This RP is closed and has been remade here: LINK A feminine, monotone voice echoes through the halls of a suburban family home, "An estimated 250 dogs live at the plant itself, 225 in the city of Chernobyl, and hundreds more roam around, for a total of more than 1,000, according to SPCA International. Wolves and the need for food have driven the dogs from wooded areas surrounding the plant into the Exclusion Zone." Suddenly, a sharper female voice cuts in. "Don't watch something so depressing, sweetie. The puppies are fine." The screen goes black. setting music The city is picturesque from the television screen. Though living amongst the crumbling, overgrown, radioactive buildings is another hell entirely. Dogs whose ancestors were abandoned by their masters in order to escape the explosion generations ago still remain here to this day, too far into the Exclusion Zone to be saved by any humans residing outside of Chernobyl. Many have been born with birth defects, sometimes visible but more often affecting their minds, organs and lifespans. Two major packs have risen out of the dust, Abolition and Insurgent. The packs have always been at odds but due to the encroachment of wolves and low resources, space is low and tempers are at an all time high. Can they come together to overcome the odds or will their own greed tear them down?
Current season: Early Winter. [Frigid temperatures. Long nights, short and dark days.] Current major events: Time Skip!! 9/5 Two Abolition dogs have been killed by Insurgent pack members. This has caused unrest in both packs. A massive snow storm has swept over Chernobyl, bringing an early winter and a shortage of supplies.

Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Tok, Jonah [directly] Aramis, Koroneis [indirectly] "Just a bird? It's possessed or something, it wants peck out my eyeballs. See, look. It can talk. Like a dog." Cassiopeia's head tilted when the bird spoke, casting a side glance to the bigger dog. "So? Ravens are pretty smart." This, she knew for a fact. If her father had taught her anything at all, although maybe not with that intention, it was that carrion-eaters were smart, They followed wolves and dogs to feed off of their left-overs, and sometimes even led canines to carcasses as well. "Hey, Cassie? You see that bird? Try to see if you can snatch a feather from him, or something. I'll try to catch you a mouse if you can get more than two." Her eyes lit up at the challenge and she rose to her paws quickly, tail wagging with excitement. "Don't do it kid, it's not worth it. That thing will eat you." She wrinkled her snout at Jonah. "I don't know about that, it looks like it's after you. You're the only one running from it, after all!" Her voice ended with a very teasing tone as she bounded away towards the coydog and the bird. Her paws skittered across the smooth tile when she reached them. Ignoring their argument, she lunged at Tok without warning. They were, perhaps, the same size, but she had the upper-hand at the moment due to her sudden attack. She was quick to latch onto a stray feather that she thought would be easy to tear away, although she was surprised when she tumbled back with the feather still in her mouth. She righted herself swiftly and moved into a play bow, eyeing Tok mischievously. "Hey Mr. Raven! I'm gonna need another one of those feathers!! She didn't mean any harm- she truly was only after his feathers. Or rather, the prize that would come afterwards if she managed to snag another one. Roland | Loner | Outside of Territories | Mentions; Vanadis [directly] "Okay! I'll be able to tell my parents how you don't eat puppies! They told me that once." Roland smiled softly, turning his head slightly as if to hide the expression. Although, the grin dropped and he looked back at Vanadis when she began speaking again. She sounded sad. "I was out looking for them, you know. That's how I found your store. My older sister and parents said they'd go out to get some food when that first storm calmed down a little, but it picked up again but I haven't seen them since. I have a sister my age too. She looks like me. I left without her so I don't know if she's still at home or not." He frowned, weighing his options carefully. It might be risky, but... "Maybe we can go looking for your sister. It's possible that she may be with one of the packs, or another loner like myself." He paused, rising to his paws and sauntering over to the pup. He pressed his cold nose gently against her forehead, as if trying to offer her some comfort, before leaning back and sitting down again. "Maybe tomorrow, depending on the weather." He offered her a warm grin, a twitch of his lips, really, still hesitant to show off his feelings on the situation. Selkie | Abolition | Abolition Territory | Mentions; Kardama, Artemis [directly] Selkie's snout wrinkled when the pup barged in past her, rushing towards the mice and scaring them away into the cover of the walls. "Thank you. Truly." A round ear twisted around in Kardama's direction, and her head followed suit. "No need. Although the intent certainly wasn't hostile, the words seemed cold. She hated being thanked, just as much as she hated saying thank you. She often found that dogs thought that she owed them after saying those two simple words. "No need to worry your pack, we'll leave your territory at first light." A little brow cocked upwards at the broad with slight amusement. Worry her pack? Yeah, right. "I could honestly care less about how long you stay. As long as you don't give me away if you're found." Her snout wrinkled. "I only pretend to be a pack dog for my own safety, after all. She glanced through a dusty window that let the dim light of the day filter through. She could spare a few more minutes before her pack began growing suspicious of her whereabouts. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kardama | Loner | Location: Abolition Territory. Mentions: Selkie, Artemis. She extended her legs out ahead of her, forcing the soreness out of them. After a second of stretching she slowly slid to the ground. "No need." She could sense the friction in the other dog's tone and glanced up towards her after she answered. Kardama wasn't particularly bothered by it. Her own voice seemed to carry the same coldness, of course. Despite that, she could help but muse. Perhaps I said something wrong. She thought as she lowered her head to rest on her tattered forelegs. Her gaze slid around the room, curiously watching Artemis. The pup still seemed to be focused on the resident mice population. "I could honestly care less about how long you stay. As long as you don't give me away if you're found. I only pretend to be a pack dog for my own safety, after all." A soft hum sounded from the brutish dog's throat and she ran her tongue across her scarred nose in thought. "How would I give away a dog that I don't even know the name of?" She inquired, a curious tone creeping into her voice. She raised her own dark tan brown and peered keenly at the other dog's features. The little she-dog intrigued her, she had to admit. Fair in stature, but her bravery seemed to rival even the wolves who lived in the forest. Maybe... She allowed her gaze to slip away as a faint smile crept onto her features. "Sounds dreadful, living in a place where you don't want to be." A long pause of silence filled the air as she contemplated her next words. "If you were offered safety elsewhere, would you leave your pack?" It was a blatantly forward question, even she had to admit. Her burgundy eyes settled back onto the strange dame as she peered out through a window into the fading light. Perhaps it was a bit too forward. Ferrer| Abolition | Location: Abolition Territory. Mentions: Sigge, Finch, Loops. His scraggly ears leaned back as the strange cat began to yell their farewells his way. He even threatened to peek back over his shoulder when he heard them mutter something about not eating them. Humph. You wish, wee furball. He thought with a snort, his long legs pushing through the snow as he worked his way back towards camp. He wasn't entirely sure if Finch was still at his side, though he was almost certain he could hear the large dame's pawsteps falling in line with his. Perhaps it was a trick of the wind. Nearing camp, he stepped out of the dense snow and sat the pup at his feet. Shaking his ragged coat to rid it of the various ice stuck to it, he took a moment to catch his breath and survey the reactor. Glancing about camp, there were very few dogs actually lingering around the area. More importantly, the leaders seemed to be completely gone. "Odd." He woofed, letting out a worried sigh. Peering down his snout at the shivering, strange, pup, he finally leaned back down and grabbed their scruff once again. "Best to get you inside and warm, lass." He muttered through a mouth full of wavy fur. Allowing his paws to carry him through the familiar path leading to his apothecary, he stopped just outside and plopped the pup down onto a warm stack of fur-lined pelts. I'll go and see if Dyse is awake after this little one warms up. His sleep-deprived eyes lingered on the entrance to his own den at the thought. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Aramis | Insurgent Scout | Location: Insurgent Camp Mentions: Cassie, Jonah, Isa, Tok(Directly) Insurgent Leaders, Bull(Indirectly) "Just a bird? It's possessed or something, it wants peck out my eyeballs." Aramis snorted, watching as Tok swooped not long aftr in the hospital lobby, speaking out. She had to admit, watching it actually open its mouth in speak in dog's tongue was unnerving, no matter how many times she saw it happen. She can understand why Jonah fels so fearfully about the raven, just slightly. "Then don't let him- you'll probably be able to make a meal out of him far before he's able to do something like that." She replied with an amused expression, the spotted scout giving a small shrug as she spoke, eyes still on Tok. "Ha-ha. Of course not, I'm her favourite brother." Aramis's ears twitched at Jonah's voice, before she'd turn her head to glare at him momentarily. "Oh, sure you are. Not sure how I couldn't tell." The remark was obviously sarcastic, eyes rolling slightly as he gave a warning out to Cassie. She doubted it'd really deterred by it, and she was right. "I don't know about that, it looks like it's after you. You're the only one running from it, after all!" Aramis's smile broadened quite a bit after her words, happy that both her distraction worked on her AND that she was in such high spirits. It melted away slightly as she watched Cassie successfully snatch a feather from Tok, wincing at the sight. Oh.. she's pretty capable isn't she. Aramis thought, her attention so focused on Cassie and the raven that she missed as Jonah parroted her, snapping back just in time to catch his inquiry. "Is it about your murderous pack-mate I had the pleasure of meeting earlier? Something about, wolf instincts forcing him to kill?" Aramis nodded slowly, ears pulled back as she gazed outside again. Another dog seemed to come up in the distance, unfamiliar to the scout. Another Abolition dog? Odd, they didn't show up with the leaders. She though suspiciously, mistaking the loner for a rival packmember. "Uh, yeah. He killed a dog from Abolition, our rivals, basically. We've been at war for a while now and the only reason it isn't still raging on is because theres a truce." Aramis finally answered, still eyeing the newer dog. Her eyes then squinted as she took in the heated discussion going on out there, even catching the word scum in it. "I suspect the truce is probably not going to last long though." Aramis muttered in a concerned tone, mostly to herself. "Ah- and also, I know I told you not to tell me but- How old are they? How long have I been a great uncle?" She finally looked back to Jonah at his net question, looking at him quizzically. Following his gaze, they led straight to Stoney and Cassie, her eyes widening in realization. Oh.. that's what he meant. Her paws shuffled awkwardly before she would answer. "Ohβ those aren't mine actuallyβ I just found them, I don't know how old they are." She huffed out, cringing at how much that sounded like a complete lie. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Raymond | Insurgent Territory ( Hospital, and forest ) | Mentions: Isa ( Indirectly ) The dam curiously looked out the shattered window, peeking at the light snow that fell onto the streets. The winter hasn't been that bad on her since she had to stay in the hospital for the whole season. But the herbs that she picked from had slowly been rotting and withering. Raymond was currently panicking for this reason and paced around the hospital room she resided in, taking deep breathes she pulled herself back together. "Alright,, since all of the herbs I need to treat Insurgent members are withering,, I should probably go outside, but I doubt that any plants would survive this winter. " The female muttered to herself looking down at her white paws, she bit her tongue as her only choice was to go outside and look for anything in the forest nearby " Okay,, okay Raymond you just need to go outside,, and look for herbs!" She said, hyping herself up a bit. "But,, what if somethings out there, like like- Like a Abolition member! Or something worse,," Raymond anxiously said to herself as she turned away from the window, she let out a sigh as her head slumped down. Her eyes slowly made it's way back to the shattered window , having a anxious look plastered onto the dams face. There was nothing there to be afraid of,, just white fluffy snow. She grabbed a dirty satchel, a bit scratched up and bitten but was the perfect size for her to wear. Raymond trotted down to the hospital entrance looking up at the glass, she gulped and opened the door carefully with her forehead. Stepping out of the building, her paws sinking into the deep layer of snow. Raymond looked up at the sky, it was dark but had a orange and purple hue from the dim sun. The dog continued her search, the noise of snow crunching echoed through the quiet city. As she walked, Raymond thought about Isa,, she wondered what her old friend was doing now. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 19/10/21 @ 21:39:35 by polygoespurr (#230307) |

Koroneis/Tok| Insurgent Camp| Jonah, Isa, Aramis, Cassie Tok turned his head and stared at the puppy as it skittered towards him. He rolled his eyes. βBe my guest.β He chuckled and barely flinched as the pup snagged on his feathers. The raven then flapped up into the air and playfully tweaked its ears with a croak. Koroneis watched with a scared but worried expression. The small coydog crouched, her gaze flickering from Tok, Cassie, Aramis and Jonah. She tucked her tail around her and edged further away from the Isa-clone. Tok glanced at Jonah. βWhy are you scared of me?β He cawed, flapping his wings to stay in the air. Raymond | Insurgent Territory ( Hospital, and forest ) | Mentions: None. The dame still searched around the frozen shrubs and bushes around the city, the place was already broken down so much and she wondered to herself if the snow would make it worst. Raymond removed these thoughts from her head and now focused on picking herbs than just looking at scenery, her noise lightly touched the snow making her shiver as she tried to sniff out any herbs left around the area. "How can I find anything here,, It's all frozen,, " She muttered to herself, lifting her head and walking forward leaving her small paw marks into the deep snow. Her face had a worried look on it as she no longer could find anything in the area and let out a defeated sigh. " What am I going to do? There's nothing out here than all this snow,, " The dame spoke to herself, as she was used to it already. Raymond looked over to the dark forest,, the whistling of cold breeze sent shivers down her spine, she turned her head to the city before hesitantly taking a step into the forest the sound of leaves and twigs crunching under her paw had made the dame quite anxious and started to power walk through the trees. 0 players like this post! Shadow | Insurgent Camp | Isa, Slip, Deanira, Synopy, Likaen Shadow's hackles raised at Isa's tone, and they pulled their lips from their teeth in a silent snarl. When they spoke again, it was in short clipped sentences, venom barely held back from coating their words. "Fine. I'll see them to the entrance to camp." Shadow turned away once again, taking a deep breath before addressing the Abolition leaders once again. "My apologies, however it seems that my leader needs me here." They dipped their head, their voice coming out smoothly, as though the anger they had for Isa was suddenly gone. "I will at least see you to the gate, you deserve more respect than simply being tossed out into the snow." They smiled slightly before slowly padding towards the entrance to camp, looking back once to ensure they were following. Likaen | Insurgent Camp | Isa, Slip, Shadow, Deanira, Synopy Likaen gently picked up Slip by his scruff, and padded after Shadow, wearing his silence like a cloak for protection against Isa's cold words. Slate | Insurgent Territory | Open Slate was wandering the territory, staying away from well traveled areas in an attempt to remain hidden for a little while longer. He would've stayed in camp, but Aramis seemed to be more interested in the pups and the loner that she had found, so he left. Cassiopeia | Loner | Insurgent Camp | Mentions: Tok [indirectly] Cassiopeia automatically jumped up at the bird when she felt him tug at her ears, but she missed by a long shot. With a playful growl, she ran underneath him, jumping up again. She twisted in the air, as if trying to reach out even further, but she still missed. Despite her second failure, her tail continued wagging back and forth behind her. As he flew, she continued trailing after him, just like a fuzzy little shadow. She would jump when she thought she had a decent chance, missing each and every time. However, she was never discouraged- she would simply right herself as soon as possible, then wait for her next opportunity. Selkie | Abolition | Abolition Territory | Mentions; Kardama, Artemis [directly] "How would I give away a dog that I don't even know the name of?" An ear twitched and Selkie allowed an amused chuckle to escape her. "There aren't very many tiny dogs in packs." The statement was simple enough, and very true. She didn't believe that there were actually any others dogs in Abolition that were eye-level with her, though she didn't know very many dogs either way. She wasn't the most social. "Sounds dreadful, living in a place where you don't want to be." It didn't take long for her to think up a response to that, but she stayed silent. She knew the big dame had something else to say. "If you were offered safety elsewhere, would you leave your pack?" The question caught her off-guard, causing her to fall into her own awkward silence. Would she? The only point in staying was for safety, as she didn't have any further connections with the pack. "Probably. I don't like being tied down to one place, especially with so many dogs. Her dark eyes landed on the other dog. "A pack was my best option, though." She looked down at her paws. After making a hasty escape from her indirect family, she'd discovered Abolition rather quickly. Most of the pack had been wary of letting her join at first, just as much as she was of joining them. However, it didn't take long for her to settle in. She still had the sneaking that many dogs didn't particularly like her, but she could care less. As long as she was safe there, it was all that mattered. Her attentions returned to the cherry-eyed dog. "Your name. What is it? I'm Selkie." 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kardama | Loner | Location: Abolition Territory. Mentions: Selkie, Artemis. Kardama watched the small dog falter for a moment before replying, "Probably. I don't like being tied down to one place, especially with so many dogs. A pack was my best option, though." She met her gaze for a moment, humming thoughtfully before looking away. "We will be here until first light." She repeated the sentence from earlier, it could be taken that she was confirming they would leave without a problem. The words seemed be laced with some hidden meaning, however. If the little dame could pick up on that was entirely up to her. "Your name. What is it? I'm Selkie." She paused for a moment as if mulling the question over. She didn't get asked her name very often, even when speaking to strange canines. "My name is Kardama and-" She peered curiously at Artemis for a moment, rocking her head to the side. "I'm not sure about the pup's name. I found her this morning during the blizzard, wandering alone." Her voice became soft as she continued to speak. Perhaps she should've asked the strange wolfdog's name. In hindsight, she hadn't particularly imagined that they would still be in her company. In a perfect world they would have stumbled onto the runt's family long ago and they would've had a cheery reunion. Then Kardama would've returned to the forest by herself. I guess none of this would have happened if that's how it had went. She thought, her dark gaze returning to the small dog. She studied the dame's outline in the fading light. This day had certainly been out of her comfort zone but it was far from bad. Ferrer| Abolition | Location: Abolition Territory. Mentions: Sigge, Amina. "Ferrer, what in Snow's grace have you been rolling in? I'm getting a strange smell from your den." His ears perked forwards at his beta's question. "Aye. I found- Well, I was given a strange lass. She seemed to 'ave been lost out there in the snow." He barked, motioning towards the pup he had tucked away safely in a little nest of pelts. The ice still stuck to his coat was now beginning to melt and dripped down onto the concrete around his paws, creating splotchy patterns on the floor. "I'm going to step in and check on my wee son. If you don't mind keepin' an eye on her for a moment?" He questioned, not really waiting for an answer before he ducked into his den and disappeared. Taking a few paw-steps inside, he could immediately tell that something was wrong. Everything was still picturesque from when he had left, and it seemed as though Dyse hadn't moved an inch. He froze, his panicked breath coming out in puffs in the chilled air. "Dyse?" He called out cautiously. There was no response, and so he slowly crept towards the pup. They appeared to be asleep, curled up in a little ball from where Ferrer had tucked them in last night. He lowered his head to gently nudge the tiny figure with his nose, drawing back quickly as he was met with a chilled corpse. Oh no. When had it happened? While he was gone looking for Slip? When they were sleeping? He whirled away, his jaw clenched in a pained expression. "Oh- I..." He quickly staggered away and passed by Amina quickly, descending the stairs in a single leap. Tears had formed around the edges of his tired, blood-shot, eyes. He sat back on his haunches and leaned against the cold concrete wall for support. "What- What do I do?" He murmured out loud, lower jaw quivering as he fought back bursting out into a sobbing fit. Jonah | Loner | Location: Insurgent camp. Mentions: Cassiopeia, Aramis, Tok. He grunted in protest as the pup mentioned ravens being smart. "I beg to differ." He huffed out, watching as Cassiopeia strolled across the floor to snag one of the bird's feathers. His entire body flinched as she managed to actually pluck one out, watching in horror as she began to attempt to grab a second. "Then don't let him- you'll probably be able to make a meal out of him far before he's able to do something like that." He shook his head as Aramis spoke, a leer plastered on his features. "If it doesn't kill me in this life, it'll probably choke me out for revenge if I tried to eat it." He replied suspiciously, though a tinge of humor had crept into his voice. Her sarcastic comment towards him not being Isa's favourite sibling made him turn his attention back towards her. "It's true- we were thick as thieves when we were younger-" His voice trailed off, a somewhat somber tone creeping in. "I suppose things change.. Well! She still likes me more than our sister- I think." He got lost in thought for a second, a bit uncomfortable as he recalled their third sibling. Much more violent than he or Isa could have ever dreamed of being. She had stayed behind with the all-female ground when Jonah and Isa left. She belongs there. He thought with a nod of his head. "Uh, yeah. He killed a dog from Abolition, our rivals, basically. We've been at war for a while now and the only reason it isn't still raging on is because theres a truce." He nodded as she spoke, "Hmm. I remember that pack, I don't remember these leaders though." He muttered, motioning vaguely towards the dogs outside who seemed to now be leaving. "I suspect the truce is probably not going to last long though." A frown creased his muzzle at her words. "Who knows? Maybe you'll all become the best of friends before it's over with.. Or, at least, not enemies." He said with a soft laugh, it was an attempt at comforting her but even he knew that the idea was far-fetched. Well, perhaps it wasn't as unachievable as they all thought. What did he know? He hadn't even been here but for an hour tops. "Ohβ those aren't mine actuallyβ I just found them, I don't know how old they are." He narrowed his eyes, glancing between Aramis and the pups. "Just found them? You're making it sound like you stole them." He said with a laugh, nudging his niece slightly with his elbow. "Ah- and of course. Isa just found you guys as well." He added sarcastically. As the bird took to the air, Jonah scooted a bit behind the spotted dame. "Why are you scared of me?" His brow furrowed as Tok croaked. "Scared? Do I look scared to you?" He said as bravely as he could, glowering at the black mass of feathers as they hovered in the air. 0 players like this post! Koroneis/Tok| Insurgent Camp| Jonah, Aramis, Cassie An amused expression flitted across the bird's face. "Yes." he chuckled, landing and jabbing his beak playfully at Cassie. He hopped around with a caw of laughter and snatched up one of his feathers off the floor. Tok balanced on one leg, then transferred the silky black feather to his talon. Koroneis fidgeted as Tok poked at the pup. "Don't harm her, dear." she called to the raven. Tok appeared to ignore her, bending his legs to flap clumsily back into the air. The heavy black bird twisted to fix his eyes on Jonah. βAnd my kin might be interested in pecking dog eyes out, but not me, so stop overreacting, you big baby.β Tok added scathingly, sending waves of brittle air down before swooping and landing behind Cassie with a challenging caw! Copper| Insurg/Abol Borders-ο Insurgent Land| Idk- Copper paced along the border, the fur along his spine prickling. His ears were pricked as he listened to the far-off sounds of dogs arguing. The huge ridgeback stamped his paws impatiently. He couldnβt stand it, waiting for his packmates to come back. What if they didnβt? Copper knew how cruel Isa could beβ¦ he whined, leaning as far as he could over the scent marks. Maybe he should join them. Despite being so big, Copper wasnβt a violent dog, but perhaps he could intimidate the other pack? But what if they werenβt even fighting? Copper hopped on his paws for another moment then strode across the border towards the Insurgent camp. After a moment he poked his head through a prickly bush with his eyes screwed up against the thorny vegetation. Copper sneezed, then spotted the Abolition dogs facing off with a few Insurgent. He hauled his broad orange frame out of the bush and walked nervously towards his packmembers. He leaned towards Likaen and the other co-leaders. βSorry, but I had to see if you were all alright.β He mumbled, staying behind the group. His bright golden-brown eyes flitted to the Insurgent dogs, wondering how they would react to his arrival. 0 players like this post! Like? |
