Credit for this idea goes to Beau [Side], from whom I won a lovely pie girl. This is a pride that's on the brink of something terrible. Turquoise Lagoon knows that, and that's why she's eager to get her precious cub far away from here. Lions have been called from all across the land to have a go at trying to take in this young lioness, who will surely prove an asset to their pride. A lioness was visible through the flowers and blossoms of the hill, though even these seemed to wither in the rotting darkness that had fallen over the land. The lioness was the color of a sunrise, mottled with cloud-like white spots. She wore something like a golden crown, and a yellow flower. "We're so happy you're here!" she greets, her tail swaying back and forth. "My name is Horizon Red. We've recently had a lovely young lioness born into this pride, and her mother is worried about leaving her at the tree. So we've invited you all here so little Sweet Pea can choose her family for herself." The Cub: Sweet Pea To be able to participate, all you have to do is post a small RP response which replies to the prompt for the day. I will respond to all of the posts at the end of the day. Each day counts as one ticket, with a max of ten tickets total possible. The day after this closes, I'll pick a random person to win. RULES 1. One post per person per day 2. This ends on the 18th 3. Neither your post length nor the content will affect your chances of winning 4. I'd prefer it if you didn't play Sweet Pea in your posts, only your own lion, though it's alright if it's just a bit 5. If you missed some, you can jump right in, no problem 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 19/09/22 @ 09:46:48 by Sentient Being (#142426) |

Out on his daily stroll, the sight of a stray cheetah cub reminded Scarlet Letter of Sweet Pea. He decided to pay the cub and Horizon a visit as he had been disappointed that he couldn’t meet them the other day along with Coral and Dusk. As he approached the pair, he saw Sweet Pea wrestling with a tattered weasel pelt. Moving closer, he was struck by the atrociousness of her hunting form. Scarlet Letter shook his head and smiled in amusement. Stopping her mid pounce, he took pity on the cub and taught her the proper way to swiftly take out her prey. He thought that even cubs should be taught some sort of hunting as they one day may be the main hunters of the pride. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Winter: Sweet Pea looked up at the festively-decorated king, distracted momentarily from her weasel pelt. She seems unsure how to respond at first, listening as the king gives her a suggestion. Seeing him dip his head slightly, she seems bolstered and her ego a bit more inflated. She gives an overly-thoughtful look, as though deciding whether she will take his suggestion or continue the way she's going. After only a few second, though, she says in a regally tiny voice, "Hmmm . . . I'll try it." She follows what Albedo told her to do and does much better! Rather pleased with herself, she says to him in a queenly manner, "Good suggestion." Zhāng: Horizon greets Oil pleasantly, quite used to him coming around, and doesn't look twice as he goes over to help Sweet Pea. The cub seems receptive to his advice, listening politely, but like many cubs when told what to do, she isn't the best at taking directions. She's quite huffy to have her tail posture corrected, but does take his advice and winds up doing much better by the end of the day. She seems to be enjoying herself - she does have a minor mental breakdown in the middle when she trips over her own feet, but she's up and running within a few minutes. She gives Oil a flower she picked to go behind his ear, "to match his wings" she says. Beau: Horizon was very happy to see Harvest, and even more delighted to meet her cub. It was almost like meeting a little sister - after all, Harvest had raised her. She was immediately taken up with talking to her broodmother, and told her this and that. She mentioned some worries about her king, which she hadn't really discussed earlier, but she moved on from the topic quickly and started chatting about Sweet William. She said she may very well be able to get him over there next time Harvest visited. Sweet Pea, meanwhile, was happy as eve to have a new cub to play with. She asked about Amber, quite haughty in a cubbish way that she had not come. But she let Summer show her some moves, applauded like a broodmother encouraging her cubs, and then suggested Summer pretend to be her cub so she could "hunt" for her and put her to sleep. They played until the two were too exhausted to play anymore. skye: Horizon seemed glad to see Scarlet Letter again, and happy to have someone to teach Sweet Pea a thing or two about hunting, since she had no experience. Sweet Pea was eager to show the great king her moves, and mortally offended by the first small correction - which she quickly got over, starting to do what he was telling her. She wasn't super good at following directions, but was enthusiastic, at least, and quite keen to climb on Scarlet Letter's massive shoulders and pretend he was a "mammoth" that she was bringing down with her mighty claws. At some point it devolved from actual learning to her insisting he must die a dramatic death if he was going to be a mammoth, but she did improve quite a bit over the day. 0 players like this post! Capricorn Paced over to Sweet Pea once more, his thick fur clinging to his skin like a possum does to it's mother. The heat bore down on the earth and scorched everything bathed in the pools of warmth. 'Sweet pea,' He said 'I know it's terribly hot today, but I've brought someone to help you with the heat.' Behind Capricorn Stood beautiful young tigon queen. Her fur shimmered with pink and blue, almost irridecent in the sunlight. 'This is Hydrangea,' He went on 'I borught her because she knows how to swim! She's very good at it too. I was wondering if you'd like to have some lessons with her?' 0 players like this post! Albedo listened to the sound of sweet pea complaining, and padded over. He nosed the cub and said “Get into the shallower parts of the stream. The water will cool you down.” He then proceeded to nudge her paw into the water “Is that better?” 0 players like this post! Like? The thick foliage of The Primordial Jungle was enough to hide Bastet from the scorching rays of the sun. Although this comfort didn't last long, as she found herself on the other side of the forest, where steep hills and plains greeted her. Surprised at this new discovery, she ventured further into the unknown lands. Common sense told her to stop and turn back, but there was something in her that told her to keep going. Some sort of hidden instinct of hers told her something was wrong, and she needed to find out what it was, maybe help it if she could. Eventually, she found herself on top of a hill covered in flowers and blossoms. Although, there was something off about them. They looked as if they were withering away. The alabaster piebald walked up a little closer, only for her stomach to turn. An unmistakable stench of death made its way into her nose drills. It lasted only a second, but it was enough to make the lioness recoil in disgust. Despite this, she pushed onward, although more carefully this time. On top of that same hill, she spotted a lioness with a pelt reflecting that of sunrise, with cloud-like white spots speckled on it. With her was a small, green-pelted cub, who was laying on her side near a small stream, complaining about how hot it was. It made Bastet smile a little. She was right of course, the sun made the day unbearable, but it wasn't that bad, was it? She kept on watching the cub with amusement, not realizing she was steadily making herself more visible to the cub's caretaker by walking up closer and closer to them. Eventually, the sound of a twig snapping under her paws made her panic, and she quickly retreated back into her hiding spot, trying not to attract more attention to herself. 0 players like this post! Oil slinked over to Sweet pea. Hearing her complaints he decides to figure something out with that little noggin of his. With his pride not so far away, he dragged Pantalone and Melon on over to get Sweet Pea all wet and cool during this hot day. Both cubs, although a few months apart, loved helping Sweet pea get cool by "dragging" her into the river with them. "Does that solve your problem now Sweet Pea? Hah!" Oil laughs, opting to lay under a tree with a smaller stream nearby, he watches them to make sure they dont get in any trouble. //finally remembered to post today hah, this is Melon since I havent mentioned her until now https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?id=794170232790 not sure if you've seen Pantalone yet though so here she is too https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?id=794170114440 have a nice day 0 players like this post! TODAY'S PROMPT Today is a hot, hot day, the kind of hot day that makes you want to do nothing but lie down and let the sun pound you into the ground. Sweet Pie is flopped on her side near a small stream, moaning about how hot it is. Horizon is under the shade, drooping with sweat. The flies are buzzing, and nothing else is moving. "I'm so HOT!" Sweet Pea cries. "Make me not hot!" “Shuddup Sweat pea.” Karen grunted, using his paws to cover his head. The sun’s heat was beating down on all the lions of his pride, and he was miserable. Their hard rocky territory didn’t provide much shelter from the sun, and the small streams that trickled through were almost completely dried out. Karen gasped as sweat pea lunger her claws at his face. “I want water-“ She wined, glancing at the pathetic muddy stream that couldn’t even hold a goldfish if you squeezed it in. “Astro is out collecting water-storing plants for us to drink out of, just wait until sundown.” He pushed the small green cub off. “Know what, I remembered that Vincent was setting up a hide and seek game, and the winner gets African Cacti.” “Really!?” The green blob bounced up and down, her droopy ears and tail had instantly perked up. She raced out of sight, somewhere towards the other cubs, as Karen nestled into a pile of cool grass. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Harvest approached on shaky paws, Amber at the broodmothers side, letting her lean against her, Summer running ahead of them, the cub was more then excitedly shouting about her “friend” Harvest flopped right next to Horizon, out of breath, Amber running off to go fetch her water. “I just wanted to see you today.” Harvest said, gasping for air, “I guess I wasn’t expecting it to get so hot.” 0 players like this post! Triangle: Sweet Pea looked up to see who it was who was going to help her not scald her fur off. Upon seeing the queen, she flopped back down, quite certain that this lioness wasn't going to make her less hot. Unless she had ice powers? Now Sweet Pea was slightly interested. But, upon hearing that the queen knew how to swim, she seemed indignant. "I know how to swim!" she said proudly, puffing out her chest. "Look, I'll show you!" With that, she went racing right into the water, splashing everyone nearby. "Come on!" she called to Hydrangea. "Pretend to be a sea monster!" She spent a long time swimming around, tussling with Hydrangea, and being rescued from a harmless water snake by her. By the end, she was completely cooled off. (Ticket counted for 9/14/22!) Winter: Sweet Pea, despite Albedo's good advice, didn't seem to want to move. She laid like a limp noodle, and when he nosed her into the water, she shrieked with laughter and fell with a great plop. "Hey!" she giggled, and then splashed him in the face. "This water is too hot!" She laughed to herself and sat herself down in the water to marinate in coolness, looking much happier. (Ticket counted for 9/14/22!) Uchawi: The flower hill was bustling with lions, all of whom had come to see little Sweet Pea, and Horizon was very happy. She had hoped for at least one good king or queen to show some interest - and now there were nearly as many here as had shown up for her own leaving-of-pride. She had a few lions to talk to, and of course her family. Though it was unbelievably hot, she had found a spot in the shade that provided some protection. She could easily have gone into the water, but she hadn't been raised near the springs and still wasn't very fond of getting wet. As she chatted, she could hear very little but her conversation and the shouts of play in the stream. But as she heard the snap of a twig, she looked up. There was a lovely pale-coated lioness who was watching Sweet Pea. Horizon excused herself and stood to introduce herself to the lioness, since it seemed she didn't realize what was going on here. "Good morning," she said gently, worried she might startle the lioness. "I haven't seen you around here. I see you're watching little Sweet Pea." She invited the lioness to come sit with her so she could fully explain what was happening, and that Sweet Pea's mother didn't feel she would be safe in the pride. She was vey curious about Bastet's pride, too, not so very far away. Soon enough Sweet Pea, soaking wet, came over to Horizon to complain that she was hungry. Catching sight of Bastet, she seemed immediately taken with her necklace. "May I touch it?" she asked very politely. "I know what it's called! Phantom quartz! My mommy told me that. She said she would find it all over at her old home. I'm gonna have jewelry one day, maybe. Like a shawl and earrings and stuff." She seems cooled off enough to tell Bastet about some of the amazing jewelry she will some day own, but soon becomes hot and agitated and remembers she's hungry. "I think we'd better head back," Horizon says. "I really hope you'll come back again soon." (Ticket counted for 9/14/22!) Zhāng: Sweet Pea, always happy to see other cubs, looks torn between getting up and having fun or continuing to complain. In the end, though, she decides to stay flopped down dramatically and let them try and get her up. Sure enough, their first instinct was to pull her into the stream to cool off. She protested loudly and giggled, and then knocked them over into the water. "Oil! Come in!" Sweet Pea called, but was immediately distracted by her haunches being attacked by one of the little cubs. She shrieked and turned to play with them, forgetting all about everything else. Horizon, on the other paw, was quite happy to pad over to Oil to have a little chat with him, and invited him to come meet some of the other lions she knew. (Ticket counted for 9/14/22!) Adonis: Sweet Pea seemed to forget how hot she was as she ran about, looking for other cubs so she could win herself a tasty, thirst-quenching stripped cactus. Though she didn't wind up winning, the winner did let her have a sip, and when she got back Horizon had an entire water root for her. (Ticket counted for 9/14/22!) Beau: Horizon ran over to help Harvest, looking very worried. "Are you feeling alright? Do you need to lie down?" she asked fretfully. "Here, come and sit in the shade." Watching her, Horizon glanced at Sweet Pea, who was off playing with some other cubs and kings. She smiled to herself. "You wait here just a moment," she said to Harvest and Amber. "I'll bring you a surprise . . . two." She padded over to a rainbow-winged king to ask him to keep an eye on Sweet Pea, and took off with surprising speed considering how the heat was beating down. Rather quickly, she came back carrying a bundle of water roots in a scrap of fabric. And behind her ambled another lion, slower and creaking with older age. As he got closer, though, his eyes glinted with excitement. "Harvest!" Sweet William said, moving forward more quickly. He sat down next to her, and Horizon bounded after, looking quite pleased with herself. "Here, have some water," she said to Harvest and Amber, dropping the water roots. Sweet William had eyes only for Harvest, and he was immediately his old talkative self, though he had more of a rasp to his voice and he talked to bit slower. Today wasn't as hot as before. Bastet once again snuck out of the camp, excited to see Horizon Red and Sweet Pea. She had grown fond of both of the lions and was eager to chat with them for a while. The little cub's talk about her future jewelry yesterday was so sweet and innocent, her heart almost melted right there and then. She wondered if Sweet Pea would end up in her pride. If so, she would make sure she got all the jewelry she wanted. The joyful spring in the piebald lionesses' steps didn't last long. As she got closer, the rancid odor of death returned, this time with such intensity, that it almost hammered her into the ground. Resisting the urge to throw up, she pushed onward, until she could see Horizon Red and Sweet Pea again. This time, however, there was something wrong. Both lions seemed afraid of something. "What's going on?" Bastet asked, but didn't need an answer from them to know exactly what was happening. The smell became more intense, and she could spot something in the corner of her eye. She immediately turned her head towards whatever it was, only to see a terrible sight. Two reddish eyes stared back at her from the darkness of that hill, only the horns of whatever that was visible. Bastet suddenly felt a type of rage she never felt before. Her eyes began to sting as they always did when they started glowing. With an almost authoritarian grace, she made her way toward the shadowy omen, stopping not too far from it. It seemed to be watching her every step. "In the name of The Ancient Ones, and all that is pure, I command you to leave this sight immediately" She said, her tone of voice suddenly ringing, as if some other power spoke through her "may you find a different place to roam, and trouble the lions of this land no more!" The shadow seemed to shrink at her words, and it dispersed into thin air right at her last word. The smell left the alabaster lionesses nose drills, as she turned to the other two lions with a gentle smile. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Nephthys approached with Harvest, choosing to accompany her and Amber after Harvests incident last time. She shuffled Harvest, muttering to stay here, and gave Horizon a gentle head bump. Harvest laid down, her cub choosing to cuddle up to her, Amber settling between the two and quietly reassuring Sweet Pea. Nephthys, without hesitation, patrolled over, maneuvering herself between the others and the omen. Time with the Harbinger had taught her well enough not to get too close, but within the range to hear and burst into battle if need be. Harvest watched, the fur on the back of her neck raised, after the excitement of seeing William, today seemed like a major contrast, an almost worrying amount. Summer pressed up against her mother, asking softly if they could go home, though eventually moved to try and play with Sweet Pea. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Both Scarlet Letter and Coral are here today. Excitedly they both approach Horizon. A shiver goes down Coral's spine and she alerts Scarlet Letter to the danger. Coral steps back and joins Horizon and Sweet Pea and reassures them despite being nervous herself. She's glad she didn't bring Dusk today. Scarlet Letter emits a low growl before approaching the creature with confidence. Fangs bared and claws unsheathed he is ready to fight the omen at a moments notice. Let's hope it doesn't get that far though... 0 players like this post! Like? |
