-LOCKED - Hunting Changes - what is going on? | |
Posted on 2014-12-15 02:13:16
Greetings almighty lions, We've had a recent development regarding hunting - and how stat inflation is being affected by the recent change in price for skipping hunts. Since we changed the price from 1GB to 100SB to skip a hunt, we've seen a couple of members go a bit crazy on spending. While I'm sure you've been enjoying this little loop hole, unfortunately this has to come to an end! About a year ago we set out to make hunting fair and well-paced regarding giving out stats, and we reduced the stat rewards from randomly between 1-6 down to 1 stat per lioness per hunt. There were several complaints about this, as it took the fun and surprise out of hunting. Recently we gave you randomly an extra point! Yay! This alleviated some of the tediousness of sending your lionesses hunting only to get 1 measly point. However, this alone made it possible for lionesses to get double what they were getting - from a solid 10 points per day (if you completed all 10 hunts, or more if you added hunts) to a potential 20 points per day (or more.. etc). When we changed the price from 1GB to 100SB, some of you who had stockpiled your SB went on a spending spree and - by increasing the amount of hunts a lioness could go on in a day, while also skipping the hunting time - managed to raise 4 year olds to extremely high levels, with thousands and thousands of stat points. This is something that we strived to avoid a year ago, and by being overlooked (by myself, primarily) it has allowed super-buffed lionesses back into the game. So as a result, we have removed the ability to add extra hunts to your lionesses. You can still skip hunts and get your hunting results immediately, and it still only costs 100SB instead of 1GB. Our reason for doing this, rather than reverting the cost of hunt skipping, is because we feel confident that you have enough to do as it is - you don't need to sit and worry about adding more and more and more hunts to your lionesses, just to stay competitive. Additionally, we feel that limiting lionesses to 10 hunts per day as standard will help to regulate the inflation of stats (whereas if you can still add hunts, you're still adding stat points). We also don't want this game to be pay-to-win (which it was when you could use a $0.50 in-game currency to skip your hunts while other members had to wait). I'm sure a lot of you feel very strongly about this issue, and we'd like to invite you to express your feelings in the comments. But please keep in mind that we, as developers, are trying to do the best that we can for the game and for ALL members - not just the top 1% (;D). Or 5%, or 10%. We feel that this is a fair compromise. As always, if you want to express your opinions, please be respectful towards all the staff, and other members. We all have to get used to big changes which sometimes don't seem like they are for the best, but we promise we're trying to do everything we can to make things fair. Finally, steroid lioness says thank you for feeding her stats over the past two weeks: 0 players like this post! Like? |

Rock on, admins--the less pay-to-win advantages there are available the better it will be for the rest of us casual players who maybe only have time to hunt their lionesses 2-3 times a day while having to deal with the hideous inflation of the economy. Since people pay more for higher stats it's really not fair for the rest of us who can't be on 24/7 to overwork our girls so they produced the beefiest cubs possible. I approve of this change. LioDen, or any game like this really, should not be a competition. <3 Also, on a side note, dat lioness be bangin'. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/12/14 by Estefan (#18822) |

I never used the skip hunts option until they lowered it but I added hunts all the time. I do not like this change and I don't think you fixed anything, you just made it harder for us to gain stats normally. If you don't use the skip option you could still add hunts and get extra stats that way. I feel like instead of helping us you've only hindered us all. I really hope that a better option in put in place and SOON. I don't care if skipping hunts costs 100 SB or 1000 SB. This is very frustrating. I want my extra hunts back. 0 players like this post! Well, I'm not surprised about this at all. I knew people would grind their lionesses before the news post about the hunting changes was even posted =P I don't skip my hunts and I never added more hunts to my hunting team either, so I'm perfectly okay with this change =3 0 players like this post! I just want to say that I think the Staff are doing a fantastic job of listening to their players and trying to do what's best for everyone. No matter what happens, someone is going to be upset. There's no way around that. I honestly don't feel that this will affect the game negatively. As someone who has a full-time job, a family to support, and will soon be going to school full-time, this is a relief! I feel that the playing field has been leveled, now. I have a chance to be competitive with the players who spend hours and hours on the site. Not only can I afford my 10 skips/day, I don't have to worry about falling behind just because I can't take the time to add a bunch of extra hunts to my lionesses! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Personally I agree with this, I don't skip hunts that much unless I really need food, and that's for food not stat and I never used to add hunts anyways because I never get through all 10 hunts due to time-zone, college and personal life :D EDIT: Anyways, thank you, and yeah there's always going to be some people that will complain, but generally it doesn't effect the game that much at all :) 0 players like this post! Sorry, but I think the current fix is anything but - six months down the road, the lioness leaderboard is going to be completely stats, topped bythose who has the highest birth stats and put in the 5 hours / 1000SB a day to maintain them, rather than who puts the most effort into hunting their lionesses each day. I'm quite disappointed tbh :/ And before anyone feels the need to start, no, I'm not one who has super stat lionesses. I would never stand a shot at reaching the leaderboard. But I enjoyed seeing NCLs who had been trained up to reach it, and seeing stats as a result of time and effort invested, rather than money and heritage. So not happy folks ^^" 0 players like this post! Like? |

That really sucks, though I knew it was going to happen. I thought I finally found a decent way to keep up with my prides food demands and get stats for it. 10 hunts wont even cover half my pride. xD Haha love that lioness though. 0 players like this post! Like? |

In fact, I don't like it. I spend really, really many time at game and working with my lioness. So, now I could only send them for a hunt for 10 times a day - 5 hours. And they get my per day 10 or max 20 stats. I know that you want to stop the extremly high lvl of lioness, but for me it's better to keep 1GB for skip time, that take away a possiblity to add hunt. Or, if you don't want this - come back to time when lioness randomly get 1 - 6 stats per hunt. That was the best way for me! 0 players like this post! Like? |

I feel like they should have expected the lowered skip hunts price to cause people to grind lionesses, that's their bad really. Take away the skip hunts option, we don't NEED it. But don't take away our extra hunts. You're wrong in this post, I very often DO run out of things to do and it' s nice to be able to add extra hunts and send my lionesses out because I very often RUN OUT of hunts. I play this game to have fun and make friends but lately it's become very frustrating. This game needs lots of changes but this wasn't one of them. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I have a few concerns here... 1. Since double stat-handout is still random, and people dont have equal luck, it can still give an unfair random advantage to one person above others if they are lucky enough to get 2 stats per hunt a lot more than the rest. And with the additional hunting gone... We cannot really compete through persistence, skill with finances, management of our gameplay, instead we have to pray that we get 2 stats instead of one, and that we get no skill instead. So basically people can have better lions just by luck, even though they hunt the same times. Are you planning something for that bit? maybe make double stat chances dependent on the level of the lioness? 2. I am not certain if new players were ever able to catch up to stats of today, but with taking out their chances of additional hunts it might potentially tie their hands and make them unable to compete at all, as long as the top and average statters are in game and setting the good stat-range. Instead they are forced to follow after, without a chance to make a jump forward. 3. I believe most of the problem is that you waited for too long to implement something that actually drains SB. Some of us didnt find anything worthy to spend it on, and they piled up. The problem is that this huge SB reserve was just now exploded into this one feature. Maybe implementing more drains at once would solve the issue better? Because right now this feature's SB sink property was just taken away. I will not pay 100SB for something like this where I can hunt 10 times a day without skipping. This will only cause us to ignore the feature and keep our SB, which again will pile up, and in the end you might refuse to implement anything nice for SB because there is too much SB in the game. I for one only used the extra hunts a lot in the past and would love to see them back. The only thing that needs a limit is the skip feature. Not something that allowed a few extra hunts a day for a fair price. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I just have to say... I'm thoroughly confused how this levels the playing field in terms of stats? As Bilby said, it just means those that already used the system will now be making more money and if you want to compete in the market by having decent-statted cubs, you have to buy from them. I'm certainly nowhere near leaderboard, but I had goals for my own little NCL-statted girls to get to a point. I never used skips, just extra hunts. I was really proud of the progress I was making and now it's just kind of pointless. I won't be able to continue my goals at all. If I want any lionesses over a certain number, my only option is spending a fairly large amount of GB to buy a breeding or a born cub. I'm pretty troubled by this whole change to be honest. 0 players like this post! Like? |

That's actually awesome and a perfect solution, I think. I feel like being able to skip time is good simply because it allows players who don't have that much time on hand to keep up a bit (I know there's plenty of people who can only use a computer once a day), which I think is sort of the intended use; not aggressively overstatting young lionesses. (I do still wish levelling lionesses had some sort of reward though. Not necessarily stats, but...maybe impression points for your male? Or. Something. Hm.) 0 players like this post! Like? |
