I thought I'd post this here, since I see so many people who see no improvement in their own art, even though in reality you're improving every time you draw. This is the improvement I've made in the space of a year. January 2015January 2016You WILL get better, please have total faith in yourself and practise. Don't lose your passion and drive for art. <3 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials you could look at! From books to videos, there's quite a good amount of material to at least get the basics down! I, on the other hand, took the much more time-consuming route heh If I was waiting in line somewhere and I'd have nothing to do, I'd usually look around and try to understand poses and movement from what I saw in the people around me ^^' But as of late I've resorted to pictures since randoms on the street can only help so much! 0 players like this post! I am so envious of you, guys. I wish I was a good artist, I really wish I was able to draw.... Sadly, I just do not improve, and I have been told several times I will never improve, no matter how hard I try, because I just don't have it. I know practise makes improvement and artists get better year after year but what most does not understand is that it actually does not work for every one. There are people that will practise every day for like 10 years and still draw like a 6 years old kid. And there are people that will start from nothing and become really good within only 5 months of practise. Practise and hard work play a good part in art, but talent does as well. Without talent, you will never be an artist. And I have no talent. This is why I do not draw any more. I miss it, I really miss it, but when I try drawing, it just makes me mad about myself.... I know I am supposed to draw for the fun of drawing and not for the final result, but when you are 22 years old and draw like a kindergarten kid it just gets frustrating and you starts hating everything about yourself. /ends of the useless rant Beside this. It is nice to see how you guys improved! Lots of you are doing really amazing art! I love seeing artist's improvement :D 0 players like this post! Like? |

Shu - Your art is absolutely fantastic. What incredible improvement you've made in the last year! And such a variety of different styles, too! <3 Scyllarus - Those examples you posted are so awesome and dynamic, I love it! <3 GrumpSketchFox - You are definitely improving TONS. <3 I am jealous of your human skills, I'm terrible at drawing bipeds! xD FallingRivers - Don't worry! I used to be in your exact position! <3 Work hard at school and the moment you're finished and have the chance to get some free time, you can draw more! Make sure you always enjoy your art, though! ^^ That's what drives my improvement. Seiden, I am really sorry that you feel that way. Not a single person has ever told me that talent is the only way to art. <3 Doesn't sound like you had very nice teachers or art guidance. <33 Please, I encourage you to try again. Even if you just attempt to replicate anatomy from reference images for your own practise! You WILL get better, I promise. Anaki - Thank you! I have seen your art many times, and you are definitely improving! ^_^ Keep looking at anatomy references when you do a piece, and you'll be amazing in no time! <3 0 players like this post! Like? |

Well, when I draw a fox, for example, I find several images of foxes in a variety of poses so that I have a reference for how the limbs should look, where the joints should be, and what a natural position for the head etc is. :3 That's mostly how I improved. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I've done hundreds of tutorials. Even those are hard for me. Each tutorial everyone draws something differently, so I can't really learn anything. Study on anatomy will NOT help me. I know my feline anatomy, Along with Canine anatomy, And I can tell you that it doesn't ever help me. Once again. Beautiful art. 0 players like this post! Like? I would beg to differ! Studying up on anatomy is practically ESSENTIAL to learning on how to improve! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Clockkey, I'm sorry that you feel that way. If art causes you so much upset, perhaps a break from it might be best? If you come back to it later with a clearer mind, you may find it easier to practise again. :) I look forward to it, kat! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Alright, the first one is just for kicks and giggles lol Age 5: Age 16-17 (Referenced a book picture for shape of the head) Age 21 (this one was eyeballed and I am posting the link to the original image, so this will be allowed.) Here's the link to credit the owner of the original. Click to view Original Yes that last image may be eyeballed but it's still hard to do. >.<' If that link is broken let me know...it wont pop up for me. Hope that works since the links aren't. http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/dogbreeds/photos-CD/dobermanpinschersf2.jpg 0 players like this post! Like?
