When Hemlockshade saw Gentlebreeze return to camp, be had risen from his spot ontop of the leaders den and jumped down; letting his paws absorb the shock from his leap. His nose was immediately assaulted by herbs and mint, the fur along his spine bristling slightly. Oh dear Starclan she smelt terrible! Way too herb-y, even for a normal healer cat. There was a point of normal, and then there was extreme. And that smell, was far too extreme. There was also the point of how she pointedly avoided Owlstar's gaze and rushed into the den; so it was one thing after another with her it seemed. The cream coated tom grunts, shaking his head to clear his nose, before padding over in the clearing - sitting off to the side as it begins. The tooth was....an interesting prize. Though he supposed the only thought he wondered was where it had come from, and how exactly Owlstar had obtained it. It was definitely something of high honor, that much was for sure. Though the significance would probably be lost on the group; as sighted from their very underwhelming reactions. Well, aside from Mudpaw who was cheering, but it was probably just an apprentice thing. - Cicadapaw shuffles over more into the clearing and less at the side when Owlstar jumps up, a look of curiosity crossing her face. She wonders what the prize will. Her head lifts when it's revealed, trying to see better. Oh! It was a tooth! A tooth? What kind of tooth? And where had it even come from? She doubted Owlstar had fought whatever creature said tooth belonged to, and it didn't look new. Hmm, perhaps Shadowclan related? She knew little about the fallen clan, but she really doubted they were fighting giant beasts all the time. It would be cool if they had though! And definitely scary at the same time, but a cool-scary nonetheless. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hawktalon She sat as she watched the she-cat recieve her prize. A tooth, hm? Would be a pretty nice looking accessory. Sootpaw leaned over to ask what warranted a prize. "A fight with a beaver." She answered, her tail curled over her paws. "Quite the feat." Sootpaw Sootpaw scrunched his nose. He wondered how hard it could honestly be to take down a beaver, then again, he's never had to face one. Maybe that'll change soon. He started grooming himself during the ceremony, in which Hawktalon nudged him and cleared her throat. He sat up and paid attention. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Crowflight The Tom sat quietly his fluffy tail placed neatly over his paws.” A tooth huh? It must be some sort of special tooth.” He said quietly to himself his deep voice now barely a whisper. His eyes narrowed as he watched Sootpaw and Hawktalon for a moment before flicking his gaze back towards Owlstar and Palewind. He was rather surprised that Palewind had been the one to win, he didn’t doubt her abilities as a warrior but it had been quite the surprise to hear. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Owlstar He looked down at the clan, taking in their reactions with a smile. Or, something close to a smile, anyway. The apprentices seemed happy enough, but some of the warriors didn't seem very enthused. Unfortunately, he wasn't quite sure how to fix that. With a slight flick of his tail, he shifted his stance, his thick fur making him appear more... Wild, more like some kind of unthinking creature than the leader of a clan. It only lasted a moment, as he stepped forward, his claws half unsheathed to keep a solid grip on the rough, uneven bark. His whiskers twitched slightly as he recalled the sharp scent of mint that had followed Gentlebreeze, a scent that still hung in the air, even now. "I have another announcement to make." His voice this time was a bit sharper, demanding the clan's attention, as opposed to simply requesting it. "Thrushtail and I have come to the decision that Pineclan could use some more... Training. Battle training, to be specific. We all learned to hunt well, as a simple matter of survival, but many of us haven't put much time into sharpening their fighting abilities." Owlstar stood confidently, as if daring any cat to insinuate that he belonged to the group of cats that had let their skills slip. He knew that most cats wouldn't admit the need for more training. Pride, after all, was one of the few traits that every clan shared. "This applies to everyone, with no exclusions. Regardless of injury, unless our healer-" Owlstar's glance flicked towards the medicine den, and Gentlebreeze. "-decides against it. We wouldn't want to start behaving like a bunch of kittypets, after all." He had lightened his tone with the last few words, to make sure his clanmates took it as intended, and not some kind of strange insult. He probably needed to get better at that sort of thing. //been trying to make these a bit easier to read, do you guys mind the big paragraphs, or do you like more tiny ones better 0 players like this post! Palewind The she cat’s eyes narrowed, she could understand needed more training she probably didn’t get all the training she needed when she first joined. So she didn’t really mind this as she stared at the leader wondering how her clanmates would react to this. Would they be as calm as she was? Would they be irritated? Crowflight He stared at Owlstar for a moment.” More training huh? Alright then.” He said quietly as he watched the reaction of his other clanmates, Palewind didn’t seem to mind nearly as much. As for the apprentices? Well they were still training so they’d probably be thrilled for more training. He was indifferent about it. If Owlstar thought it was necessary then it probably was. The additional news was a bit... surprising? to Cicadapaw. More battle training? It seemed mainly aimed at the warriors, as of course she needed more training - she wasn't even done! Though the information did make her a bit nervous. Did Owlstar think something bad might happen? Like an attack of vicious cats? Or what about dogs? Her mother had told her a story about dogs attacking clan cats once; or maybe it had been a made up tale. Either way, her fur prickled slightly in worry. She didn't want to lose her home or clanmates to something like that. What would she do? Would she have to become a loner? She supposed she knew how to hunt well enough, but what if a cat tried to beat her up? She could run.... Becoming a kittypet definitely wasn't an option, she'd lose all her outdoor freedom. Though what if she became one of the kittypets who were allowed to come and go as they pleased? That could work, but being around those scary bipedal beasts was a hard pass. She realized her mind was delving into chaos, when it probably wasn't that serious. She shook her head to clear it, wondering what Owlstar planned to do in terms of practice. - Hemlockshade was...quite displeased with that announcement, tail tip twitching irritably. The training he had undergone as an apprentice had not been lost on him, memories of his mentor running him through them like drills, or those annoying sparring sessions between him and another 'paw that were secretly just ways of gloating on whose apprentice fought better. He could tell with full confidence that he would not enjoy this training Owlstar had decided on; and he makes a silent promise that there will be burrs in the others nest, that much is for certain. A small part of him knows that there is sense in the decision, but he doesn't - nor will he - like it. He just hoped, really hoped that this wouldn't be a group thing; even if that realistically was probably the best idea. But he could count the ways on how badly that would go. Owlstar must hate the clan and it's inhabitants if he was torturing them like this. Okay, maybe a little dramatic in his thoughts right there - but he really didn't excel in those. He lacked enthusiasm, that much was clear by the looks of disdain painted across his face. (I don't mind bigger paragraphs! Hawktalon She nodded. "I agree." She said to her leader as a senior warrior. "Never hurts to train." She only got where she was because she trained harder than the average cat, especially with her missing claws. With beavers on their territory, fighting something fiercer than a cat would definitely require more training. They definitely didn't want any hurt apprentices for sure, as excited as the young ones are. Her ear flicked as she noticed Crowflight. She looked at him for a split second, before realizing she may have been staring. She quickly turned her attention back to Owlstar, her tail flicking slightly. Nettlesnap Oh, training again. The Tom stifled a growl and craned his head up, taking a second to form an opinion as he looked at the clan blood's reactions. What use would fighting training be? It wasn't like they were going to be attacked anytime soon. Perhaps they were worried about those fat beavers by the river, though he doubted those disgusting rats posed much of a thread considering their only purpose seemed to be ruining the flow of rivers and being a general menace. Nettlesnap grumbled softly and lay down on the drier grassy patch in the clearing, imagining what it would be like training with the older clan bloods. He wasn't too keen on it, honestly. As much as he hated to admit, even he knew combat wasn't necessarily his strong suit. The only "fighting experience" he had was being thrown to the ground by bigger animals. He shuddered at the vivid memory, pushing it to the back of his mind and forcing his attention back to the meeting, occasionally sparing a glance over at the clan bloods though avoiding making eye contact with any of them. Especially not Hemlockshade, that old cat could go bite into crowfood. He hated hemlockshade. Even though he knew he was terrible at fighting, it felt like being stabbed in the throat whenever training was mentioned. He wasn't here to train, he was here to survive. (Big paragraphs are fine! Crowflight The Tom felt Hawktalons eyes on him, he flicked his gaze to the she cat. Was she staring at him? Why was she staring at him? He looked back at Owlstar when she looked back at the leader. His fluffy tail now swishing beside him. He wasn’t really focused on what Owlstar was saying now as he let his mind wander to why Hawktalon was looking at him. He glanced at Palewind to see if the announcement was over but since she hadn’t moved he wasn’t sure if Owlstar was done or not. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw Battle training! Mudpaw ears perked up upon hearing his Leaders word. It made his chest burst in excitement, he wanted to learn more about fighting especially helpful techniques so he can protect his Clan from threats. He lifted his small head up, looking around the other warriors reactions. It seems that everyone in the Clan has mixed emotions towards Owlstars decision. Owlstar He looked carefully over the clan, taking in the mixed reactions of his warriors, a slight smile crossing his face as he noticed Hemlockshade's disdain. His friend had never liked battle training when they were apprentices, especially not the kind of group training that Owlstar had always enjoyed taking part in. Nettlesnap also didn't seem enthused, but Owlstar was quickly coming to expect a bad additude the tom. It might just be his injury, but the former rouge had never seemed to enjoy being part of the clan. Perhaps a little battle training could knock some sense into him, although Owlstar had his doubts. At least Mudpaw and Cicadapaw seemed exited. Now, what to train.... A smile curved across his face once more as his eyes flicked over to Hemlockshade. He knew that his friend would likely retaliate later, but wasn't a group exercise one of the best ways to build a cohesive clan? Or, that was what his mentor Houndcry had said, anyway. He looked over at Hawktalon. The advice of his senior warrior would be useful. He should probably run his plans by her, first. With a slight flick of the tail, he gave the clan the signal to disperse, before moving fluidly down the fallen tree, standing before Hawktalon. "I wanted to go over my plans for training before I actually put them into action." 0 players like this post! Like? |

(Repost because pages) Jay 'Ah.' The tom nodded uncertainly, not seeming to notice Toby's guarded tone and obvious unease after his question. Curiosity bubbled up in his mind and he had to take a few seconds, pawing lightly at the wooden fence. 'Why doesnt she like housefolk? Is she one of those wild cats?' Jay craned his head down to look fully at the small tom, his pupils thinning as he came to memorise the cat's features. He sighed in relief at the confirmation that the cat he saw earlier was indeed real, as he had been starting to think he might have eaten some catnip or something. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

//I did miss that lol Toby His tailtip flicked slightly as he watched the other tom, still nervous. Jay didn't seem like he could do anything to reveal his and Gentlebreeze's relationship to the clan cats, but it was best to be careful, and not accidentally slip up. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure she's a wild cat. She likes to pick some of the herbs in my housefolk's garden, but what she needs them for, I have no idea." Toby did know, of course, that Gentlebreeze healed her clanmates, but he knew nothing about the starclan side of things. He had always thought it a little odd that the clan cats seemed to 'speak' with their ancestors, but he hadn't tried to pry. "My housefolk aren't really fans of the missing herbs, I'm pretty sure they think I'm eating them." Toby winced slightly, recalling how his Housefolk had stuffed him in the belly of a monster, and hauled him to the vet after Gentlebreeze had taken some of his housefolk's marigold. From what Gentlebreeze had told him later, it wasn't dangourus, but his Housefolk had clearly thought otherwise. 0 players like this post! Like? Jay 'Herbs?' The tom tilted his head, flicking his gaze subconsciously to Toby's side of the fence. The grassy lawn had much more life than the one his own Housefolk had, including flower pots and the aforementioned herbs. He grimaced, the cold air catching between his teeth as he dragged his attention back to the small cat. 'Oh. That makes sense..' He nodded slowly, feeling the conversation break down as he struggled to maintain it. 'Does that mean there's wild cats near here..?' Jay added, a hint of worry ebbing into his voice. He had seen a few Feral cats by his own home, they fought a lot. Even though his size made it unlikely that the cats would give him any trouble, the chance terrified him. 0 players like this post! Toby "Yeah! Like those little plants down there." Toby indicated the small pots with a paw. It was a nice little garden, he supposed, especially compared to the rather barren lawn outside of Jay's nest. The lawn certainly looked nice, but the familiar chirping of insects was much fainter, and it smelled rather strange. With a slight shiver, he lept down from the fence, into his yard. He was getting a little cold, sitting so still on the fence. "There's quite a few of them, from what I've heard, but they don't usually come down here. I don't think they like housefolk in general. It's pretty weird." Shaking out his fluffy orange fur, he looked back up at jay, wondering if the tom would follow. "Do you want me to give you a little tour? It's almost my lunchtime, but my housefolk won't mind too much if I'm a bit late." Toby smiled, subtly trying to nudge the conversation away from the topic of Gentlebreeze and her clan. 0 players like this post! Like? |
