I'm finding it really, really hard to enjoy this event because its just so... dry and boring, its so hard to grind anything and IMO no longer makes sense like it used to. (I joined back in 2015, and there were no horses??? I still don't know why these were added except to appease one mod that wanted "horseden" at the time???)

I understand that admins don't want us getting the bars open too early, but that's no reason to penalise Jewel Beetle encounters, most of us are only getting 5-6 encounters per energy bar if we're lucky. I know its Gnaw/GMO month, and people go crazy for them because "expensive!" - but look how easy February is in comparison and STILL how profitable February's items are.

I personally am really struggling, I've been awake since the event dropped 12 hours ago, using all of my energy constantly as it regenerates (a full bar every 2.5 hours, for a total of 4.8 energy bars + my free energy boost), and so far I have 92 Jewel Beetles (though I am pretty sure I started with 60ish from last year). This is with me using the wiki to always choose the high JB option.

I feel the horse encounters outnumber the JB ones now, making it much less likely for you to actually roll for a JB encounter, which nerfs enjoyment and penalises "casual" players, and I'm beginning to remember why I usually skip September (and therefore don't buy my few hundred GB for the month, because admins only listen to their bottom line).

I know this is kind of ranty/childish, but I'm so over this event.

As Frae has stated, this is my first time doing the event actively in YEARS and I've already got the feeling I'm going to end up dropping it and not bothering. It's no longer a profitable event; even roasted lambs and energy boosts are being wasted.
I started off the day getting non-stop encounters, but mostly were NON-JB encounters [so the horses and a few others] and any encounters I did get it was like 1-3JB, and more often than not it was only 1JB. I have gotten a total of 40 fucking JB since the event started 12 hours ago and i have explored a fair amount.

There was zero reason to nerf the encounter rates, and if they're going to do that they may as well raise the JB reward.

I believe I just checked the wiki and found 22 encounters that give JB, and 19 that don't - yet it seems the ones that don't have a higher chance of rolling; hell, there are some encounters there I have never come across before.

I haven't come across a fair few of them.. I've mostly come across those horse encounters, including the new stallion encounter TWICE.

I joined 2022, but I've been on hiatus every september event until this one, and yeah, it feels really dry so far. For gnaw/gmo month, I was expecting something bigger or atleast more profitable. I've been grinding since RO this morning and I'm at a whopping 21 JB.

I feel like the mods need to buff the encounter chance atleast a tiny bit, because the most i've gotten in an energy bar is five encounters. Compared to February, where it seems you get an encounter every other step, it's crazy, and like you said February is still very profitable.

I estimate at this rate I'll probably have 35-40 JB by the end of today, which is only because I've been up since 5AM. If you multiply that by 30 (Each day in September) that rounds to 1050 JB, which seems like a lot, but in February I basically double that number, and that's not even counting days where I'm busy or unable to be active all day.

So yeah, I think a small buff might be in order, just to keep things a little easier to the more casual players, and hell, even the grinders, because this is very rough.

I'm also annoyed that unlike other events with 15 minute cooldowns (February, May) - that the cooldown for this event is 30 minutes? It seems really random.
I know the now-retired "Falling Stars" event used to have a 30 minute cooldown for the cloud forest, but the event was retired - and I know people weren't too happy about the cooldown period.

I can easily get upwards of 500HS in february with zero items if I stay up an extra hour or to, upwards of 600 if I use items. On my bad days i get AT LEAST 300HS. I can't even seem to get 100JB so far?? I was so confident this morning because i had non-stop encounters; then i realised that HOLY SHIT, i have only 40JB made this year???

i totally agree. ive had a problem with september for awhile now. it feels like the currency encounter rates are terrible because the month is inflated with encounters that mean absolutely nothing. not to mention, after the bars are unlocked you STILL get tons of encounters that give you nothing in return. something definitely needs to be changed.

It's insane because by the first week of August, doubled with Fire Escape alongside exploring, I made damn near 1200 CB and had about 800 DB, and I wasn't really exploring like I would during February.

A mini-game like Fire Escape would help JB counts if something like that was added, now that I think about it.

Not to mention how 3 of the main elements don't link - horses, locusts and the harbinger. The locusts LOOSELY link to the end of the world [heaven v hell] but again, it's super loose and only makes sense if you know about the october event. The entire september event needs a complete fucking rehaul.

It doesn't help as well that of the 22 encounters with JB, there is only:
1x Encounter that gives you 4 Jewel Beetles
3x Encounters that give you 3 Jewel Beetles

That means 18 of the encounters only give you 1-2 JB, with 19 encounters that don't. That means that out of all 41 encounters, you have a 9.756% chance to find the 3-4x Jewel Beetle Encounters, but realistically its MUCH lower than that because of generic explore encounters, NCLs and the like. No doubt more encounters have been added (I've seen a couple that I don't recognise that aren't on the wiki that give NO beetles!) to further decrease that chance.

Edit: As for a minigame, bring me splat-the-locust as a reskin of whack-a-snake!

Honestly, it needs a rehaul imo, but i understand not wanting it.
Just any kind of addition cough JB encounters would be alright,

I would love a rehaul to come up with something cohesive; as Infinightive says, what the hell do Locusts, Horses and the Harbinger genuinely have in common? The only feral breed of horses in Africa is the Namib Desert Horse - so why do we have Arabians and the like? Where have they all come from? Why do we not see them year round? What has wild horses got to do with the "end of the world" the prophet lion goes on about because of the locusts?

It's all really disjointed and needs just a fresh overhaul.

If this is supposed to be a prelude to the heaven vs hell war of October (which it very well could be), have the horses be related to the apocalypse ponies. Also, if there's locusts, there's a famine (for herbivores, anyway) - so why do all the horses look so healthy and sleek? Surely they'd look more skeletal and more like the animals in January?

It all just makes no sense.
