-LOCKED - Hunting Changes - what is going on? | |
Posted on 2014-12-15 02:13:16
Greetings almighty lions, We've had a recent development regarding hunting - and how stat inflation is being affected by the recent change in price for skipping hunts. Since we changed the price from 1GB to 100SB to skip a hunt, we've seen a couple of members go a bit crazy on spending. While I'm sure you've been enjoying this little loop hole, unfortunately this has to come to an end! About a year ago we set out to make hunting fair and well-paced regarding giving out stats, and we reduced the stat rewards from randomly between 1-6 down to 1 stat per lioness per hunt. There were several complaints about this, as it took the fun and surprise out of hunting. Recently we gave you randomly an extra point! Yay! This alleviated some of the tediousness of sending your lionesses hunting only to get 1 measly point. However, this alone made it possible for lionesses to get double what they were getting - from a solid 10 points per day (if you completed all 10 hunts, or more if you added hunts) to a potential 20 points per day (or more.. etc). When we changed the price from 1GB to 100SB, some of you who had stockpiled your SB went on a spending spree and - by increasing the amount of hunts a lioness could go on in a day, while also skipping the hunting time - managed to raise 4 year olds to extremely high levels, with thousands and thousands of stat points. This is something that we strived to avoid a year ago, and by being overlooked (by myself, primarily) it has allowed super-buffed lionesses back into the game. So as a result, we have removed the ability to add extra hunts to your lionesses. You can still skip hunts and get your hunting results immediately, and it still only costs 100SB instead of 1GB. Our reason for doing this, rather than reverting the cost of hunt skipping, is because we feel confident that you have enough to do as it is - you don't need to sit and worry about adding more and more and more hunts to your lionesses, just to stay competitive. Additionally, we feel that limiting lionesses to 10 hunts per day as standard will help to regulate the inflation of stats (whereas if you can still add hunts, you're still adding stat points). We also don't want this game to be pay-to-win (which it was when you could use a $0.50 in-game currency to skip your hunts while other members had to wait). I'm sure a lot of you feel very strongly about this issue, and we'd like to invite you to express your feelings in the comments. But please keep in mind that we, as developers, are trying to do the best that we can for the game and for ALL members - not just the top 1% (;D). Or 5%, or 10%. We feel that this is a fair compromise. As always, if you want to express your opinions, please be respectful towards all the staff, and other members. We all have to get used to big changes which sometimes don't seem like they are for the best, but we promise we're trying to do everything we can to make things fair. Finally, steroid lioness says thank you for feeding her stats over the past two weeks: 0 players like this post! Like? |

I don't necessarily agree with this, I feel a compromise can be proposed of limiting the additional hunts to like say 5 per day per lioness. which I don't feel would cause inflation like you guys are suggesting 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sorry, but I don't think I really understand how this is going to help. The feature to add hunts was already being used before the change to skipping hunts, and considering nothing happened to it until now, it seems like there was no problem with it before the price change to skipping hunts? The problem was the massive price change to hunt skipping -- there's a huge difference between 1 GB and 100 SBs, even if you convert the GB to a SB price (I haven't bought GBs in a while, but I believe the current price is 1,200-1,500 SBs per GB and rises every so often). I don't understand why the feature to skip hunts was not tweaked as opposed to just outright removing the feature to add hunts, when skipping hunts was what created the problem of 4 year old lionesses with 6.5k+ stats. Also, what exactly is the point of the lioness leaderboards now? With every lioness only being able to get 10 hunts in a day, I don't see any competition being left. The leaderboard is going to stay populated by the same people who have lionesses that were trained up before this change, because the amount of hunts a lioness can go on is now capped, how are new people supposed to catch up? Breeding two high-stat lions together is only going to get you so far now. I really don't want to sound rude, and I'm sure people are going to completely dismiss me because I'm one of the players on the leaderboards for stats, but I really don't understand how this is going to help. 0 players like this post! As much as this seems like a good idea its also punishing the people who didn't abuse it. I have maybe skipped one time since it became 100SB but I added hunts frequently to my Queen in order to have her gain a few extra stats to help catch up with higher stated, paid users. While I do buy GB frequently, I never have enough money to buy a large amount on order to get lionesses on top of what I need. This takes away some of my want to play because now I have no other way to raise the stat of my lioness meaning I'll never catch up. 0 players like this post! Like? |

No, Tserin, we agree. This is basically the same where there was an uproar because of a suggestion where people wanted to cap the stats a male can get. This is basically the same. Leaderboards would have no more meaning, competition would have no more meaning. So why is this lioness business not viewed the same? Not to mention that stats still depend on luck. You either get 1 stats, 0 stat just 1 skill -which I still dont know what it is for at lionesses- or 2 stats. That still allows diversity but in no way is it connected to how much we work on our lions, but on luck. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I have to agree with Tserin, Bilby, Axel and the others. I really don't see how this levels the playing field. Unless there is something drastic, like a complete reset of stats (as in every lion and lioness are back to their NCL stats), all this does is make sure that those with the most stats, keep the most stats. There's not even any hope for anyone else to even raise decent stats without breeding to those already on the leaderboard. It just massively shifts the game toward "pay to win" because to get any kind of competitive stats, you have to pay those that already have them. I understand that it should fade some in time, but it's not going to be weeks. It's going to be months, maybe even a few years before it even gets closer to level, if it ever really does. Which doesn't seem very likely. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/12/14 by Sphinx [11/20 GB] (#50934) |

*claps* I have been trying hard to get a leader board stats, for both male and female. THAT is my goal, though now that stats are just blown out of the water, cause people have overused the button for adding hunts and skipping time, now others will never have a change at catching up. I don't have 1,000,000 GB's and or 1,000,000, SB's to catch up, unlike some people who have access to the same I.P address. If you share the same I.P then address yourselves. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I must say I agree with Tserin. What caused the problem was the skip-price changing so drastically. With the maximum of 10 hunts a day player that`s online 5 minutes a day gain just as much stats and EXP as the ones who spend 4+ hours a day on lioden. It seems kind of unfair due to the fact that if you`re less active than others, then you simply won`t reach as far. It`s like that everywhere. All games and even real life. The more amount of time ypu spend on certain topics, the better you get at it and the more advantages you get. That`s simply how it is :/ I think it would be much better to simply raise the skip hunts-price. I don`t need to be disrespectufl, if someone feels disrespected by this comment, it`s just my honest opinion and my point of wiev ;) 0 players like this post! Like? |

I agree with Tserin! I personally think the "Skip hunts" option should just be removed. Most of us couldn't afford the 1GB price so we didn't use it then, and we don't need it now. But we need to be able to hunt our lionesses for food and for stat gain. If for some reason ya'll think adding it back would be a problem (it wasn't in the past, the skip hunt being at 100 SB was, but whatever) then raise the add hunt fee, but don't take it away. There not competition now because you've nerfed our ability to gain stats. Might as well get rid of the leader boards too, because the Highest stats, highest level, and most hunts are now irrelevant. The only ways to get high stat lions was to send them hunting or buy them. With this change you've eliminated sending them hunting as a viable way to gain stats since you can only get so many. Now all we can do is buy them or breed for them both of which usually cost GB which costs real money so this game is now pay-to-win, if stats are the way you play. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Right now the highest position stat female and male are being held by only on person. It's not fair if they earn 300GB a week for studdings and I only get maybe 5GB a week per five studdings. :/ 0 players like this post! Like? |

At this point, I kind of feel like you just need to cap the stat points to a certain level. For example, 1,000 tops. Or something. It just seems like you want to squash any way of getting high stated lions or lionesses. Breeding was changed, which I didn't like at all because you can't even really better your cubs all that much through breeding anymore unless you breed to an already ridiculously high stat stud, and it just seems like you guys really don't want people to have any high stat lions. I bought mine (high stat lionesses) so I can work on my pride since I couldn't really breed anything worth keeping at the time. Now, I didn't skip hunts or add more, but it just seems like if you want everything to be fair for everyone then you need to cap stats and make all stat gains the same for each hunt, excluding skill, which should already be added on through hunting as a separate thing since skill never passes down to cubs anyway. That way everything is the same for everyone, regardless of how much time they put in the game or how much money they have, in game or otherwise. That would make it even for everyone. It takes away the competition aspect but it makes it fair and makes it more about the looks of the lions and the regular game play rather than who can get the highest stat cubs. Then, there is only one goal to work toward, hitting cap. End of "unfair" high stat lions and stat gains. I saw this coming, and since I don't skip or add more it doesn't hurt me, but to be truly fair capping stats and making all stat gains the same from hunting is about the only way to go about it. Otherwise, you are still going to have people striving to get the highest stats possible and you will eventually end up with stat "inflation". 0 players like this post! Like? |

I would not agree with raising the add hunt fee. We already never got back the price of it with hunting, that would create an even greater deficit than we always had. I for one had to get its expenses back by explore. 0 players like this post! Like? |

What the point about playing if spending 30 minutes on the game give you the same thing than playing 10 hours a day? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I've never added any hunts to my lionesses before so this change won't effect me at all. Keep up the get work, I absolutely love this site and the people here and I can't wait for what else you will bring to this site. 0 players like this post! Like? |
