Since we do have one dominant male, why not have one dominant female as well? Asiatic lions have female-run prides, and within African prides, there are dominant females. It'd still be realistic, even moreso than what we have now.
I've got a few ideas that might make her useful, rather than 'just a pretty lioness we can't chase';

Our Queen would be locked to our accounts and be given her own slot. The Queen wouldn't take up a territory slot, and like our Kings, we could only have one Queen per pride. It should cost the same to retire her as it would a King, and she would not run off if too hungry or bored. Yes, you will have to play with and feed your Queen.

Like Kings, we would be able to chose an heir for her when retiring or when she comes of age. We would be able to chose to keep her looks or use those of the new Queen. Thus, we could customize her or her heir and keep that look for as long as we want to.

Unlike other females, the Queen wouldn't go hunting. She would have a different way of gaining stats. The Queen would be in charge of domestic-related issues. Teaching cubs /adolescents to hunt, fending off males/females at our borders, the likes. Each hour, we could chose to have her perform one of these duties and gain stats/exp. The former would also have a small chance of giving cubs stats, along with a slightly higher chance of giving the Queen stats. The Queen would only be able to take up to five cubs/adolescents under her wing at a time.

She would be able to breed as well, but I think a cub with a Queen should get slightly higher stats. Nothing insane like +50 in all stats, but something small, like +1-5 across the boards.

Edit: Like people have mentioned, this should be optional, like with submales. That way people wouldn't have to necessarily get one if they don't want one.

I think when in training with the queen cubs should be able to gain stats so they can build up stats at an earlier age other than waiting before you can improve your lion or lioness. But good idea I like it. Support :)

I.... am not sure about this.

Lion prides dont have a queen. Just the main male and the females he breeds with.

Mainly I dont support it because of the diversity in playstyles. Some people indeed would love to have a queen in their pride, others however like to keep it realistic and stick to the natural hierarchy of leader and females. This way you would force those players to play your style.

.n. Yup, it would be great to gain stats on cubs.

And in the wild, they don't usually only have one king. Usually, it's a coalition of 1-3 males in charge of a pride, or sometimes even a female that is in charge. Lioden isn't 100% true to real life.

Though I do agree with you about not forcing everyone to have a Queen. It could be that you have to pay for your Queen slot and can chose not to have one at all, like you do with submales. That way people can avoid having one all together if they really don't want one.

I support c:

I think having it optional would be a good thing as well. I'd love to have one of my customs as my queen uwu Maybe their looks would roll over or be optional to on the heir just like the male as well.

c: That's exactly what I thought. It would be great to have just one special lady like we have the one special guy. And I think that the perks I've listed up there would be great, but wouldn't completely unballance the game. She'd have to earn her points like other lionesses, and would only be able to gain them once an hour like other lionesses.

Lions don't have queens, you're thinking about wolves, so no support sorry, this will make the game a little more unrealistic and I like how it is realistic right now.

They do have Queens, and Alpha wolves- male or female- are a myth. Female lions in the wild sometimes lead their own prides. There are several documentaries out there with female leaders, if you'd just look for them.

Schenkel’s Alpha theory was proven false. Schenkel captured wild wolves from multiple packs and stuck them all in an enclosed area with no way to get away from eachother.

So no, I'm not thinking about wolves. I'm thinking of lionesses, who do have a hierarchy, even among females.

I don't see how having a favored lioness is any less realistic than being able to have a new king take on the appearance of the former king.

It is more about behavior than looks in this case. I guess the game should stick to 'somewhat' lion behavior. The natural way a pride looks like is:
Lead male and his females. Or more males, depends.

A pride of lionesses is a temporary setting. Normally they dont last long as a rogue or two would gain leadership. There are no lead lionesses among a healthy pride as the male doesnt favor any female naturally. he simply awaits his food and breeds with them equally.

If you want a queen, then by all means choose one, name is Queen -insertnamehere- and you can treat her a special way. But I myself wouldnt like to be forced to choose a queen just because someone else wants one.

Also, this being optional isnt going to cut it. Since having a queen and with her training the cubs, those cubs would gain advantage over others, lets not talk about the stat gain of the bred cubs. Even if it is insignificant.

Submales are optional as well. They give players with one an advantage, as they gather resources and can replace the weaker king with one with much higher stats with very little effort.

And lion prides to have a strong hierarchy. Usually, there is one stronger female that can take over the pride should the king die or whatever.

This would also serve the purpose of cubs/adolescents being more than just 'dead weight' for us to care for for two weeks. In the wild, lionesses take their cubs with them everywhere and they gain experience and know-how by watching the females hunt and by playing among themselves. Why not simulate this with having the queen care for them by 'teaching them to hunt', ergo giving us something to do with them and gaining stats for them, if we're lucky?

I just absolutely love it when people seem to bring up the halloween event decors and NPCs as reason why they can add unrealistic and fantasy elements. That was an event, not part of the actual gameplay, so please quit bringing that up. It doesnt count.

And btw, the dominant female stuff you say might exist in prides where males are absent -please note: for a short time before they are met with a male- but once a male is present, he will be sole leader and will NOT favor any female over the other. he breeds them equally and expects food from each of them equally as well. No matter if maybe there is one that might be more dominant, she still does the same work. She isnt the teacher of cubs but hunts and breeds just the same way as each lioness.

He might not favor one female over the others, but lions are a hierarchical pack animal. There is often a more dominant female among the group of females who will take food from other lionesses, boss them around, ect.

I am fully aware that she is not in charge of the cubs, but I just thought it might give us something to do with them. If you want to get true to the nature of lionesses and cubs, the pregnant mother should run away from the pride and hide the cubs until they are a few months old, only returning every now and then to eat. The fact that we see them right off the bat is in and of itself unrealistic and fantastical. Even the fact that we can chase off/kill cubs is unrealistic, at least not without a fight. Heck, Adolescent male lions stay with the pride until anywhere from two to four, meaning that they don't have to run the minute they 'become adults'. Having two year old lions sporting a full mane is another fantastical feature of the site. They don't grow a full head of hair until they reach the age of five.
Heck, when a male lion takes over a pride, he should kill any cub sired by the last male, and our lions have an option to be 'good' by doing things they wouldn't do in nature and living by a more humanistic view of what is good and what is evil. Your lionesses should also go out hunting without you having to tell them and should not starve while there is a huge hoard of food in your inventory.

Also, the local Caucasian human population is all missing their right leg, and yet no one has come to put down your lionesses for hunting humans.
