this way they can say its too late to reverse the change and we have to deal with it

Something that occurred to me while talking to my brother, since we're speculating motives, is that server space seems a weird reason. I mean everyone is limited as always with space, so it's no more harmful server wise than spam breeding many lions.

If I careful breed 3 lions with scrote or spam breed everything the latter is likely going to be worse. And people spam breed for mutes and marks all the time tbh.

I still think it's illogical to make this alteration in August but not February, and beyond that Finnegan has said most of my thoughts already, better than I could.

I think casual players are the ones losing out most from this change, and they tend to be the ones struggling anyway. Imo changes like this just increase the divide between rich/'extreme'/'serious' players, and the average player just looking to get a few event items each month.

But to emphasise what others have said, I don't think any of us think admins/staff make changes deliberately to upset people - LD is a business, and that would make no sense at all. But this is another instance where no warning has been given, and the way the issue has been handled has got players' backs up way more than it might have done if handled differently. This isn't the first time, and I doubt it will be the last., but it's so frustrating watching these ways of handling things get repeated every time.

Better (or indeed any) communication with the playerbase before making changes that staff must realise are going to be controversial would make such a difference. Would it completely change people's minds and make them support an increase in item prices? No, probably not. But it would reduce the amount of ill-feeling that comes from things like this being sprung on us after people have made their plans for the event and their currency etc.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not a fan of the price hike and I don't think it will solve the underlying issue it's supposedly being introduced to help with, but overall I would feel less frustrated if there was an actual dialogue and warning of things like this, rather than a sudden change and then staff being surprised at having to deal with a huge backlash. It's not fair on players, and it's not fair on mods etc who end up on the defensive about decisions they themselves don't seem to have had much notice of.

Another thing I would like to point out. Dry Bones are also used for the event studs. Many users are able to get Buffalo Scrotums and maybe one or two studdings from the event studs. But with this increase in price, one stud at 200 Dry Bones is rough on a lot of players. So basically it's like this:

Either you get 2 or 3 Buffalo balls but with no chance at the new maned studs (not to mention the mane has a 50/50 chance of passing so you might not even get it for the 200 Dry Bones)

Or you purchase studdings from the event studs and ultimately, put yourself in a position that will make it extremely difficult to obtain even 1 Buffalo Scrotum, let alone 2, or not purchase one at all.

So pick your poison is all I gotta say on the matter.

I agree with Gnar, now with the price change I could hardly afford to return the buffalo balls I'd borrowed to be repayed once the shop opened.
I certainly can't afford even getting one buffalo balls for myself, and an event stud breeding.

Gonna have to choose one or the other, which sucks since I had such a solid plan.

I just wish we had been told, or that there had been a discussion thread between the users and the admins for what we can all agree should happen rather than just dropping a bomb on us like we won't be confused and upset

Exactly what I pointed out earlier :/ That extra 200db that could have gone to decors or such is now a sacrifice that wasn't expected. Changing currencies in the middle of an event on a sim game never really pans out well. Of course the member base is riled up. If you have valid reason to up prices fine. By all means tell us your reasons and do it at the start of the event so players are in the know and have the month to figure out what they want

Speaking of cash grabs -- I just retired my dreamboat king not that long ago, but before I did, the hidden marking thing came out. I got an NCL that said she had a hidden marking in slot 12.

I spent the GBs to open up slots 11 and 12.

There was no marking, and any indication that there ever WAS a marking vanished.

I put it on the bug board several weeks ago, and I've heard nothing about it. Add that in with this cash grabbing nonsense and how hard it is for casual players to get anything neat, plus the abysmal felis and smilus pass rates, I will not be purchasing GB anymore either. There's no point. I wish I had kept track of how much GB I wasted on pennyroyals.

We all went into this event thinking they would be 500DB, then it was changed the day of the shop opening in the wiki to 700DB, which is how many found out, secondhand. This is a change that should have been announced at the beginning of the month, as if affects so many players.

600 is more reasonable. But 700?

Once again casual players are getting the short end of the stick. There's seriously a problem with how things are catered toward wealthier or more extreme players as they are the ones who can afford the energy boosts for currency grinding and thus are able to buy rare event items like Buffalo Scrotums en masse.

Where the casual player was once able to buy a decent 3 (or more possibly) Buffalo Scrotums, now they're gonna be lucky if they can afford even 2.

700 DB is way too steep. 550 or maybe even 600 would have been a much fairer price raise, but adding 200 DB to the original 500 DB price (which is still a pretty high price, honestly!) is just too much imo.
