Yes, many people think that 700 is wayy too much, so it'd be better if it was 500 like a lot of players originally thought. |

May I ask why it needs to change? Compared to last year? Is it because more players means more cubs? ![]() |

The problem is the RNG some. I've gotten none in a full bar and I've gotten over 20 in a full bar before. Not only does time invested affect it, which makes sense some, RNG affects it to a far too high degree. I get there being some variations but anywhere from none to 20+ same amount of work making same choices is a bit too much IMHO. ![]() |

I don't have the official reasoning, @north. However, more players means more currency (even if you personally don't get more) and that means more buffalo scrotums entering the game. More scrotes being used means more cubs in less breedings, and since scrotes are mostly used on rare bases/mutations/markings, the value of those things will slowly decrease year-on-year if adjustments to scrote rarity don't happen. It isn't immediately apparent either, because people save up their balls to use for these important breedings, so the effect is spread out across the year but still exists. That's my personal take on it. ![]() |

Look. Say I have something in my game that is rare to breed, so there's 1 in 100 users. People expect to have a 1% chance of breeding it. Now I have 1000 users, so there's 10 in 1000. Everyone, individually, has a 1% chance of breeding it. "But oh," I say, "that's 9 more than before, that's way too many!" Now it's not 'rare', right? So I adjust it to 1 again. 1 in 1000. Now everyone has a .01% chance to breed it. It doesn't matter that I have a whopping 900 more users that want those 10, it just seems like 10 in-game is too much, and not rare any more. This is why 'keeping' things rare shouldn't just 'solved' by saying "slap some more zeroes on it". ![]() |

More buffalo scrotums would be entering the game, yes. But we seem to be cheerily ignoring that more would be being bought, too. ![]() |

@Alex, If this was a change in the rarity of leopons, for example, your argument would be totally correct. But it's a change in the rarity of an item that makes it easier to get a leopon or rare base/mark. The base rarity per 1000 users hasn't changed for any of those rare things, it's just... harder to make it easier for yourself with a luxury item. ![]() |

if they raise the price then the drop rate should be adjusted, obviously the market for balls may start to suck as time goes on (due to more users) but most people buy them to use them, not to sell them ;w; ![]() Edited on 12/08/17 @ 11:32:26 by boxpuppy ❂ (#41549) |

@boxpuppy that would work if the only thing you could buy in this event was the scrotes. But there are a shit ton of decors and backgrounds and bits that you can buy, and changing the drop-rate of DB would affect their prices/rarity too. :c ![]() |

Except they're bought with different currencies. So if you change the DB rate but not the CAB rate those decors/bgs are unaffected. ![]() |

Now my question is, since the shop seems to be opening today, is it worth it to wait to purchase the balls until this is all sorted out? ![]() |

Ah, It just seems to me that the casual player is screwed :p I understand wanting to keep things rare but there has to be a better way than this. I'm not a game designer so I wouldn't know but in all honesty this seems like a weird way to go about it @Vartexus Im going to wait, don't wanna risk losing DB ![]() Edited on 12/08/17 @ 11:37:55 by ❄{North}❆Mottled unholy❆ (#94445) |

It was changed before, as I remember conversation about it being raised. We didn't know by how much however. While it is frustrating, this makes sense. There are more players and there is more currency on the site. If they were still cheap while the site's money kept raising, we would have an economic discongruity. When money goes up, prices go up. It's the way life works. No support. ![]() |

Okay. I have an item in my game that takes a week for my players to get. I have 10 in 100 players getting them, and so 10 in-game. But now I have 20 in 200 players getting them, oh no! Let's ignore the fact that most aren't even selling them, the market will go down!! It's still a 1:10 ratio, but there's 10 more than before!! Let's adjust it so now it takes 4 weeks to get them! Now there will only be 10, just like I wanted. It doesn't matter that that will be 10 in 200, I'm just keeping it fair! ![]() |
