Toki’s Appearance

Toki attempted to stand up, though with his already limited sight covered by the quills in his face, and the fact that he was shaking furiously, he stumbled to the ground again.

"Ahhhhhh.... I uh. Ah... I'm sorry... I just... I can't see anything... Ahhhh.... My, my face.. Ow.."

The clumsy male got to his paws and sat down, only to sit on a quill that had fallen out and was right where he was trying to sit.
With a yelp, he jumped right into Kade and fell over once again.

"S-s-sorry! I'm so sorry! Ow..."

He clearly could not see anything, but got his legs back underneath him and sat down after having slowly felt around with his front right paw to make sure nothing was there.

Dakota | Male | 2 years old | Lead Hunter

"I'm glad Kade was picked for beta," he told Rivers. "I like her, she's experienced and knows what she's doing," he went on. He looked around at all the wolves, then back at Rivers. "What do you think of the Valley of Hope?" He asked her. "My oldest sister talked about it a lot actually, but it was always just a myth," he looked away for a moment. "I always wanted to go there, growing up was always fighting for food and training. We weren't starving or anything, but there were just so many of us. I always imagined it as a place where everything was perfect." He explained. He looked at the ground and laughed at himself. "It sounded less silly in my head," he look back up at her, smiling, waiting for her response.

Suddenly, he saw a male run into Kade. Instinctively, he rushed towards them, standing in between the female and the stranger male. His pulled his lip back, showing his teeth, and his ears and tail went back. The fur on his neck raised and he let out a low growl.

Kade || Female || 5 years || No mate || Beta female

Kade was beginning to carefully pluck the quills out, using her teeth, when Dakota ran up. "Kota, calm down," she murmured. "He stuck his face in a porcupine . . . No, I don't know why. It was an accident." She walked around him and began to take the rest of the spikes out. Soon they were all out, but the fur was slightly matted in blood. Even more carefully, she licked the blood out before it could dry. Dried-in stuff in fur was almost impossible to get out by yourself.


Rivers || Female || 3 years || No mate || Scout

Rivers laughed and gently butted Dakota in his shoulder. "That doesn't sound silly," she promised. "Everyone has dreams . . . Well, I've never heard of the Valley of Hope." She was distracted as he ran off at Kade and another male. The male didn't seem like he was attacking and Kade seemed fine, so she remained in her place, sitting beside Sollux.

Twist || Female || 4 Years || Omega

Twist looks up at Velvet, scarcely moving even as the femme stepped on her splayed paw, which actually hurt quite a lot even if she hadn't shown it. She was so used to pain, it hardly bothered her anymore. She gives a small, partially fake smile. "Oh, no! Of course not. I can assure you pain doesn't get through to me much. Anymore, anyway." She assures the alpha, lowering her ears and adverting her eyes. Alphas made her nervous, even if they seemed kind. She shivers slightly, even though it wasn't cold in the least.

She shakes her head at her beautiful superior's second question. "Nothing a wolf such as yourself should be worried about. It doesn't matter, in any case." The black she-wolf says quietly, sadness clouding her gaze. She was perfectly fine, physically. Her injury wasn't so bad anymore, even if it was still quite sore. But blood had clotted over it, and Twist didn't think she would reopen it any time soon, even with walking. Mentally, she was collapsing. She was terrified these wolves would treat her in the same manner her last one had, that they would eventually turn on her for being the pathetic little mouse she was. She could be so bold one moment, but an absolute train wreck the next. All because she was so unsure of where she stood. She knew she was at the bottom, but her heart sang that she shouldn't be. She partially wished that her pack had survived unscathed, and she could continue being their plaything. On the other paw, she knew they would probably kill her, or some male would do something worse and she would have to bear the weight of knowing she caused the same treatment to something as innocent as pups. A small smile flickers across her face at the thought of little ones. In her old pack, she would have no chance at a mate and pups who had a chance. But here, perhaps. No, she shouldn't think that way. What male would want such a mangled, ugly thing? No one. The males seemed to fawn over Velvet. But that black and white male she had seen in the clearing, and that other omega she had met that morning... She somehow didn't mind imagining being with either of them. But once more, no wolf would want her. She didn't deserve happiness. In some twisted way, she hoped these wolves would treat her horribly. It was what she deserved, after all.

Lyall || Male || 3 Years || Fighter

Damn! Lyall thought as he heard a voice, and turned sideways to see Cyber. "Perfecty fine! Erm, do you think anyone else saw that?" He asks, blushing under his fur. He was desperately hoping no one had, but knowing his luck, everyone had. It was quite comical, and if he had seen someone else do it and known they were fine he likely would have chuckled, but he liked to keep up a better profile than losing his balance by scratching his ear. He was taught better than that! Yes, he was bulky with muscle and shouldn't try balancing on three legs, but how many wolves fell over by doing such a simple action? Besides, Cyber was sort of pretty, most she-wolves in the pack were, and she had seen him fall on his face. How embarrassing!

Toki’s Appearance

The clumsy male sat, embarrassed as he could ever be, while the female plucked out the quills that had been embedded in his face.
He flinched every time a piece was pulled out of his skin.
The small wounds itched quite a bit, but were much better once the she wolf had licked most of his face clean.
Toki opened his eyes, the faint light that illuminated the area at this time burning what sensation he had left in them.
If it wasn't apparent that he had some problems with his sight, it was now.
His eyes were slightly glossed over and twitched slightly when anything in sight moved.

"T-Thank you. I'm sorry a ran into you, I kinda got into a... mess a while ago.

The scrawny male shook his head a bit, shaking off the bits and pieces of foliage that stuck to the small wounds.
He then stood up, his ears moving around as if scanning the surroundings.

"Toki. I'm Toki."

Dakota watches the male and Kade for a moment before returning to Rivers. He was very uneasy with strangers. He had difficulty trusting and accepting stranger wolves that easily. He looked at the trees, then at Rivers and smiled. "You want to go for a walk?" He asked her, standing and gesturing towards the trees.

"No, I don't think so," she giggled. She looked at him and saw he was embarrassed. She laughed and patted his shoulder with her paw. Just then she saw Kade talking to an injured male. "At least it wasn't as bad as that," she told Lyall, giggling.

Startled awake by a crashing noise Nova stiffened as she saw a strange young male wolf crash into Kade, concerned for her fellow pack mate Nova lept to her feet ready to stand at Kade’s side if it came to a fight,but relaxed when she saw that the young male was not attacking. In fact it looked like he had met an angry porcupine rather recently.Nova shook her head in amusement, she herself had payed for her curiosity with a face full of quills not long after Romak had found her on the riverside, Nova winced remembering the pain and was glad to see that Kade was helping the male remove the quills.The quills would have been impossible to get out if alone and would likely have killed the young wolf by making it impossible to hunt,eat and defend himself.

Seeing that she wasn’t needed Nova looked around seeing the omega, Twist, acting different from how she normally did. Instead of the confident stance Nova had first seen her in she was cowering, folding into herself. Nova had seen the behavior before and It came as no surprise that Twist, who had obviously served as a punching bag for a former pack would be having a very difficult time standing up for herself after learning that she had once again been chosen as an omega. Walking up to the slightly shivering wolf Nova rubbed against her comfortingly. After silently sitting beside Twist for a while Nova spoke. “ It is more easy to be dominant ,Twist, then submissive. Being dominant means you're in control of your life while being submissive means that you have to hand over that control to others. Wolves who might not notice that they have been given a great honor by holding your life in their paws. I do not know how this pack will treat the gift you have given them, but I can assure you that I will not let any of them hurt you not even the alphas themselves if it comes to that.
Looking at Twists wounds with respect Nova continued. Dominant wolves always try to find opportunities to get a higher rank, it is instinct and can not be ignored. As a result one of the only wolves a dominant can truly trust not to steal his/her rank is an omega. There are two types of Omegas I have seen, the kind I can trust to stand behind me no matter what and the kind that rolls in the dirt believing he or she is lower than the bugs that crawl in it.Which one are you going to be Twist?” Nova asked watching the battered wolf closely, then suddenly she tilted her head, a sign of curiosity. “Perhaps you will be neither...perhaps you’ll be a whole new kind of omega. Leaving the Twist to muddle over her words and hoping the she-wolf would regain her former spirit, Nova walked away looking around at her pack mates wondering when the alphas would call everyone over to howl the beginning of the long journey ahead.

Nova was watching the wolves when she saw her fellow fighter, Lyall, fall while trying to scratch his ear. Chuckling to herself she walked up to Cyber and Lyall just in time to hear his question. “I’m afraid that I saw it too Lyall. Nova said quietly laughter in her voice and humor sparkling in her mysterious blue eyes. “What do you think Cyber? Do you think anyone else saw Lyall stumble from his manly pose.” She asked, silently asking Cyber to tease Lyall with her.

Luna | Female | 1 yr. 1 month| Pup

Luna looked to Cyber as the female approached her, "Yeah boring is an understatement. I just wish I could feel more at home thats all. And no thanks I am not a newborn pup I don't find interest in chasing bugs that have glowing butts." Luna remained sitting there and looked back down at the ground. She felt partially bad for the way she had said that to the female, but she didn't want to get treated like a pup and outcast because she was younger than the rest of them.

As Luna sat there all of a sudden she felt a pull on her tail and stood up growling facing the bird that had done it. Luna did not know the magpie was a companion of one of the wolves, because she hadn't met some of the new wolves. Luna showed her teeth to the bird angered and turned away slowly walking into the center of the clearing until her attention turned to a bit of a ruckus with Kade. Luna raised her head high seeing what the issue was, when Luna walked over she saw a very cute male wolf that seemed younger getting porcupine quills pulled form him by Kade. Luna sort of felt bad for the male and wished she could help, but knew Kade would want to be dominant and do it herself. As Luna stood close behind Kade gazing at the new male she heard him say his name.....Toki...she quietly yelped with excitement to herself and stood there as tall as she could.

Luna liked the way this male seemed and wanted him to at least notice her, she cleaned her fur nice and stood tall hoping he would notice her behind Kade and introduce himself to her. Right now that is all Luna wanted, to have a male to call her own, to take the journey with. She could see his eyes were slightly fogging and was attracted to his ear. The differences made him stand out and drew Luna even more to him. Her tail wagged as in her head all she could say was Look over here! Look at me please!

Lyall || Male || 3 Years || Fighter

Lyall groans as Nova walks over and reports that she had observed his glorious faceplant as well. "Might as well call me Splat then, huh?" He jokes, poking fun at himself. Ah, well, if anyone else had seen, what did it matter? It wasn't as though he was going to scratch an itch in the middle of a battle or while hunting. Besides, it was very amusing. He had always been sort of clumsy, so he was sure something like this would happen again in the near future. He grins at the two femmes, amber eyes sparkling.

"Let's just hope I don't manage to do that right next to a cliff. That seems like it was make quite the messy scene. And then what would you all do without my manly grace? The pack would fall to absolute ruins! I'm such an important part, don't you know. Falling is completely necessary to keep everyone together. Why, if it weren't for that little stunt right there, you all would have shed all your fur! It's a horrible symptom." Lyall lets out an exaggerated sigh, holding a paw to his head and staggering back several steps as though it really were such a horrible thing.

He looks over at the unfortunate soul who had stuck his face into a porcupine, run into Kade, and someone pissed off Dakota. "Well isn't that a terrible fate?" He asks drily, snorting back laughter. Even he was smart enough to keep his nose away from those prickly creatures. He didn't know a soul who hadn't been warned away from them, and they'd all kept themselves away, that was for sure! Hadn't anyone told this wolf to be careful?

Raoula|Female|4 years old|Scout

Raoula lay half-in and half-out of the shade, tail flipping lazily and eyes half closed. Flies droned around her ears; every now and then she would twitch her ears to scare them off. The other wolves seemed to be mingling and talking, but Raoula was left alone under the trees. She was happy that she had been chosen as a Scout and was rather proud of her rank. When she had led Nova to the alphas, she had seen that the other femme seemed to think she was an omega, but she wouldn't be any such thing. She saw no need to fight for a different rank. Being a Scout suited her just fine.

Aatu|Male|5 years old| Pup Sitter

Aatu yawned loudly. He lay opposite Raoula, and was running through thoughts in his mind. He had been chosen as a Pupsitter, and really didn't mind. He knew some wolves considered that a low rank, but it was better than being an Omega, right? He was too content, too placid to fight for a different role. It just wasn't worth it. Besides, he loved pups. Letting his gaze range around the clearing, (of course noticing many females while he did so), he saw the pack's only pup, Luna, standing by Kade and a male who seemed to be getting porcupine quills removed from his face. Aatu snorted in laughter, then rose to his paws and padded over to them. "Hello, Luna," he greeted the pup, and sat down across from her. He nodded at the other male. "Who's this?"

Rivers || Female || 3 years || Scout

Rivers nodded. Something seemed a little weird about this new male, something about his eyes, that bothered her. Like she was almost, but not quite, blind. And it put her off a little. So she brushed up against Dakota, padding into the woods. She guessed that he wanted to talk about something, or just get away from those eyes, and she was okay with either. At least she got to spend some time with him.

Kade || Female || 5 years || Beta female

Kade nodded. The male, Toki, had very strange eyes and had she not seen the horrible things she'd seen as a pup it may have unnerved her. As it was, it was just another odd wolf. "It's nice to meet you, Toki. I am Kade, the beta of this pack." She referred to herself as the beta and not the beta female because there was only one beta at the moment. And that was her. She felt Luna's presence behind her and really, really wished that the pup wouldn't get into every situation. But whatever. As long as she didn't get another crush on anyone like she'd had on Remington, they would probably be good, though she was still a little irritated with Luna for that stunt when they were hunting that almost got Velvet killed.

Dakota walked beside Rivers as they entered the wooded area. He liked her, he felt he could talk openly with her. "Do you ever think of them?" He asked her. "I mean, your old pack?" He waited a second. "I'm sorry, I get it if you don't like talking about it," he looked at the ground, then at her. He didn't mind talking about his family, but he understood if it was too soon or if she didn't like talking about it.

Cyber | Female | 3 years | Pup Sitter

Cyber laughed at Lyall's joke, then turned her attention to Nova. "I love your bird friend," she told her. "How did you two manage that anyway?" She asked smiling. Suddenly, she remembers Flora. Sadness overcomes Cyber as she thinks of her sister. After Nova replies, Cyber addresses both of the wolves. "It was nice meeting you two," she says, walking away. She missed her sister deeply. Cyber walks towards the bushes to think. She lays down underneath one, her back pressed against it. There, she thinks about her old pack. She looked over at Aatu and Luna. Three wolves to take care of one pup. They must have pups soon, she thinks.

Toki’s Appearance

Toki looked around, attempting to get a good idea of how many wolves were around him.
His attention seemed to be all over the place, his eyes twitching between every glance.
His sight was obviously bothering him.
Toki turned back to Kade, still very unsure of everything.

"N-nice to meet you, Kade. You sure know how to remove quills from faces!"

The male scoffed, visibly annoyed with himself.
Had he really just said that?
He shook his head and looked away.
Toki wanted to talk to Kade, but he knew he probably just made her impression of him worse.
He instead turned to the small female a ways behind Kade.
He could see that she was quite smaller than the others, noting that she may be closer to his age.
Toki looked back at Kade, and decides to just nod and turn away, signaling thanks and closure to the conversation, or what had been somewhat of one.

"All the time," she answered, after a moment of peaceful silence. "They weren't the best pack but they weren't the worst, either. But . . . I feel bad for saying this. I just am a lot happier here. I was talking to Sollux about this, when she said I was interesting, but I was kind of always picked on for my weird fur and I was told no one would ever want to be my mate and that I wasn't interesting. But I got here and people want to talk to me and are actually interested in me."

Dakota listened to Rivers. "Never bully someone for something they have no control over," he said. "My dad told me that a long time ago," he looked at Rivers fur. "Besides, I like your coat." He smiled at her. "It's, different... Special," he nudged her shoulder with his own, and continued walking.
