-LOCKED - Hunting Stuffs - Poll Time!
Posted on 2014-12-15 06:33:03
Hello lions!

We've listened to your feedback, suggestions and comments and have decided to give you guys a poll regarding the hunting feature to see what you feel is best, and to gauge more public opinion and where it's sitting.

i5L6Arm.jpg

There are four options that are available on the poll, and I will explain each of them:

Option 1 - Revert back to 1 GB to skip hunts, and additional hunts go back to normal.
Basically we return to how it was before the SB skip was switched. Skipping was a luxury.

Option 2 - Keep the new system. Pay SB to skip hunts still, but no additional hunts.
Everyone has the same playing field, and it's effectively capped.

Option 3 - Change the system to have skipping incur a cost of 1000SB OR 1 GB (whichever currency you'd prefer to use), with each skip causing the price to increase in tiers. The proposed is increasing the SB cost by 100SB at a time, so the first skip would cost 1000SB, second would be 1100SB, 1200SB, and so on and so forth. Additional hunts would return as they were before - 10 SB per hunt.

Option 4 - The same as option 3, except also tier up the cost of additional hunts. First additional hunt costing 100SB, increasing in 10SB increments. Second 110SB, then 120sb, etc etc.

You can vote on the polls page - click here for a direct link there.

Please keep in mind that Lioden is really dear to us and we care about all of you on here! We listen to each and every one of you but have to make decisions to try to balance the game where we can. We don't want to remove competition and we also don't want to make things completely unfair, either, so it's all about finding a nice middle.

Thanks for sticking with us guys!

Pls don't poop on me for this. ;0;

@Maulise Just as a tip: try hunting all your girls on the exact same biome tiles. I prefer the marshlands personally, or perhaps rocky hills if there's none available. Marshlands always yields two elephant calves for me with 5 level 7 hunters or 5 level 20ish hunters. Rocky hills usually yields Nyala calves or zebras if I'm lucky. I've also tried the grassland and gotten kudu/wildebeest before, so it just has to do with your hunting strategies I'd assume ^^

Edit: I meant Kudu, not kuzu XD

On the poll- the problem with polls (and I know the poll isn't the actual answer to what will be done) is not because the majority shouldn't matter, it's that the people who vote aren't an accurate representation. Lots of people vote without really making an informed decision, because it's easy to go 'new poll! oh, this answer sounds good,' without really even realizing what you're voting on. Likewise, many people who are making an informed decision don't vote at all, because none of the options work for them. Still further, others (probably the majority) are unaware that this is happening at all, and won't have any representation.

This isn't a critique to the poll being posted, it's a critique to the arguments people are using for and against it.

(ETA- and it's in reply to some things on the last page and before, not the post above me)

@Nyoka - I get what you mean. But regardless of how they decided to take their input the exact same thing would happen. At least with a poll it's more visible. Besides, we know the admins watch these threads. Other suggestions are definitely being seen. A poll is NOT perfect. But nothing is =/

RottAndArtist: I assume with the threats to leave and the complaining, you mean myself. I have no intention of threatening lioden staff with my presence in the least as I hardly matter. That being said, the only reason I brought it up was to strengthen my belief in my arguments (I believe they're fairly thought-out), which you can see several times in this thread, as well as my suggestions thread, which I have also linked prior.

In regard the rest of your post, yes, I agree, but, to a point. The opinions of the player base do matter, as we can potentially provide insight. We're all potential consumers. While they won't alter the website based on our whims, as site owners, they want as many of their player base to be happy as possible, without going against their vision of he website. Lioden Staff are no more infallible than you or I, so a look from various perspectives on a single subject can be greatly enlightening, and could help them reach a final decision. That's just my thoughts and feelings, however.

@Kor I'm aware that there's going to be plenty of people who won't get what they're hoping for. What they do if that happens is up to them. C:

I don't think you need to worry about people skewing votes. People are only allowed to have two accounts each, and staff seem to keep pretty in top of that. In any case, the point of the vote was just to help staff gauge public opinion. A few extra vote either way isn't going to mean much, I don't think. :)

Fair enough. I just like having the option of extra hunts for food, but there is no real reason to only use one single team of lionesses aside from convenience. usually I get lazy and buy it anyway.

Okay, as someone who has given a good amount of cash for GB, adjusting the skip hunting feature to SB isn't really gonna change anything to Lioden's donations. I've never used GB for skipping hunts and wasting it to get a few meager stats always seemed dumb and a waste of GB to me.

Option 2 seems the fairest. You can only get so many stats for your lionesses in a day when you can't add their hunts. Besides, most players don't even have over 1k SB on them and probably wouldn't waste it for their lionesses hunting. Hell, 100 SB can be quite a bit of money for people who on average have 500 to 600 SB.

Idk, those are my thoughts so far. If I have anymore, I'll add on to this post.

Since it's near impossible to get hundreds of different people's replies in one thread and compiled, I agree about the poll, Kor. I really disagree with the arguments of 'the majority doesn't know what they're talking about because they don't pay attention' or 'stop saying the majority doesn't matter just to benefit yourself,' so I'm basically saying 'you're both wrong.' Either way, we know the poll is being used with a grain heap of salt.

I like option 2 the best. It will woke the best especially when you have a quest that you need to do that involves hunting.

how about a new option?

After x# of stats gained via hunting, the rng for +stat changes - making it rarer for a lioness to actually stat-up at higher stat#s without adding a stat cap or changing everything in a way that'd do more impeding than helping.

This way, large prides dont miss out on the food they need and rely on, the tactic is still there for those with lots of SB they've accumulated by playing, the 99% luxury is a goal for the common player, and you wont get in your players way.

Edit: @Spri AYYY omg!! you know what they say about great minds :P
