A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." Suddenly, a sharper female voice cuts in. "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black.

setting music
The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down?

──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Current season: Early Winter. [Frigid temperatures. Long nights, short and dark days.]
Current major events:
Time Skip!! 9/5

Two Abolition dogs have been killed by Insurgent pack members. This has caused unrest in both packs.

A massive snow storm has swept over Chernobyl, bringing an early winter and a shortage of supplies.

Amina| Abolition Beta| Abolition Camp| Mentions:

As the leaders left, she set to seuring the camp's borders. Her deep howl rang for a moment to gather the attention of those left at camp. "While the leaders are out WE need to keep things settled here, I want at least three patrols, two for the borders, camp and territory, and a hunting patrol. I would prefer volunteers before assignments. Now, who would like to do what, I intend to head the hunting patrol." She said as she scanned her heterochromatic eyes over the pack. waiting for anyone to step forward

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Territory --> Insurgent Camp
Mentions: Slate, Jonah, Isa, Cassie(Indirectly)

"Why are you here? Leave." Aramis nearly flinched as she watched Jonah's excitement immediately wash away from Isa's woof, a pained smile on his features. She almost felt a little sad for him as he slunk closer to Aramis's mother. "I've come to join the pack! I thought you guys could use an extra set of paws around to help feed everyone." "I don't need a thief robbing my pack blind while we sleep, things are hard enough as it is. Leave, Jonah. I won't tell you again." Aramis watched the sibling's exchange with her ears pressed against her head like Jonah, her gaze switching between the two quickly. Yikes, is this always how they interacted with one another? Makes her wonder why he even came back to see her. Oh and another thing, he wishes to join Insurgent? If this 'cheerful' demeanor of his wasn't a ploy or anything, she wouldn't mind having him around. Having one Isa is already enough, and she has to admit she's curious about him, since he's her kin. Her gaze drifted away from Isa and Jonah to watch as Slate slipped away, watching him go with a disgruntled huff. "I'm assuming Jonah isn't the only thing you need to report?" Oh.. right. Her ears pulled back at Isa's sentence, but before she could drop the hare to report about Slate's doings, Isa spoke again. "Go and feed the brat first. I'd rather you have a clear head when you're speaking to me." Albeit a little miffed about Isa's title for the pup, Aramis nodded, huffing against the hare in her jaws before quickly trotting off towards the hospital.

Dull, black claws clicked against the hospitals flooring, the dame pausing inside the hospital to shake each paw, freeing the snow that had gotten stuck between her toes. WHen she was finished, she plopped her kill on the ground, ears swinging about as her head moved side to side, hoping to see the pup nearby. Guess not.
"Hey, kid, you still here? I've got something if you're hungry." She called out, sitting n her haunches in front of the hare. Oh... right... a lot of 'kids' have arrived since the storm. Would be a great help if I knew this one's name. She thought with a small growl, hoping the right one would come forth.

Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Aramis, Stoney, Isa, Jonah, Slate, Tok, Casseopia, Koroneis, Slip
Shadow watched as Aramis padded into the hospital with a hare in her jaws, their eyes brightening at the sight of their dear friend. I should tell her that Quill woke. Shadow gently picked up Stoney by the scruff of his neck before walking over to where Aramis was now sitting beside the hare. They put Stoney down, sitting and pulling him against their chest in a motherly embrace. "Hello Aramis, it's good to see you made it back alright. I was wondering where you had gone off to." They stopped a moment to adjust where Stoney was sitting, allowing him to see out between their front legs. "Quillion woke a few minutes ago. He wasn't awake long though, and he is still resting in my den."

Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis [directly] Shadow, Curly, Stoney, Jonah, Isa [indirectly]

Cassiopeia stood up, stretching out and letting her dark brown, almost black eyes travel across the hospital. She'd received no answer from the pretty golden dog, and her stomach was gnawing away at her like an annoying tick. Speaking of... She lifted a front paw to drag whatever itchy insect was trying to lodge itself into the crease of the back of her ear, letting out a slight growl. Her snout scrunched up in disgust as she saw it drop to the ground and scurry away. "Eww..." She huffed quietly to herself. Her gaze returned to surroundings, flickering around with dull interest. Right of the bat, she assumed it was a loner group, since, at the moment, there was no obvious display of power being shoved into her face. She looked up when the big black dog and the other pup came into view, but she paid them no attention after a short inspection. Not food. Boring. She began moving away from the curly-furred broad, paws surprisingly silent on the smooth, tiled floor. She wandered around for a few minutes before a loud bark caught her attention, causing her to turn in a sudden, tight circle. Her eyes landed on a spotted dog, with a hare dangling from her jaws. Food... She swiped her tongue around her jaw, slurping up her slight drool. She watched as a slender, grey dog moved forwards to an ornery-looking one that appeared almost identical. Her ears twitched, listening in on the conversation as best she could. Siblings, it seemed. Whatever. Siblings are annoying... I think. I wouldn't know. Her mind drifted off, leaving her standing there with a blank stare. "Hey, kid, you still here? I've got something if you're hungry." She snapped back into awareness, head turning sharply to the voice. Kid? Hungry? I'm hungry! And a kid!! She wasted no time rushing towards the spotty-furred adult with the hare. Her claws now scrabbled loudly against the tile as she practically flew over. "Food!!" She tried to stop herself too late, paws slipping desperately and giving out, leaving her sliding across the tile- until she bumped into the delicious smell of meat, which she promptly tumbled on top of. Who cares where it came from? I haven't ate some food in days! Like, I could eat a whole HORSE, days!!! Before digging, she glanced up briefly at the broad. She recognized the scent just a little, but at the moment, she couldn't tell where from. "Thanks, miss!" And with that, she dug in eagerly, ripping off small chunks of meat and eating them up within an instant. She was like a food-vacuum.

Roland | Loner | Outside of Territories | Mentions; Vanadis [directly]

Roland watched curiously as she sniffed the air, wondering just how much she could smell. "I think its another rabbit...?" Well, she could smell it, that was good. "Yes, exactly. See if you can pinpoint it's location." He paused, taking a sniff of his own and letting his eyes intentionally trail across most of their surroundings so that he wouldn't give away the answer- underneath the rotting pile of wood from earlier. "You don't have to tell me exactly where. Just give me a general area." He shifted, earning the sound of groaning metal from beneath him. They probably shouldn't stay up here for too much longer. He shouldn't, at least. He dragged the rabbit from earlier closer to himself, assuming that she was finished. He took a few meager bites before lifting his head to speak to the pup. "After this, we can go after it. I'm just... Making sure that you can get the most out of this lesson." He leaned back over to the meal, sniffing it a little. He wasn't as terribly hungry as he'd thought he was- he supposed rats and mice had sustained him well enough for the past week. I'll have to preserve this before the next hunt. He dragged his head back up again, lowering his front half and raising his back half to get a good stretch in before he stood. He gave the air another good sniff to double-check the other rabbit's location, then allowed his glare to drop back down to Vanadis as he awaited the next answer.

Kardama| Loner | Location: Abolition Outskirts. (Forest.)
Mentions: Artemis, Selkie.

"Honestly? I could care less." Kardama grunted at the response, her lip twitching slightly in distaste. Typical pack dog. She thought with a sniff. "Mother never let me meet any other wolves." Her stone-like gaze wandered down to the pup as their small voice piped up. Hopefully this will enlighten you. The words never made out of her muzzle, however. As soon as she glanced back up her eyes locked onto the tiny figure emerging from the tangle of thorns. She immediately thought it was a pup, and although her expression never wavered, her eyes began to search the area for the older dog accompanying them. Coward. Letting a pup confront us like this. Her brow furrowed slightly as the notion slipped through her mind. "Where isβ€”" She began, her voice quickly dissipating as the small dog finally shook themselves and spoke.

"This is what you wanted. What exactly do you plan on doing now, packless?" Her dark eyes snapped back onto the silky-furred canine as their voice rang out. Her ruined ears perked forwards uncharacteristically, a small flash of shock passing across her face before she regained her stoic demeanor. So this is the brave wolf-dog? She remained quiet as she got lost in thought, suddenly regretting calling the strange dame 'little wolf' despite how well it fit her. She found herself studying the fluffy opponent with slightly narrowed eyes. It was hard for her to believe that a dog such as this could survive out here, let alone wander all the way into the forest on their own. It didn't take her long to notice the other dog's piercing glare and a hint of a smile threatened to crease the edge of her muzzle. Brave indeed.

"It will be night soon." Her voice came out hesitantly as she replied, slowly regaining the cold tinge it always carried. "I won't be going back across the border until it's safe forβ€”" Kardama cringed as Artemis leapt from the safety of her paws and bounced towards the strange canine. She made no effort to stop her, only watching with slight discomfort as they hovered dangerously close to the small dog. "Hullo! You're really fluffy!" A defeated sigh slipped out of her muzzle as the filter-less youngster commented on the pack dog's fur. At least she didn't mention her size. She thought with the slightest amount of relief. Although it truly seemed as though this dame was alone, her eyes constantly flashed between the duo and the surrounding trees, mentally preparing for the possibility of more dogs showing up.

Rye | Abolition Warrior | Location: Abolition Territory - Abolition Camp.
Mentions: Amina.

The sun-coated male had been too far away to hear the calls of his leaders, nor was he fruitful in his search for Ferrer. Once a fair distance away from camp he had lost the healer's tracks in the powdery snow. He wasn't the best at tracking as it was and having found them distorted by other pack member's paws as well as covered over with a fine layer of snow, it was useless to keep trying. With a defeated sigh, Rye trudged his way back to camp. Pausing near the entrance to rid his paws of icy clumps, his ears perked as he caught the last of the beta's speech. "I would prefer volunteers before assignments. Now, who would like to do what, I intend to head the hunting patrol." He clambered pack to an upright position, spitting out the bits of snow that had been stuck between his toes. Volunteers? I like to volunteer! His tail began to wag at the thought and he pulled himself to his feet, practically hopping across camp to greet the large female.

"I can go do what ever is needed!" He practically barked at Amina, caught up in the excitement of having a job to carry out. "O-oh. That is, if I am needed." He added, slightly embarrassed by how loud his voice had been. He took a few steps back and plopped onto his haunches to eagerly await the higher ranking dog's orders. A grin was plastered on his face as he glanced his honey eyes around camp, only now becoming aware that the leaders were no longer present. Odd. Where have they gone off to? He thought with a tilt of his head.

Amina| Abolition Beta| Abolition Camp| Mentions: Rye

Amina smiles as she hears Rye's volunteering bark. "Alright, you will lead the patrol around the territory." She says as she then looks to the rest of the pack. "Anyone else?" She barked as she was hoping she wasn't going to have to start assigning dogs that didn't wish to go out. "I'm only asking for two or three dogs per patrol." She barked again.

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Camp
Mentions: Shadow, Stoney, Cassie(Directly)

Aramis's head perked up at the sound of pawsteps coming near, her gaze falling on Shadow's familiar, dark features. Her gaze then fluttered down to a brown heap of fur that they held in their jaws. It took her a second to realize it was a puppy, and she blinked in surprise, watching as the beta set the whelp down, holding it close to her chest. They must have found this one while I was out. Lots of irresponsible parents around this winter. Aramis thought, her head tilting curiously as she peered at Stoney, moments before Shadow spoke. "Hello Aramis, it's good to see you made it back alright. I was wondering where you had gone off to. Quillion woke a few minutes ago. He wasn't awake long though, and he is still resting in my den." Aramis's head perked up at the mention of Quillon, and her tail thumped against the ground happily. The last time she saw him he looked.. dead, to be frank, and to hear that he had woken up was a relief. "Ah, Shadow, yeah, I was out hunting by the border." She huffed out, her face noticably darkening at the mention of Insurgent's border, but she quickly spoke up again. "So I'm guessing Quillon is doing better? I was afrβ€”" "Food!!" Aramis flinched as her sentence was cut off by a loud bark, watching as a brown heap of fluff suddenly barrelled towards her, then crash to the ground and slide the rest of the way. Aramis lifted a paw so the puppy wouldn't crash into it, the pup instead tumbling onto the hare. Oh.. there you are.

"Thanks, miss!" Aramis barely had any time to respond before the whelp practically inhaled the pieces of flesh she tore off, the spotted dame's ears pulling back in reaction. Were puppies always this... ravenous? Was she gorging down her food when she was at this age? She probably's just hungry. Who knows how long she's been out on her own. "You should slow down before you choke, kidβ€”" She said, lifting a paw to probably push the whelp away from her meal, but pulled back, fearing she might get a toe bitten off if she did. "I found this little one out in the storm." She said, her hushed voice now directed to Shadow. While the whelp was eating, Aramis lowered her head so that she was close to eye level with Cassie. "Hey, kid, any idea of where your parents are?" She asked, studying the little dame's young features. She looks like she has a decent amount of... wolf.. maybe? She analyzed, sniffing. You'd think a wolf would take better care of their young. She's a little small for a wolf pup, though.

Vanadis | Loner | Location: Unclaimed Territory
Mentions: Roland(Directly)

"Yes, exactly. See if you can pinpoint it's location. You don't have to tell me exactly where. Just give me a general area." Vanadis nodded, but quickly noticing Roland sniffing the air as well, she attempted to follow his gaze, albeit a little casually. She frowned as he wasn't focusing on anything in particular, a bit miffed that she couldn't cheat her way through. Ear's folding as metal groaned underneath Roland's weight, lifting her nose to sniff once again. The whelp looked more concentrated this time her brows furrowing as she leaned forward careful not to tip too far. It understandably took her a few heartbeats longer to pinpoint the area than Roland, but eventually her gaze landed on an area further away, nearby a pile of rotting wood. Vanadis couldn't pinpoint where exactly it was coming from, but by how strong the scent had gotten once her nose turned to it, she must've been close enough. "Uh... there. Vanadis finally said, gesturing towards the general area the scent was wafting from.

Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis [directly] Shadow, Stoney [indirectly] Sullivan [NPC]

Cassiopeia's tail wagged rapidly back and forth as she scarfed down the meal, not paying too much attention to the spotted dog's voice, nor the other two dogs next to them. However, the word 'parents' caught her attention. She lifted her head to look into dark brown eyes. Her voice was blunt, yet oddly enthusiastic as she spoke. "Oh, my mama is dead!" She paused to swipe her tongue briefly across her muzzle. "But Papa said he was busy! I haven't seen him in a while, though. Prolly' because I left the den- I was hungry... He must be looking for me though!" She leaned over to take a few more eager bites out of the rabbit. She looked back up thoughtfully. "Are you sure you haven't seen 'im? Uhhh... He's got tan and brown fur and pointy ears and a long snout, and he's just about as big as you! He looks kinda like a fox, but I know he ain't! Sometimes he howls- he's got a real loud voice! He's so cool!!" She was practically gushing about the animal she called Papa, but was quick to tuck in again once she'd finished speaking, waiting for a response from the spotted dame.

Roland | Loner | Outside of Territories | Mentions; Vanadis [directly]

"Uh... There." Roland's eyes followed her gesture, nodding once he located the pile of wood once more. "Exactly. Now, come. I will help you down and you take the lead from there. I'll be paying close attention, got it?" He leaned over and snatched her up by the scruff without another word, launching himself onto the rusty bed with a second loud groan of metal, and then onto the ground, snow crunching beneath his paws. He set her down gently in front of the truck then turned, hauling himself all the way back up to the top, grabbing the rabbit, then leaping down once again. He moved a few paces away to a crumbling, unfinished brick wall, digging into the blanket of white and then the earth beneath it. He dropped the rabbit into the newly-created hole after a few moments, then proceeded to kick the dirt and snow he'd dug up back over it, packing it in securely. He surveyed the area for a split second, labeling it as a landmark for now, then hurrying back to Vanadis. "Preserve food you cannot finish." He sat down in front of the truck, eyes locking onto their new target's location. "It's your turn. Go ahead, try to catch it. I'll rush in if I think the hunt isn't going well." He motioned forwards with his snout, gaze never once leaving the wood.

Selkie | Abolition | Abolition Territory | Mentions; Kardama, Artemis [directly]

Selkie didn't seem to catch the brute's words at first, snout scrunching up in annoyance as the scrap of fuzz approached her. "Hullo! You're really fluffy!" She growled quietly under her breath ('No shit, kid.'), holding her ground albeit the pup being uncomfortably close. Her jaws snapped forwards suddenly after a mere moment of soaking up the pup's constant aura of cheer, teeth slamming shut right in front of her snout. "Watch yourself, brat!" Her harsh glare landed on the much bigger dog, who hadn't moved a muscle. "And you! I know very well it isn't your pup but unless you want ME to knock some sense into it, keep it from acting so damn foolish!" Venom was practically dripping from her maw at this point. How DARE you incredulous DIMWITS intrude on MY personal time just to have me deal with your BULLSHIT?!?!? She didn't say it, but she was definitely thinking it, and it almost showed in her dark little eyes. She refocused quickly. "Now you listen here! I don't care what the hell you do as long as you don't step a paw further into the territory! I am most certainly NOT going to show you a single SHRED of sympathy just because you're dragging around a whelp with you, and I will NOT take it back to my pack!! It'd be a waste of space and precious resources! Just another useless mouth to feed!!" Her mouth slammed shut after she finished, glaring intensely at the two intruders.

Artemis| Abolition Outskirts| Mentions- Kardama, Selkie

Arty staggered back as the furball snapped at her face. She sat down hard on her rump, stunned for a moment. She listened to the dog snarl at Kardama, then leaped up her her teeth bared. β€˜Hey, pompom!’ She barked, β€˜I’m not useless!’ She growled angrily. β€˜And you better watch what you say to me.’ Her fur bristled and she turned up her snout haughtily. β€˜And your more of a waste of food than I am. At least I’d grow up to be larger than a porcupine!’ She snorted. β€˜You’d make a fearsome gerbil hunter I suppose.’ The young wolf, stalked back to Kardama and sat between her paws elegantly.

Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Aramis, Stoney, Cassiopea
Shadow smiled as Aramis perked up at the mention of her brother. "Ah, Shadow, yeah, I was out hunting by the border." "Glad to see your hunt went well." They took in her darkened expression. "Did something happen? And yes, Quillion was feeling well enough to argue with me, so I assume he's doing somewhat better" They smiled, their normally hard expression softening for a moment. It didn't last long, as a pup dashed, or rather slid, over to eat the hare Aramis brought. >"I found this little one out in the storm." "It was the same with Stoney here." Shadow leaned in to match Aramis's lowered voice. "Well, I suppose I'll leave you for now. Keep an eye on Stoney if he decides to stay here, will you?" They gently licked Stoney's head before padding back to their den.

Likaen | Abolition Camp Border | Deanira, Synopy
Likaen was staring off into the distance as the other two leaders approached. He startled as their pawsteps neared him, turning to watch them. "All ready to go ladies? There's been no reply from Rye, so we'll have to go without him."

Kardama| Loner | Location: Abolition Outskirts. (Forest.)
Mentions: Artemis, Selkie.

She watched apathetically as the small dog nipped at the air in front of Artemis' face. Her reaction was just as lukewarm as the stranger began to yap at the pup and then turned to her. "I know very well it isn't your pup but unless you want ME to knock some sense into it, keep it from acting so damn foolish!" Her head tilted ever so slightly at the threat. "Do as you wish." She woofed blankly. The youngster's actions seemed rather normal to Kardama, not that she knew much about pups. If they wished to discipline the brat, however, she was in no place to object. "β€”and I will NOT take it back to my pack!! It'd be a waste of space and precious resources! Just another useless mouth to feed!!" Her stoic features turned into a troubled frown as Selkie finished her rambling. So they won't take the pup? What a shame. She thought, slowly lowering herself onto her painful haunches. "Very well, we'll be gone by the morningβ€”"

"Hey, pompom! I’m not useless!" The sudden outburst made the brute jump ever so slightly. She turned her leer towards the pup as she continued, "And your more of a waste of food than I am. At least I’d grow up to be larger than a porcupine! You’d make a fearsome gerbil hunter I suppose." Her eyes followed Artemis as she swiveled around and sat daintily between her paws once again. A deep, rumbling, noise escaped from her muzzle. It sounded similar to a chuckle, but much too gravelly to be certain. One of her massive paws lifted from the snow-covered ground and she all but smushed the haughty pup with it. "That's brave talk, little one." She began, glancing back up towards the Pomeranian-mix, "But you're in her territory and you're no bigger than she is. It's best that you show respect unless you want to be eaten by wolves." Pulling her paw away, she turned her scarred face back towards the wolfdog pup and offered them a semi-mocked serious expression.

Rye | Abolition Warrior | Location: Abolition Camp.
Mentions: Amina. (Directly.) Abolition Pack. (Indirectly.)

"Alright, you will lead the patrol around the territory." His tail began to dash back and forth behind him at the words. "Yes, ma'am!" He woofed back, his paws moving up and down in an odd fashion before he hopped back to his feet. "Anyone else? I'm only asking for two or three dogs per patrol." Rye cocked his head and glanced away from Amina as she called out to the other pack dogs. His bright eyes lingered on a few of the faces before he tilted his head the opposite way and hummed. Certainly there are other dogs well enough to join a patrol? He thought, his flopped ears swaying back and forth as a gust of wind caught them. Ah! Maybe it's because I'm going? Do they not want to accompany me? The thought of worry passed through his mind swiftly and a slightly concerned expression flashed across his face. Nonsense- He sneezed the idea away and straightened his posture in an exaggerated manor, waiting as patiently as he could.

Ferrer| Abolition | Location: Abolition Territory.
Mentions: Sigge, Finch, Loops.

A mixture of relief and distress flooded his chest as the cat confirmed his suspicions. So it's true. Insurgent took Slip. He heaved a heavy sigh and glanced towards Finch, "At least someone found him." He mumbled out to the other dog. "Her name is Sigge. She don't talk too much, I don't know if she knows how." Ferrer's wiry-furred face turned back towards the shivering pup as the cat spoke their name. Should we really take her? What if her family-

"Just take the pup. please. That's why I came to you." He leaned down hesitantly and grabbed Sigge by the scruff, lifting the pup out of the deep snow. Raising an eyebrow towards the wolfhound, he motioned that they should leave with a slight nod of his head. "Thank you." He managed to mumble out through the pup's wavy fur, sending one last suspicious glance towards the feline. I'm going to eat you next time we meet, fur-ball. He thought with a grunt and swung away, beginning to trudge back through the snow. Falling back into the trail of his own tracks, he stared towards the reactor in the distance. Turning away when they were this close to finding Slip felt like a betrayal to the canine. Each step he took stung, but he had finally accepted that there was nothing more he could do. I should get this little one back... and check on wee sleepin' Dyse while I'm at it. Then I can come back.

Vanadis | Loner | Location: Unclaimed Territory
Mentions: Roland(Directly)

"Exactly. Now, come. I will help you down and you take the lead from there. I'll be paying close attention, got it?" Vanadis's tail wagged as she let out a triumphant growl, her tail lifting high. "Got it!" She said, moments Roland picked her up again, ears twitching at another, much louder groan of metal. As she was set on the ground, Vanadis watched curiously as Roland buried the hare in a hole he had dug. "Preserve food you cannot finish." Vanadis nodded, though she still looked a little quizzical. "What if it goes bad in there? Then we won't be able to finish it at all." She said with a small frown, her head tilted. Back at home, her little 'pack' of sorts had so many mouths to feed that they never really had leftovers, so for the most part preserving food was unheard of.
It's your turn. Go ahead, try to catch it. I'll rush in if I think the hunt isn't going well." Huh? Oh, right! Her tail wagged viciously as she recalled her task, and it was surprising that she didn't go barrelling through the snow towards the wood from how excited she became. Instead, she nodded, taking a deep breath before she walked forward.

Vanadis made sure her paws crunched through the snow as quietly as possible like Roland did, body pulled low to the ground as she drew closer towards the hare scent's origin. She, surprisingly, got pretty far, coming several feet away from the pile of wood. Unfortunately for her, a forepaw recklessly crunched the snow underpaw loudly, Vanadis falling still from her mistake, cursing herself. Soon after, a white blur darted away from underneath the pile of wood, and had it not literally run straight into her, she would have missed it. With a jolt of surprise, the pup let out a huff of surprise as the rabbit crashed into her, back paws scrabbling to keep her upright while her forelegs trapped the hare close to her as much as she could. It was clear that Vanadis didn't have any idea what to do, the hares back legs beating furiously against her while her head swung around, trying to get some sort of bite in, but it was difficult with the position she was in. Still, she stubbornly held the hare close, but if Roland didn't come around soon, the hare was bound to free itself.

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Camp
Mentions: Shadow, Stoney, Cassie(Directly)

"Did something happen? And yes, Quillion was feeling well enough to argue with me, so I assume he's doing somewhat better" Aramis nodded slowly at Shadow's inquiry, her ears still pulled back as she recalled the events from before with a small frown. "Yes... a lot. I Still have yet to tell Isa, actually." She huffed out, eyes lowering to watch the puppy below her gorge the hare, with no incentive of slowing down. As Shadow mentioned she found her little tyke under similar circumstances, Aramis looked between Stoney and Cassie closely, but shrugged her shoulders once she quickly deemed them unrelated. "Well, I suppose I'll leave you for now. Keep an eye on Stoney if he decides to stay here, will you?" Aramis looked up, gazing curiously at Shadow's own puppy, 'Stoney', apparently. "Uhh.. alright. Tell Quillon that I'll talk to him soon." She said, watching Shadow pad off for a few heartbeats before she'd look down to give Stoney an awkward smile. Have i turned into Insurgent's pupsitter or what...
"Oh, my mama is dead!" The female whelp's unnervingly excited voice made Aramis loo down at her, eyes widened slightly at her cheerful tone despite her words. "But Papa said he was busy! I haven't seen him in a while, though. Prolly' because I left the den- I was hungry... He must be looking for me though! Are you sure you haven't seen 'im? Uhhh... He's got tan and brown fur and pointy ears and a long snout, and he's just about as big as you! He looks kinda like a fox, but I know he ain't! Sometimes he howls- he's got a real loud voice! He's so cool!!"

Not a wolf then, maybe a coyote? Coyotes look more fox-like than wolf-like, anyway, plus if her sire was a wolf he'd be much bigger than Aramis. But from what the whelp was saying, it sounded like she was abandoned more than it sounded like her father was just running some errands. "Don't think I've ever seen him, sorry kid. Do you have any siblings waiting for you back at home?" She asked, a part of her wanting to track down where she lived in case she did have siblings. Who knows, maybe her father did return home. "Also, do you have a name?

Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Aramis [directly] Shadow, Stoney [indirectly] Sullivan [NPC]

"Don't think I've ever seen him, sorry kid. Do you have any siblings waiting for you back at home? Also, do you have a name?" Cassiopeia's ear twitched, but she didn't respond right away. She pushed herself to completely finish the rabbit, and after just a few more moments, she succeeded. She took a second to lick any left-overs off of her muzzle, looking up at the spotted dame. "Nope, I don't think -hic!- I've ever had any at all. Papa's never mentioned any, at-" She let out another hiccup that thoroughly halted her speech. However, she didn't continue, instead resorting to thinking to herself and letting out some feeble little hiccups every now and then. She couldn't really remember anything that far back, let alone how her mother had died, although, she definitely didn't remember ever carrying the scent of other pups with her, either. She refocused, realizing that she'd forgotten to answer the second question. "Yeah! It's Cassiopeia, I think!" Her tail wagged. She'd heard her papa say the name once or twice, and automatically assumed he was referring to her. So, she had adopted it to her identity. She looked over to the other pup next to them. It appeared that the big, black dog had left. She wrinkled her snout, giving him a very judgmental once-over, before turning away her head and refusing to look at him again. Unless he proved to be more than a scrap of sassy fluff like herself, she had no means of interacting with him.

Roland | Loner | Outside of Territories | Mentions; Vanadis [directly]

"What if it goes bad in there? Then we won't be able to finish it at all." Roland huffed at the inquiry, but didn't answer. He'd wait until after the hunt to properly answer that question. His eyes followed her figure as she moved away, a smile threatening to tug at the edge of his muzzle as he realized that she was mimicking his movements from earlier. He mentally whacked himself. Nothing to be so proud of, you fool. His eyes narrowed as he watched the rabbit barrel into the pup, but in mere moments, he was on his paws, rushing over to the tussle. Well, she's at least got a hold of it. He skidded to a stop, spraying up snow in every direction. His head lowered quickly, grabbing onto the rabbit's neck- whilst carefully avoiding nipping the pup- and biting down sharply. He flipped Vanadis and the fresh kill over, so that the little one could regain balance. He dropped the small corpse beside her and sat down, waiting until she was back on her paws to speak. "You did good, however, if it were not for the stupidity of this particular prey-item, you'd be left empty-pawed. Despite your unfortunate slip-up, you at least managed to do something." He stopped himself. Was the sarcasm in his voice apparent? I hope not. "Ah, but don't worry- you will improve with each hunt, failed or not.

Selkie | Abolition | Abolition Territory | Mentions; Kardama, Artemis [directly] Po [indirectly]

"Hey, pompom! I’m not useless! And you better watch what you say to me." A fuzzy little brow raised in anticipation. "And your more of a waste of food than I am. At least I’d grow up to be larger than a porcupine! You’d make a fearsome gerbil hunter I suppose." Selkie's dark eyes narrowed, but after a moment, she bursted into unexpected laughter. "Now, that's funny! You're part wolf, are you not? I expected even an insolent scrap of half-breed fuzz like yourself would know the basic fundamentals of a pack!" Pure venom. She smiled devilishly as the pup moved away. It would have been extremely threatening if she weren't so small. "There is much more use to a dog than just being able to fight and hunt, you know. Such as being able to negotiate with enemies, help build dens, collect materials and herbs, and so on! Not necessarily that your peanut-shell brain could comprehend all of those fantastical possibilities." Her eyes instead landed on the bigger trespasser, wide grin returning to a mere smirk. "That's brave talk, little one. But you're in her territory and you're no bigger than she is. It's best that you show respect unless you want to be eaten by wolves." Her tail gave a slight wag. Well said, brute. I'm starting to like you a little bit- you aren't whining at me, at least. Her mind wandered away for a moment. Would the big broad attack? Maybe not, but it was a possibility. If so, she could probably call on her acquaintance, Po. He wasn't much of a fighter but he would definitely seem intimidating. So, that's my back-up plan. Good. She brought her attention back to the other two dogs. Should she help them? Wolves were still a current threat, after all. "If you really must stay longer, I can at least lead you to a safer place. The wolves don't cross the border often, but they could be very easily tempted by the possibility of easy prey. Staying so close to the border wouldn't be worth the risk."
