Water was running, children were running, you were running out of time,

The world has come to an end, or so many believe. A disease unlike any other has spread across the planet; infecting every continent, every country, every person. Almost. Humanity has dwindled to only a spare few, those still alive miraculously surviving the highly fatal symptoms they experienced. The cause of the sickness? Unclear, but it all began when several meteors unexpectedly entered Earth’s atmosphere, crashing into the soil and bursting to pieces, contaminating everything.

We found you hiding, we found you lying, choking on the dirt and sand. Your former glories and all the stories dragged and washed with eager hands.

The world is tainted, all life withering. The plague came first, wiping out humanity, the world slowly decaying alongside man. Once grand forests are little more than bare, gray chunks of wood, their bare branches reaching toward the sky as if begging the sun to reappear. Formerly marvelous cities are abandoned and eerily silent. Previously lush landscapes are little more than dry, yellowed grass. The animals have changed, mutated, unnatural and more dangerous than ever. The sky is a haze, the air thick with pollution. Living in this broken world comes with many challenges, and the odds are always against you. Yet you've changed too, blessed with abilities you never would have thought were possible before now.

But your city lies in dust, my friend.

In the midst of this turmoil arrives a wolf as dark as night; fur, skin, and flesh stripped clean along areas of the face, revealing unnaturally clean bone and razor-sharp fangs, orbs of red light peering from otherwise empty sockets. While a pale horse does not accompany this being, many believe them to be the manifestation of death. In this new, frightening world, the Reaper has arrived in solid form. Wherever their paws tread life fades, few live to see them up close, and yet they are not the only threat to humanity’s struggle for survival.

Hot and burning in your nostrils, pouring down your gaping mouth.

A group of mysterious figures, known merely as the Plague Doctors, scour the land for any signs of human life, abducting anyone they find. Going with them is not a matter of choice, it’s mandatory, and those who fall into their hands rarely live to see another day. What they do with their victims is unclear, but one thing is for sure, should you find yourself surrounded by a group of human-like creatures dressed head to toe in black cloaks and sporting plague masks, you are done for. Rumor has it those they steal away become experiments. They need lab rats to find a cure for the disease and are beyond caring whether or not their methods are immoral.

Your molten bodies blanket of cinders, caught in the throes.

Another rumor, though one less believed, is that perhaps the Reaper is not an evil being at all, but one who is destined to bring order and stability to this new, damaged world. It is undeniable the Plague Doctors fear them, where the beast walks they scatter, the only time they ever show any emotion is in the Reaper’s wake, but perhaps this is just wishful thinking, or maybe not. Only time will tell.

Ohh oh your city lies in dust, my friend.

♠|| Angel Hills||♠
18 |:| Female |:| Survivor
Location- Abandoned City |:| Mentions: N/A

Angel pulled her hood tighter over her head as she heard the sizzling raindrops splatter a few a few inches from her feet. Blitz whined anxiously as he nuzzled her hand. Winnie herself shifted nervously, knowing that the rain was off. Even Angel could smell a difference from how normal rain would smell. Though she was blind, are her other skills where unbelievably heightened. She wasn't extraordinary, but she had a better use of her remaining sense than most people did. The three of them were currently standing against some building, perhaps hiding under some sort of edge. Or maybe it was raining at an angle. Angel had no way of telling. By the closeness of the buildings, Angel guessed they were in an alleyway. Living like this wasn't easy. Angel didn't really know for sure if she was in an alleyway, or if this was even what was called. She often had to guess where she was or what she was holding. It was like she could walk into any small way and call it an alleyway, she couldn't just feel something and call it whatever it felt closest to. Thankfully Blitz was able to see the difference between a box of crackers and dish powder.

Angel put her hand on Blitz's nose, making sure her was able to breath fine. "Which way?" She whispered. The golden retriever turned his head and pointed with his nose in some random direction. This was his way or letting her know where there was a door or opening. Angel once again readjusted her hoodie as well as her backpack. "On the count of three!" Angel said more to herself. "One, two, two and a half... Three!" Angel gave both of the dogs a pat on their backs before darting towards the direction that Blitz had pointed out. She winced as the acid stung her hands. Bumping into the door frame didn't help either. Blitz seemed fine as he ran into the building, his shaggy fur protecting him, but Winnie growled as the rain hit her. Angel ran her hand over Winnie's back, relieved that the acid had died out. The pitbull stretched and licked Angel on her chin. "I don't know what you ate while I was sleeping earlier, but never eat in again." She put down her hood and felt around. She felt shelves and realized she was in a store. She started walking along them, feeling for objects of any sorts.

⭑✦Rey Ricochett✦⭑

29|⭑|Male|⭑|Survivor|⭑|Location-Abandoned City-Mall|⭑|Mentions-Weylyn

The male looked around the mall. Many stores were already looked and picked through, but some appeared to be intact. His eyes settled on a mini market that didn’t look too trashed. He snapped back to his current situation when Weylen spoke. He had forgotten momentarily about the rude male. But he had seemed to do a complete 180 when it came to personality. “I have a pocket knife,” he said, setting his bag on the floor. He rested his eyes on the male for a moment before doing something very risky. He kneeled down, leaving his back turned towards the complete stranger.

He opened the bigger part of his bag and pulled out a mall pocket knife. He pressed the button and it flicked open. He didn’t carry around any other weapons, seeing as he enjoyed avoiding conflict. He usually never talked to any other survivors, not really wanting to be murdered or get close to any for the fear of losing them. But for some reason, he had accepted help from this strange male.

He shut the bag and put it back over his shoulder. He slipped it closed and tucked it in his pocket.  Now that he was ready he continued to search around, looking for a good store to look through. He felt a familiar draw towards a certain store and shook his head. It was his power telling him where the vision had taken place. “Let's try that grocery store.”

| Adelaide Victoria Thompson |
18 | Female | Survivor | Location- abandoned city | Mentions: Thane

Addie let a faux grimace play across her face as her elbows rested on her thighs, supporting her head as she sat with crossed legs.
"Nah, beer is gross. I probably shouldn't tell you that I tried it, but who's gonna come arrest me?"
Her tone of voice sounded almost like a threat, a sauntering swagger aimed at whoever dared put her in handcuffs. Of course, she was a good kid, and the police honestly terrified her. She'd once had an anxiety attack when a cop pulled her over, and she'd had to perform DUI tests because he thought she was drunk. She hadn't been, of course, but needless to say she didn't love cops too much after that.

Jerked back from the past by Thane putting up his hand, and almost immediately dropping one of his long fingers. She smiled to herself. Damn, I'm good. At his marksmanship comment Addie chuckled, pushing a curly strand of loose hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear. There was almost always an errant flyaway hanging from her ponytail.
"I'm sure I'd suck if I tried it, too."

Then, it was Thane's turn. Her eyes glittered with excitement at his question. Would it be something rebellious? Scary? Dangerous?

Never have I ever skipped school."

Pursing her lips in mock anger, Addie stuck a finger up, allowing her head to rest on just one hand. "I forgot to study for a math test, so I dumped vegetable soup in the toilet and told my mom I got sick." She paused for a second, remembering the woman. She'd never been very bright, but Addie was her first kid, and her mother had been an only child. But memories never boded well with Addie, so she leaned back and kicked her legs loose, allowing them to hang over the desk. They dangled just over the floor, her toes barely touching the carpet.

"Never have I ever owned a dog."

As much as she adored them, her mother had been allergic. Ody, who had ceased his purring as sleep overtook him, had been her first furry pet. She'd had a fish as a child, but he'd only lasted about a week. Thankfully, this cat seemed to have better survival skills than that poor soul, probably in a septic tank somewhere.

⇺ [ Kane ] ⇻
20 |:| Male |:| Survivor
Location - Wastelands |:| Mentions - Atlas, Winston

Kane didn’t pay Atlas much mind as he slipped back into the kitchen, his focus on the mutated monstrosities currently scarfing down the last few bits of jerky scattered across the floor. The muted growl one of his guests uttered saw him glance Winston’s way, momentarily puzzled by his disgust before following his gaze to the corpse on the sofa. "Sorry mate, forgot about that," he chuckled, the grotesque body seeming to dissolve into thin air, leaving the furniture empty. The pungent stench of rotting flesh still lingered, but Winston might notice once he entered the kitchen, it wasn’t as strong there. The scent of death seemed to cling to the deer, in fact. Perhaps it had been them all along.

Kane allowed Atlas and Winston some privacy for a time, though only the sound of chewing echoed from the kitchen. "Not very talkative, are you boys?" He asked idly as he finally joined them, pausing beside a window to peer outside. The first 20 minutes had been wretched. The entire house seemed to shake under the booms of thunder and blasts of lightning that lit up the sky, the downpour so loud you could barely hear anything else. It was slowing now and would probably ease off entirely within a few seconds, but the wet ground and foliage could still potentially be dangerous. They’d need to wait for it to dry.

"What’s the plan when the rain stops? Where will you go?" He asked curiously, glancing from one man to the other. He doesn’t expect Atlas to be very forthcoming, but Winston seems somewhat friendly at least. His gaze grows more sympathetic once it lands on Jae, the crumbs scattered across the table evidence of his meager meal. "You probably shouldn’t have given ‘em that. Birds of prey don’t have the means to digest human food unless he’s changed like everything else I suppose. How’d you come to have a hawk? You a falconer?”

⇺ [ Dante Peña Rodríguez ] ⇻
19 |:| Male |:| Diamondbacks Gang Member
Location - Abandoned City |:| Mentions - Kato, Alex, Clovia

Clovia’s patting Sam, and his unusual chittering seemed to distract Dante from his misgivings momentarily. "Yeah, Sharpshot is the big boss around here. She’s super cool. Unlike some people, she doesn’t harass every civilian she sees," he assures Alex. If not for the commotion with Kato and Yuki he would have certainly gone on to pet Sam as well and addressed Clovia’s snake creature, but Kato’s sudden distress quickly drew his attention back to the pale-haired man.

The chill in the air caused him to shiver, though he tried to suppress it. His own ability was as much of a curse as it was a blessing. He was cold-blooded now, and the rapidly dropping temperature was starting to make him feel sluggish and tired. His reactions were somewhat delayed as a result, and he seemed to stare almost blankly at the spreading expanse of ice creeping up Kato’s wrists. The joke regarding his face aimed their way didn’t even register for a few seconds before he cracked a smile.

"I’ve seen worse,” he replied with a wink. It seemed as if the worst of whatever was happening to Kato had ended for now and he moved to the other side of the room to warm up, finding distance lessened some of the frigid air a bit. He pressed himself to the glass of a low window, hopeful it still held some of the sun’s heat. Dante was disappointed to find the smooth glass retained little warmth. It was worth a try. A blast of purple lightning jutted through the darkened clouds and the boom of thunder that followed seem to vibrate through the building, but he didn’t appear particularly frightened by the storm, remaining in place.

NPC Encounter
Mentions: Rey, Weylyn

As Rey and Weyln entered the store, there’s a brief sound of rustling that seems to stop the moment they push open the doors. Someone must be in the room, startled by the arrival of two strangers. Peering around, the room is too dark to pick anything out, and the place seems to be a mess of scattered items and disheveled shelves. Should they continue forward, a whooshing sound will catch their notice within moments and a knife will sail between the men, dangerously close to grazing skin before embedding itself in the wooden wall behind them. It’s clearly a warning. A throw like that took skill and precise aim. The store remains eerily silent, the thrower staying quiet perhaps to keep from giving away their current location.

[ Thane Percer ]
27 | | Male | | Survivor
Location – Abandoned City | | Mentions – Adelaide

Addie's response his grin widened. ”Well, I have to admit that math wasn't really a strength of mine either, so understandable., Thane replied, letting out a soft chuckle before continuing, ”Unfortunately, tricks like that weren't gonna work on a trained nurse. Or on a very stubborn and equally annoying brother who was incredibly determined to drag my ass to school. Trust me, I was either in school or 3.5 seconds from death.” His back already flush against the wall, he let his head flop back as well now to rest against the hard surface. Huh, he hadn't thought about his family in a while. Then again, there weren't many reasons for that nowadays. With a slight shake of his head those thought were quickly abandoned, his expression never faltering.

Olive eyes returned to the girl sitting on the table, waiting for her to continue their game. Meanwhile, Thane pulled one of his legs closer again and let one hand rest upon the bent knee. The floor was starting to stop being all that comfortable. It would be fine though. His back definitely wouldn't be happy when he tried to stand up, but Thane couldn't remember the last time his body refrained from reminding him that he was marching towards 30 in such a situation. Too bad general survival had usually a higher priority than comfort.

”Never have I ever owned a dog.”

Thane briefly glanced at Oddy, who was curled up at Addie's side and purring quietly from time to time. ”Yeah, somehow I took you as more of a cat person, you know?” He paused shortly, holding up his hand again and still displaying four fingers. The number of fingers remained unchanged as he explained almost smugly, ”But I think I'll have to disappoint you. A not that spacious apartment downtown wasn't the best place to keep a dog. Or any kind of pet for that matter.” He lifted his shoulders fleetingly in a shrug. ”Not that I didn't try. I remember really wanting a dog as a kid.”

Now it was his turn again and he wasn't really sure how to continue. And this was only his second turn. This would all go extremely well if his brain continue to be this cooperative. In his defense, Thane usually didn't deal with girls about a decade younger than him all that often and knew even less about their average life. But then, finally, a thought came to mind. ”To continue the theme of disappointments in my sad, sad past: Never have I ever been to Disney World.”
