Beatrice woke up to the sound of her alarm, eachoing off the walls. She slammed her fist into it, accidentally breaking it. "Well darn. " She still hadn't opened her eyes. She stretched her arms, yawning. She blinked her eyes open. Well, at least with her stupid broken down shack of a house, the light didn't hurt her eyes. She walked to the kitchen, putting on a pot of coffee. She then headed to the bathroom, starting to get ready for work. When she was done, she realized she was going to be late. "DARNIT! " She struggled the rest of the way into her shirt, grabbing her coffee and a donut and dashing for her car. She stuffed the donut in her mouth, sipping the coffee occasionally. She arrived at the police department early, realizing she had maybe been in too much of a rush. She headed for the break room, deciding she might be able to grab something else to eat. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Muttering something under his breath about "no animal in this whole city being able to drive", Ronnie strode into the ZPD, giving the guy working at the front desk a slight wave. It was early enough that there wasn't all that much activity, thank god - he had just picked up his coffee and some tiger in a green car (a hideous shade of green, might he add) almost rear-ended him on the way through downtown. He spotted Beatrice, who seemed to be making a beeline to the break room as well, giving her a wave. The mountain lion shouldered through the door of the breakroom, his nose buried in his cappuccino. There was also almost nobody in here, unless you counted the polar bear asleep in front of the Monopoly board on the table in the corner. "Why was I not invited to the party?" He laughed a little, pointing at the guy asleep in front of the board game. He turned his head to Darby, giving him a grin and leaning against the table across from him. 0 players like this post! Darby winked at Ronnie "Sup hotshot, get me anything?" he cooed, 'Darby Alec' could be seen on his badge. He was known for putting serial killers in jail in record time. He would always make them crack using snarky comments and forcing them into it. He would even get psychical if needed. He would do anything to serve justice. He was the man everyone wanted to be and wanted. He grinned at the slightly taller male, people used to mock him for his height but now no one would dare speak about him like that. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Beatrice didn't catch the wave from Ronnie, walking into the break room after him. She walked up to the vending machine, shoving a dollar into the slot. She grabbed a protein bar, pulling open the wrapper. She threw the wrapper in the trash, practically stuffing the entire bar in her mouth. She caught her reflection in the vending machine window, frowning. She was a mess. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night, someone had said something... And damn she lost it. She had been half crying half yelling in her house til about midnight last night. She rubbed her eyes, running her hand through her fur. She turned back towards the others, leaning against the vending machine. Her mind wandered back to what happened last night. Damn, she had been unstable since the 'incident'. Ronnie snorted a little, shaking his head. "No, unfortunately, I was regrettably almost rear-ended on the way here, which, despite how wonderful investigating homicides is, I kind of wish I was still a traffic officer so I could have given that dude a ticket. This city needs more patrol officers." He grinned. He was joking, but at the same time, if there was one thing that annoyed him, it was poor driving. He clapped him on the shoulder, turning around and sitting in his seat. "I'll remember donuts next time. Unless the front desk guy has some, which would be really great right now." He raised his eyebrows a little and started nursing his coffee again. His eyes slid over to Beatrice, who seemed preoccupied with the vending machine. She looked a bit like she had just woken up, which was understandable, seeing as Ronnie had an issue with insomnia lately, so he decided he wouldn't press the issue. A lot of police seemed to have issues with that, some more than others, it seemed. He raised his hand in greeting again when she turned around, giving her a grin. He'd like to think he was able to lighten the mood at least a little. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Beatrice snapped back to reality, seeing Ronnie's greeting. She smiled back at him, looking down. Her hands were deeply scarred, which bothered her a little with her previous thoughts. She really hoped her work quality hadn't declined after... That. She shook her head again. She needed to STOP thinking about that. She ran her hand through her fur again, looking blankly at the room. Ronnie returned Beatrice's smile, debating whether to wave her over and see if she wanted to sit. She looked a bit like she was somewhere else. He frowned a little at that, looking her over for a few moments before deciding that staring really wasn't a polite thing to do. He didn't want to look like he was being rude and prying. Ronnie just snorted playfully at Darby, stretching his arms above his head and yawning. He was hoping he would get another case soon, but quite frankly, he honestly didn't want one today. He was tired and he kind of wanted to sit in a café and write - or stay home and sleep, if he was honest. Sleeping on this table seemed very appealing, but he wasn't about to sleep inside the police department, whether he was in the break room or not. More coffee would be wonderful, but if I drink enough my brain will go into turbo mode and I won't sleep for a week. Wonderful. Sugar sounded great though. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket, searching to see whether he could order something for the whole station. Besides, maybe that would cheer everyone up - the "cops love donuts" stereotype was very true, ironically enough. "Anybody want donuts?" he asked, looking behind him. A couple other officers had entered the room, and he caught one of them muttering about how the chief wasn't currently in the building. Must be pretty busy with whatever he's been dealing with the last week. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(ignore my hand wavey logic, I have little to no idea how anything police-related actually works when it comes to how cases are assigned so I'm winging it, lol) Ronnie jerked his head back a little in surprise, his tail waving wildly in order to help keep his balance before he fell out of the chair. He grinned a little too big for his own good, patting Darby on the back. "Is that a yes to the donuts?" he asked jokingly with a grin, hugging him back a little. He looked up as one of the older, less friendly officers walked in and started dropping folders off at tables. He frowned in confusion, looking up at him. The elephant just lifted an eyebrow, replying with "the chief is busy - had a meeting with the mayor. Some of you have been assigned cases. Don't like them? Go complain to the chief. Have fun when she tells you off." He turned abruptly and headed out. Ronnie shook his head, wrinkling his nose. "Rather unpleasant individual, isn't he? The puma's tail flicked nervously, one paw grabbing the side of the table to steady himself. He kind of knew the canine had a crush on him - it wasn't all that hard to miss. The thought kind of made him want to grin a little, but he knew that right now wasn't the best time to deal with this - everyone happened to be staring. "Let's deal with this case file first, yeah? You can come back with me later and we can talk, yeah?" He suggested, ruffling the fur on the wolf-dog's head a little to convey that his statement was positive instead of negative. 0 players like this post! Beatrice perked up as cases started to get handed out. "Thank god. " She mumbled. As long as she wasn't dealing with a murderer or some shit, she was happy to do anything today. She was a bit worried that the chief wasn't there, but hey, that was probably just her brain screwing with her. She stood up, absolutely ready to get out and start patrol. Now that she thought of it, she sort of wanted something interesting to happen. Not in a bad way, just... She needed something different. She had a bunch that they had been assigning her to areas with lower crime rates, thinking she was fragile or something. She bounced on her heels, ready for her location assignment.
