Dewleaf | Northern Fernclan Territory | Zing & Zang Dewleaf stifled a laugh at the mention of eating bones. Well, they didn’t seem to be much of a threat. She allowed her fur to lie flat, observing the two. They looked healthy, their fur decently clean. They seemed to be siblings as well by the way they communicated. “You didn’t answer my question. Who are you?” Dewleaf asked, taking a step forward. Her copper eyes locked on Zang, who seemed to be the leader of the two. “No other cat besides those of Fernclan have been in these forests for moons until recently, where did you come from?” Maybe she was letting her curiosity get the better of her, but she had to know. Froststar | Fernclan Camp —> Fernclan Territory | Shadeflower, Riverstrike Ah, his least favorite part of Fernclan’s territory. Froststar didn’t exactly mind but he, like most others, hated the Thunderpath. “Sounds good. Give me one moment to inform Riverstrike.” He turned his gaze towards his Deputy, he knew she would stress if he didn’t say where he was going. “Morning Riverstrike.” The tom said with a wave of his tail in greeting as he padded over to the Deputy. “I apologize for leaving camp, I agreed to accompany Shadeflower to the Southern border to search for herbs. I’ll patrol the area while we’re out as well. We shouldn’t be gone very long.” He continued, giving a quick nod of acknowledgment to Badgerpaw. “I don’t exactly like the idea of our Medicine Cat being out by the Thunderpath.” Froststar added. He turned to Shadeflower and gave her a soft smile, hoping she was fine waiting for a moment. Badgerpaw | Fernclan Camp | Riverstrike Badgerpaw opened his mouth to speak but the stopped as Froststar joined their conversation. The black and white tom sat down, annoyed. Their Leader was alright, but not serious enough for Badgerpaw’s taste. He offered a respectful head nod back to the Lewder before turning his gaze away, waiting for the older tom to leave. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 01/03/24 @ 12:20:18 by Rein (#447098) |

Shadeflower | Fernclan Camp---->| Froststar The she cat nodded setting down her dead herbs near the entrance of the camp as she sat and waited for Froststar to join her. She curled her tail over her paws as her eyes narrowed watching the conversation. Her eyes landed on Badgerpaw as couldn't help but feel that the young tom seemed a little annoyed especially considering he was about to say something back to Riverstrike. She watched the conversation not wanting to rush them obviously but she was interested on if anything else was going on with Riverstrike and Badgerpaw. Shadeflower had to admit, she liked to know what was going on with her clanmates, she always wanted to be prepared for the worst, especially if they went out hunting or patrolling she would know where to find them if something happened to them. Truth be told she could be a little paranoid at times but she pushed those thoughts away as she watched and listened to the conversation. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Zing and Zang - Northern fernclan territory - dewleaf The tom hesitated, confusion glistening behind his eyes. This cat, who he had assumed would attack them on sight, seemed.. amused? Better than being cut to shreds by an oversized cat. 'She's Zing, im Zang.' He motions a paw to his sister, oblivious to the fact their names would seem a little odd to these Wild cats. 'We're from a near neighbourhood. /someone/ wanted to creep out to "hunt".' Zang glared at Zing, gently nudging the young she away from him. Zing frowned, still sulking from being hushed earlier. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Head turning, Riverstrike acknowledges Froststar with a respectful dip of her head. "Good morning, Froststar." She says, voice as formal as ever. His words only confirm her thoughts, that he was indeed leaving. At least he'd be patrolling the area, one less thing for her to worry about. And he'd be with Shadeflower, so if anything went wrong; he'd have the medicine cat there. "Thank you for letting me know, and for checking the border as well. Please take care, may Starclan look out for you both." It's not like they were going off on some journey, but she wished them well regardless. Anything could happen, especially with the fact that non clan cats often showed up there. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 01/03/24 @ 12:45:34 by Ivy (#291155) |

Froststar | Fernclan Camp —-> Southern Fernclan Territory |Riverstike, Shadeflower Froststar gave a small smile, she was always so serious and formal. He appreciated it, it helped ground him. “Of course, the clan doesn’t work if there’s no communication.” Froststar said, “thank you, I hope everything stays peaceful here.” He turned towards Shadeflower and padded over to her. “Ready to head out?” He asked, ready to follow her to where her patch of coltsfoot was. Dewleaf | Northern Fernclan Territory | Zing & Zang Zing and Zang? What strange names, Dewleaf had never heard anything like them before. “Neighborhood?” She mumbled quietly, what was a neighborhood? Her ears flattened against her head and her eyes widened slightly. Were these kittypets? “You mean with two-legs?” The she-cats tail puffed, she was suddenly on high alert. That was on thing she was scared of, two-legs. Her eyes sweeper over the area, she didn’t smell anything out of the ordinary, besides the two cats in front of her. “They wouldn’t follow you here… would they?” Dewleaf asked, turning her gaze back on the two younger cats. A million different scenarios were running through her head. What would be the right thing to do? Should she chase them off? Or should she bring them to Froststar and Riverstrike for questioning? Badgerpaw | Fernclan Camp | Riverstrike Should a Leader be going off like that? Badgerpaw shrugged it off, it wasn’t any of his business. This is why he admired Riverstrike, she got her business done before anyone else was awake and then went about her duties. She was the type of cat Badgerpaw hoped to be when he grew up. He listened as Froststar’s paw steps faded away and turned back to face Riverstrike. He was hoping to go out now, but that wasn’t going to happen. “Riverstrike, if it’s not too much to ask…” Badgerpaw paused, would he be over stepping? He decided he would ask anyway, “I was wondering if you could give me some pointers for battle.” Badgerpaw knew Riverstrike was skilled in both hunting and in combat, it would be an honor to get pointers from the Deputy. 0 players like this post! Zing and Zang - northern fernclan territory - dewleaf Zang tilted his head. Twolegs. Many things had two legs. The tom bit his tongue and sat down, forcing the fur on his back to lie flat as he subtly put one paw in front of his sister, unable to shake off his distrust. 'Twolegs, sure. Our housefolk live not too far from here. Havent you seen it?' He meows, looking sideways to Zang and hovering his paw near her face just in case the smaller cat decided to butt in. 'No, our housefolk let us out plenty. They wouldnt be too worried if we were fone for a few days, let alone look for us.' Zang spoke calmly, forcing a steady tone. 'They hate us!' Zing piped in cheerily, cut off by yet another smack to the snout and tumbling back onto the grass. 'Anyways. They wouldnt be much of a threat even if they did look.' 0 players like this post! Shadeflower | Fernclan Camp---->Southern Fernclan territory| Froststar She nodded rising to her paws with a smile." Ready whenever you are." she stated her tail twitching behind her as she gathered her dead herbs. She began trotting along to the path she always took when going to this part of the territory. Her ear twitched as she heard the last bit of Badgerpaw and Riverstrikes words. She wondered why Badgerpaw was always hanging around Riverstrike. Well to be fair Riverstrike was a wonderful deputy, that was probably why, he was an apprentice after all so he was probably wanting help or training from the deputy herself. She never understood battle training either, in a way she almost saw it as pointless but that was probably just because she was never trained as such. Though she did understand the use of it for defending yourself. She turned her attention to Froststar waiting for him to start the conversation since her mouth was full of dead herbs. Although she would drop them soon, she always had a spot that she would drop them at. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Riverstrikes head turns as she watches Froststar leave, giving a slight incline of her head as he goes. Well, with the leader gone, that left her in charge. Though she doubted anything of great significance would occur in the time it took him to return, she couldn't help but feel like she needed to be cautious and alert. Thankfully, those were traits that she had obtained in her seasons of being alive, and had no doubt in her ability to look after the clan. Her ear twitches at Badgerpaw's words, attention turning back to the tom. Pointers for battle? While she would like to have stationed herself at the camps entrance, sitting motionlessly until something happened - helping Badgerpaw was undoubtedly a much better idea. He was the future, and it was important that all warriors were adequately trained. She also had plenty of experience with training paws, and had nearly perfected it. At least she thought she'd done well enough. "I wouldn't be opposed to it" she agrees, tail curling around her haunches. "She was in the midst of asking Badgerpaw what he already knew, when Salmonleap padded over, words coming to a halt. Nevertheless, she dips her head in greeting to the young and expecting queen. "Good morning Salmonleap." She says, returning another greeting for the third time today. It was definitely foggy, having been a bit of a hinderance when she'd slipped out of camp for early morning hunting. "Nothing much." Riverstrike continues. "Just battle training advice." It would be no problem to give Badgerpaw a few pointers on it, and help him improve - make him the best version of himself that he could be. "Now, what do you know so far in regards to battling?" The gray she cat meows, directing the question to the young paw. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Froststar | Southern Fernclan Territory | Shadeflower The large tom stayed alert, constantly scanning the area as they made their way through the forest. It felt good to get out and stretch his legs, he felt like he was stuck in camp all the time since he had become Leader. “I’m glad you invited me to come along.” Froststar started, turning to look at Shadeflower as they continued on. “It feels like I never go out as much anymore, I love seeing the territory. It’s always changing.” The tom continued. Speaking of change, they were reaching the edge of the dense forest, the trees slowly starting to spread and thin out. The Southern border used to be thick with redwoods as well until the two-legs came and chopped them down, leaving the area sparse. “What’s your opinion of the two-leggeds moving their dens closer to us? They’ve brought even more change to the area, change we haven’t seen in the forest before.” Dewleaf | Northern Fernclan Territory | Zing & Zang Wouldn’t be much of a threat? Dewleaf gave the two a puzzled look. She knew kittypets lived with two-leggeds, but she had only heard horror stories about them. The she-cat couldn’t imagine them being anything but a threat. “Do you mean the trees the two-leggeds cut down to make into their dens?” Dewleaf asked, annoyance in her voice. “Yes… I’ve seen them from the Southern border. I don’t leave Fernclan territory though, so I haven’t seen them up close.” Nor did she want to. The thought of being near those giant structures made Dewleaf’s skin crawl. “I’m glad they won’t be following you.” Dewleaf began, becoming a bit more relaxed, “however I think you should come talk to my unc- I mean our Leader, Froststar and Deputy Riverstrike.” She continued, of course she wouldn’t take them against their will, nor could she. “Of course it’s up to you. However I know they would be interested to hear why… well.. kittypets have begun entering the forest.” Dewleaf look from Zang to Zing, they would probably be nervous going with her, and she doubted they would say yes. In that moment, the she-cat realized she hadn’t even introduced herself. “Oh. Yes, I’m Dewleaf by the way.” Badgerpaw | Fernclan Camp | Riverstrike & Salmonleap Badgerpaw looked over at Salmonleap, looking her up and down. He knew the story, and he didn’t approve. However his opinion didn’t matter, and he was just an apprentice. Badgerpaw was suspicious of anyone outside of a Fernclan, and couldn’t dream of even speaking to a Loner or Kittypet. He knew Froststar didn’t care though, that’s why he had allowed Salmonleap to stay. He was a very open-minded tom, unlike Badgerpaw. The anpprentice gave the young Queen a respectful head bow, “Morning.” He replied, “I was asking Riverstrike for pointers in battle. You never know when you need to defend yourself or your clan.” Badgerpaw replied before turning his attention back to Riverstrike and her question. “So far, I’ve mainly been taught defensive moves, like using the duck and twist technique. I also know a few basic attack like the front paw blow. However, being a cat that’s.. a bit smaller than others, I was wondering if there are any techniques where I can use my sozr to my advantage.” 0 players like this post! Like? |

Zing and Zang - northern fernclan territory - dewleaf The Tom's eyes narrowed, noticing the wild cat's discomfort by the mention of twolegs. It was fair enough, the lumbering oafs could do a lot of damage to a cat. Or perhaps he was reading too much into it. He nods slowly, thinking over the wild cat's request and trying his best to ignore his sister's tail repetitively flicking against his flank like a twoleg kit's toy. 'Right. Dewleaf. We arent usually out this long so i dont think..' Zang trailed off, avoiding making eye contact with Zing who was staring at him hopefully. 'Why cant we? It'll be fun. Pleaseee- you need to go out more anyway.' The she added unhelpfully, not moving her gaze from her brother. Zang shot her a glare. 'And you need to stay in more. As far as we know these cats could want to kill us.' He hissed firmly, deciding to ignore the part where his sister practically called him fat. The satisfied smile was enough of a clue. Zing pauses, sighs and turns her head to face Dewleaf. 'Are you gonna kill us?' The she tilts her head, staring expectantly. She was likely just looking for a way to argue against her brother's reasoning. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Riverstrike listens to his words, mulling over the best answer to give him. She knew many moves, some of which would be considered dishonorable to the warrior code - so she set those into the very recess of her mind. Instead, she settles on a classic. "For a smaller cat, the leap and hold is a good one." The deputy meows. "To do it, you jump onto your opponents shoulders, digging your claws in to hold on tightly. It gives you an advantage, since they cannot strike you with their claws." She explains in as much detail as possible. "However, you will need to be wary of the fact that they can shake you off, or if they roll onto their side or back, you'll get winded." The best way to learn is through demonstration, and Riverstrike stands up fully, padding a few paw steps forward. "I'll use myself as a target. Why don't you try jumping on me? And don't worry about your claws." In all instances, apprentices should always be trained with claws sheathed. However, in the act of gripping her fur, he couldn't rely on his pads alone. As long as he didn't tear fur out, it would be fine. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Shadeflower | Southern Fernclan territory| Froststar Her ears flattened a little as she dropped the herbs in her dispose spot.” They worry me, I don’t like how far they have moved. You don’t think they will try and take over our camp or anything do you?” She asked a tone of irritation as she talked about the twolegs. She had lost very nice patches of herbs due to them moving closer and closer this way. Not only that but she did worry that they would move so far that they would come into the camp and chase her and her clanmates out. She absolutely did not want that.” What about you Froststar what are your thoughts about it?” 0 players like this post! Like? |

Froststar | Southern Fernclan Territory | Shadeflower So Shadeflower had similar worries. It was almost reassuring that he wasn’t alone in his thoughts. “I pray to Starclan they don’t.” Froststar responded with a sigh. He couldn’t imagine having to leave the forest, what Fernclan had known as home for generations. “I will admit I’m concerned.” Froststar began, “I definitely don’t like the idea of two-leggeds being so close to us, or the idea of them taking our land. They bring other cats, as well as dogs, with them which can add additional threats to our clan.” The tom continued, flicking his tail in annoyance. It was a stressful and difficult situation, but he had no plans on leaving. “I’m sure Starclan will share some wisdom with us when the time comes. For now we need to stay vigilant, observe them from afar and see what they want.” Froststar planned to eventually go near the large dens, but not yet, he didn’t want to go without a plan. Dewleaf | Northern Fernclan Territory | Zing & Zang “Well no.” Dewleaf answered, these two were such a strange pair, but she kinda liked them. “No one there would kill you, although some may be nervous by your presence. You don’t have to come, I just know many in the clan are curious.” Dewleaf looked around, the fog had lifted and more sunlight had begun filtering through the trees. “Fox dung.” The she-cat hissed to herself. Froststar was going to be furious she had been gone for so long. “Well either way I must go, I’ve been gone for too long.” Dewleaf turned to look back where she came from, wondering if the prey she left was still there. She would check before heading back into camp. She turned to look at the two once more. “Well? What do you think? I won’t force you of course.” Badgerpaw | Fernclan Camp | Riverstrike & Salmonleap Use her as practice? How intimidating. Badgerpaw nodded in agreement, getting to his paws. The move seemed easy enough, he just had to leap and hold on right? The apprentice lowered himself into a crouched position, unsheathing his claws. He hadn’t been allowed to use his claws in practice battle yet, he was a little nervous. Badgerpaw decided he would aim for just below Riverstrike’s shoulder blades. He readied himself, wiggling his body into a comfortable position to pounce. The Tom made sure to put extra power into his hind legs as he sprang, eyes locked on his target. He felt himself make contact with Riverstrike and cautiously dug his claws into the Deputy’s back. 0 players like this post! Like? |
