Echopaw's eyes slowly opened, ears flicking a few times as he left the apprentice den, the sun just peaking over the distant mountains and the light poking through the leaves. He stretched, his back dipping down before he began to drag his paws forward towards the fresh-kill pile. He nosed around in it, eyes half open. He went to take a rabbit, gently grabbing it by the scruff before trotting towards the medicine cat den, guided mostly by smell to figure out that this was the right den. He let out a tired meow to let the she-cat know he was there.

Cloverspot was up early checking her herbs again and she looked up when she heard a meow. "Hello, Echopaw," she smiled and looked at the prey he was carrying. She usually didn't get her food until after most of the other cats in the Clan, but asked, "Does your mentor have you starting duties this early? I'm not even sure if the dawn patrol has left yet." Arching her back to stretch, she approached the apprentice that was actually closer to her age than the other older kits in the apprentices den.

Echopaw's ears perked as she spoke, slowly blinking away his tiredness. He approached the she-cat as she walked towards him, meeting her halfway before setting the rabbit down at her paws. "Mm," he began to speak, tiredness lingering in his voice, "I need to work twice as hard to be a warrior. I don't want to be stuck in there until I'm old enough to become an elder." He said with a lazy smile. "But no, he doesn't. It's.. an apology, more like, for yesterday. I messed up with the herbs more than helping, so... I thought I'd bring this to you." He gestured to the rabbit.

"Oh... You were no problem at all, honestly, most apprentices do that if they try to help me at first and now you know the proper way to do it," she said and purred a tiny bit. Looking down at the rabbit, she knew that the apprentices weren't supposed to eat until the rest of the Clan was fed and their duties were done. She wanted to offer to share it with him, but just moved the rabbit into a cool spot in her den so that she could eat it later.

Echopaw's ears flattened slightly, from the relief that he wasn't the only one that failed that badly. He didn't realize how hard it was to just gather herbs.
An idea popped into the apprentice's mind, his tail curling behind him. "Well... If you need help with anything today, I'd be willing to give it another shot, when I'm not cleaning the queens' nests or patrolling." He offered a smile, watching as she moved the rabbit to a cooler spot in the den. He took a moment to look at the den, to just observe it. It was quite tidy, though he supposed one needed to be organized with such a stressful job.

"I have most things that I need today," she told him and looked around, "But you can come share the tablet with me when you are done with your duties, if you wish." The rabbit was too big for her to eat on her own and she would probably go share it with the elders if he didn't want to share tongues with her later in the day. There wasn't a lot for her to do today and she was mainly going to stay around the camp.

The tom's eyes seemed to light up at that. "I'd enjoy that, yeah. If I dont fall asleep by sun-high." He gave another lazy smile, his eyes now more that half open, taking a backwards step towards the exit. "Speaking of duties, I should probably go ahead and do those. Cleaning nests, hunting, all that." He said, dipping his head. "It was nice to speak with you again, Cloverspot."

"And you, Echopaw," she smiled and went back to look at her herbs. As the sun rose a bit higher, she went out into the camp to do a bit of a 'patrol' of her own. In this season, things were doing very well. It wasn't cold enough for the elders joints to be paining them yet and no kits or warriors were ill. There were a few queens due soon, but it was only a first litter for one of them. This leaffall, ShadowClan was healthy and well.

After leaving the medicine cat den, Echopaw just awkwardly stood there for a moment. He hadn't really planned on doing stuff until sun up, but he figured he might as well. He visited the elders first, as he figured the older cats would wake up a bit earlier, and cleaned their nests, then he visited the nursery to freshen up the nests in there. By the time the sun was high in the sky, Echopaw had grown tired and hungry. He glanced toward the medicine cat den and walked in, however Cloverspot wasn't in sight. Her scent was stale. Perhaps she had went on another patrol? His whiskers twitched curiously as he left the den and plopped down outside, waiting for her to return. His face pressed against the entrance, and he eventually fell asleep as he waited for her.

Having finished her slow lap of the camp, she let out a churring laugh when she came to see Echopaw sleeping against the entrance to her den. "Echopaw," she said softly and nudged him with a paw, "Wake up before Frogeye sees you." He had been up since early this morning, but maybe he was ready for the meal now. After she ate, Cloverspot was planning on taking a nap of her own.

Echopaw stirred lightly when he heard Cloverspot calling for him, flicking his ears as his eyes slowly opened. He pushed to his paws, stretching out his body. He'd hardly napped- having only been fully asleep for a few minutes. He looked at the she-cat before making his way over to her, stepping farther into the den. "I didn't even realize I fell asleep.. Heh.." he nervously laughed, settling down by the half-eaten rabbit.
