However he did notice several cats vanishing during patrols, only to come back with minor injuries and no memory...interesting.

[ story ]

Had somecat told Haystalk that he would return to the land where his parents were from, much less the same clan, he probably would have joked that they'd had too much sun. But now? Walking through the fields with a warrior at his side?

Well there were nights Haystalk fell asleep wondering if he was the one with too much sun.

Tigermoon and Maplestar were both quiet company, which wasn't a bad thing, if anything Haystalk was glad for it. But Briarsplash was a bit more...excitable. She was alright though, he supposed. They all were, really. It was just...odd.

Haystalk had grown up on stories of Oakclan and Grouseclan, two clans locked into an eternal war. Only to find out, that his father's clan had done...something, to Oakclan, that had resulted in both clans destruction. Except of course, for Maplestar.

"You ever wonder" he asked, causing Tigermoon to jerk his head towards Haystalk. "You ever wonder if there's anything left behind from those times that Maplestar won't talk about?

Tigermoon didn't respond right away, his curly fur swaying in the wind. Haystalk continued, knowing his new clanmate well enough that Tigermoon wasn't ignoring him, just trying to process Haystalk's words. "Those sorts of things, they can't just have vanished, right?"

Tigermoon shrugged. "Maybe they did, maybe they didn't" he responded "They're gone now, Starclan wouldn't have let Maplestar form Oakclan if they weren't." there was a strange inflection in the tom's voice as he said "Starclan", but that was a den of snakes for another day.

"You really think so?" Haystalk persisted, his tail flicking nervously as he scanned the open fields. Tigermoon nodded, his voice more firm. "I do. If anything happens to us, it won't be the fault of Starclan, but of those who have failed to uphold the wishes of our ancestors." his voice was cold, and Haystalk remembered with a wince that Oakclan wasn't Tigermoon's first clan. But before he could apologize, Tigermoon growled "Now come on, we're supposed to be hunting." and stepped up his pace.

Snow drifts lazily through the skies and falls upon peaceful territories.

As Reedstar implored the ancestors to send him a sign, whether about the strange vanishings or where Harefoot could have gone, a sharp breeze buffeted his fur. He turned to follow the direction of the winds, and saw cat shrouded in fog slinking away from him. He chased after the cat, but the fog shrouded his tracking. He was able to determine however, that the cat was headed quite clearly for Fogclan's camp...

Stagsky found Harefoot! He was huddled in a rabbit warren two days travel beyond the clans borders. He is uninjured, but some herbs for soothing shock certainly wouldn't hurt.

As Saffronjaw and Wetsplash grow closer, they begin to realize that they'd like to be together. Saffronjaw is successfully pregnant, and has eaten the Kitweed prior.

It was tricky, remembering her new name. But Meadowflight was determined not to slip up anymore than she already had. She had gone by Moonheart for so long, that despite starting with the same sound, Meadowflight felt like the name of a total stranger.

But then, that's what she was now. No longer a respected deputy, but just some loner who had joined the clan not a half-moon ago. It had stung, when Maplestar refused to reestablish her position, but she could almost understand why. He wanted a deputy who could work well with him. Well she would prove to him that she was the best choice.

As for the other warriors in the clan well, little Briarsplash and her herbs were far more suited to the role of medicine cat, but without any signs there would be no reason to elevate her, and with the difficulty she had in being near Meadowflight well, how could she expect to be medicine cat if she was afraid of the cat best suited to be deputy? So she was safely out of the way.

Haystalk was odd, but the old loner seemed content with his lot in life. Fine enough by her, he was easygoing enough that Meadowflight felt confident that she could sway him to her side if need be.

No, her biggest threat...was Beechshade. Or rather, Tigermoon, as he was calling himself now. He had clan experience as well, and he'd been with Oakclan for much longer than she had. But it was fine, she just...

Meadowflight sighed, looking up at the sky through the waving grass. She just had to prove that she was better than him. Because she had to protect the clan. That's all she was good for, protecting others. She could take care of them, make their decisions, and life would be perfect. Trouble came when others rebelled, it's what had caused her siblings to split up, and it's what had destroyed Astroclan. Trouble.

Well, no trouble would come to Oakclan, not if she had anything to say about it.

Even if she had to do everything herself, get her paws dirty, whatever it took.

Oakclan would be safe under her careful guidance.

As Snailstar stalks through the forest, he suddenly notices a very familiar scent, A Rabbit!
Snailstar slowly advances towards the smell, until he sees two long ears sticking out from inside the bush. Luckily, the wind carries his scent away from the prey, so it has not yet noticed it is being watched.
Snailstar crouches down, sneaking up to the bush in a slow, steady movement like the wind, and with one swift jump, the rabbit is his!

Spiderjump takes Owlpaw out to the fields to train her fighting skills! Owlpaw is challenged by her mentor to land a successful blow on them to complete her Fighting training.
Owlpaw runs towards her mentor, but he swiftly moves to the side and she misses. While Spiderjump laughs at her attempt, Owlpaw scatches the ground and throws dust into Spiderjump's eyes, blinding him momentarelly and allowing her a hit!
Satisfied with Owlpaw's resourcefulness, he confirms her victory.

Emberback sits at camp, joyfully watching the kits play. Brightkit stumbles up to her and plops down besides her, exhausted from the roughhousing. While Emberback lovingly cleans Brightkit, Stripedkit sneaks up to her and pounces onto her head, chomping down on her ear. With a lough, Emberback shakes the little rascal off.

Icegaze sits under a tree in the woods, hidden away by shrubs. He is deep in though, staring down onto the ground, feeling the loneliness of isolation.

Despite the hotter weather, cool breezes sweep across the territories and summer is in full stride!
