A heavy sounding thud filled the back alleyway. The sun was setting, it was the evening before trash day. Unbeknownst to the female dog scrounging through the large garbage bin. She licked her chops, using her teeth to tear open a black trash bag. She sniffed around inside the plastic confines, but was unsuccessful in finding anything edible. Dahlia let out a frustrated huff and sat down. She continued on, finding her way behind a humanβs home. The mutt looked around, trying to find the trash cans. She used her incredible nose, attempting to pick up a scent of something good. The sun was setting, taking away a good bit of her sense of sight. This just made her more determined to find something. She had been unsuccessful all day. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 01/12/23 @ 10:37:41 by YesSirEee (#432126) |

Juno had been resting on his dog bed silently listening his owner watching his sports program before a noise coming from outside alerted him. The truck had been there earlier to collect their trash, but this sound was different. It was almost like his gut could tell him that there was an another dog outside and he was curious who had entered into his yard. Standing up to his impressive full height, Juno tried to look out of the window, but could see nothing. He had keen eyes yes, due to his breed, but even the eyes of a sighthound wouldn't work that well in the darkness. However, now that he had stood up, he could smell the strange scent even stronger around the house and that made the male pull his ears back as he whined a little heading to the door. Noticing that his whines were ignored by his owner, Juno let out a deep sharp bark to tell him that he wished to go outside. The man, who was his owner, turned to look at the dog with a sigh. "We just did the bathroom walk a while ago and you want to go again?" he asked, but the only response the man would get was Juno pulling his ears back a little and wagging his tail almost apologetically. With an another sigh, the man eventually got up putting a soft leather collar around his Borzoi's neck, it was much wider than the regular one and wouldn't add too much pressure on his neck. He then attached a leash to it then put on a jacket and his trainers before leading Juno out of the door. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Dahlia managed to find a moldy half loaf of bread, ripping it open and quickly digging in. Her tail wagged slightly, but she remained alert. She barely hear the bark coming from inside, paying no attention to it. In her mind, it was more than likely just an irritating pet dog. She wasnβt a big fan of pets. They stayed on leashes when outside, unless inside a fence. She didnβt envy them in that aspect. But food.. they didnβt have to wonder when they would get their next meal. They didnβt have to scavenge or dig through garbage. They got a warm bed to sleep in, not the wet and dirty crawlspace underneath an abandoned house. However, she didnβt like humans. Hated them even. She had humans once.. but they didnβt like how her ears wouldnβt stand right. So, now sheβs here. Digging through another dogβs trash. Her ears perked and she looked over at the door to the house. It sounded like something was happening. Could it be dangerous? She stepped back, narrowing her eyes slightly to adjust to the darkness. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Once outside, Juno quickly trotted the stairs down before heading to nearby flower bush to mark his territory. After that he barked again before turning towards the back of the house. His ears pulled back a little as he heard sounds coming from there. Juno growled starting to creep closer towards the sounds while making sure that his owner would be protected at all costs. It really wasn't even a difficult task given his big size. As they walked behind the corner of the house, Juno saw a black female dog going through their trash. "And what do you think you are doing?" he asked his tone cold as ice while his eyes were piercing as icicles. Some pet dogs might have gotten scared when they saw stray ones, but not Juno. His breed was used to hunt even wolves and to attack them and the male sure had inherited his ancestors' fearless spirit. 0 players like this post! Like? |

The female shook her head before going back to quickly eating the bread. Once it was all gone she went back to rummaging through the trash, wanting something more. She was still starving! She froze as she heard the rather loud bark, her wonky ears pricking up once more. Dahlia slowly stepped back and turned to look at the larger male. But, this was her meal, she wasnβt giving it up! She growled, but then after a bit more of looking at him, she realized he was a pet. He wouldnβt want the food. However, he seemed to be territorial. "Eating, whatβs it look like, pet?" Her hackles raised as she spoke, narrowing her eyes at him. "Whaddya want? Iβm trying to fill my belly." 0 players like this post! Like? |

Juno glared at her growling as he bared his sharp white canines at her. "Perhaps you should do that somewhere else. There happens to be a fence around this house for a reason. Strays... aren't welcomed," the male growled his eyes cold and sharp. He most certainly wasn't one of those dogs who wagged their tails happily upon seeing a potential new friend. He didn't care about making friends and he most definitely was a territorial one. The male stopped when he was close enough to her to be more intimidating, but also far enough so that she couldn't easily grab him should she wish to attack. His ears flickered a little when he hears sirens nearby, it seemed to be an ambulance rushing to save someone's life. Juno, however, didn't pay much attention to that sound as his focus was fully fixed on the black female. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"I donβt think I want to." Dahlia snarled, curling her lips back as he showed off his own canines. She shot a glare at him, taking a step back when he moved closer. Her eyes shifted to the human behind him. The human made her uncomfortable. She wasnβt a small dog herself, but this guy was huge. Mostly tall. It disturbed her a bit. "You wouldnβt know how it feels to starve, pet. Leave me be, Iβm not causing any harm. This is my food, your upwalkers threw it out." She barked, her deep brown eyes staring at him. She was unfazed by the siren, focused entirely on the male dog disturbing her peace. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"Your food it might be as you claim, but this happens to be my territory and the last I checked my owner hasn't adopted any strays..." he said glaring at her. Juno wasn't showing any signs that he would be backing down. Her barks, stares and even seeing her canines didn't scare him even a little. "Besides... I wasn't asking what you wanted," the male said making sure to keep himself between the female and his owner. Even though he was tall, Juno had very slender frame that was shown even beneath his longer fur. Like a typical greyhound, he too was on the skinnier side, though most certainly wasn't starved. He kept staring at her indicating that he was ready to fight should the situation call for that. He wasn't the one to start fights, but he sure didn't shy away from them either. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"This doesnβt even affect you!" The female snarled, taking a few steps closer. "Every single meal youβve ever eaten has been handed to you! Let me have this one thing! I wonβt even be long. Iβve had to work all day for this. Let me eat. Go back inside and eat your little brown pellets." She shook her head, flattening her ears back against her head. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"And if I will leave you alone this time, you will return here tomorrow like a plague? And yet again I'm just to stand aside and let you freely enter into my territory to do whatever you please, is that so?" Juno asked. He didn't like her attitude, things might have been very different, if she had asked permission to enter into his yard first, or like admitted that she was trespassing and apologized for that, but it seemed that it wouldn't be like that. "Oh, and why should I go inside?" he asked tilting his head a little. He would have gone out sooner or later anyway. Of course he knew that she wanted him just to leave her alone, but he wasn't going to let her win that easily. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"Eugh.. I wasnβt going to come back. Especially not after knowing thereβs a pampered purebred living here." Dahlia chuffed, "you have no idea how hard it is for strays." She shook her head. "Yβknow what, this isnβt worth it. Iβll either starve or find a new spot." The female had given up, turning around and padding off. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Juno didn't like how the stray female was making assumptions. He knew that strays didn't have easy life, however, he also didn't think that stealing was right. He, however, chose not to mention anything about the purebreds who weren't lucky enough to have a good homes that would feed them. Juno didn't think even for a moment that she would feel anything but pure hatred towards them. He didn't even try to stop her when she turned and left and instead kept staring after her before he turned around whining a little to his owner nudging him towards their usual evening walking route. 0 players like this post! Dahlia only remained away from the garbage cans and that house in particular for a minute. Eventually, her conscience won her over. She sighed deeply, irritated with herself. But, she was hungry. That place for sure had food. And technically, she did trespass. She flattened her ears back against her head before reappearing from around the corner. "Look. I apologize for intruding. And.. technically stealing. I would.." she groaned, rolling her eyes before continuing. "Greatly appreciate it if you would allow me to stay and eat." 0 players like this post! Like? |

Juno was surprised how her attitude had changed. His eyes softened a little and he nodded. "Because you asked first, I'll allow you to stay and eat," he said. However, he looked at her and the garbage. "However, I don't allow you to eat the garbage," Juno said. By this point his owner had released him from the leash and returned back inside when he had noticed that his dog wasn't that keen on actually going on for a walk, but chose to stay in the yard instead. Juno quickly trotted inside where he went straight to his feeding bowl that had a big fresh juicy bone with plenty of meat that his owner had given him just few hours earlier. He picked it up and trotted back outside approaching the female. He made sure not to appear threatening as he came closer and laid the bone down near her. "Please, eat this, it has a lot more nourishments and it's a lot more healthier for your body than eating the garbage," Juno said. He might appear cold and distant, but that didn't mean that he didn't have a heart at all. He usually refused to listen to it, but beneath all that layer of ice was a warm heart that hated to see others suffering. It reminded him from his sister who hadn't been lucky enough to be adopted into a good home. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Dahlia let out a relieved sigh once she got permission to remain here. Though her head tilted ever so slightly to the side. Her wonky ears followed, flopping to the side as she did so. "Uhm.. what? What will I eat then? Grass?" She huffed a bit, sitting down. She watched him go inside, looking over at the toppled over trash can and licking her lips. She glanced back over once she heard him return. For a moment she struggled to see the bone, slightly narrowing her eyes. But they widened once she saw exactly what it was. Her tail began wagging at a rather fast pace, she couldnβt believe it. She quickly snatched up the bone and moved back, not wanting him to change his mind. She gnawed on it, pausing for a moment to speak. "Thanks.. I suppose. But why?" She asked. 0 players like this post! Like? |
