Hawkflight's gaze twitched between the two she-cats, and he seemed to deflate ever so slightly. He felt suddenly outnumered. Although Maplepaw had a point, and his mind chose that to latch onto.
"She's right. Food makes you strong, and by being strong you can be a better asset to the clan." He spoke matter of factly, voice carrying confidence as it did when he spoke facts or that which he was knowledgeable of.
"so you know, eat." the confidence had faded some. As Maplepaw continued chatting away, Hawkflight frowned. He wasn't entierly sure what the she-cat was insinuating, and had opened his jaws to comment as such when Silvertune spoke again.
"Right, yea let's all go." He glanced at the other cats in the camp. It was odd to make the decision so easily, without worrying about what he was sopossed to be doing.
"I mean, we could um, always try that fishing thing. Especially considering Riverclan always seems well fed in leaf bare." He mulled the thought, rising to his paws and then standing, kneading the earth in case someone else wanted to lead.

SilverTune frowned. "I guess so, but the only river close to here in right on RiverClan territory. Its their river, i'm just saying." SilverTune padded out with the two cats, her ear flicking nervously again. "If we fished there, wouldn't we be breaking the warrior code?" She asked in a nervous murmer. She was scared, and she wouldn't deny it. Her ears lay down and her tail dragged in worry.

As Maplepaw began to pad over a frown drained her features. "It's better to eat now than later. Not having any prey for any longer will end up killing you, rather directly or indirect." Her voice was rather soft while blinking slowly at the other she-cat. Oh well, it seemed that silver feline wasn't budging. Her cranium tipped to look at Hawkflight and nodded. "Yeah, Riverclan are always the plump ones all times of the year." A tiny giggle slipped from her lips as she streched in slow, exaggerated movements of her limbs.

She noticed the uncomfortable stillen look of the new warrior with his paws kneading at the ground. Nervous? Maple guessed as so, jaws openeing to speak yet closing as Silvertune mused once more. A confused look crossed her features and she stared at her for a few seconds. "You know that a river border has two sides, right? One for Riverclan, one for us. I think we could go and try fishing at the inlet of stream just below the Owl Tree, next to the Sandy Hollow." Maplepaw raised an alabaster paw, stained with dust and dirt, and began grooming it halfheartedly.

"They can't get mad at us for using part of the river that is in our territory, no matter how irrational those fish-brains are." She began to pad slowly towards the exit of camp, elongated banner curling in random pattern behind her hinds. "Are you ready to go? I can show you guys the place I was talking about. Not a far walk from here." Optics of chalky jade glanced back and trained their attention onto the two warriors. "If that's okay, of course."

So the river really was in Riverclan's territory. There had been some debate about that through Hawkflight's apprenticeship. Personally, he had never wandered over to that border since it always seemed cats were fighting over the rocks and the shore. Did Silvertune know that? The she-cat was almost as young as the pair, so perhaps she was just as confused about the territory lines. Hawkflight twitched his tail in minor disconcern. It would be more pertinent if the warriors made things more clear while they were apprenticed, even if they usually went out with an older cat.
"I'm, not sure." The tabby tom finally offered, his features wrinkled as he tugged at a tuft of grass by his paws.
"I wouldn't want to get in trouble on my first day of being a warrior." Amber eyes tilted between the cats.
"But if Maplepaw knows of a spot, then there must be an area." It was the only conclusion he could make, and it was a weak one. He rose to his paws, if only to stop the fidgeting and nodded to Maplepaw.
"If it feels like were breaking the code, we won't do it." He mewed. that was the only logical thing to do.

SilverTune nodded. She was glad these cats were sane, most of the cats she knew would jump in the river without a second thought. She twitched her tail. When they came to the spot SilverTune smiled. She had fished before, and had a real knack for it. She crouched by the river, waiting. She seemed to freeze completely, never moving, never twitching. Until her paw swiped at the river, earning her a decent sized trout. She turned with it in her jaws, offering the fish the the two cats who watched her. She blushed and hung her head. She hated being to center of attention. "Did I do something wrong?" She asked nervously.

"I myself am not totally sure, but it seems perfectly fine to have fun trying to fish on our side of the river." She loosely shrugged and nodded to Hawkflight. "VVe just have to always remember the code and use our heads." A light smile flashed from her features to the both of them. She let her jaws slide shut and she began to stride from camp. Late-Leaf fall made the forest beautiful, a mix of tawny colors flashing below her paws. Bright optics swiveled to take in the scenery, eyes trained on each empty tree that she walked under. Her breaths came in short and silent so her ears could fully take in the crunch of leaves and breaking of twigs underfoot as she strolled along.

"I'll never get over how amazing our home is." She murmured quietly, half to herself and half to the others. Soon, they had arrved at their spot. It was just a few treelengths from the Sandy hollow. Loose sand and dirt made up the terrain, large trees flanking the open area leading up to the river. She padded closer with eyes trained across the water to ensure no trouble would come, unjust at that. It was as if the water was made of liquid gold, a mix of beautiful colors reflected from the sun's slow departure. They still had hours until nightfall, it seemed.

She stepped back and watched as Silvertune caught a fish singlehandedly in her first try. Stunned, Maplepaw blinked at her. "Have you done this before? Maybe you should teach instead of me." Her feet awkwardly shuffled with eachother as optics bore into the fish's carcass. "Um, you should get a little lower next time. Your shadow covered a little bit more than it should." She shrugged and turned to Hawkflight. "You've never done this before, right? I know you're good at hunting but I'm getting surprised at every corner today." A light laugh came from her vocals.

SilverTune smiled. "I've done this before. Not many cats know this, but my mother is from Riverclan." She gave a shy smile, though her eyes showed worry. How would they react to a half clan cat? She watched the leaves blow through the sky, wrapped in the beauty of them. She sat beside HawkFlight. "It's beautiful..." She meowed quietly to him.

Hawkflight had padded along in silence after Maplepaw, listening to her comment about the territory, his own gaze turning upwards at the golden foliage. His first leave fall had been when he was barely a newborn, so to experience it as a warrior sent a tremor of joy through his fur. He agreed, their territory was amazing. He almost bumped the other two as they stopped, his mind and eyes still on the sky. With an apologetic whisk of his tail, he settled, ready for the lesson.
It was Silvertune, who was quick to be the first to show off. Hawkflight's gaze flickered between the two cats. Part of him felt a little bad for the apprentice, who seemed taken aback that the cat already knew what to do. He shared the sentiment. Most Thunderclan cats were not exactly eager to get wet paws so her sudden ability was a bit startling. As Maplepaw turned her attention to him, he shook his head sheepishly.
"Long fur and water don't mix." He purred, the sound emitting without warning, and stopping as quickly as it started, his eyes widening before his head ducked away to lick self conciously at his chest fur. the grooming was short lived however, as he heard Silvertune's admission of her heritage. The slight relaxation that had overtaken the tom as they had traveled and sat vanished, a peculiar expression across his face.
"That's..." he wasn't sure what it was. It went against the warriors code, the thing Hawkflight held quite dear to his morals. Sure, a cat's parents were never their choice, but he was curious that it had never been muttered between elders, or whispered in apprentice gossip.
"Peculiar." The word was finally offered, and although it was weak, it was all that could be said. His sharp gaze followed Silvertune as she sat next to him, her gaze following the leaves as the wind knocked some of them down.
"Yea." That was a good word for it, although Hawkflight couldn't really focus on the terrain's peculiarities at the present moment, with his mind whirling. Yellow eyes glanced at the she-cat with a furrowed brow, before his body rose, and padded to the water's edge.
"So, fish time?" The voice that emitted from the tom was slightly higher, tenser than usual, but he gave a cough a to clear his throat, recomposing.
"Time wasted is...wasted." He shook his head, unsure why he felt more flustered this day than ever before.

SilverTune smiled. She knew Maplepaw would want to teach HawkFlight. She nodded at the apprentice. "I.. I think i'll just watch for a minutes." She said, smiling softly. The she began to groom her skinny self. As the leaves fluttered around, she couldn't help but let out a content sigh. "So lovely..." She murmered without realizing it. As the sun began to set, the red and orange colors of the light caught on her fur, giving her an otherworldly glow.

Maplepaw blinked at the she-cat as Hawkflight began to pad to the water's edge. "Okay. I think you'd be a better teacher though, miss perfect." She laughed as her words came out with light sarcasm. "Shouldn't the prettier, more selfless from not eating, more kind cat, more sincere cat, and perfectly amazing at fishing cat be teaching?" She called playfully over her shoulder as she began to crouch lower. Alabaster feet sunk into the damp sand, tail swishing gently behind her.

"Um, I'm pretty sure the first step is to get low to the ground. You don't want the fish to see your shadow or figure above them. You should try and stay still and quiet when down here." Legs braced as she let her frame dunk down, stomach pressed against the wet terrain. "Next, you want to watch and wait for a fish. Once you see one, wait until it is close enough to reach. After that, you make a scooping motion with your paw, claws out so you can hook the fish, and bring it to the shore. You do the killing bite thingy then."

She demonstrated what she thought to be the scooping with a sharp flick of her paw. "And bam. I guess we can wait and try it out now. Silvertune, are you sure you don't want to try? And why not eat the fish you caught?" Her voice mused softly, optics swiveling over the water infront of her.

From where she was positioned, a gray outline flickered in the water. Frustration began to build inside of her as the fish never got close enough for her to attack. Hopefully, Hawkflight was having better luck than the young fae.

Hawkflight's gaze locked onto Maplepaw, his head tilting slightly at her words. The younger she-cat always spoke her mind, definitely a trait that Hawkflight himself had never acquired. The tom was far more concerned about making sure he said the right thing to the right cat. However, with these two he had noticed himself thinking less, and just reacting to what was happening. It was odd. Yellow eyes twitched between the she-cats, from Silvertune's strange mystical sit to Maplepaw's bold and tenacious energy, noting just how different they were. He too, was different from either. It just went to show that even cats of the same clan did not come from the same mold. So lost in thought, Hawkflight nearly missed Maplepaw's instructions.

"Right." Nodding, the tom crouched at the edge as well, gaze moving swiftly as he acknowledged his surroundings. Shadow behind him, paws tense and ready to strike. His breathing slowed, as it did when he hunted, eyes becoming an intense beam of focus as he tried to pick up the suble blobs of motion in the river.
"Rah!" With a growl, he lashed forward. however with a mind filled with chasing rabbits and squirrels, the tom had instinctively pushed forward with his hind legs as well, propelling his front half into the cool current. Thankfully, they were in the shallows and with a scramble of paws Hawkflight managed to backpedaled across the sand, bumping Maplepaw as he shook water furiously from his face and chest.
Panting and wide eyed with shock, it was a drastic change from his usual awkward or serious self. Fur stuck every direction, and even his stance was one of confusion of what had just happened. Hawkflight looked ridiculous. His gaze quivered between the two cats.
"I, don't think I'm meant for fishing." He said breathlessly, not knowing what else to say.

SilverTune giggled. The sight of HawkFlight was ridiculous, his fur stuck in every direction. After hearing Meadow, though, she said "Really, I'm not that hungry. One of the queens can have it." SilverTunes voice lightened at the prospect of seeing kits.

Maplepaw watched in silence as Hawkflight tensed, his optics locked on a figure within the water. She barely moved as she had already shifted her cranium to be looking at a slight angle away from the river. She startled a small bit as he let out a gravelly growl, hinds powering his leap forward into the river. She reacted too slow to avoid being drenched with the silty water. She watched as he hopped backwards, slamming into her shoulder and flipping her onto the ground. "Hawkflight!" She yelped, sliding across the loose sand for a few moments before regaining her footing.

She hopped to her feet and let optics swivel over her pelt. Cinnamon hued fur had crystals of sand wedged between silken locks, coat constrincting against her frame. She snapped her head over to look at Hawkflight. He, too, was a sight. His own fur was going in every direction except towards his body. A small amused purr slid from her thoat, drying out after few seconds of vocal. "Eh. You probably just need some more practice. Remember: There was no step that involved trying to body slam the fish." A laugh slipped through parted lips as she padded up towards Silvertune.

"Look at me. I'm a mess." She mused with a slight chuckle. "Maybe, this will help." She began to shake out her pelt, looking as if she aimed to spray the silver feline with muck. Yet, at the last second, she hopped away and towards Hawkflight. She landed with a childish grin and shook out her fur once more. "Oh, sorry there. Guess I got you dirty." Doeful eyes blinked innocently at the tom while a faux-evil smile grew across her features.

Yet, she turned back and eyed Silvertune. "Okay, we get it. You're nice, and giving, and considerate, and blah blah blah. Maybe your one of those she-cats that think toms like a girl who is as thin as a stick bug. Sorry, Silvertune. This is the wild. You eat, or you die. So far, your generous giving is going to get you killed. That doesn't help anybody. I get it. VVe have enough food for the elders and kits. If you don't eat that fish right now, I'll walk over there and shove it in your mouth right now." Her temper had run short with the older feline. One of Maple's biggest pet peeves was cats that simply wanted a compliment for their good deeds. To her, it seemed that other warrior fit the description pretty well.

Her hinds plonked onto the damp sand and she shrugged. "Sorry, not sorry. I say the stuff we're all thinkin'." A small smile streched across her features as she turned from the she-cat and towards the glimmering river. The sun had barely set any more, causing slightly longer shadows to fall from the trio of cats. She raised her paw up and down to watch her dark counterpart mimic her movements to a tee. "And, if you aren't hungry after not eating for three days, Starclan gave you a power."
