Hi everyone! I just started playing Lioden again after about 1.5 years. Luckily my old account still exists and I'm still dedicated to Hard Mode. And now I've got a few questions that I wanted to ask the more experienced players :) How you choose which cubs you keep and which ones you don't? Also, how and when do you get rid of the unwanted ones? Do you continue to breed your daughters and granddaughters or do you focus on getting good heritageless lionesses? Do you use the August studs in order to bring in fresh blood? I'm trying to get marking applicators so my king looks less plain - how did you guys go about prettying up your first king? Do you have any other advice or tricks that might help a beginner? I'm really curious about the different approaches people have to this challenge ^^ 0 players like this post! Like? Hi Tazme! Welcome back to Lioden! :D Choosing cubs for me is somewhat subjective, as I like pretty lions. I've tried to start being pickier—only keeping cubs with higher stats or certain markings I want to make sure persist within my pride or pass on. My unwanted cubs I usually sell. If they're particularly striking, I'll let them age into adults and chase them (lionesses) or abandon them at 1 year, 11 months (males), so maybe someone out there gets a treat. I continue to breed my lionesses regardless of generation. Since I don't do inbreeding, I make sure my main male is heritageless. (If you don't mind inbreeding though, it doesn't really matter how many generations your lion or lionesses are!) August studs are definitely a viable way to bring in fresh blood, as well as any heritageless stud you come across (or find on the stud list. :)) In May, you can score male groupies that are heritageless and can be used to replace your king's heritage. Prettying up my first king… yeah. Applicators and customization! It takes a lot of time and patience, but personally I think the challenge is worth it; it's much more satisfying. As for tips and tricks… Be patient. xD Also… smaller prides are easier to feed and you can sell excess carcasses at Monkey Business to earn some income if your cubs aren't selling or you don't get a lot of stud requests. Even with "pretty" studs, the income from stud requests is probably not going to make up for the effort you put into customizing them. I'd err for a lion you like that produces cubs you like, over trying to get the latest markings or following trends. But that's just me. Hope that helped some. I'll admit it's still very early here so if I didn't address something, just nudge me. And feel free to ask more questions. :D 0 players like this post! Like? |

Ooo welcome back I just desided to redo my whole pride again to keep from getting board. Just did a full wipe and I am ready to reroll my king just need to make a goal granted I might make a few harder rules to keep things interesting who knows? Just gonna re read the rules so I know what I need to do. I have not done much breeding in the past 2ish years in this game but for Cubs I tend to gi for more marks with higher Opacity and bases that suit my project needs and limit myself to 1-2 Cubs per litter so I don't keep to many of the same line. I do use outside G1s for new blood and markings in the past but I am going to limit myself on outside studs to give more a challenge. Though I know a lot of users who breed back(inbreed) to get the right markings and then they just heritage rep the result to get a fresh line. From what I seem to see is the best is playing a event and selling off the items to get the funds to buy apps normally from the oasis. Granted some events like this one sell apps. Personally for my first king I like to save and get custom stuff from oasis and resell the event stuff for profit down the line to keep my HM well funded. If you don't have a lot of funds due to the "wipe" don't go buying a lot of stuff. Take your time on your health maybe play in the wardrobe and design what you want your final outcome to sort of look like that way you can find studs with these slots and markings etc easier. Play the heck out of thus event I found that 1 things sell really well and 2 if you are doing personal projects Grains are way more affordable than buffs and can easily get you 2 babies to help with you HM goal. I am going to add more rules to limit my breeding and I am thinking doing something BO related I have not desided what but I love the ember base and not to many people breed them but also I have a few others that interest me. So I am going to find me a goal and roll my king maybe even today! 0 players like this post! Like? |

SQUEEEEE …I'm actually already thinking about redesigning my king again just because of it. xD Me. The person who keeps Azzy's design the same for like, years at a time. Congrats Indy! Anyone interested in a Chased Ebony NCL I caught her a few days ago and the person who wanted to buy her (and offered a pretty good price as well) just backed out :/ I don't really need her myself. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Wow Valana, she's so pretty! I hope someone grabs her from you! Does anyone have any advice or resources about designing a new G1 king? I just came back to the site & I've had the same king forever and want to replace him sometime soon... I'm not sure the best way to go about it to keep him heritageless. thanks! 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Karwyn Go for whatever you like really. There are so many options and there is no right or wrong. Personally, when design a king, (which can be either a fully custom Oasis king, one including apps or one with breed-only attributes as a long-term project) I like to figure out whatever it is I want first and then design around that. By that i mean, if I have a specific base in mind or maybe a marking or a set of marking, then i will design around thise set parameters. I prefer designs that are blended mostly, but you could also go into a different direction and make it "pop". Look around at other peoples lions and see what inspires you. Go through other peopley kind dynasty and see the evolution their kings went through. Play around in the wardrobe. Ask for input on your designs (for example here in clan thread). Have fun with it XD 0 players like this post! Like? |

Valana, OH thank you, but I was more like asking about the logistics of it I guess ^^; Like, can you replace the king with a nicely designed not-G1 one and then just... replace with a male groupie and keep the looks? ( Cost aside, cuz idk how else people get BO bases on G1 studs?) Does that wipe the heritage? Is it better to just design a groupie or reroll the king? Some other thing I'm not thinking of?? haha 0 players like this post! Like? |

In my case with the Sunspot base (which can only be found on Groupies from the May event), I was fortunate enough to get a heritageless male Sunspot groupie! I used him to replace my former king, then worked on applying the desired markings through events and applicators. You can breed a cub with the desired base or markings, then use that cub to replace your king, then heritage replace them if you want to stud him out or avoid inbreeding, as well. Keeping your pride clean isn't a requirement in HM, if that makes things easier. If you've got an idea of a look you want to shoot for, but are having trouble planning for getting it, feel free to hit me up. I'd be happy to help. Or even post here—a lot of HM'ers are friendly and happy to help out. Dunno if that helped or answered your question at all, but. Yeah. There ya go. xD 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Karway Oh. I see. Yeah, groupies are the way to go. Either get a grpupie with a breed-only base and design something on that or have a nice king and replace him with a groupie while keeping the look. That wipes his heritage. Gotta make sure that the king is HM compatibile though. Like you can't just take any lion. He still has to be bred in HM according to HM rules. A good example for that would be my current project actually. Take a look at my king - his heritage is horrid, but everyhtign in there comes from NCLs I have or had in my pride (most are dead by now) and a lot of inbreeding. Once I am done he will eventually be replaced with a groupie to make him gen 1. 0 players like this post! Like? |

On an unrelated note, I've been playing in the wardrobe with my Inverted Shaded Rosette baby, and I'm thinking about doing something like this. Kinda inspired by a dusky sky. :) Haven't figured out what I'm gonna do with the other slots yet, though. 0 players like this post! Like? |
