Cicadapaw momentarily stops washing her paws when Gentlebreeze enters the camp, selling strongly of herbs. The apprentice's nose wrinkles in distaste. Oh wow, did she sleep in a patch of mint? Though her fur seemed dry, so clearly she had stayed somewhere warm; but where? She hadn't had a chance to explore the territory properly, so she wasn't sure if there was some cozy nook one could stay in. Her eyes glance to Owlstar, and then back to Gentlebreeze as the healer hurries into the healers den. That was....odd? Was Gentlebreeze going to get into trouble? She was acting like she'd done something wrong. Cicadapaw thinks on it, wondering if Owlstar would be mad that she had stayed out all night instead of coming home. She had certainly taken her time, hadn't she? The rain had stopped ages ago. If it had been her, she would've ran home as soon as it was safe. Being alone in the woods all night seemed sort of frightening. Her head turns when Palewind and Mudpaw come in, a weird feeling entering her chest. Well, they seemed happy, didn't they? She had hoped to keep her peace before Mudpaw comes bounding over, showing off the mouse he got. "Congratulations." She meows simply, wanting to be polite despite the way she felt. It would be mean after all, and he seemed happy. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Palewind She trotted over to the two.” I was very impressed with you two today. Any mentor would be lucky to have you two. “ she stated offering them a smile though the she cat felt mildly irritated. Though she wasn’t going to take it out on them. She watched them for a moment before looking around at the other cats in camp. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw Mudpaw sensed that something was amiss with Cicadapaw. He had a strong intuition that she was not behaving as she normally would. He had expected her to be more enthusiastic. He inquired, "Is something bothering you?" Mudpaw was unaware of the thoughts swirling in Cicadapaw's mind, but he was eager to lend a listening ear. The young tom sat beside Cicadapaw waiting for her response. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Nettlesnap A lot of cats were coming back now. He lifted his head wearily, who was it this time? The familiar scent of Palewind and one of the apprentices mixed with the mingling clan blood scent that lingered in camp, piquing his interest. The tom watched as Mudpaw ran off to show off what he could see was a little scrap of prey, puzzled when Palewind followed. He tilted his head slightly, quietly padding over and flicking his tail in greeting to welcome her back from whatever happened in the clan cat patrol. 'Palewind!' He meowed with feigned enthusiasm, tilting his head to one side. His envy still lingered and he stepped on his twitching tail tip with his good paw, the other still sore and wounded. The tom momentarily glanced at the apprentices, moving away from them uncomfortably as it was clear they were having some other sort of conversation. 'Gentlebreeze came back. In case you didnt see her on that patrol.' His eyes narrowed slightly at the last words though he glazed over the annoyance in his tone. Any cat could mistake his irritation for spite, if they even noticed. How could Palewind have just went? He would've wanted to patrol. He knew he couldn't have anyway, Owlstar would've likely refused; Nettlesnap wasn't the best on patrols anyway. But still. As childish as he knew it was he couldn't help his frustration over such things, yet he tried his best to play it off. Palewind was one of the only cats here that had vaguely similar struggles and he didn't want an escalation. 'She didnt say anything. No idea where she even went, just smelled like dank leaves.' He motioned a paw towards the medicine den. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Palewind The she cat perked her ears walking over to Nettlesnap.” Oh thank you for telling me! I wanted to invite you on patrol but I figured you needed rest and so did your paw! When did she come back?” She asked tilting her head still keeping an ear open to listen to the apprentices to ensure she had done nothing wrong, but she somehow wouldn’t be surprised if she did. She sighed softly her eyes focusing on Nettlesnap now.” Strange she didn’t say anything though.” She stated softly as she glanced towards the den. 0 players like this post! Like? Cicadapaw's ears flick as Palewind joins them; though she doesn't say anything in response. She felt like there wasn't much to be very impressed about in an otherwise normal patrol. Though if she said that out loud, she'd probably look ungrateful; so she kept quiet. "Everything's fine." She replies to Mudpaw, watching out the corner of her eye as Palewind leaves to go speak to Nettlesnap. It seemed like everyone was accounted for now, so that meant the meeting would probably happen soon. That is, if Owlstar didn't decide to speak to Gentlebreeze first. Though it looked like the healer didn't want to talk to him, for whatever reason that may be. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Nettlesnap His fur bristled in reaction to Palewind's explanation and he sat down, sinking the tips of partially unsheathed claws into the soil. 'Just before you came back with Mudpaw. Was acting like she was hiding from someone. Could just be in a hurry to do herb cat things though..' The tom trails off, reminded that he had no idea of what medicine cats did other then heal cats. The clan bloods were very complicated mousebrains, if that even made sense. He much preferred when he stayed at the barn and was able to take whatever he wanted, no need to prove himself to stupid cats old enough to crumble into pieces. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw Mudpaw observed his fellow apprentice. "If you insist, then just wait a moment," he said. He swiftly picked up the mouse from the ground before returning to the pile, where he placed the mouse. He then made his way back to Cicadapaw. "That mouse really put up a fight, you know. It even bit my muzzle. Well, it still hurts...ouch," he said as he licked his muzzle, trying to stop the bleeding. He could taste his own blood. "Anyway, now there's plenty of fresh prey in the pile, and we finnished patrolling. All that's left is to wait for Palewind to receive her reward from Owlstar. That means we have some free time. Do you have any fun ideas, Cicadapaw?" he asked, turning towards her and reflecting on what they had done earlier that day. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Reposting, got lost in the pages) Jay He curls his tail underneath his paws, flicking his gaze between Auream and the neighbour cat. The new cat was tiny, and she looked terrified. The tom tilted his head and stared at her, not quite sure what her panic was about. He briefly looked over his shoulder in case anything was behind him then whipped his head back to face the weirdly small neighbours, deciding the older cat was the easiest to talk to. 'My housefolk's monster is very quiet, maybe that's why.' Jay meowed, a hint of confusion in his voice. His browed furrowed as he listened to the tom's explanation, whiskers twitching with growing doubt. 'Really? There was another cat here earlier..' He trailed off, beginning to think it was just the mouse his housefolk gave him playing tricks on his mind. Jay nodded, murmuring Toby's name under his breath to remember it. Toby. What a weird name. 'I'm Jay. Nice to meet you Toby.' The large tom attempted a smile, his tail flicking back and forth like how a dog would show excitement. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Palewind The she cat noted the toms fur bristling a little and her ears fell flat.” Alright then.” She turned her back to the Tom figuring he didn’t want to talk anymore, since it looked like she had irritated him. The she cat kept her irritation hidden though in her ears movement to lie flat against her head and the swish of her tail as she went to a shady spot to groom herself revealed some of that irritation she had been hiding. To her it seemed like everyone was finding a way to be annoyed or irritated with her and all it was doing was causing her irritation. Meanwhile Crowflight is just peacefully waiting for the ceremony to start. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Owlstar He had moved to the side slightly, waiting to see if Gentlebreeze would greet any of her clanmates, but his whiskers had twitched with surprise when she brushed past them, heading straight for the healer's den. The scent of some herb hung thick in the air, making him sneeze, ears flattening and muzzle wrinkling. Eugh. Owlstar hated the strong, cloying scent that usually followed healers around, but this was worse than normal. It was like she had eaten the stuff, and rubbed it all over her fur. Shaking his head slightly, in a attempt to dislodge the scent, Owlstar walked over to the meeting tree. It was finally time to give Palewind her prize, now that she had returned to camp. After that was over, Owlstar would go check on Morningecho, and track down a few cats to join him in sparring. A powerful leap landed him firmly atop the fallen log, leaving him looking rather imposing as he stood, his thick, well groomed coat gleaming in the sunlight. He wasn't a particularly large cat, but seeing him perched like this could definitely be a scary sight. His tail was held high, and his eyes glinted. "Cats of Pineclan! As you all know, Palewind was the cat who won yesterday's contest. But she hasn't received her prize. It's past time to correct that." With a slight flourish, he pulled the large fang from where he had stashed it, dropping it on the tree, where it could be clearly seen by the clan. It was an impressive sight, dappled by the slight sunlight that had crept its way into the clearing. "To reward the strength it takes to deliver a killing bite, me and Thrushtail have chosen to give you this." Owlstar stayed atop the log, waiting for her response. He thought it a worthy prize, but some cats might not enjoy trinkets. Should he say something more? He preferred to keep his infrequent announcements direct and concise. Toby "Jay? Not sure I've ever heard that name before. Well, except from you, of course." Toby finished the sentence with a slight laugh. Jay's flicking tail unnerved him a bit, but the other tom was practically as big as a dog, so it wasn't much of a stretch to think he might act a little like one, too. "Really, though, it's nice to meet you. The last couple twolegs that lived in your nest didn't have any cats, so it was pretty lonely over there for a while." Toby smiled, most of his unease slowly creeping away. If he had been in any danger, it surely would've made itself know by now. The mention of another cat in his garden made him stiffen, heart suddenly pounding. It must be Gentlebreeze Jay was referring to. Tailtip twitching slightly, showing his nervousness, Toby replied. "That was just one of my friends. She doesn't have a nest nearby, so I let her stay in my garden. She isn't the biggest fan of housefolk." 0 players like this post! Like? Palewind The she cat watched Owlstar and she saw the gang her eyes widening a little. It was quite nice looking she would be happy to take it. She wasn’t quite sure what to say so the she cat approached a little closer to Owlstar.” Thank you Owlstar.” She says quietly the warrior was quite nervous of what her clanmates would say, after all Cicadapaw and Nettlesnap both seemed to not like her at this moment so she would probably just ignore them so she wouldn’t become more irritated. 0 players like this post! Jay 'Ah.' The tom nodded uncertainly, not seeming to notice Toby's guarded tone and obvious unease after his question. Curiosity bubbled up in his mind and he had to take a few seconds, pawing lightly at the wooden fence. 'Why doesnt she like housefolk? Is she one of those wild cats?' Jay craned his head down to look fully at the small tom, his pupils thinning as he came to memorise the cat's features. He sighed in relief at the confirmation that the cat he saw earlier was indeed real, as he had been starting to think he might have eaten some catnip or something. Nettlesnap A.. tooth? He pins his ears, snout scrunching in mild disgust at this so called "prize". What was so interesting about a tooth? It probably had hundreds of bacteria.. and would stink. He told himself that he hadn't needed to win anyway, and that it was just a stupid prize for a stupid challenge. The tom padded a little closer to the rock, leaning his ears forward to listen to what was going on as he observed the prize giving ceremony. He watched Palewind go up to take her apparent prize, letting out a quiet meow of congratulations to the she though holding his tongue. She kept walking away in conversations. Did she know he was annoyed? But he wasn't mad at her.. was he? In all honesty, he couldn't tell what made him annoyed. He was trying to supress it but it seemed Palewind took it the wrong way. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 16/02/24 @ 18:39:29 by Fancy fork [Cutlery] (#427147) |

Mudpaw Mudpaw gazed up at his leader, perched on the meeting tree, and marveled at Owlstar's regal presence and the beautiful surroundings. It really was perfect. He watched as Owlstar dropped the fang for Palewind to claim as her prize. “Way to go, Palewind!” He happily cheered her from behind, his tail back from joyfully swishing left and right. 0 players like this post!
