it's thought it's because they're potentially the most nutritious part of the shark. I do also believe that it could be personal preference, though that's less scientific and more biased of me. 0 players like this post! Like? |
