Thorn'paw paws felt sore. He noticed Lynx'Call was already waiting for him outside of the apprentice den. He lowered his ears. Embarrassment flooded him.

Flamingpaw paused for a moment before flicking her tail half-excitedly. "I guess I can try it.." She frowned, raising her nose again to try and pinpoint the location of the prey.

A smile flit across Shade’Feather’s face for a brief moment as he sat down to watch, silently taking notes in his head. He really hoped she could succeed on her first try, but he also knew that with his strange teaching it might not be likely. He would take notes on that also, for what he would need to change for later. No matter his skill he wouldn’t be a good warrior if he couldn’t pass his skill to the next generation.

Flamingpaw lowered her nose as she noticed the scent was stronger near the base of a tree a few feet away. She double-checked to make sure she wasn't incorrect, and, satisfied that she was not, crouched down quietly. Remembering Shadefeather's comments on posture, she adjusted silently, tail frozen over the grass. She crept forward slightly, making sure she made no noise. After sneaking forward some more, she saw the gray body of the mouse hunched near the roots, nibbling on a seed. She froze, whiskers twitching as the scent filled her nostrils. She watched the mouse for a moment, making sure it couldn't smell her, before shooting forward, grabbing it with her outstretched claws and swiping it towards her, nipping it on the neck. She stood up and turned, a small smile on her face as she held the limp mouse in her jaws. She quickly noticed that she was smiling and fixed it, silently chastising herself for her slip up.

Shade’Feather nodded silently as she went about the hunt. When she turned back with a successful kill he smiled at her, noticing the smile on her own face, but it quickly disappeared.
“Nice job! You definitely have some really good hunting skills. I’m excited for more training sessions. But since today was the first, why don’t we head back to show the clan what you managed to catch.” He praised her, swishing his tail. As he started walking back he made a mental note that he should go out again later today to bring back more prey, but he would leave it up to Flaming’Paw if she wanted to go out again, or just rest. He paused and glanced back, waiting for her.

Flamingpaw nodded and jumped over, her lithe body landing quietly on the grass as she waited for him to take the lead. Her tail twitched as she held the limp body of the mouse, taking notes of what she did today.

Shade’Feather trotted back into camp, having finished the training session for now. He flicked his tail toward the prey pile.
“Go ahead and drop off your mouse there, and go get some rest.” He spoke to Flaming’Paw. “I’m going to rest for a bit, then head back out hunting. Your free to join me again if you would like some more training. Otherwise you can take the rest of the day off, or go see if the medicine cats or elders need anything.” He turned and made his way to the warriors den.

Flamingpaw blinked her understanding and trotted over to the pile, dropping the mouse lightly on the top. Satisfied, she decided that she might as well go out again later. To help the clan, obviously. She yawned and settled into a patch of sunlight, taking a small nap.
