Her stomach began to rumble. There was about an hour left before sunset and the evening winds were starting to pick up. The scent of new lions grew stronger as they stood there. This was strange… she hadn’t seen many lions in a while, and yet here a bunch were. Maybe they knew one another? Maybe they were all lost souls trying to find their place in this land?

“The sun will be setting soon and I can smell others in the area. Maybe it’s time for us to move out of this area and devise a plan for hunting. There is a herd of gazelles in this area that wanders out just after the sun begins to attract. I have seen some babies born late this season, so we might be able to split a mother from the herd.” She paused, hearing a roar in the distance. “Whoever that is might get to them first.”

Astraios trotted up to the river with quite a bit of speed. The sun was beating hard against him, and he started to build up bit of a pant. He was sorta in his “own world” and didn’t realize the territory he may be crossing. As he got closer to the water, he let out a loose shake before getting interrupted by a distant roar, snapping him into reality.
His head quickly shot in the direction… or the area he thought it was coming from, and froze. For a second or two he stood there just staring in the distance. It sounded like an older male, which I could possibly be danger for him… but it seemed quite far which eased his mind slightly. After a moment of staring, and the roar dieing off, the rippling sound of the water re-caught his attention. Quickly dipping down for a drink.

She began to trot away from her den, hoping the other two would follow. There were so many new scents in the area and it was time she check them out.

Continuing on the followed the river back to where they had been. There she saw another lion. Strange that so many newcomers are in the area. she thought to herself. She let out a low chuff, hoping to come off as welcoming and not a threat.

Astraios was grabbing a quick drink as his ear’s twitched to the lioness walking near. He turned his head towards her, then back to the water before drawing away from it, focusing back towards the lioness. She seemed sort of “friendly” so he decided to test his luck.

He ran up to her, sort of fumbly, jumping messily all over the place. As he reach her, he seemed to have tripped, rolling before her. Picking his head he shook his scruffed up mane, before rolling back down. Pawing at her playfully.

Mud | 4yrs | Bi | Den area -> River | Mentions: Am, Lyla, other lion

As Lyla still proposed her idea to go hunting she heard a roar coming from the distance. Out of panic she waited straight into a defensive stance, showing her teeth towards the entrance of Lylas den. However Lyla stayed calm and so Mud got up again, slightly embarrassed of herself.

Although Mud had gone through a lot, so had Lyla. The other lioness had talked about lions being sent away that were seen as not worthy because they couldn't always bring food home, even when it was a rough time to even locate anything living!? Sheer anger at their king had been fighting inside her until Lyla finished her story.

"Lyla, I'm very sorry for what your pride had to go through or still goes through, I'm glad and thankful that... Menhit saved you from your father, you have welcome great without hin."

Mud quietly walked over to Lyla and, just as Lyla did to her before, rubbed her cheek against Lyla's shoulder as to show empathy. Then they got up to leave, Lyla at front as she knew her territory best. They trotted towards a river, where another lion stood? Mud was about to ask Lyla if she knew him, but she had said that she hadn't seen a lot of other lions for a long time...

Although Lyla greeted the lion in a nice way, Mud couldn't stop herself to show her claws, even if they were just still being buried in the ground, the lion might aswell know that she can defend herself if he attacked. As he was a male she couldn't be just sure what he did out here without a pride.... When the lion got closer he seemed to stumble and trip before pawing at Lyla. Mud's eyes widened as she saw the clumsy thing?... What was this?!

"Paws of my friend."

Mud has stepped forwards next to Lyl as her voice came out in a low rumble. Her claws were still out and her teeth were showing aswell. This thing wasn't acting to her liking and if he wouldn't stop she wouldn't hold back to make him stop. The way he acted made her brain ache, it was... confusing to say the least.

Astraios was playfully pawing at the lioness for quite a bit before another intervened, this one seemed not as friendly… her sudden boost of words seemed to have startled him, catching him off guard. He quickly flipped himself back upright and sat more “correctly” this time. Creating some space in between them. “geez, what got her tail in a knot..“ He mumbled underneath his breathe.

This was the first time he had seen other lions since he was chased from his former pride, so he didn’t quite know how to make proper greetings. Reading the room, he decided to calm down a bit, as one was unease about his manor. she’ll get used to me… eventually he thought.

Quickly correcting himself, he let out a light nervous laugh, hoping to break the tension. “ I’m astraios “ puffing up his chest as he spoke, which he quickly dropped as he awaited an answer.

She stepped back as the lion pawed at her, giving him a weird look. “What are you doing?” Mud was quick to defend her which made her smile a bit. She stepped beside her new friend and sat.

She nudged Mud a little, “I think he’s confused or maybe he’s not all there?” she whispered so that he couldn’t hear them. Looking back to the other lion, “Well Astraios, what are you doing here?” She chose not to introduce herself since he was acting so strange.

He looked at the two lioness before him as they stared back at him. He didn’t quite know what he was doing himself, so he didn’t quite know how to answer their question, not like he even had an answer. “ eurrmm… “ he trailed off as he looked around, sort of getting another glimpse of the River and buying time to figure out an answer. But he didn’t have one, he was just wandering around before he ran into them.

“ well… I was getting a drink ? “ he spoke as if questioning his own words, not quite confident in what he was saying. “ And then I ran into you guys! “ he nodded quickly, sticking his head back up sort of proud.

She scoffed a little, “Well, why were you doing…” she gestured to all of him “that thing?” His movements were strange to her. Only cubs acted like that and this lion was clearly an adult. Maybe this was the new ‘thing’ in the prides. “Whatever that was,” gesturing to him again, “it was strange.”

She nudged Mud not knowing what to do with this newcomer. Males were often testy with lionesses in her experience, so it was nice to have another lioness to back her up. “Besides that,” she spoke to the male now, “don’t you belong to some pride or band of roaming males or something like that. You’re a long ways away from pride lands.”

Mud still bared her teeth, the weird pawing had given her a headache and shivers. He was overly confusing her and although she didn't want to show it, astraios scared her a bit. Lonely males were nothing to mess with. But they were two, Lyla and herself, so they would be able to stand up against him. However, she somewhat thought that she herself would be able to take it up with the male.

As Astraios explained or rather tried to find an excuse to why he ran into them. Mud was vary of him, he acted exactly like a cub and she could only agree with Lyla's "I think he’s confused or maybe he’s not all there?".

Mud stood beside Lyla, however slightly further infront of her as if to protect her. She forced herself to repax altough her claws were still out nefore she spoke.

"Astraios you say, thats your name? Answer her question."

Mud whispered a small "I'm not too fond with him being here, if he doesn't give an explanation I'll see to get him away...". It was a whisper directed mainly at Lyla but she made sure to hiss it loud enough for Astraios to also hear.

Astraios stood himself up. They weren't as friendly as he had thought and in case things were to escalate, he wanted to be prepared. Quietly he stood, stuck over a thought of what Lyla said but quickly brushed it away when Mud seemed to have threatened him. His ears pinned to her remark and sudden demand.

" I didn't care for my pride, " he lied, " so I left them." Shrugging he hoped the subject would drop. His pride kicked him out and he wasn't all too fond of the whole situation. Made him feel weak, useless, unwanted, things he didnt want to talk about, especially with two strangers.

Continuing he spoke, " so.. I've been sort of exploring, I guess. Tried to hunt, didnt quite catch anything. " he mumbled the last bit annoyed as it brought up him remembrance of hunger from earlier. Continuing he spoke clearer, " got water, ran into you two... and now we are all caught up. " He nodded before staring back at them. He wanted to add some humor to the situtation, sorta loosen the tension, but didnt quite know how. It felt like they were interrogating him and he didnt appreciate it. " Is that all.. or is it my turn? " He mocked, referring to questions he'd like to ask.

As the lion spoke back to them as seemed to mock them, Mud couldn't resist the urge to show this male what respect meant.

With another low hiss of "that's it, your fault", she leaped onto Astraios, tangling into him to rip him of his paws. She roared loudly, trying to do everything but to let him up again.

"You should respect us!! You showed up here with no remorse and mock us!"

She tried scratching him more.

Males don’t normally just leave… there must be more to this. she thought to herself. They were definitely asking a lot of questions so she could see where he was coming from. She started to speak, “Ye-“ but she couldn’t get a word out before Mud jumped him! “Mud!” She yelled and tried to pull her back. “He’s not threatening us! He has the right to ask us some questions too! For all he knows, neither of us could even live here. We can at least hear him out and if he is a threat… well there are two of us and one of him. I think we have better odds.” She tried to pull her off again and managed to free Astraios for just a moment before letting Mud go again. She would most definitely be pissed, but Mud was new here too so it wasn’t really up to her whether he stayed or not. She wouldn’t mention this yet.

Astraios was caught off guard by the sudden pounce. Swept off his paws, he was pinned down by the lioness. He wasn’t able to get back up and regain his ground but he was able to scratch her back. Where he was able to nip her a few times catching some blood (void if you don’t want this to happen to your oc^^).

It was all happening so fast, he almost missed his moment of escape. When he noticed lyla intervening, creating some space between the two. He regained his ground and created an even bigger space between them. He stared at the two, teeth bared, claws sheathed, and tail flicking. He couldn’t read whether the lioness was trying to help him or whether she was budding up with the other, he couldn’t take both of them on, he knew his limits. He wasn’t there for more than a second before letting out a huff and running off.

insane he thought as he ran to the closest shaded tree along the River bank. crazy. Letting a loose shake, he layed himself down underneath the tree, disengaging from them for the time being. He kept them in his line of sight as he began to lick his paws, his efforts in cleaning himself. His ears stayed pinned as his tail flipped repetitively.

Mud | 4 yeas | Bi | Den area | Mentions: Lyla & Astraios

Although Lyla's voice was clear and did infact hit her ears, Mud ignored her, anger sparked in her that made it difficult for her to stop herself. Astraios did manage to hit her back, groaning in pain. Mud continued to hold him down, scratching his stomach with her hind claws a couple of times before Lyla interfered holding her back from getting to him again. He bared his teeth at her, so did she towards him, Lyla in the middle. As if he knew she'd attack him again as soon as she could, he took the moment to run.

Mud was still heavily roaring after him, threatening this and that before her heartbeat slowly allowed her to calm down. Her vision became clear again, after being a bit blury from the whole situation. She had attacked a random male on Lyla's territory and she hadn't even stopped after she had wanted her to. Ooof....

The brown lioness turned to Lyla her head low, scars on her back still bleeding and aching. Quietly she muttered

"I'm so sorry Lyla, it wasn't right of me. And no explanation can make it right, I attacked him on your grounds but I can't deal with being mocked..."
