• PLOT •

Chernobyl was once a thriving city that was left abandoned from a radioactive explosion. Due to the radiation that now circulates throughout Chernobyl, it is eerily silent and devoid of human life. The only people who can be seen lately are tourists who venture on the outskirts of the land, safely away from dangerous radiation exposure. The only beings that remain are animals, who have unfortunately suffered from permanent disfiguration, mutations, and terminal and psychological illnesses. Every day is a struggle for survival, whether it be for territory, food, or getting past the dog who's mental stability has withered away from radiation poisoning. _____________________________________________________________________

Once upon a time there lived a cheerful community bustling with a youthful presence. Not anymore. This creepy area is filled with old toys, broken rides and tumbledown ticket booths. Mothers always whisper to their pups that this place is haunted and filled with forsaken souls. Just a tale, of course. Or is it?

More accurately labelled Red Forest by humans, this vast stretch of uninhabited woodland gives off an eerie sense of dread from it's silence and strangely red-coloured vegetation.

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade snarled softly as the deer came down and one ear twitched slightly in acknowledgement of the compliment. "Ah, but I could not have taken this one alone, not today," she answered. "But if you'd like to keep me around . . . You'll have to stay when I cannot wake." Her voice was soft and without really saying anything else, she began to eat, easily devouring several pounds of meat before she looked back up, her muzzle streaked with blood. Ever neat, she licked it off.

For a moment, she just looked at Roman, staring him down with her calm gaze, and then she spoke again. "You asked how I know I'm not dreaming," she murmured quietly. "I'm never hungry in dreams; we hunt for the thrill and eat because we can. In life, I am more often hungry than not."

Lina - Borzoi - 4 Years - Female
Location: Streets
Mentions: None

The borzoi walked along the streets of the city, carefully placing each step. Lina's eyes switched left to right, left to right. Her ears were pricked, listening for any noise. Her nails clicked on the asphalt of the city streets. Her thick fur was making her hot, irritable, and paranoid. Not that anyone could tell by her face. No, her face stayed emotionless, as always. Lina opened her mouth and panted slightly, looking to relieve herself from the heat. She spotted a small tree near a crumbling sidewalk, and made her way toward it. The borzoi laid down under the little shade the tree gave her, and scanned her surroundings once again before closing her eyes.

|Dalton|Male|Mixbreed|5 Years old|
Location: Streets.
Mentions: None.

After a short moment of rest the male lifts his head from the pavement and glances around at the misty sidewalks. He runs his tongue over his teeth slowly, realizing the growing dryness in his throat. With shaky movements he crawls back to his feet and stumbles along in search of anything to drink. His breath coming out in strained gasps, he glares down at his bony legs who seemed to be moving in their own staggering and uneven gait.

He loathed his emaciated body. But he knew he was better off than some who had been born with defects from the radiation. He had seem dogs who resembled animals in the late stages of rabies but had never come in contact with the disease, driven mad by some unknown disfigurement deep within their brains. A shudder runs up his spine at the thought and he glances around at the alleys as he passes, his ears perking at the far away barking of dogs.

|Zulu|Male|Pitbull Mix|Alleyways|Mentions: Manolo|

Snorting out a very faint laugh, the strange looking dog lowered his face so he was eye to eye with the much smaller dog before tilting his head. ”Why are you sorry Manny? If you are hungry you may eat. After all, I did tell you to eat your fill. So go ahead and eat as much as you wish friend.” He said lightly, his tone no longer lilting but instead more focused as his cropped ears flicked back and forth listening for any threats may be coming. Zulu wouldn’t have any dog being hurt or chased off while under his watch, and with this being an area for the more violent dogs he always kept an eye out. Normally his odd behavior, looks, and menacing backwards curving teeth and claws chased others away. So to finally find a dog willing to sit and speak with him made him happy. His tail thumped against the ground lightly and he let his tongue loll out of his mouth before he leaned forward and pulled off one of the back legs to chew on himself. The feeling of bones crunching and breaking was very faint, but he was grateful that he had been in the right state of mind to even hunt. But he knew that there was prey around if one knew where to look, be it cats, birds, rodents, or even dogs that decided he was an easy target.

|Butcher|Male|Great Dane x English Mastiff|Streets|Mentions: Skins, Inconnu, and Ash|

A huff made his sides heave, he carried the rabbit by the back leg and glanced over at Skins before nodding gently. She was right….it was becoming harder to live this close to the center of the city with the amount of dogs that were now there. Butcher shook his head before looking over to make sure Skins was stable leaning against him before he started walking again, thoughts roaming to if they should move away from the center. There was bound to be more food in places like the amusement park or others areas out on the outskirts of town, the forest was off limits due to the fact neither of them could really successfully hunt large mammals. Well not true, Butcher could hunt other dogs very well if the prey ever really ran out, but Skins probably wouldn’t be too happy with that suggestion at all.
It was the faint growling that caught his attention, not the smell of two other dogs. Whipping his head around and dropping the rabbit, his gaze locking onto the set of dogs as his lips peeled back. What was with these trespassers, this was HIS territory. And he was pretty sure Skins would have said something if these two belonged here. The tan fur along his spine bristling up and making him look bigger than normal, it didn’t matter that the larger of the two was closer to him in size. He still had muscle mass and weight on his size. And the scars that showed how many fights he had been in, covering his chest, throat, and shoulders in the large marks.

Inconnu | Genderless/Male | Basenji | 2yrs 8mnths
Location | Streets
Mentions | Ash, Skins, & Butcher

The basenji cowered at the large female's question, even as relief flooded in, the distance between them increasing as she stepped back. It wasn't so much that he relaxed altogether -- on the contrary, he tensed, tasting the opportunity that had fell at his paws. No longer shoving herself into his face, she had given him room to scale the fence, if he so chose, though clearly she hadn't a notion that he could be capable of such a thing. She was even becoming less hostile, as far as he could tell, but it would be better not to trust such a front. Smiling or snarling, a dog could sink his fangs into one's body with equal ease. Shifting slightly so he was no longer pressed against the fence, he warily rose his gaze to meet hers, tail wagging weakly. What had he been doing here? What would any dog be doing here? he mused silently, carrying the conversation in his mind while no word lay upon his lips. Constantly wandering the streets, searching for food while simultaneously keeping a look out for dogs that would sooner rip a dog's skin off than look at them. And who was she to ask him? It had little effect on her -- he had just happened to wander nearby and, realizing his mistake, he had made haste to avoid confrontation. But no -- she had to chase after him and interrogate because she apparently felt she had the right. Annoyance building within him, he remained mute nonetheless, completely disinterested in speaking his mind, or replying for that matter.
His attitude promptly changed as his sharp senses acknowledged the presence of more dogs. Shivering as his muscles went rigid beneath his pelt, he disregarded Ash entirely as the pair came into view. And what a pair, indeed. The first was molded of skin and bone, the structures beneath prominent, nearly poking through her pelt of flawless white. An array of pelts lay across her back in a most curious fashion – a facet of her appearance that the little dog immediately acknowledged as chilling. She was unnaturally angular, and tall – though not quite measuring up to the brute that met her side. Fear immediately sent his heart skipping. He was massive, his close-lying fur emphasizing the fact even more so. Raw muscle rippled beneath his tan pelt, cropped ears held erect – before they angled toward them, their position betrayed by the voice of the female before him. The brute's gaze soon followed, and the hostility was clear as his lips peeled back to reveal a dangerous set of canines. Impossibly, he seemed to grow in size as the fur along his back became erect, the scars across his pelt becoming all the more visible. A sharp whine rose in Inconnu's throat, the threat of this new pair escalating the situation beyond what he could comprehend. He flinched as his hindquarters came into contact with the fence once again, his paws forcing him through the motion of backing away, even as the confrontation appeared inevitable. Ears plastering against his skull, he uttered a mournful yodel. The only hope he held was that the brute would attack the female before him instead, allowing him time to escape. If not, well -- he could expect his time from this point on to be particularly short.

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|
Location: Headquarters | Mentions: None, a poor cat, Open for approach

"So, as I was saying before you so rudely interrupted me..."
The cat was staring at Checkers with wide eyes, its shivering body showing just how fearful it was. Checkers knew that it just needed to get to know him better. They were the best of friends, and he wanted the cat to know that.
"Billy, did you know that that bright light in the sky is actually the sun?" he continued, like the cat could understand or care of what he was talking about. "It's true. It isn't a big human flashlight or anything. I bet you didn't know that. Cats aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, after all. No offense meant, of course, Billy," he added quickly.
The cat squirmed again, but it was still stuck under the blue basket. Checkers's paws were firmly planted on top of it, keeping the cat trapped inside. If the cat was nice to him, then he wouldn't need to trap him!
"Billy, you never listen to me!" Checkers snarled, his eyes flashing. "Why can't you just be my friend? I've been kind!"
The cat, 'Billy', let out a hiss in response.
"Oh, that is it, you little brat!" Checkers snapped, stepping off of the basket. "You'll regret your rudeness!"
He kicked the basket aside, sending it flying. It clipped the cat's head, making it confused as it stood in shock at the suddenness of Checkers's assault. Checkers leapt at the cat, grabbing it around the neck just as it tried to run. The cat squirmed again, and it irritated Checkers beyond measure. So to prove to dear 'Billy' he was serious, he bit down on its neck.
The cat went limp. Good, he understands, Checkers thought gleefully. He dropped the cat to the ground. "See? It's better if we're friends! Oh... wait..." He lowered his head and studied the cat. "Oh, I killed you. Whoops." He let out an annoyed sigh. "Whatever. I'm sure there are more Billys around here. I just have to find them." He stood up and leapt out of the shop.

(Piper, can I just say I absolutely adore your description of Skins and Butcher? I loved reading that)

ROMAN | MALE | 4 YEARS | TAMASKAN DOG
Location: Softcall Forest
Mentions: Kade

His ears twitched slightly at her words, a thoughtful gleam in his amber eyes. Would he actually want to stay alongside her? The question was never shone in a serious light until now. Roman had remained solitary for as long as he could remember, refusing to stay by another canine's side after the disappearance of his family. "How long could that be?" He asked in his deep voice, watching her bow her head and begin to devour the unfortunate creature they had stolen the life out of. The sight of blood along her jawline made his fur bristle anxiously, eager to taste the scarlet substance. Finally, he leaned down and scraped meat off of the carcass with his curved teeth, swallowing down the meat hurriedly. He hadn't eaten a meal like this in some time, the majority of his diet consisting of thin rats and the occasional coyote that wandered just a bit too close for his liking. When the tamaskan was done, he lifted his head, his amber orbs finding her brown ones locked on him quite quickly, "That makes sense," He growled in response, sitting down and running his tongue across the silver-grey fur of his muzzle, now stained crimson. He looked away, his eyes narrowing as he became thoughtful, "Your dreams are quite perplexing, but fairly innocent. It makes me wonder just whatmade me come into your mind while you sleep," He looked at her, I sound like I'm her protector or something. But I protect nobody."I've implied I've never dreamed before. But I have, many, many months prior. You don't want to know the things that I do in my dreams," A soft, whispy snarl escaped his jaws.

SKINS | FEMALE | 5 YEARS | IBIZAN HOUND
Location: The Streets
Mentions: Butcher, Inconnu, Ash

A paper-thin ear flicked in the direction of her companion as a thick growl welled up in his throat, and she glanced at him slightly. The two dogs looked harmless, really, but she was all too aware of Butcher and his sense of die-hard protection when it came to their territory. Separating her thin form from Butcher's limb and taking a rather daring step forward for a blind dog, she attempted to get a better idea of what was going on here. She could detect the scent of fear and uneasiness, clearly radiating off a smaller canine who's gender was strangely difficult to determine. The other dog, much larger she guessed with a rather aggressive disposition, was female and trying to assert herself to the other dog. What nerve this she-dog had, trying to act dominant in someone else's territory. "What do you think you're doing?" Her thin jaws snapped in the direction of the two, her sightless eyes vibrant in the darkness of the alleyway. Her voice was sharp and.. strange, a distant lilt to her tone that had never been heard before by any dog in this city. "I do not believe these are your lands to be defending, or demonstrating assertion with. I believe you should leave that to us". She told the larger dog, the bones beneath her pelt rolling and turning beneath her thin skin as she continued towards them. While her words might have sounded like a threat towards both Ash and Inconnu, her bad intentions were truly towards Ash.

Nora | Female | Softcall Forest | Interacting with No one, Open for Interaction

Nora stalked the forest floor, following the scent of a rabbit. The eerie red vegetation sent chills down her back, and she was sweating. She came to a halt, staring at the small, bony rodent with cold amber eyes. It seemed to be feasting on a weed of some sort. Slowly, she would creep forward, tail held low just above the ground so that it would not brush against any fallen leaves or things of that sort, as to not alert her target. Nora breathed slowly in and out through the nostrils, causing her breath to be silent yet controlled. Now, she was only a few tail-lengths from the rabbit.
The rabbit lifted its head, looking into the eyes of Nora, but before it could try to make an escape, she ran dead on, before trampling it and stepping on its throat. Her teeth were bared now, and she was breathing heavily. Not from exhaustion, but from exhilaration. The rabbit's breath slowed as she blocked her air passage ways. Nora decided to end its misery and picked it up, and applying pressure in her jaws, the warm metallic taste of blood rushing over her, making her flinch. It was dead now, and she was on the brink of tears. She released it, causing it to fall to the ground like a ragdoll. Now she would try to calm herself down, telling herself that she had to. This was a problem, not wanting anything or anyone to die in a world where death was the ticket to survival. With a sigh, she would eat the skinny rabbit right there. It didn't fill her belly completely, but it would keep her satisfied.

Manolo|Male|Chihuahua|4 y/o
Mentions: Zulu
Location: Alleyways

When their eyes met Manolo couldn't help but look away, out of slight fear, but mostly out of submissive habit. He gave a slight nod, his dried lips curling into a small, lopsided smile. Beginning to eat again, he gnawed on the felines meat until the cramps in his stomach dissipated and turned into the weighted feeling of a full stomach. He'd eaten much to fast, causing a new set of pains to fill his body, but it wasn't something he wasn't used to. The sound of Zulus wagging tail made his short appendage wag as well and he slowly moved to lie down before the other, licking drying blood off of his small, weathered paws. Despite the others very apparent (and very frightening) features, Manolo could feel a good aura radiating off of Zulu and it made him put his guard down.

It had been a long time since he'd relaxed even the slightest, the constant threats keeping him on his toes at all times, but this was different and it was nice. "Zuluioun...How long have you been here?" He asked quietly, wanting to make conversation so he wouldn't have to leave. He hadn't seen Zulu until now, despite the countless interactions he had with others; then again this was a massive place, and he'd yet to see it all.

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|
Location: Headquarters | Mentions: None, Open for approach

Checkers strolled along, muttering to himself. He hadn't caught any more cats - he had only seen one, and it had raced away the second it saw him. He had shouted, "New Billy, come back!" but the cat didn't seem to care.
He was no longer inside the building. Checkers wanted to go somewhere else. Everyone was rude here at the abandoned building, and he didn't have time for it. He had thought hard about it, and he decided he wanted to go to Softcall Forest. That place was beautiful, with all its shades of pretty red. Hopefully it would calm him down, because he hated being upset.
"Maybe I'll find an interesting cat there," he growled quietly, prowling away from the Headquarters. "Not likely. Cats aren't good company. I need a good ole' fashioned dog. At least they wouldn't be as stupid as a cat. Let's hope none of them are like Billy."
Lifting his tail with pride, he forced back his anger and began a steady lope. He would reach the Forest soon at this speed, and then he would calm down. After that, he would find a dog worthy of his attention. The idea made a bark of laughter escape his maw. And if they aren't worthy, I'll teach them a lesson for so much as looking at me.

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade only barely heard what he'd said; a spot of blood that had somehow gotten onto his ear had distracted her. In a manner similar to a cat, she licked the rough bottom of a paw and reached out, though she paused before actually touching Roman. "There's some blood on your ear; let me get it," she said, knowing it was best to wait for his permission before coming into contact with him. They'd not touched at all since meeting, and while it didn't feel strange to remain apart, she didn't know if it was because he disliked contact with other dogs or not.

Paw still in the air, Kade added, "You used to be very violent, in dreams, for a few weeks after you showed up. You'd fight me and the night terrors alike; somehow, you never killed me. I don't know what made you show up, but I guess it must have been around the time you stopped dreaming. Eventually I got you to where I could actually communicate, in the way you communicate in dreams."

Prokopenko || Male || 3 years || Mutt (Huskey, German Shepard, Great Dane) || Blind
Location: Softcall Forest

Proko liked the forest, though he couldn't explain why. Other dogs may have been creeped out by the all-red coloring, but because he couldn't see it, it didn't matter to him. The silence was a little unnerving, but he'd gotten used to that, too, over time, and now he thought of it as home. On the way to the water, he listened for any sign of the two he'd heard earlier, but only heard the rustling of branches in a slight breeze. Soon, he was at a small, spring-fed pool, where he washed off his bleeding paw (unintentionally reopening the small wound, though it scabbed back over within moments) and took a moment to get a drink.

Mentions: None. Open for Approach :D
Location: Softcall Forest

She limped under a red, giant tree, sitting down and raising her head to lock them on the sky. She felt a wash of serenity flow through her veins, and hesitated for a second on her idea. She just shook her fur our a little and lifted her head higher, letting her voice stream out a loud, silky howl. Mya knew the action was stupid, for it would draw attention of others to her, but the tingly feeling she got of being in this place made it unresistable. She dropped her head back down and smiled, laughing even a little, and her tongue fell out and lolled at the side of her mouth. She plopped down into a laying position and rested her head on her paws, not sleeping, but letting this time where she was away from other insane dogs grow longer.

Nora | Female | Softcall Forest | Interacting with Checkers, Open for Interaction

Nora had finished her rabbit, and was now walking along the eerie yet beautiful red woods. As she licked the red blood- which matched the trees -from her lips, she made sure to keep quiet and stay low to the ground. Who knew what was out here.
Out of nowhere, she spotted another dog. A lithe male who almost resembled the aesthetics of a wolf. She froze, her anxiety kicking in like a brewing storm. Her heart was racing and she had practically shrank(spelling? xD) out of fear. Nora started to try to walk away, legs buckling and trembling as she did so.

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|

Checkers finally reached the Forest. He was already feeling better, but then he caught sight of a dog. I already meet someone? he wondered, his ears flicking back in surprise. She seemed afraid of him - not too shocking, considering Checkers was a scary dog. He always had a bad aura around him. He wasn't sure if it was because he was mean, or because he was crazy. Or it could be both, he supposed.
"Well hello there!" he called out cheerfully. She was backing away from him. He didn't want her to run. The urge to leap at her with teeth bared came suddenly, but he pushed it back. He might do that if she continued backing away, but for now, he would be kind. Perhaps this dog wasn't like that dreadful Billy.
"Please don't leave!" he murmured, his tail wagging hopefully. "I haven't spoken in a dog in some time - it would be great to finally meet an intelligent dog."
